Prometheus Revelations! Part 2
The revelation of the black goo!

I took me a long time to understand Prometheus and I took much longer We understand what the black goo and now I want to continue sharing Revelations Prometheus!

In some of my previous threads, I shared the idea that the black goo was literally what Elizabeth Shaw told Janek at the end of the film (for a long time I believed that these words were only metaphorical!) "Shaw says Janek "Janek, if you do not stop it, there will not be any home to go back to! It's ... it's carrying death! It's heading for earth! ""

But everything made sense in the scene where David exclaims this phrase! (Big Things Have small beginnings.)

David's finger was holding a drop of black goo! (But what really caught my attention was a movement pattern in the black goo! (That's when I remembered the theory of Masaru Emoto "Messages from Water").

Masaru Emoto theorized that water would react when exposed to different types of emotions (thus forming different types of patterns' one for each type of emotion ") and Biblico Making sense that water is the natural catalyst of Life! (The Bible speaks of Rivers of Living Water).

If in a universe created perfect (there are opposites, light and dark, good and evil, Life and Death, (Water and black gunk)
If the water is the catalyst narural Life !, then the black goo, is the natural catalyst of Death!

All this reality is exposed in an organic sense, where each element would not exist or would not follow his nature without the other.
deathless life would not exist or if it already exists to create life, seeing it otherwise would be something! (Like killing something that has no life !?)
for there !, one must also exist !, each other according to their nature !.
this idea is confirmed at the beginning of the movie! (In the scene I call "Baptism" where one appeared to be an engineer assimilates the black viscous substance!, Starting a process of extinction of life !, perhaps to organic and molecular level, but we also see that this whole process is brakes abruptly upon contact with water!).
Nature against nature, pure effect of a perfect creation, the living water against the black death (I gave him this name in honor of the bubonic plague), but the once prolific life (thanks to the volumes of the variables of the elements to which were exposed).
Everything was perfect, and everything was corrupted! (Also black goo! Since it sprang from the vessels was another thing !,)
 but that!
that's another story !!.

Its kind of funny you started this Hicks.... i was today going to comment on the other Topic as far as What Weyland knew about the Black Goo...

Instead of starting a new one, or comment on one from a long time ago....

So its lucky you started this one ;)

My point i was going to make is this....... What if the Goo be it black or sacrificial can not work without a liquid.

It needs something from liquid to be able to operate, and most liquids contain H2O Water....  even Alcohol. (Holloways drink would be 80% Water)

Humans are made of about 70% Water, but this varies on the Organs.....

Lets take a look at the Goo in the movie and scenes of transformation.

1) Sacrificial Scene the Engineer ingests the Goo, we can assume his body also is made of over 60% Water.  His Genetic Material Breaks down and ends up in the Waterfall where it then begins to evolve into new life.

(we cant assume other particles that were blown in the wind could have a effect or could not).

2) Urns Black Goo, we see it seep from the Urns as a Black Oil like liquid that affected the Worms and Fifield leading to a Mutation.....   If we go to David 8 and when he examines the inside of the Urns they contain no Black Goo for the most part but only small amount at the end of the Ampoules

So we can assume that Atmospheric changes effect the Ampoules and what they contain or are made out of to melt into a liquid that mixes with the black stuff David put onto his finger to then trigger the reaction.

3) Holloway, we see David uses the Goo on his finger into Holloways drink and so maybe his drink acted as a trigger.

So yes we cant rule out that the Goo Bio-Former, Accelerant needs Water or Water based Liquids to perform its task.

As far as the theory that the Goo is effected by Emotions then yes that has been mentioned on here before, in that negative emotional contact brings death and positive emotional contact creates life.

And who knows.... but from what i saw was that even in Death there was creation, my view of the Goo is different.. i have covered it before and i can do again or try and Summarize it.

But my theory makes sense and is similar to Spaights idea, but then i think Fox have decided to make it different.

Hi Hicks,

I am quite satisfied that the sacrificial scene at the beginning of the movie is a benign intervention by the Engineer/Gardner's the Space Jockey race. If we use the analogy of an artist the divine creator has generated the back ground work into which the subject will be added. We see the background a world of earth, air and water provided by the great artist the creator into which the gardener is introduced.

The ingesting of the catalyser by the acolyte introduces a civilising agent into the waters of the world and finesses basic DNA which leads down to mankind being kick started this is why we are them and they are us.

By the time we arrive at LV223 the Engineers have suffered a fall by stealing the fire/knowledge and attempted their own sub creation. One specific narrative maybe they created through sacrifice the life cycle shown on the mural leading to the deacon who then ingested the break down catalyser and created the black goo. The Deacons head was retained as a memorial of this act replacing the sacrificial cup. However what they created was outside of the intended plan and was highly unstable. It would not only react to water but changes in atmosphere. It was a highly unstable, to use Lindeloff's word, mutagen which contained what we know as the Zeno strain, his words. How was that created watch this space and Paradise - Lost.

The theory of a tainted strain is consistent with Spaights (Scarabs) where Fifield is bitten and leads to a sub Zeno transformation and Lindelof where Fifield takes a head bath and leads to a not unrelated Zeno type transformation (more so in other designs) but like Charlie it is not an elegant or swift decomposition nor like the more basic worms a powering up with reproductive overload. However I am content both writers felt the black goo, which may look like the Acolyte material, contained the Zeno strain and that experiment had lead to the appalling devastation on LV223.

So whilst I think the black goo will have different outcomes and is a syrup that needs intermix to ignite I do not think it is the beautiful elegant catalyst of the beginning of the movie. So for me its not the thought or mix that makes the outcome its a tainted material which represents a grave fall which leads to retribution.

The huge question now is its on board a Juggernaut heading for Paradise. Does David use it out of curiosity or to take a short cut on either himself or "Shaw". In Spaights movie they enter a Juggernaut full of eggs and David ensures she is face hugged, will the same kind of movement occur and lead on.
