ALI3N
MemberOvomorphSep-11-2012 11:49 PMRemember in prometheus, the guy that got infected by the proto face hugger snake? What if Weyland Yutani decided to collect these things from the planet, as the marine soldiers and crew collect the snakes, they bring it back to the ship. As one of the crew accidently gets bitten when they were experimenting on it, he eventually begins to mutate (Prometheus scene where the guy changes to a zombie). Eventually he begins killing most of the crew as the other 4 remain trying to stop him. He eventually changes into a almost complete xenomorph. One coward decides to turn bad as he escapes the ship in a pod an steals the infectious fluids from the snake hugger, heading to earth. Back on the ship, the three fight their way in order to destroy the alien. The infected man eventually turns into a real xenomorph. The crew decides to decides who's willing to sacrifice themselves in order to send the thing out to space. They successfully escape the alien from the ship, but it was the man instead of the alien that survives. The crew eventually decides to blow up the ship. As they prepare to create a bomb, the alien comes closer, the two last humans say their last message to earth, as the bomb explodes and kills them and the alien. Back on Earh, the bad guy gives Yutani the poison, which she looks at him an evil smile. Camera turns black.

Just melt away eventually? Of course not, it's a Lindelof plot device that "needs no explaining" as the guy is too lazy to think of something new)
I still dunno why they bothered setting this in the Alien universe, I personally think it would have been a good movie if it had been slated as something original. But no.
I'm really starting to lose my faith in anyone in Hollywood.

MemberOvomorphSep-12-2012 12:53 AMPrometheus is not a reboot, this is more like a spin off / prequel. Also Ridley Scott said that the Juggernaut from Alien is thousands of years old...then we can say that the deacons is a new generation of monsters.
BTW We can not be sure if the sequel will establish some kind of connection with the events of Alien, after all Prometheus apparently tries to explore its own mythology.

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphSep-12-2012 7:31 AMThat is a good point Mapusoul BUT it STARTED as an Alien movie first, was MARKETED like an Alien movie (don't tell me it wasn't either, because when I saw PROMETHEUS appear on the screen during the first teaser trailer, I started paying attention. Then I saw THAT SHIP I had had questions about for 20 odd years CRASHING.
To me, it was proof I was about to find out why that Engineer (The Space Jockey) was there on that planetoid in that crashed ship with a hole in his chest. FINALLY! An ANSWER!!! WHO was that guy, WHY was he flying that ship with a hold full of nasty eggs, and WHAT were the circumstances leading up to that point? HOORAY, I CAN STOP OBSESSING AND PONDER SOMETHING NEW!!!
Then I saw................ This.
Disappointed is an understatement in this case. As it was for quite a majority of people that had hoped for the same answers as I had, I believe.

MemberDeaconSep-12-2012 9:45 AMTo me its seems Ridley wanted to visit the Engineer Race, i would assume the original draft would be to explore this race and then also explain events of Alien and then allow Ridley to move onto the Engineers in more detail.
Lindeloff came on board and added a whole new concept and that was the Engineers had a hand in our creation, and this is a plot that Ridley loved.
So that Ridleys vision really was to now not explain the Space Jockey and how the Xeno came to be, but now with more scope and back story to the Space Jockey being the Humanoid Engineers who had a hand in our creation.
I therefore think that Prometheus is not the Story Ridley is wanting and trying to tell...
Prometheus is the prologue to the story he wishes to tell.
So this movie will drop hints about.
The men behind the Suit the Engineers.
That they played some part in our creation.
That they then visited us and made invites.
That then we did something to displease them and so they then made plans to wipe us out.
The movie then also gives some connections to substances they used to create life on Earth that carried over Engineer DNA to micro organisms on Earth that then evolved to us, and its connection somehow with another substance that does similar only seed Xeno DNA.
Thus giving subtle hints at the connection between Engineer and Xeno, and how there experiments could lead to the creation of a Organism very similar but not the same.
I think Prometheus 2 would follow more of who these Space Jockey/Engineers are....
Where are they from?
Why they created us?
What else did they create?
Who created them?
What was their Agenda?
What became of this race?
And i feel thats why some scenes in Prometheus was cut, as they would uncover some of that Mystery.
I then think Prometheus 2 may slightly touch upon when/how/why LV 223 was created and maybe why they wanted us wiped out.
I feel this would move onto Prometheus 3 that will basically cover any Wars the Race has, the downfall of LV 223 and maybe the other Engineers out in the Galaxy.
And at the end we may get more answers and links as to when LV 223 was being used to create the Urns and then a more clear link to the Xeno and Why.

MemberOvomorphSep-24-2012 4:08 PM Cypher, your argument is a failure and a dead end, where you would take it. The movie/story is intriguing.
