Why would the bio-tech come from synthetics and not engineers?

I've seen several theories now that posit that the xeno gets it's biotech from David or Walter. I am curious as to why some find this more likely than the idea that it comes from several generations of purebred armored engineer neomorphs.
I mean if David does in fact end up on their home planet and there was one or more engineers available to him in cryo sleep, he could perhaps create an engineer neomorph using Shaws ovaries (more trilobites which he would use on sleeping engineers to create more deacons) then take the new deacon DNA and splice that with another engineer (or new evolved trilobite) and essentially create a more purebred line which eventually would lead to the xeno.
Not to mention, that last step wouldn't even be needed if the sac the deacon was holding when it was born contains the next evolution of trilobite.
Either way, Engineer armor looks a lot more like xeno armor than any android innards. To those of you who subscribe to the idea the bio-tech comes from android, what are your reasons for favoring this over armored engineer DNA?
