I have not seen anything "official" yet, but many of us on SciFied are guessing that it is in development, most likely still in pre-production (scouting locations, storyboarding, etc.).  The 2 actors we have been told will be in the movie are busy at the moment.  Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are currently involved in a few movies and I would guess they could be free this fall to start principal photography on 'Prometheus 2'.

But again, nothing has been "officially" stated regarding the schedule.  Here's to hoping we hear something soon with the marketing for 'The Martian' (Ridley Scott's next directorial effort) about to kick off.

I have watched the trailer for the Martian and it looks like it will be a huge waist of time. You can hold me too this as well. I am betting that it will lose a lot of money at the boxoffice.

When the Martian fails at the boxoffice you think Scott wants to flush and waist another 100 million...lets all be real about this....you think Fasbender and some aliens we have not seen before is a big enough draw to take a chance on that one. Prometheus did good at the boxoffice simply because they promoted it with Scott's name all over it and people wanted to see something new from the Alien franchise...wow was the audience let down after all the all the bad plot holes in this movie.....and the stupid little Alien comming out of the engineer at the end WOw 

The fact that the new Terminator film is the big Scifi summer release is proof how dysfunctional Hollywood has become.

The new Star Wars film sould be being release for this summer and not all this other bs.

I am getting to the point where I dont care if Prometheus 2 gets made or not.

I would rather see the new Blade Runnaer film instead.

Do not get me wrong I like all the artwork in Prometheus and really like all the actors but so much time has already passed....besides Alien 5 will be release and that might do just ok even though just as Scott said people have seen this monster so many times before whats the point.

I think that the pre-production of it will soon be finished. After that filming is ready to go. 

A release on March 2016 is realistic.

Yes Prometheus was a let down to a degree, it depends person to person for me the movie has so much that could have been and half answered questions and clues that makes us well me excited about the potential a sequel could have....  Many people have different views on the movie.. and i have covered this before but General Puplic would not understand or get the movie.... General Sci Fi fans would not make good on the connection to Alien.....  Alien fans been disapointed at for some No Space Jockey Story and Xenos and others a wasted opportunity.... then you had Ridley fans who some would love what ever he did no matter what.

I do not buy the reason for Prometheus doing well was due to Ridley Scott.. yes that may help but it never did as good as expected... but for me the main reason was we ws to see a Prequel to Alien that would show us some of the Mystrey behind the Space Jockey... what was his Race? why was he there? are there any more of his kind and whats there Agenda?  And why was he in that system with that Cargo and how did and why did they have such a Cargo...   yes to a degree maybe find out where the Xeno came from.

I think thats the reason for people interested and going to see Prometheus and i think if Ridley had nowt to do with it, it would have gained near same level of interest.

As far as no one being interested in Part 2.... i think the General Puplic and Sci Fi fans may be hard to pull in as they would think oh its part 2 to that movie that made no sense... maybe Sci Fi fans watch it especially if Alien and Ridley fans give it good reception.

Its the Ridley and Alien fans who would want to see the movie more, and Ridley has his work cut out to give us something that will satisfy the let down that Prometheus was compared to what it could have been...

As for Alien 5..... sorry but we seen Aliens before and i am not looking forwards to this, how can they give us something more Original?  And bring Ripley back..... i think yeah we could see better than Alien R and Alien 3 but to beat Aliens and Alien i cant see it... my worry is what if we get a Alien 5, 6 and 7 etc etc...

Sorry Ripley should been left for Dead... or done a Alien movie set between Alien 3 and Alien R where they get Xeno DNA some other way but then why do Alien R... or set it after Alien R

As far as Prometheus Production Goes....

Here are some FACTS

1) The movie has the Green Light, it will be happening Rappace and Fasbender are signed on to appear in it.

2) The movie has a finished Draft, this can however change a bit from now untill Shooting has finished..... after its started of course.

3) Ridley would alread have a vision of how he wants things to look, worlds, sets, monsters etc ... its a case of has his ideas been processed to Concept Artists yet?

