great observations! I really enjoyed the engineer impregnation scene. For such an ostensibly emotionless being, it was interesting to imagine how humbling and world-view shattering the experience must have been for the engineer (for several reasons). This seemingly god-like creature (clearly not literally, but they seem to view themselves this way) is being overtaken by something he was instrumental in creating (really...the engineers' death occurs as a result of two beings that his species had a hand in creating) . Im sure the engineer was shocked by what was happening.

Yes the Engineer was desparate,,especially realizing that his mission was ending..It still seems toi me me that he had some confusion as to what was really going on with the humans at his base.
I had not thought of any 'Jaws' connection..

Worst part of the movie...
Hopefully we see LOTS and LOTS of more Engineers in the second movie.
The Engineer really shouldn't have died. Although i KEEP going back to the Deacon's birth, and i keep thinking about what it could mean. And their connection...
I'm about to resurrect my Engineer-Xenomorph connection thread... lol.
On that note. More Engineers. MOAAAAAAAAAAR!

@joeyjoe:
I agree, the Engineer definitely had a shocked expression on his face when he was grabbed. He surely wasn't expecting that outcome!
@keep-itreal:
Although, having said that, they are alien, after all. How do you read the expression on the face of the Engineer at the start of the movie, for example?
Personally, I've got a feeling that Engineers are fearless creatures. They can clearly get angry, but I can't imagine them scared, myself.
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent
