MemberOvomorphOct-18-2012 9:41 PMThe xenomorph. Throughout the film he is identified with Jesus Christ. There are hints that Engineers adore and consider him a superior being. But Does the plot make sense? Do engineering worship a being that they are able to
produce in mass thanks to the black glue? And do worship a being who hunts and slaughters them? Why?
The murals that expedition found in one of the rooms of the pyramid.
In one of them found an engineer with the open side and seems to caress a xenomorph, like a creature forced to take a stand similar to the most famous painting found at the Sistine Chapel. On the other one appears our old familiar
xenomorph. Did you get caught? On one side, the drawer of life. The chest open. Jesus Christ. The Vatican. The god who dies for the benefit of his creatures. I sacrifice myself so that you may live. On the other hand, death. Satan.

MemberOvomorphOct-18-2012 10:00 PMThe second mural (door ?) behind the green urn at the back- if you increase the image size - look close enough by moving back away from the image -- you will see the altar top forms a lower lip and the point of the xenomorphs toes makes the horizontal bridge of a nose - if you look higher above the obvious eyes you see the high horns and the mid horns with a head post in the middle
Look up the old images of Baphomet online. The post at the top of Baphomets head is the flame from the upward horn-- look closely again
at the mural - the designers want you to see them as evil by burying an occult symbol in the mural
What looks like an open mouth of a xeno at the very top is actually the flame from the top of the post
Of course old images not only have the pentagram but the entwined
snakes of medical knowledge, both male and female parts and is himself a hybrid.
Ridley always says furious or infernal ---the temple is a satanic type
sacrificial altar or a the very least the designers' tongue in cheek or perhaps based on a Giger drawing which uses both wings and demonic
characters to go with his sexual drawings of the Alien
The LV 223 Engineers are fallen and produce fallen beings I believe and the opening scene engineers were good (I could be dead wrong however)
Just a jot- not trying to be a know it all :) - I am sure someone
else has this already figured out

Jesus came so we would have life and life more abundantly. The Xeno comes
that we would die and die more abundantly. The 2000 years ago, Christmas,
references are alluding to a counterpoint to God.

Welcome!, as you said, seems like a pentagram for sure, Satan, Antichrist, not Christ. Once again Scott he's just leading you on, he plays with the ambiguity and symbolism, geometric and visceral.
The most intriguing aspect of the case is Weyland role, if you watch the hologram sequence slowly, Weyland and dog are clearly representing the fool tarot card. It's meaning= as the Fool's Journey. (from Wiki)
Do you get it?

MemberDeaconOct-19-2012 6:53 AMWell i thought the Mural backed up my theory on the Urns....
AS when i saw it and when you consider the original in the trailers had the Sacrificial Bowl in front of it, then what i saw was a SACRIFICIAL POSE like that of Christ as that symbol is to remind us that Christ Sacrificed himself for mankind.
connect that with the Sacrificial Bowl, and it led me to think it was linked with my theory where the Xenos where held in the room behind the Mural and they was Sacrificed just like the Engineer at the start of the movie using same process to break down the Xeno DNA and collect it in the Urns.
But the latest clues by Fox via their Virals, well now kinda puts rest to my theory and goes with the one substance theory and well thus makes lots of holes.

MemberOvomorphOct-19-2012 12:29 PMI asked on another thread (unanswered) if anyone saw any mileage in interpreting the Deacon in the wall relief as a crucifixion image. I originally thought this might be a red herring, but I’m starting to think it may not be so far-fetched. The motif may turn out to be key if sacrifice/reconciliation/salvation is to be the ultimate theme of the franchise.
Compare/contrast with Masaccio’s Holy Trinity fresco.
I’d be disappointed, but not totally surprised if this is simply a Damon Lindelof piece of nonsense thrown in for no good reason other than to confuse us.

MemberOvomorphOct-19-2012 2:29 PMIt's most unlikely that Lindelof had any hand in the art direction that led to the Xeno bas relief.
Whatever it depicts, it doesn't have to be nonsense if it fails to fit in with tired old notions such as God, Satan or Jesus. Try thinking that the movie doesn't represent any of these things at all, but holds far deeper mysteries.
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

MemberOvomorphOct-19-2012 5:52 PMIt doesn’t have to be nonsense I agree, but Lindelof does his best to make it so. I'm pleased at your confidence that he would have no input in this, but if it is being used to reinforce the plot you could be wrong [...I hope not].
If there are to be deeper mysteries then you have convinced me that Lindelof has no hand in it though, as he is about as “deep” as a puddle.

MemberOvomorphOct-19-2012 7:55 PM @ the OP:
Where did you get these hints that the Engineers adore the xenomorphs? Adore??? You sure you want to use such a term?? I don't think you know what you're talking about.

MemberOvomorphOct-22-2012 8:26 AMprobably was there one more mural, "birth", so we have "creation", "birth" and "crucifixion", I have no picture right now, maybe appears on film when mural changed.
They called it "life":

MemberOvomorphOct-22-2012 8:48 AMSo do we think it goes something like: the Engineers have targeted Earth for annihilation as we have disappointed them in a big way, about 2,000 years ago in crucifying what Scott has referred to as an “emissary” (perhaps Jesus Christ?).
We also note that the day of the Deacon’s (or servant/messenger) ‘birth’ is Christmas Day, invoking the theme of anti-Christ. Elizabeth Shaw cannot conceive and yet she produces an alien being. [In the Bible the Virgin Mary’s cousin Elisabeth also conceived a son (John The Baptist) in her old age, despite being barren].
Where they are going with this I can’t quite tell...

MemberOvomorphOct-22-2012 9:32 AM@IapetusSM ; In addition to the cross is not unique from Catholicism, the Egyptians have, Greeks, etc.. The Orphists represented their god, Orpheus, crucified, centuries before Christians. And to be more exact, the Christian God supposedly is a derivation of the Jewish God, right? this is appointed by the letters YHVH and has no symbolic representation, because the Torah and in your case, the Old Testament says very clearly that God can not represent in any way. They are all very respectable beliefs, of course, but in my opinion (look), I think it's cruel the way as Jesus is remembered, also is a way to keep making people feel guilty.

MemberOvomorphOct-22-2012 9:54 AM Except for Shaw..I didn't see any other charactor display any religious symbals....
good or bad in human understanding..
The Murals my fit into the religious displays...but only in our human understanding.
If you believe in God,,then you must believe in the Satan..
What about if there is only the here and now?..Deal with it,,
I believe in now..
Where do the human existance come from? Humans chasing what seems to be a path to God,,well ..it will be an endless journey..
Maybe Shaw should go back to her scientific training and just observe what is going on in the Prometheus world..and rep[ort what she finds..
Be choicelessly aware as you move through life