4) He would have a direction he wants to take the movie and any potential sequel and how it effects and connects to Alien Franchise be that after Prometheus 2 or even 3 if there is to be one... Evidence for this is also in how he has spoken to Blomkamp to make sure his Alien 5 movie does not contradict any plans as far as Engineers Tech and Xeno Origins etc goes with Ridleys vision for them.

Is the movie in Pre-Production?   Who knows...

Yes a lot of things have got in the way of Production and they have to wait until Rapace and Fasbender are freed up.... Fassbender is free after the Summer after the New X-Men movie... but that Window is not massive one before Assassin's Creed is worked on but thats not due untill December 2016 release.

So there could be a chance to start Prometheus 2 by Fall... a lot would depend how often David or other Davids are to be on screen, the more Screen time dedicated to Rapace and Fassbender could effect if the movie can be shot before Assassin's Creed.

Now the One Source i spoke to a while back and take this as a pinch of salt....

They claim Production could start this Fall and Wrap up by end of March for a Fall 2016 release date....  they said Alien 5 and Prometheus 2 could be released within 6 months of each other..

They did futher say that they could be mistaken on the Fall 2016 for Prometheus 2 as that could be Alien 5 instead but if so then it would mean a March Production date for Prometheus 2..

He proposed one movie October 2016 the other April 2017 but not sure which Order... but Prometheus 2 has been worked on for longer as far as Draft and Ideas.

The person i spoke to is not the Source he is one who passed on what a Source said to him and they wont spill no more beans at all......

Only latest comment they made was..... Prometheus 2 is not Hell on Earth...  Some of it is set on Earth well they said Weyland Headqauters...  but its no Engineers Ships dropping off Goo on Earth....

And Shaw Technically does not Die... erm... what that means they not say....  But the focus well one part is indeed David and Shaw going off to Paradise (but thats the intended destination) why say that? Maybe they dont get to Paradise but they said certainly is not going to Earth.... and yes company does detect Shaws SOS and knows where they are going... but in no way do they catch up with them...

Which all makes more sense really..

Hopefully we shall get some news after the Martian is released but seems Alien 5 and Prometheus would be released close but not in the same year.. so one would be Fall 2016 the other early 2017 like Spring?

I have not been able to get any more information apart from that Pre-Production is due to start this Fall on Prometheus 2 and the main delay being commitments of Ridley and Cast Members he wishes to use in the movie otherwise the Draft/Plot and broad ideas as far as look and feel of the movie and races/monsters Ridley already knows what those will be.

Only other information i had is that this Hell on Earth stuff is not the case, and its a simple misreading information about Alien 5 plot......   Alien 5 is set after the company gets its hands on a Engineer Ship and Technology and begins experiments on a Company Facility in our Solar System....

That the working title submited to Ridley that is bold but give too much away is most likely Hell on Earth...  and the movie could be bringing in elements from Alien as far as the Egg Morph route as well as various new types of Xeno.

While Prometheus 2 will feature 2 monsters one would be close to the Xeno but another will be totally different,  and by that the Deacon in Mural and Shaws Baby Trillobite and everything we seen in Prometheus contains more Xeno DNA than the New Fresh Monster would do.

Which makes sense as lets face a few FACTS..

Having David bring the Engineer Ship to Earth and have the company intercept it and then experiment on the Cargo etc....   would leave massive plot holes as far as how much or little is known about the Space Jockey the Xeno by the time of Alien and at the begining of Aliens.

Also Shaw to then die, but then be able to then go to Paradise in the 3rd movie...

The only way this would work would be to have Part 2 set after Part 3..... but if this is the case then a David and Shaw returning from Paradise to Earth would know a lot about the Engineers their Technology and Agenda and surely some of that would have to be split in Part to that would make little need to do a Part 3

When we think about Blomkamps Alien 5 and he did say the Title was very bold but would give to much away..... what can be BOLD?  The concept work does show us a Engineer Juggernaught in some state of distress worse than the Derelict in some Company Hanger and latter we see a Xeno Queen on the lose at some Company Head Quaters that has a Asian theme......

Logic would sugest could they had gone and collected the Derelict after the destruction of Hadleys Hope?  And if not then they went to LV 223 but why is the ship in such a state and not as in good condition as the one in Prometheus... unless they recover the crashed one from Prometheus?

