MemberOvomorphDec-06-2012 10:17 AM Using the Weyland Industries timeline as a reference it seems to me that many of the presumptions of our movie were in fact planned events by Weyland.
*Identitying a remote planet that might support human life that happens to be in the same Universe as Alien and the prequel Prometheus
*Skilled in Atmosphere Geneation and discovering that then pyramids are atmoshere generators
*Possibly leading our explorers Shaw/Holloway from site to site to discover the caves 'star maps' the assumption being an 'invitaion'. It was an invitation alright from Weyland!
There are others,
Ir doesn't account for 'Goo' so the Engoineer takes creadit for bringing this element into the pur movie storyline.
Somewhow, someway Weyland and the Engineers were working together with goo. I can't explain how this occurs. Seeing David 'steal' the ampule from the Big Head Room and immediately went to human testing tells me that he has some knowledge that something is going to happen when the goo used.
When I say hoax I don't mean the movie was a fraud. I am saying that the storyline has not disclosed all of the back story leading to the adventure and charactors we see in our movie.
RS has left the Weyland Timeline(and other posted items I have not yet explored) as an open back story for those that are true fans of this movie.
Ingenious.

MemberOvomorphDec-06-2012 12:51 PMSorry, Indy. Your post is lacking clarity.
*Identitying a remote planet that might support human life that happens to be in the same Universe as Alien and the prequel Prometheus
What are you trying to say? Weyland Corp discovered and were in the process of terraforming a great many planets.
*Skilled in Atmosphere Generation and discovering that the pyramids are atmoshere generators
Again, what are you trying to say? Atmosphere Generators are an essential element if you're in the business of terraforming.
*Possibly leading our explorers Shaw/Holloway from site to site to discover the caves 'star maps' the assumption being an 'invitation'.
I don't know how much resources Weyland provided to Shaw & Holloway prior to the mission, but if Weyland had a keen interest in such matters, he would have been in a position to provide vast resources. Like Haddon in the movie Contact.
Somewhow, someway Weyland and the Engineers were working together with goo. I can't explain how this occurs.
I have no idea how you come to this conclusion.
Seeing David 'steal' the ampule from the Big Head Room and immediately went to human testing tells me that he has some knowledge that something is going to happen when the goo used.
Yes. I had an inkling that the goo might do something, and I'm not a robot with an IQ of 350!

MemberFacehuggerDec-06-2012 10:52 PMI have a similar idea but not sure on how to explain it. Basically the engineers gave humans the cave paintings as maps. Engineers were getting everything ready for when humans would be technological advanced as to visit them on that moon.
Engineers were suppose to go into cyrosleep until humans would wake em up. They had this plan all along until well things went wrong. Humans waking them up is the signal for them to head to earth for who knows what.
Only one survived and he carried out the plan. As he knew that one day he would be awaken.
Not sure if it makes sense

MemberOvomorphDec-08-2012 3:12 PMThe Scotland site discovery is just a memory implant for Shaw. That explains why Shaw was able to dig out the cave, set everything up and carbon date the cave painting during Holloway's 5 minute run up to the site.

MemberOvomorphDec-13-2012 1:10 PMTHat explains everything about the cave scene,(a memory implant)
A memory implant also makes sence in how the Shaw's charactor is portrayed.
There are several scened in the movie where Shaw looks befuddled, overwhelmed or at least confused.
* The scene where Holloway gets sick in the Tunnel,
*Waking up in the Clinic the whole Cross storyline
*Murals changing and immedietly wants to leave.
* Finding Wetland
The other charactor sort of had a sense of themselves. Shaw seems to be the victim of being a 'true believer' and everything is just not making sense.
And because she thinks she is a believer she survives. Someone let;s her think she survives.
On a part post someone suggested that our movie was all a Shaw dream.
At the time I sort of laughed it aff.. But now I am not sure as a 'dream' could lead top all kinds of storylines

Very perceptive. A few things there I hadn't thought of. You're on the right track now. Don't let go of that hoax idea either.
I've been looking for your post on the visual immediately following the Scotland scene. You know, the one with the crappy little yellow dot racing across space you said looked like something you had seen in a Disney movie?
Now I reckon that would be the worst visual Ridley Scott has done since he was in kindergarten. But if you said that to Ridley he would reply, "It's not my visual. It's the visual of the bloke who made the dream implant. I'm just recording it."
I don't think the whole movie's a dream though. That would be a real cheap trick and I'd ask for my money back.

MemberOvomorphDec-17-2012 6:12 PMHere we go.
It's not a dream. We'll leave that kind of thing to the writers of Dallas.
The Prometheus racing across the backdrop of a star field is not depicted as a yellow dot. It is depicted as a bluish-white streak, consistent with the output of high-powered ion engines. The background is rather beautiful. What else do you want in the scene? Cheerleaders singing "rah rah"?

MemberOvomorphDec-17-2012 8:22 PMDreams. Memory implants. We'll leave those things to the writers of Blade Runner.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose. I think, by Ridley's standards, that particular visual is amateurville and by including it, Ridley is offering us a clue.

MemberOvomorphDec-17-2012 10:14 PMTHat scene wuith the Prometheus is a short but beatifu seen With the backdrop of endless stars and the Prometheus silently making it way to the moon.
A perfect set up for the adventures to begin.
You so sort of wonder who would be watching the scene. Proably nobody but the movie viewers.

Sorry mate but I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.
Although I think David would have had a look at that scene.

MemberFacehuggerDec-18-2012 9:28 AMI also thought at one point Prometheus was a hoax but in a different way possibly Ridley having a laugh at society :S ...

If you look at the Scotland pictogram just over Holloway's shoulder during his presentation you'll see the location given in Gaelic as Eilean A’ Cheo’ . If you do a search on this you'll find that Eilean A’ Cheo’ mostly translates in English as "Winged Island".
Does the word "wing" ring any bells?
@djamel
Yes, I think Ridley is laughing his tits off.
