what bothered me the first (and only so far) time I saw Prometheus (apart from the omission the statement, "Prometheus has landed," was the arrangement of the Silo Room where the Big Head lived. The Big Head that was THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM, Alien pun intended. [img]http://i.imgur.com/rGom7.jpg[/img] In the silo room, oops David opened the door, the (canopic?) jars containing the black goo were arranged in a manner that played to the back-brain where images of the Alien egg room lived. It was a visual gag; same as the derelict, same as the spacejockey chair, same as the alien mural --- or was it? And why were the Prometheus jars all of different size, when the Alien eggs were all the same size? What I'm getting at is this, "Were there different sorts of black goo in each of the different sized jars?" Was LV-223 [url=http://www.prometheus-movie.com/community/forums/topic/7023]a biostore[/url], rather than a military dump*? * gah, but then you've got the whole, "Orrery says a trip to Earth is in order," maybe that's to REPLENISH EARTH starved to death by Corporate War greed; organic diversity reduced to nothing but humans and concrete. Maybe the Engineers REALLY WERE OUR EQUIVALENT OF GOD or GODS, maybe the Earth sent out a distress signal of Diversity Collapse and the Engineers were just re-filling the well? Replenishers, sacrificers, devout and creative.

I didn't find the difference between the containers bothersome, personally. I saw that they are not visually identical - I took it as a strong suggestion that it is more likely than it otherwise would have been that what they contain is not identical, between them, either. That would make a little more sense to me as this stuff seems very potent and there seem to be thousands of jars of it: for all of the jars to be containing exactly the same thing, while in slightly different containers, I would find sad. I don't see that as necessarily having a bearing on whether the site is a bio-store, or dump, or anything else. I do see it as reducing the likelihood that they are directly related to the eggs - as the eggs [i]are[/i] visually identical and a direct correlation of visually non-identical containers to corresponding eggs which [i]are[/i] visually identical would seem a little peculiar to me... Not that any of it seems to much matter - considering that a person is being asked to accept that, (when they don't appear to be immune, themselves), the Blue Super-Beings just have jars of their ultra-toxic, mutagenic juices prettily arranged all over their floor like so many skittles......doesn't seem too much of a surprise that they had some kind of tragic incident in the place, when that's the set-up - and that they're now all stone dead.

For a race that is supposedly millions of years more advanced than we are, I find the fact that the installation had such poor containment protocols to be very telling as to the true nature of the beings that built it. Once the engineers lost containment those doors wouldn't open again if it were a bioweapons plant. There would have been sterilization mechanisms built into the chamber to prevent a cascading spread of the infestation. The fact that David got the door open in about 20 seconds doesn't bode well for their security protocols, or encryption algorhythms. Instead I began to think that the contents were stolen, haphazardly arranged and preprogrammed for a massive release upon the chamber being opened. Not that the original purpose of the structure was this, merely that it was repurposed by a group of engineers with an agenda that wasn't exactly in keeping with a benevolent, all-knowing race of advanced super beings. What better way to ensure that whomever violated this chamber of secrets was greeted with a grisley end than to place your most lethal samples about the room? If the engineer in stasis put the installation on lockdown and awoke to find these creatures all around him, who can say perhaps he believed they were part of the insurgents that broke into the facility (for him) just minutes earlier. Then of course he would try to stop them from spreading this contagion at all costs. Not what I choose to believe but hmmmm, one can only conjecture.

certainly there are clear differences in size between the urn, may contain different types of biological weapons or prototypes. It is also curious that the contents of the urn of David not spilled on the floor. but Are all the urns contain biological weapons? On the other hand there is now an interesting [url=http://www.prometheus-movie.com/community/forums/topic/9463#104893]thread[/url] with some interesting analogies between the two murals in the vaulted room and an interesting theory about the green glass. Perhaps the creature of the mural painted on the ceiling is a portrait of an extinct race of monsters and then collected the DNA of Engineers the green crystal (amber style) and the end result is the mural with the image of the xenomorph.