But then again we have to ask why not recover a pristine one as David said there was many more and that does not mean just one last ship that they took...

Futher more the evidence of a Xeno Queen and Xenos in Alien 5 could sugest the most likely recovery of the Derelict as opposed to other Engineer Ships.

LV 223 is one Question that has to be adressed and i think Prometheus 2 and 3 should do that, as by the events of Aliens.... why go to LV 426 and not LV 223 instead.

Futhermore..... Blomkamp had to change one thing that was bugging Prometheus.... what that could be is unkown....

But has to most likely be something that Blomkamps story would try and tell in connection to the Xeno its Origins and Space Jockey and Bio War Ships that could conflict with what Ridley has planned for Prometheus 2 and 3.... if there is one.

Maybe a likely plot is how they recover Engineer Technology..... if Blomkamp had them recover Shaw and Davids Juggernaught or the Crashed one on LV 223 or even one of the others on LV 223.....   But Ridleys ideas of what becomes of LV 223 after Prometheus and before Alien would conflict with how the company gets its hands on Engineer Ships and Tech would for me be the most likely reason for Bugging Prometheus...

But who knows what that change could actually be....

I'm pretty sure that Ridley will say how far the production of Prometheus 2 is going. 
However 'Hell On Earth' will not be the title, the 'Planet of the Ape' concept, that David and Shaw fly to the Engineer's home planet, which is earth is very interesting. 

After you wrote that you think about the Alien 5 title, I am also thinking now what it could be.. What about Alien - Eternity, Reawakening, Genesis, Recreation, Annihilation?

That is a interesting concept, but i am trying to think how this would play into the timeframe of Alien unless they go for a Parallel Universe maybe via some Wormwhole...  It would be interesting to see how Earth is the Engineers Homeworld..

Some speculated that we could be the Engineers, and prehapse they are us from the future, and while its a interesting twist i dont think this is what we will see for a number of reasons, for one the first movie seemed to show that its via a Engineer Seeding that life on Worlds occurs but again who is to say that the opening scene was Earth, on Earth it could have been a Human that was Sacrificed that led to Engineers at some latter point and they then stole our Technology?

But i am not buying that idea... i think the franchise is trying to show us that the Engineers are our Ancestral Seed.  Another issue with a us creating them could be our lack of knowledge of them aside from dipictions of Ancient Race of Tall Humanoids who Ancient man worshiped or mistaken for Gods, i think this is the whole Concept the movie was going.

As far as a David and Shaw going to the Engineers homeworld and it being Earth again do they arrive at a Earth in the past, like thousands of years ago....  do they go the route that David causes havock that wipes out most of the Engineers, and leads to Mankind then overthrowing them or even our creation?  As the opening Scene from Prometheus could just be how they seed more Engineers?    Or do they arrive in the future? Where Mankind has become Engineers, and maybe for some reason a fraction of Engineers wants to go back in time set up base on LV 223 to then destroy Mankind so as to not lead to a event that in the future and maybe if its to do with becoming Engineers... that they wish to go and wipe out us to in effect stop the evolution to themselves?

But this kind of idea would produce a Time Paradox and be very Terminator in essence... you know if this is the case and they wipe mankind then how does the Engineers get created to then go back and destroy us in the first place etc..

I am sure come this Fall Ridley may release a few comments regarding the movie that would give us some idea of a direction and maybe rubbish some othe claims i.e Hell on Earth and maybe we would have some idea of the process of the movie so far....

Which as of now all we know for sure is the Draft is Done, Fassbender and Rapace are going to be Cast and most likely maybe Whyte would be cast to play some role or roles too again......   Ridley has a basic idea of the look and feel he wants as far as how to put the ideas in the Script onto screen but we just dont know how far along this is so far and i am sure as of now with his schedule being not so bad, he could be brainstorming ideas as far as his doodles to put ideas to concept....   he is going to be working on Alien 5 to some degree and also Bladerunner 2 which also has a Script.... of which Harrison Ford did say  as far as draft he saw, its the best script he has ever read.

So far i will break down the two/three rumours of how the plot is to be....

