Paradise Movie Filmed In Advance

I have said this for a long time, I belive it was filmed in advance because it has been the trend to do so for a decade, starting with Lord of The Rings. It is a smart move and the best way to keep a cast together for clips, flashbacks etc.

I believed that 10 11 12 we can see the trailer about the sequel..

film names change all the time. "paradise" on a clap board doesnt go very far in convincing me that two movies were done at the same time. Also, the budget is a bit problematic. 130 million bucks for two ridley scott films (ridley is known for being a bit pricey with all of his practical effects etc etc.) just doesnt seem possible. Prometheus established the visual aesthetic of any subsequent films. There is absolutely zero reason to think that a second film would just be some rehashed sets and a ton of cgi. frankly, i doubt ridley would have anything to do with that (and it would just be a horrible idea anyways). If a second film has been made, there is no way the 130 million bucks was for both films. I so hope some of you are correct and somehow a second film was shot, but my gut (as well as most of the evidence we have at our disposal) just says no. What 10.11.12 is...i have no idea. I just cant imagine. They have built it up as some sort of big reveal. If its just some bullshit marketing for some toys and home video junk, the 10.11.12 campaign will COMPLETELY backfire on the studio/scott/the franchise etc. And frankly, scott and company cant afford to piss people off any more than they already have (just to qualify my statement, im a big fan of prometheus). I think the best we could possibly hope for on 10.11.12 is an announcement of an official greenlight on the sequel and some teaser viral material/scenes relating to said sequel. hmmm...i just had a thought. Probably not the case, but ill say it anyways. Even though my gut tells me that the mystery location/missing 3 months is just some sort of anomoly/cancelled shoot, its possible that location/time was used to film some of the supplemental/viral material that may (hopefully) be revealed on 10.11.12. Kinda like the TED conference stuff. Maybe they shot some teaser stuff to establish some motifs for the second film. Maybe we will get some kind of cryptic trailer that gives us a taste of what will be coming (but not be part of the actual sequel itself). Clearly, whatever 10.11.12 is, the whole idea was conceived of prior to the completion of prometheus (seeing as how 10.11.12 was placed at the end of prometheus). Like i said, i really dont think a sequel is in the can. And i am frankly worried about a sequel getting made at all. Having said that, in the interest of positive thinking, im going to suggest that 10.11.12 will reveal some footage that was shot for the sole purpose of getting people excited for another film that will be declared "green lit" on the same day. Sigh...now im going to go back to anticipating that 10.11.12 will reveal the release of the latest prometheus styled monopoly game.

You're right JoeyJoe. The evidence we have to work with is not enough to validate an entire film. But who's to say it "couldn't" happen? However I like your take better as a matter of fact - with 10.11.12 being the start of another set of virals used to further insinuate a sequel is "green lit". However, 3 months is a long time for shooting a few 5 minute viral clips. There has to be more to it. Ridley may be known for being pricey with his work - which leads me to believe that filming at least parts of PARADISE along side Prometheus would be so ideal and beneficial, financially for the studio to do. It'd be rather smart too as the studio would save a ton of money and profit exponentially on a sequel film. That's far more than 2 birds and 1 stone - that'd be a mega pay-day. I think you're right about some things Joe - mainly your take on the 10.11.12 campaign. I'm very eager to know what it's about! Could it be a "part of Prometheus" following the events of Prometheus where we see the inclusion of YUTANI? Perhaps it's a small vid showing back on Earth, Weyland and Yutani merging? Cause Yutani was definitely mentioned in the preceedin viral campaigns and updated film synopsis - yet no screen time in Prometheus itself. I wonder...

To be honest, i also agree the 10.11.12 better be big, else it'll turn very disapointing. I really want a longer Prometheus BluRay, i'd love a sequel as well. I see 2 things could happen there at the same time. Yutani arriving on lv 223. (or 2xx i forgot) meeting saint niklas. And Shaw and David getting to the Engineer world, where Ridley Scott already stated, they will NOT find what they thought they would. I hope to much of it, can't be good :s

Its definitely on the cards that something bigger could happen - but allot of things are pointing at a TV spin off i.e. the new viral actors looking like TV actors etc. so my money is still on that but I am hoping for a 2nd part - it would explain allot! Yutani is being held back for something I feel to but it could just also be for the next film in the future not this year. The line at the back of the art of prometheus book is interesting when you think about this whole situation quote: "I'm thinking about what the hell I might do for a Prometheus 2.." now if he is faking that it could become such a cool thing to do and look at after it comes out this year. But if hes not whoa it really was that bad? He doesn't have an over all idea wow - we are in trouble?! hmmmm...

I will say this, Ridley is a very savvy businessman, and he knows how the studios work. If the economics of filming the sequel made sense, he would have done it.

@ crabfart... A $130 million dollar movie being used to spearhead a TV spin off, in a period when virtually every other TV show is getting axed (Chuck, Fringe, Alcatraz, Stargate etc.)... I don't think so. Turning the Prometheus/Alien franchise into a TV serial is the worst possible idea EVER, even FOX aren't that stupid.

