Predator appearance in Prometheus

Hi Claudius, this has been discussed before. Janek's torch consists of three LED's which actually cause the reflection! It does look very similar to the Predator laser canon though! :-D

As much as i am against Preds being in this franchise, i have to mention something. There are several times when Janek's light does hit the camera, but it is purely white. (Seriously, this happens like 5 times, and with other various lights.) NONE of them are red, not even for a millisecond. Also, note the 'Heartbeat' Predator sound which only lasts as long as that shot. Again, i don't know why i'm defending this-i hate the idea, but after seeing this movie so many times, i can't just dismiss it as a lighting coincidence. If anything it may just be a wink-wink, nudge nudge kind of nod.

Yes fleshvessel, that sound does occur, who knows maybe Lindelof suggested it to Ridley as a nod, like you said!

The predator was there pointing his laser at Janek. Not only that, I know of two other instances in the movie. The predators are out there! They are in the same universe as alien, and they were on Earth thousands of years ago, too!

Its actually not a bad idea. Thats one thing that makes a franchise illegitimate is when they throw off a big chunk of something because they don't want to recognize it anymore. As a sci-fi fan I'll tell you it destroys it. I think this was definitely done on purpose and they can do a lot of different things with it. One thing they can definitely do is relate and expand the weaponry they had in the second AVP to development of the human race. Definitely a good precaution by Ridley Scott to protect his work. It wouldn't hurt or protect his work but preserves any ability to expand that far.

Like it or not the Alien & Predator stories are crossed & they exist in they same universe. It also tells us that the Predators have been around a long time Eg.. The Trophy Room With Different Species They've Conquered In Battle & The Dinosaur Head, Plus the Musket they gave Danny Glover, Showing Honor, Strategy, Intelligence & they've been at interstellar travel for Centuries . Only the Engineers are the Scientist & Explores, The Predators are the warrior hunter race. They showed the Predators Home Planet or One Colony & there were Two different groups of Predators... I would bet that the xenophs were created to fight against the predators who were whipping the engineers asses. I'll go one step further… go with me…. i believe A Predator was there on LV-223 as a Century left there to guard those other bases & other ships Left Behind.. (Remember there are Three more Domes or Hangers That Shaw & Crew didn't explore that i would bet bottom Dolla Have Space ships in them also) When they defeated the engineers in a battle… wait wait.. then the ship that crashed in Alien on LV-426 that the Marines found, may have come from one of the Hangers on LV-223 & made an emergency landing on LV-426 because it was damaged or the cargo opened prematurely because of the ship shaking around from laser damage & infected the Engineer. This is a deep And Long Running Battle we don't know to much about yet.

also one last thing, is it safe to say that this Decon or Proto-Alien that everybody Hates and says is wack, lets not forget that this Decon Out-Dates the Queen in Alien by what 28 yrs & a few months.What Makes The Pure Alien Queen that everybody says is so smart. Question how was that Queen Made, meaning what was she mixed with to become the classic Alien Queen. The Decon was Half Human / Half Engineer - The Alien with Ripley Was Half Ailen / Half Human or Half Ripley whatever she was - The Alien Dog In AVP-1/2 Was Half Predator / Half Alien…. So What was the mixture to get the Pure Alien Queen from the First Alien…. or any Pure Alien For That fact

Sorry new here but long time reader, is it just me or why nobody saw that big ass scary looking skull on the front of the building they were running from when that big storm hit. Remember when they were speeding away the dust storm came around the building and showed that big skull on top clear as day…. why wasn't it visible going toward the building when they first started toward it or why nobody saw that big ass skull…. thank you i'm done

one thing about his clip is you don't hear that signature sound that the weapon makes when every time its pulled out & the beam didn't seem like it focused on anything. More like a reflection but very interesting

There's no doubt it was the predator. The sound of the targeting laser would naturally not be heard because I am pretty sure the predator was far away, like at the far end of the room. He was considering whether to open fire, it looks like to me.

Ha ha another tea leaf reading session. No pretty sure its just a lens flare and if it was a nod to predator - what the hell is it saying anyway! Normally when people add little bits in they make it mean something not make it so weak it takes like a year to spot and then means almost nothing when you find it. Another thing I just noticed is that room is covered in black goo all over the floor they are all treading in it and some are touching things with there hands. Helmets are off and no one gets contamination back to the ship or gets contaminated them selves!! hahaha man these things just keep popping up again and again - so bad!

I would just say that it preserves the idea the two universes could be intertwined. I was pretty sure Scott said that they blew off the project and that they were officially separated. But maybe I misread that. I actually think they could pull it off, but its dangerous and could make the franchise crap. The big problem is intertwining the Engineers and the Predators. They are both technologically advanced yet very different mentally. This makes mixing them almost cheesy. The predators have simplistic goals and almost seem like a bored race. The engineers are a very busy race with many goals. The way they have been developed clearly show they were created very separate. Combining them seems a bit cheesy. They would have to be very careful if they ever were going to combine them. I scratch my head with how they would possibly interact with one another. Part of me says, the way the are currently set up, the Predators with at least their weaponry seem like they would wipe the Engineers out. Yet when we see the accomplishments, goals, and even habitats they live in, the Engineers clearly look to be technologically superior. Its a very strange.

Another contradiction is the fact that the Predators and Engineers seem to have nursed the human race. The only possibility could be that the predators looked over the human race after the Engineers suffered the contamination. Or... the human race was watched over by the predators way before... which I'm pretty sure they were. But this would mean that the Engineers didn't make the human race like we thought. Perhaps the Engineers were responsible for creating their own forms of life and the human race on Earth was subject to the transformation on a certain date.