1) Ridley Scott has sugested the movie will focus mainly on Shaw and David going to the Engineers Homeworld Paradise... David will persaude Shaw to put his head back on but then David can be dangerous and be left to explore his own Agenda, but he is able to Charm and Persaude Shaw...

They will find these Gods that Shaw is searching for, but they will not be Gods in traditional sense and they are far from Benevolent... what Shaw hopped to find as Answers from after finding out who these Engineers and Agenda seemed from after Prometheus... is not what she finds, but instead these beings are more like Devils than Gods.....  hints are that there could be another Race involved because Ridley said they did not wish to meet God in the first movie, but they will do in the 2nd.

Rappace said that they are off to find God but what they find could be the Devil instead.

David will be bringing Hell with him, by that the Cargo and Ridley sugested a what if? what if the Goo was to effect God..? or a Machine?  This could hint to David unleashing some of the Cargo on the inbabitants of Paradise or at least infecting one of these so called Gods.... or maybe there Engineers?  Or maybe infecting himself?

We will see a New Monster, more Scary than the Aliens from the Franchise, he refers to the Original Alien from 1979 as being the more scary form in the franchise, and that he wishes to give us something more fresh... a fresher more modern take on the classic Monster from the Original and Giger Idea....

He went futher to sugest that the Baby Alien (Shaws Deacon) at the end of Prometheus was too close to the Dragons.... (Xenos) seen many times in the Franchise.. so Ridleys new Monster will differ from it and anything we have seen in Prometheus and Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien R but something closer to the Original maybe by that the concept that led to the Alien from Alien? as the Alien in Alien was closer to those in Aliens etc than the Deacon at the end of Prometheus was...

This is about all the beans he has split on the movie...

2) Hell on Earth then we have this leak, the one that sugests that the movie will be based on Earth and that the company intercept David and Shaws Engineer Ship as it heads towards Earth....

The company may then experiment on the cargo or David releases it or something that unleashes or causes Hell on Earth....

Futher rumours to link with this are....

i) Shaw will die in the movie and a new female lead would be cast

ii) The company will send a mission off to Paradise...

iii) Shaw and David at the end will go to Paradise... (how if she dies) unless its the new female lead....

I dont quite by any of these as for one was the Original idea for Shaw to find her answers from the Engineers or their creators?  If she dies without getting any and then replaced by another lead... we have to ask why would David send the ship to Earth and then latter go to Paradise... why not go there to start with... unless he is following company orders and latter after getting Engineer Technology the company then wants to go off to Paradise for more....?

This could conflict with the story line as far as Alien and Aliens.....

Or could it be that Part 2 shows us the return of Shaw and David from Paradise... and so Part 2 is set after Part 3.. and Part 3 shows us David and Shaw going to Paradise... yes this could allow Shaw to die in Part 2 if Part 2 is set after 3....  But this just gets complicated and we would have to assume comming from Paradise Shaw and David would have some knowledge or the Engineers or their creators and so maybe some information would be released.... which makes us wonder, why do a 3rd movie then?   And how come no Engineers etc from Paradise come after David and Shaw as they leave Paradise for Earth...

Unless David and Shaw find nothing.. but then why go back.... unless the company decides not to... and so we wont see the company going to Paradise at all...

Futher these rumours sugest two new Monsters and find out the Engineers are commanded by another source..... but these two elements could have been taken from the information i was given in earlier post..

3) Multiple Android Mission to LV 223.. The other rumoured plot was that the Company detect Shaws SOS and wish to find out about LV 223 mission, what happened to Prometheus, why did Shaw mention there is only death now and what connection could this have with the Signal on LV 426.

The company thus set off a mission to infestigate those signals but the mission may comprise of just Androids... or mainly Androids....

This rumour stays in tune with the other idea that another part of the plot is David and Shaw head off to Paradise.....

Another additional rumour that can relate to the above is the company also having found what went down on LV 223 and finding out David and Shaw have gone off to the Engineers Homeworld.... so the company likewise send off a mission to go after David and Shaw.....

But how much of a head start (no pun intended) would David and Shaw have...? surely with such a head start and Engineer Ship vis Company ones, this would take ages unless we see Androids on LV 223 take off in more Engineer Ships...

