What's your bet?

What would you put your bet on right now?
A) Prometheus II will being shooting in the fall with Scott directing.
B) Scott filming and directing "The Martian" or some other such as Bladerunner, and still saying nothing about what his eventual plans for prometheus II is.
C) Due to his commitments on other films Scott will Produce but not Direct Prometheus II but filming will being in 2015.
D) Prometheus II in limbo for years and we may never see it.
E) Your prediction...
I would put my bet on C.
I think option E will due nicely. I am willing to bet that Mr. Scott will not let the sequal to Prometheus slip so casually out of his hands.
Prometheus earned:
Worldwide: $403,354,469at the box office. No need to worry about any of this. The sequal for Prometheus is already under way and it will get made no matter what. Mr. Scott is exercising some creative urges nothing more. This is how he works his craft. I also believe filming will start early 2015 so that momentum for the second instalment is not diminished.
B)
Well we cant be sure whats going on, a lot as gone quiet last 9 months from Ridleys point of view and he has not made any comments and Fox only just confirmed that Paglen has done a draft and Green is also working on the Script, only just inside rumours such as Ridley was off to Australia looking at Shooting locations for Prometheus 2, and filming begins this Fall.
Now that could be that he is filming soon a yet to be named movie and the locations could be for that.
The Martian is movie Ridley is now working on at present what stage he is at is not known, so may not be shooting yet, but The Martian is a movie about "a American astronaut Mark Watney as he becomes stranded alone on Mars and must improvise in order to survive"
How Can Ridley shoot this movie that in May he had started work on, and Prometheus 2 in the Fall? And All them Australian Shooting Locations that we could speculate would be used for Mars and Weyland Head quaters like where Weyland did the Prep Talk Hologram to the crew.
Well does it now make more sense that this is the location for shooting Mars for the Martian?
I would say this is the movie he is working on and filming in the Fall.
I would think Ridley would want to shoot Prometheus Parts 2 and 3 if needed, and Blade Runner 2 or prequel as soon as he can but now depend on which movie he puts first, i,e Blade Runner or Prometheus/Alien Franchise.
c) maybe he will play some part in the story and direction of the franchise but i maybe think he wont be as Hands on with Prometheus 2 as he is with Part 1, Ridley has a lot of commitments, inc some TV Work.
I cant see him fit full directors role on Part 2 of Prometheus not if its going to be released over next 2 years...
Maybe he would work on Blade Runner movie and have some input at same time with Prometheus Part 2 especially if he wishes to merge in some way the franchises.

According to this article, it looks like The Martion may be the next shoot.

Yes b is what seems to be happening but c will maybe happen as well and is starting to look more likely as ridley has said he well be doing a trilogy of religious film starting with Moses :O . Of course as Prometheus was such a rip roaring success a will be the truth! Lol :p !
"It's almost as if they are making it up as they go along" :D
After The Martian, Scott might film Prometheus 2 (if he still wants to do it, that is). It'd be perfect, because for the next semester Michael Fassbender will, too, be busy with Assassin's Creed, in which he serves as actor and prooducer, which has a 2015 release date now.
I reckon both The Martian and AC will be finish shooting roughly at the same. That's important, because without Fassbender what is the point of making a sequel?
It is true the Martian may be a very quick to shot project due to the nature of the story line... hope it's a good film...
"It's almost as if they are making it up as they go along" :D
If fall comes, and it turns out to be B, then I'll go ahead and predict D lol
I wouldn't mind C, as long as they pick a good director, and A of course is the dream.
"That's important, because without Fassbender what is the point of making a sequel?"
Well that is kind of true, but we dont have any idea of when a Part 2 will ever be shot and a lot depends on his schedule. Noomi Rapace however is not as busy as Fassbender, so while the ideas would have been to show us David 8 and Shaw, and even new rumours of many David 8's
They would not really have to cast Fasbender to make any sequels, they would just have to make a new draft and plot that explain his omission.
By that they could show that the Ship Shaw and David 8 was on, reaches Paradise or is intercepted with by a Earth Vessel or even Engineer Ship etc.
The could awaken Shaw from Cryo Sleep but as for David all they have to show is the Space Jockey suit with Davids head and they could have it that he simply failed on route and effectively is broken.... they used a life like cast of Fassbenders head for the Headless David 8 scenes, i,e when Engineer hit Weyland and when Shaw put it into a Bag, and while it may not look 100% alive and Human, well David 8 is not a Human. They could even do animatronic like they did with Bishop in Alien 3 and so just how Bishops Voice was distorted they could do so with Davids and thus could cast a sound a like actor.
As for Multiple Androids, they could just came out with a new Model as the David 8s was replaced my such models as Ash and Bishop ones.
Not saying above would happen, just a way they could make sequels if Fassbenders is not going to be cast for what ever reasons.

