That's weird, i've just watched star wars on the tv (the original that's now called episode 4 lol) Obe Wan does remind me of the engineer in the opening scene of prometheus and Ridley did say that he didn't really like sci fi until he saw star wars, so who knows, maybe.

Huh. Well I guess you never know, but I doubt it. I don't like those things for the same reason I don't like any mass of CGI characters, they're just a complex bunch of shapes flying by! I just watched Avengers for the first time and there's this otherworldly army that you never get a good look at because they're flashing past in a CGI hail storm of visual information. Will this ever go away? Prometheus is so subtle, so tasteful in its presentation, and I can't help but wonder if that's part of the problem, it's not a digital orgy. I mean, it IS, but SOLID. I certainly hope the sequel continues in this vein.

In terms of Star Wars..(and for that matter 'Star Trek..Wrath of Kahn)..for me the 2nd released episode was better than the original... I do hope this is thye case and it doesn't mean to reflect poorly on Promethetheus.. Having said that...I hate trying to compare,,one movie (outside of Alien) to any other,.. The human mind can't help it's self..as it struggles to make some sense of the world around us. Let this movie speak for it's self..and see what the journey of Shaw and David will lead to..