Maybe because there's lots of axed series there's a gap for it! Allot of those series were old and flagging new blood is needed! And FOX are that stupid :P but it could be a good idea if done right...it is strange that they have unknown actors for the virals when they used the real actors before for prometheus virals. But like I said I am unsure its close between something bigger and the TV series for me.

snorkel, they've just announced WONDER WOMAN tv-series (it was gonna be a film reboot) :) There's no reason why they couldn't announce a PROMETHEUS tv-series - call it PARADISE, job done. There is ENOUGH STORY to fill such a 'stargate universe' type narrative of 'where we came from' and 'what's the war like now'.

Wonder Woman was always a TV series, there's not enough of a fan base to warrant a movie, the only real reason to have a Wonder Woman movie was because of the possibility of Megan Fox in the title role, but after she walked out on the Transformers films she went from hot property to a low budget nobody.

That's a possibility but I think they wouldn't have time for that and it's impressive how everyone including ridley himself are keeping it secret... But, anyway, it's a possibility and it is supported by some facts like the way ridley talks about the sequel...it seems like he did it already...

he uses the phrase THIS PARTICULAR SCRIPT in the making-of-like Prometheus Featurette. Does this imply that there's ANOTHER SCRIPT that he's used already that he's yet to be interviewed about? rubs chin...

If the sequel is also rushed in plot like the prometheus movie then I doubt if it will even manage to stay in theaters for a week or so.

My thoughts regarding the 3 months filming in Spain, the production sets for Prometheus and Juggernaut, the plot for Prometheus 2 and the entire acting crew, production/filming crew keeping everything hush-hush is this: Surely P2 story will be mostly about the trip to the Engineers home-world on the Juggernaut w/Shaw, David, perhaps 4 sleeping engineers and a Deacon or 2. The entire plot location will be similar to Alien, 90% of that story takes place on the Nostromo, hence 90% of the P2 plot takes place on the Juggernaut. Also in the artwork of Prometheus, the ship Magellan looks like there are 2 large cylinder type drums mounted on bottom of the ship in front of the elevator controlled cargo bay. Those 2 drums I’d think are weapon cylinders, perhaps containing missiles. As a note, Ferdinand Magellan was an explorer in 1519 to 1522 w/a fleet of 5 ships, the flag ship Trinidad, the San Antonio, the Conception, the Santiago, and the Victoria.... The Magellan spacecraft/space probe was used to radar map Venus in 1989.... So perhaps a interstellar ship called Magellan will be the other part of the story in P2, hence the production/filming set of Prometheus can be re-used for the Magellan ship... So my best guess, the plot consist of the Juggernaut in route to the Engineer’s home-world, Deacon is terrorizing the crew, including the Engineers on the Juggernaut. The Magellan ship arrives to LV-223 to only find out they need to now track down Shaw after finding out that there is only death at LV-223. Even Vickers might even be in P2, if she survived being crush, hey it’s Hollywood, anything and everything is possible. Did I mention that I bet that P2 is already been completed, I guess that was the point I was trying to make in the first place BTW I mentioned awhile back that I believed P2 was already completed or near completion at the time I posted back in mid June....

fader, unless I'm sorely mistaken (and I could be) the 'second Juggernaut' took off before DEACON was born. Right? Anyway, there's no guarantee that Shaw/David are on that second juggernaut that left LV-223

First off...it has been said since the beginning of this grand adventure we are on that there would be two films "Right!". There has been no information to public release that they are not going to be making a second film. After watching Pro-method us 3 X a cliffhanger...I would say most peoples disappointment is that we want to see more cause certainly there is more to see! It will be interesting what is released with the DVD and the most painfully/suspiciously delayed Aliens Colonial Marines game.

@ freeplanet and joeyjoe The point I am trying to make is that certainly there will be some plot point of Shaw and David traveling in the Juggernaut, and with the Juggernaut set already in place during the making of Prometheus, one would have to think a good portion of P2 may have been already filmed along with the filming Prometheus. The other point is the drawings of the Magellan ship, that the interior of the Magellan ship would most likely be identical to the Prometheus ship, which that set was already in place, so using the same set to film the interior of Magellan ship could easily take place while filming Prometheus. And that’s if the Magellan ship is in P2, who knows? Alien movie was all about the xeno being on the Nostromo, it’s my assumption that P2 will be primarily about the travels of Shaw and David with a story that parallels w/Alien so to speak. For the moment who knows what is on the Juggernaut ship that Shaw and David took.... Engineers...?, Deacons...? Xenos...? Who knows? it's simply just my assumption

They probably filmed only part of the next movie before they tore down the set with the Space Jockey chair, cargo hold, etc... I mean, how much of the movie (Paradise) can be inside the Juggernaut Shaw and David8 took off in? Probably not too much, I'd think.

@ Fader, The Magellan was the name for the humans ship before its name was changed to Prometheus, as explained in the Art of Prometheus book.