Omitting the protagonist (Shaw) AND the most popular character (David) of the previous film doesn't seem to be a smart movie. Like, at all.
Yes, Fassbender has become an "A" list actor and my fear is that his busy schedule may not accomodate his appearing in Part 2.
And I wonder if he is a little put-off by Ridley, since The Counselor was slammed so hard by the critics and scores only 36% on Rotten Tomatoes. Maybe he's not keen on being in another Ridley Scott movie, and will be more selective going forward.
I am not sugesting we dont cast them, my post was that if Fassbenders Schedule is too tight there is away around having him make limited appearence via Animatronic Head and so do not have to cast the actor... this would be should he not be free to film the sequel.
I did not say to not use Shaw, as i would have had it that she gets found by either Engineer Ship or Earth one, or she finds Paradise.
There are other rumours that Shaw was only to make a small part and killed off and replaced by another Femaile Protagonist but these are just speculation and i take them with pinch of salt as it makes no sense.
As you said Cremildo the basis and cliff hanger was Shaw and David flying off at the end on there way to Paradise (Engineers Homeworld) or so Shaw is led to believe.
The only comments made by Ridley etc about Part 2 is indeed that Shaw and David would be on there way to seek the Gods as you will.
But with Ridley having busy schedule and Fassbender, we cant really wait around what 2-3 years before shooting the sequel? Or can we?
At the moment little is known, and it could be a secret project kept quiet but it could also be a project that is on hold for a unspecified period.
The Clever thing that they did with the Cut of the movie and the end of the movie, which inc Deacon and Shaws SOS Warning, and how the only thing about Paradise that we know off is the deleted Scenes when David said thats what the Engineer said before he ripped his head off.
The clever thing is, the franchise has left Mystreys in the past.... The SPACE JOCKEY... after Alien did we know anything about him, did they ever mention the Space Jockey again... Nope Never not for over 25 years till they produced Prometheus.
So they could just as easy ignore what happens with Shaw and David, they have gone off to Paradise which could be the other side of the Galaxy and far far away for any Weyland/Earth vessel to get to even by the time of Alien Resurection.
Thus what happens to Shaw and David, and what is Paradise and who these Engineers are could all be left to become our NEXT BIG UNANSWERED QUESTION.. like the SPACE JOCKEY was for so many years.
They could then not be tied down what Ridley Scot, Micheal Fassbender and Noomi Rapace schedules.
There are enough Clues on LV 223 for another mission to be able to peice together more of the Engineer Race, not enough to give us all the answers but enough to give us more than maybe we know from Prometheus or before Prometheus.
The XENO ORIGINS are uknown, we was given clues and there are many such clues maybe in the Engineers Mural and Writtings.. and we do have more Urns, More Ships and more Temples and we have a Deacon and Hammerpedes left on LV 223.
All which could be used to give us a sequel that answers more of the Xeno Connection.
Going this way, in that we never see Paradise or Engineers alive or maybe they find just one more or just Logs and Hollograms and Writting, would maybe not have themm try and have to explain the trickey connection to who created the Engineers, and what their Agenda was, and why they created us and wanted to destroy us...
Prometheus went down the route that the Space Jockey was the Engineers who was in effect Ancient Mankinds interpretation of God/Gods and this is a very open and tricky story and plot to do justice, its what gave me hardest time when working on a draft for a sequel.
So by never finding out where David and Shaw go and what Paradise is like etc... kind of makes it more simple to tie up lose ends and make a connection to Alien.
I AM NOT SAYING.... this is what i want, nope i want to find out where David and Shaw go, but how long will Fox wait to do a sequel and have to fit in Ridley, Fassbender and Rapace schedules.

"The Counselor was slammed so hard by the critics and scores only 36% on Rotten Tomatoes. Maybe he's not keen on being in another Ridley Scott movie"
Quite the opposite Fassbender loves working with Ridley and they have a few projects they are working on together at the moment as far as planning, and one of them is a Short Movie about finding another place to live and cope with after Earth loses its Gravity.

