MemberFacehuggerOct-25-2012 11:00 AMHello all!
In the original Alien we see Dallas, Brett, et al in the process of being coccooned.
Ripley then torches them all.
The Nostromo landed on LV-426 & showed no life forms, I think?
My theory is this:
1) Infected Space Jockey has Alien burst from chest.
2) SJ Alien coccoons life forms found on LV-426.
3) Eggs in cargo hold are coccooned LV-426 victims.
I know we have had multiple explanations about the eggs being the'cargo' but it did not make sense to me?
You may fire when ready!

MemberFacehuggerOct-25-2012 11:15 AMWe are also assuming, & have always been assuming, that the original Space Jockey was the only life form on the Derelict, too?

MemberOvomorphOct-25-2012 11:17 AMYes the nostromo didnt find life forms because the eggs have to be activated(got little forcefield thing). Thats a good explanation about the eggs because otherwise they would be urns. Maybe the eggs are from some weird alien bug that went into an urn and got in the black goo, thats a wild one there lol

MemberFacehuggerOct-25-2012 11:21 AMI was just thinking about the egg process, and if there is any explanation?
I guess the SJ may have had some crew members on board that were coccooned, too?

MemberOvomorphOct-25-2012 2:17 PMRemember that Aliens introduced the queen laying eggs, which seems to be the route taken by the traditional Alien franchise - eggs ---> facehugger ---> chest-burster ---> Alien. Cuddles and the Deacon seem to be from a much different mold (or goo, depending on your bent).

MemberNeomorphOct-25-2012 3:46 PMThis idea as been thrown around alot and it's an idea that crossed my mind after seeing the directors cut of ALIEN when it first came out on DVD, where it is an actual scene of Dallas and Brett in the process of mutating into eggs brought on by the "Xenomorph". The scene is very disturbing and makes James Camerons' Queen idea feel like the easter bunny leaving chocolate eggs on your doorstep.
There are several theories i have regarding the eggs but here is just one of them:
The eggs look like they've been PLACED in the silo and they have a protective layer over them, so that, imo, rules out the queen laying them because that wouldn't make any sense unless she knew where the controls for the protective layer were and how to use it. Maybe it would make sense if the protective layer was there before she layed the eggs but why would it be there in the first place?
So i've come to the conclussion that the eggs are the result of the engineers testing the black stuff on primative humaniods (we already know from the documentary that Fifield is turning into a "xenomorph" and the original lifecycle mural by H R Giger, that was meant to be shown in ALIEN depicts the eggs being used on primative humanoids)
So this is how it might play out:
Primative humanoids are collected from Earth or from another planet that the engineers have seeded. The plan is to transport them to LV223 for experiments (they don't conduct the experiment on the primatives planet because they don't want to infect the entire planet). When the SJ arrives at LV223 with his silo full of primates, they seal the doors and then commence with the experiment, BUT, something goes wrong, one or maybe more of the engineers infect themselves accidentally with the black stuff. the black stuff then eventually turns the engineer/s into "xenomorph/s". The "xenomorph/s" then cocoon the primates turning them into eggs. The SJ from ALIEN is the hero who volunteers to get the cargo of eggs off LV223. The SJ tries to fly the derelict as far away from LV223 as possible, but he gets face hugged, lands on the closest planetoid (LV426) and sends out the warning before he pops.
They obviously didn't realise how deadly it was.
Just a thought :-)
EDIT: btw, great thread! I wish there were more threads like this about the BIG questions that Prometheus and Alien poses instead of trivial things.
The poster was good though!

MemberOvomorphOct-25-2012 5:04 PMIntresting, Necronom 4. I'm going to have to review the director's cut of Alien once again because I don't recall the scene you mentioned with both Dallas and Brett. And I'm not sure what you mean by "mutating into eggs" above. But, given the fact that I couldn't remember where I put my keys this morning simply means that my mental acuity is - umm, suspect :)

MemberOvomorphOct-25-2012 5:12 PMThe queen xeno from Aliens probably laid the eggs, after she emerged from the space jockey's chest. They didn't explain where the queen came from, only that "something must be laying these eggs", as Ripley says. I read somewhere that James Cameron created the queen and took the film in this direction, whereas Ridley Scott's original idea for the eggs were in fact that they were the final result of people put into the cocoons. There never was going to be a queen xeno, neither would one be necessary for their reproduction.

MemberFacehuggerOct-26-2012 10:13 AM@Necronom4 - I like it!
@Visionary Alpha - YES! James Cameron messed it all up!
We know Ridley never wanted a 'Queen' & this is his universe! I saw Alien a week ago on Cinemax & the version now shown is the director's cut! The cocooning scene made me start to think this way about the eggs!

MemberOvomorphOct-29-2012 4:31 AMWell this works for me.
I say that a queen can exists and also prey can be morphed into eggs.
They have do be able to create more eggs until a queen exists.
The object of this creature is to exterminate life forms. To me having the queen speeds up the reproduction process quite a bit.
Maybe they can morph a queen containing egg. This is a perfect organism.
I am guessing they wiped out the SJ.

MemberOvomorphOct-29-2012 4:40 AMRiddle me this:
Why do the SJs want to destroy humans from earth?

meshuggah
MemberOvomorphApr-06-2013 12:21 PM^ 'Why' shouldn't have to pertain to the engineers' motives; earth is a petri dish among many petri dishes, they simply wanted to experiment further and not necessarily 'destroy'. The creation of life is nothing special and can be done on a whim.
I think it is pretty obvious what happened in regard to the derelict on LV-426; the juggernaut that parked on LV-426 never had 'eggs' to begin with, it had urns/ampoules stored in precisely the same way as the urns in the chamber in Prometheus. Quite simply, they got out of control; becoming unstable due to the atmosphere being interrupted just like in Prometheus. Recall the urns literally melting from the top; black ooze and liquid metal reacting like liquid mercury, this is the beginning of the process. The larvae in the black goop is incubated and facehuggers develop; we saw what happened when the DNA is transmitted sexually in humans, larvae is developed in human incubators, we get a Trilobite and Deacon; offshoots of the xenomorph DNA.
Remember Ridley in an interview never mentioned 'eggs' in regard to the derelict's cargo; only that it got 'out of control' and only mentioned 'bacteriological drums of shit' in regard to the weapons of the Engineers.
Isn't it obvious?

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2013 6:50 PM@cerulean blue .My thought exactly . The idea of the xeno infecting its victims in order to change them into an egg changes the whole alien story. The purpose of our creation changes too, we are just xeno media.

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2013 3:22 AMwhat a lovely thread - getting the Perfect Organism theory well and truly broadcast.
I suspect Space Trucker (as I like to call that 5m Elephantine creature welded-from-maturity into his Hyperspace Telescope Chair) was carrying Humanoid Traffic as cargo, not EGGS i.e. Abducted People from seeded worlds. I think the Alien-deleted Dallas scene was a MASSIVE (if unintentional i.e. clumsy) COVER-UP (or erasure) in terms of real motivation of the Xeno 'race of one'.
Will someone PLEASE get hold of both Alien and Prometheus and RE-EDIT them so that Queen Beetch is discounted from all future concepting? I mean, I like the roller-coaster-ness of Aliens (saw it in a packed cinema on release day, and it was a superb funfair ride) but it BROKE the dominance of the Alien xeno - it became a hive beast, subservient, weakened.
I also susupect that the Ampule Room might be a STORE of WORLDS i.e. not a 'store of weapons' as the Captain surmised in Prometheus. Each ampule contains the concentrated life-juice of an entire harvested planet. That might explain the pomp of that place, the worship of the eternal xeno altar.
