MemberOvomorphJan-11-2013 12:44 PMVickers objected to Holloway being quarantined. In the next scene with David trying to remove the cross Shaw rightly says that all of the crew were expoased to whatever was there. The rest of the crew could also be infected with holloway's ailment.
I amnot sure if there was much time passing by between the two scenes. If you were in charge of the safety of the ship could you easily let Janek/Ford back on board?
Actually I think there is another aspect of this sequence.
Why wasn't David consulted(as the smartest scientist) as to the best way to treat Holloway or at least how to handle the remaining crew as they want to come back on board the Prometheus.
It seemed to me except for Shaw everybody was back on board doing their jobs as Weyland was getting ready to meet his maker.

As to why David/some senior scientist wasn't consulted- David ain't necessarily omniscient. Just because someone is the smartest person on board doesn't mean they're also the best (medical) doctor.
The whole point of this is lost if you keep it a secret.

MemberOvomorphJan-11-2013 2:50 PMIndy, I've been reading this post several times and I am not sure what you are asking. Are you saying that because Vickers was in on the hidden addenda involving Weyland that she violated ICC quarantine protocols by letting everyone back on board except Holloway?

MemberOvomorphJan-11-2013 2:57 PMHolloway was the only one with signs of pathogen at the time (illness, cellular breakdown), so Vickers would make sure he remained off the ship. Since the rest of the team were sealed inside their environmental suits, they could be decontaminated in the air lock which sprayed a disinfectant of some kind prior to taking off their suits and accessing the rest of the ship. Flamethrowers would have been used to sterilize the deck en-route to the airlock/decontamination area. Those activities would have taken a bit of time to show and detract from the emotion of the scene where Holloway gets torched and Shaw cries out in anguish at his death.
David could have run a check on all others after accessing the ship. I think that was implied to take place right before the scene where Shaw wakes up on the diagnostic table.
David , being the only one to have the knowledge of introducing the goo sample into Holloway's champagne and placing the goo into his body as an experiment, would keep that information to himself and no-one else would know . He is, in fact, waiting to "collect data" from Holloway's exposure to the goo.
Since the rest of the crew have no idea of David's experiment, everyone would continue their assigned duties and be seen reviving Weyland .

I thank you for a reasonable explation of my concern.
It seemed that Shaw was singled out for decontaminated while other crew members exposed to everything that Holloway experienced were going about their business, including prepping Weyland for his meeting.
The time between Shaw's collapse after the flamethower scene and her waking up with David trying to remove the cross seemed short. More time might be needed to decontaminate all of the crew that visited the dome.
Ford and Jackson(?) were already in 'suits' when waking up Shaw to transport to cyro. They must have thought that Shaw was indeed a danger and took precautions on their own.

I agree with your take on Ford and Jackson being suited while prepping Shaw for cryostasis. Ford would no doubt realize that Shaw had the longest exposure to Holloway while Shaw was examining him in the Head Room pior to getting him out of there and on to the RTO.
Since David sedated Shaw and put her on the table again after revealing to herthe pregnancy, he could also have directed Ford to place Shaw in cryostasis, stating to Ford that he found a "contanimant" in Shaw as well. That would also back up Ford's observation of Shaw's prolonged exposure to Holloway in the Head Room.