These rumours for 3)  could potential hold some truth to them as logic would sugest the Companies on Earth would want to investigate LV 223 between Prometheus and Alien.

With regards to the information that i was given, be that true or not only time will tell, it seems to lead to fit more in line with Ridleys comments rather than the supposed Hell on Earth....

The interesting parts for me, are how Prometheus was not the first mission to the System of LV 223 and LV 426....   The Two kinds of Monster, one that you can trace Xeno DNA and another that is very different and newer....  Also how we will see a connection between the Fire Theft and Engineers links to it and interpretation and vague links to Ancient Myths and Cultures as far as God like biengs go.... and that the Fire is a Forbiden Fruit and Knowledge (maybe Technology) that was used in a forbiden way by our Engineers...    A movie that would show us about Hierarchy of creation and the rebelion of creators and creations in a visious Cyle which David could be the latter part of....

Also i have yet to try and figure out how the plot can have some parallels with the Matrix and Bladerunner.... unless it means as far as our Engineers and their relationship with their creators..... are the Engineers thus similar to Replicants?  and also what about the ideas from Star Beast... regarding Hierarchy and Sacrifice.....   only thing that comes to mind is that the Godlike beings have a way to procreate themselves or some favoured organism of theres that the Engineers play the part of as Sacrifice?

I think the Engineers are probably aware LV223 has be compromised(ship STOLEN, temple sacked, orders not carried out). I think they will destroy the temples('Nuke it from orbit!') and clear any signs they were on LV223. Might be some large radioactive craters on LV223 by the time a rescue party arrives from Earth.

 UNLESS.....there is a mining/transport/exploring ship in the area of LV223? and maybe they will send that crew to report what happened before the Engineers come to destroy it....BUT that is really just a rehash of Alien('space truckers sent to check an alien world').

We cant be 100% sure what they would show us as far as the Engineers, i hope they do come up with some explanation for why it seemed in Alien and Aliens no one knew who the Engineers really where.  Nevermind by the time of Alien 3 and Alien R

A easier way to answer those would be if the latter two movies was removed from Cannon they could then introduce the Engineers interacting with Mankind at a time set after Aliens and Alien 5

Why the Engineers from Paradise seemed to had never came back to LV 223 is one of the big mysteries as well as why did they not continue to check on the progress of the intended destruction of Earth and lack of comunication with LV 223 after the downfall of the Engineers on that Outpost some 2000 years prior..... especially if the Engineers on Paradise was aware of this mission or even if they gave the orders.

As far as Engineers comming back to destroy LV 223 i am not 100% sure, as Ridley sugests they are not Benevolent and so would they not come to Earth to finish us off too?  Unless a faction comes along to Destroy LV 223 but decide not to interfere with Mankind.

I agree that to avoid conflict with the Aliens Timeline and plot, that LV 223 must at the time of Aliens at very latest, prove to be a place that yeilds no Fruit....

And logically this has to be after a mission to LV 223 by the company ends with one of them seeing the Danger of the Technology on LV 223 and Destroying the Area that contains the Engineers Temples and Ships....   Or that after Shaw and David are done with Paradise Shaw returns and destroys all of the Engineer Technology on LV 223.

I would be pretty sure that some Company from Earth would want to investigate LV 223 again after the events of Prometheus and before setting up Hadleys Hope on LV 426 and we certainly know that even if the Temple in Prometheus has all of its Black Goo Spent and of no use.. i.e past its Half Life, and if any created Organisms from the events (Hammerpede and Deacon) are all dead.....   we know for certain that there could be more Temples and there is for 100% sure more Engineer Ships..... David said this to Shaw.... Many More is not one last ship that David and Shaw took off on, Many implies at least 3 more to me but as much as many more than that, 10, 20, 50 who knows but for sure there are Engineer Ships left on LV 223 by the year 2094

Unless the company comes across such things but they work in secret ways i.e like a illuminati?

Thus they know much more than they let on in Aliens and even Burke is in the dark to how much the company really knows..... but we have to ask if this is the case, would they need the Xeno from the Derelict?  Why if they have the Engineers Black Goo and gain a understanding to how it works etc... i.e Translations via the Androids?