sp_jockey: well, a few months ago Fassbinder told an interviewer Scott was a genius and he'd reprise his role in Prometheus 2, he just didn't know when. It was during a promotional interview for X-Men: DoFP.
Well I don't think David & Shaw ended up alone together by accident. I think Ridley is going somewhere with the pair - perhaps wants them to serve as a contrast to the relationship between mankind & the engineers, or use them to make a statement about god/creation/etc.
Whatever it is, I think he has deliberately isolated them as the heart of the sequel, so I doubt either character would be dropped on account of the actors' schedules. I have a feeling they would wait years for Fassbender (and hopefully Noomi as well, I would absolutely hate to see anyone else play Elizabeth!), but if push comes to shove, they'll just find new actors instead of trashing a finished script (scripts seem like the most critical & time-consuming part).
@ElectricAve
Thats the main big point you touch upon, Promethues really was set up to follow on with Shaw and David, both Rapace and Fassbender had good performances, especially Fassbender and it seemed Ridley was setting us up for Shaw to be a new female lead like Ripley and with David he was showing us that a lot was going on with David as far as a Android goes that made him unqiue.
Prometheus did not do as well as Ridley may have intended, Ridley never said he was ever disapointed only thing he was disapointed with was the portrayal of the Engineer Civilisation and culture and Elders, his comments seemed to point me in the direction that he had lot of plans for the Engineers and that he may be revamping them and the Elders to be more Godlike for a sequel.
It is for the above reasons that i feel Ridley wants to take his time with Part 2 and to make sure he gets it right and to improve upon the First Movie and let a sequel answer some but give us more questions and allow for the franchise to branch off more.
So having Prometheus story left with more questions than answers, having touched upon these Space Jockeys played a part in our creation and evolution both technologically and biologically, and how we have not yet got a true connection with how the Xeno came to be.
These when added to the cliff hanger that the new Franchises Staring and only surviving Cast Shaw and David are on there way to seek answers....
I just dont think after Prometheus may not have quite been the hit the fans expected, that Ridley would want to leave us expecting to see Shaw and David again for him to not have any real Garuntees that we wont see them again.
For these reasons i think Ridley has set some time frame to do a sequel and i would assume he has prior got Fassbender and Rapace to agree to sign onboard when Ridley has the time and is ready to shoot the Sequel.
I say wait untill the Martian is out and we may then start to get more news about either the Prometheus Part 2 or Blade Runner Projects.
Fingers Crossed.
R.I.P Sox 01/01/2006 - 11/10/2017
^I heard they're already contracted to do it (like it's automatic - if the movie makes a certain amount, sequel is greenlit, and actors are contracted to come back - I may be wrong, that's just what I gather from different places I read)
So yeah, fingers crossed too that we get a Ridley-directed sequel & Noomi & Fassy return :)
Yeah i think it will happen eventually and i think the idea would be to have Fassbender and Rapace and i think they would have both agreed, but a lot depend on when Fox start to shoot, if Fassbender and Rapace have been told that a garunteed date for shooting as been agreed that would be easy on them. If no such date is set so say its next winter or spring 2016 when they start to shoot the movie, then i guess a lot depends on their schedule.
As for Ridley again i feel he will at very least play a part in the movie even if he does not take full producer/director i am sure he would have by now sat down with Fox and who ever is writting the draft and flashed out the basic story he wants to follow.
------------------------------------
For example basic outline of Prometheus is that the Space Jockey was one of a race of Ancient Giant Humanoids who played a part in creation of mankind, and who had visited us over our evolution and may played part in our technical development until a certain period when they stopped comming.
These Engineers left clues to a outpost they was based at and this outpost was used to create and test a Bio Weapon that some how related to the Xeno, and that they did intend 2000 years ago to wipe mankind out with the Bio Weapon, however during this time something went wrong and the Bio Weapon ended up nearly killing all but one last Engineer.
The Weyland company, with founder and CEO a old age Weyland pays for a mission to a distant moon that the Engineer outpost is on after two scientists find clues in many Ancient Cultures that depict varios Ancient Religons and Cultures Godlike beings all with what seems to be a collection of stars grouped together that seem to fit with a actual configuration in the Zeta 2 system and so Weyland funds a mission to explore the co-ordinants that the Scientists Shaw and Holloway beleave was left in Ancient cultures as a Invitation to come find our creators when we are ready.
They set off on a mission, led by Weylans Daughter and new CEO of Weyland and what they find is not a place of Paradise and where our creators are from but death, as they come across the Bio Weapon that was intended maybe for us, that had all but wiped out the Engineer race.
------------------------------
So as above is a basic broad stokes for Prometheus, i think Ridley would have already or he will when they get writting started, i think Ridley would already have a broad stokes for the sequel as above and maybe in more detail.
That the Writting staff will work on and Ridley will read and then make comments on and offer ideas to improve or change such draft before shooting..
So even if Ridley does not direct the movie, he would have some great input on where they would be going with the sequel.
