Paradise already filmed?

Like it because I don't believe we are finished with LV 223 just yet for the points you raised, more temples and what appears to be a lost mission which people will be curious when there is no report/return from Prometheus. Why introduce the Deacon if your not going to do anything with it ???

We've talked about this before. I could have sworn there was another thread on it but maybe we were talking about it in another thread. I do think that they have shot certain elements involving set pieces that they already had built but I seriously doubt that the whole film is done. When the film came out and everyone saw the whatis10/11/12.com site during the credits many speculated that it was the dvd release date but that was nixed pretty quickly. I've always thought that they were going to announce that they had some of the movie shot and that they're going ahead with a sequel. Man, I wish I could remember what thread we talked about this in as I had more ideas and other members did as well. I'm going to see if I can find it.

Here's something that could be somewhat of a revelation in regards to some of the sequel already being filmed. From the Prometheus wiki page... I guess they could have used the water tank for some of the opening sequence but I don't think so. Don't recall any beach in the film either. The bulk of the film's shoot seems to be summed up in the rest of the wiki pages pricipal photography section. This seems to be 3 months of shooting that wasn't accounted for in the film. Add that to the filming that they could have and would have needed to do within the sets that were actually shown in the film, mainly the Juggernaut, and there could be quite a bit of the sequel in the can as you put it.

However, from what I've read and heard the sequels were going to have Theron and Weyland in flashback sequences and such. Hence hiring such big actors for such small parts and with one in old age make up instead of just hiring an older actor to begin with. Having all the film "in the can" already with nothing whatsoever leaaking out to the public would be a heavy order indeed. It would be a great marketing campaign and the first of it's kind. And there's no reason not to believe, in this day and age, where film franchises are filmed consecutively with the publics knowledge that they are being filmed in that way, that secretive Scott couldn't pull this off. At least for as long as he has so far. It really is all a mystery. I just have to believe thay whatis10/11/12 is all about the sequel in one way or the other.

@Engineering Yeah, read that somewhere else on here as well. Long time to be shooting scenes that don't make it into the movie and in this economic climate I don't think Fox nor RS would throw money at something unless it can be used somehow.

Really interesting points there guys - nice detective work and research! Keep the ideas coming. I've edited the title of the thread to "Paradise in the works" from "Paradise in the can" - cause "in the can" to me sounds like "trashed" haha. As for this theory - I agree it's odd to think that filming locations were used - but never shown in the actual film. I don't think Scott is one to completely scrap scenes like that - he knows what he's doing and everything is done with a purpose in mind. There is definitely more to this.

Like "Yeah, we spent a bunch of money making a set and developing this great final sequence but then at the last minute, right before shooting had to scrap it because it would have been too expensive." Like Fox doesn't have analysts that can estimate how much something's going to cost to shoot BEFORE they spend money getting ready to shoot it. That's funny. Maybe something like that could have happened in 1979 on Alien but I'm pretty sure in 2012 on Prometheus they could figure out that something was going to be too expensive before actually throwing money at it. What it sounds like is a ruse to hide that they actually did film there. Secretive Scotty is Ridley's new name for me.

Most of those who buy into the theory that there is already another film in the can/in the works are probably already familiar with some of the numbers related to the filming of "Prometheus" that I've recently posted in some other threads. Simply put: how and why does it take 163 days to shoot 82 days worth of content for a film that relied more heavily on physical sets than on CGI? The number 163 doesn't even take into account the shoot in Jordan and the "alleged" shoot/non-shoot in Spain? 82 days of downtime on a 163 day film shoot means that almost 3 months were spent NOT shooting. Is there a single person here who thinks that Fox and/or Scott would accept the notion/reality that 50% of a roughly 6 month shoot be wasted on down time? This is from the film's wiki page: "In July 2011, Lindelof stated that the film would be relying on practical effects, and employing CGI generally for on-set pre-visualization of external space visuals." While the Spanish shoot/non-shoot is its own enigmatic mystery I have yet to hear anyone try to answer the "163/82" equation in a manner that explains that much waste taking place when even before the film was in production Fox was reportedly concerned about the budget of the film in regards to it potentially having an R-rating.

Some people I have talked to have stated they thought doing any work might be against union rules and that keeping it s secret would be very difficult because they would have to disclose it as 2 projects. Either that or some very creative lying is going to be coming out of fox. Also the contracts for that would be insane. Basically if they did anything for a second one there is nobody returning[as they are all working on other projects at this point in time]. The legal red tape, and keeping that secret in this day in age is near impossible. Now if they have managed to do it, I will be more then impressed. Blown away. Completely. I more think they are going to do an IMAX release with some stuff they ran out of time to finish done and re-release a longer, harder "R" version. Maybe some of this stuff will re-appear as they will have time and some more money to finish it properly?

What we need to do is look into some of the other crew and see if we can find any "red herring" projects that they are registered under. Not the actors but the physical crew themselves. Or see if any of them were union contracted for 2 movies. It might have happened. But I really doubt it. That is a lot to keep hidden.

@synthetic_69...I have somehow missed your posts regarding the "lost shooting time" and find it pretty damn interesting. Thanks for posting. @Shane...For some idiotic reason I had never even considered whatis10/11/12 having to do with Fox releasing a different cut of the film. Makes total sense but you would think that they already had it planned and if you think that then you would have to think that they would have went ahead and released a pg-13 cut to begin with. They would have to do it that way if they were concerned with money. When the pg-13 rumours were storming I brought up the question as to why Fox couldn't release a pg-13 and R rated version at the same time? Are there rules against it? It seems it would be the best of both worlds for everyone. So while I think it's possible that whatis10/11/12 could be about a theatrical release of a different cut I think the R rating of the first cut makes that pretty impractical.

Remember that one of the sets was looked like the interior of the Prometheus but it was labeled Magellan. Could this be the search and rescue ship looking for survivors on LV 223 or a Yutani product? Also remember there was a lot of people also saying that they had seen a number of extras dressed up in costumes that resemble the xeno head design eating lunch around May of 2011.

Chris, I don't (necessarily) mind the title change, would have been nice to have been 'asked' first, but IN THE CAN (while it might also sound like one's on the toilet) is a standard Hollywood phrase meaning PRINCIPAL SHOOTING DONE, no? As in DONE, completo - finito, ready for sfx and audio and RELEASE. I (wonder) if this'l turn out to be the truth - fingers X'd

Chris, another version of the film??? Wouldn't it be PERFECT, in a sense of Corporate Collusion and Fog Of War, if all of the incidents in PROMETHEUS were the testimony of David via his 'cracked' holographic memory unit? In this way A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STORY could have actually taken place on LV-223 (this could be reinforced by data from rival Yutani who never landed but SURVEILLED during the landing of Vickers' party) ... will Paradise be cross-referenced with the TRIAL of David's return from Planet Paradise [i]sans Shaw[/i]? An actual court case on THE ABILITY OF AN ARTIFICIAL PERSON TO TELL THE TRUTH???> Wow!

a theatrical re-release, like Fox did with AVATAR? Cheap shot money grabbers.

I think given the lack of promotion on this, we're looking at a possible theatrical extended cut on 10.11.12. I don't think the studio would want to sit on a secret production that they already have in the can if the release date is less than 3 months away. It's just not economically feasible. I just don't think it's possible for a studio to keep a sequel like this a secret. Like one poster said, I'd be floored if this were true.
