Shaw's new body parts? (spoiler image)
QueenElizabethShaw
MemberChestbursterMay-09-2017 9:23 AMSo this is supposed to be Shaw as found in David's lab.
I'm interested in this object behind her head. Am I stretching here or is this possibly a makeshift queen's crest David has created and attached to her?

MemberFacehuggerMay-09-2017 9:57 AMI love this image, it reminds me of mystery of Space Jockey. You know something wrong is there but just can't figure out what's going on.

MemberOvomorphMay-09-2017 10:10 AMjust watched alien covenant, and boy, it is almost on par with the 1979 alien... prometheus got nothing on this bad boy... sad to say, there are very little information about shaw in this movie...but it is still great! 8/10!
QueenElizabethShaw
MemberChestbursterMay-09-2017 10:12 AMI take it then there is no explanation as to what is behind her head? I read somewhere you don't even see her body directly, but only in background. Do I have both of these things correct?

AdminPraetorianMay-09-2017 10:21 AMI assume she was still contaminated from contact with Charlie. The goo is/was still in her system.
Anyways, it's obviously an homage to this. One of Giger's most famous images.

MemberOvomorphMay-09-2017 11:04 AMMaybe being in cryo on the juggernaut changed her as it not supposed to be used by humans. Or she was still I'll and being inside sped up the process
QueenElizabethShaw
MemberChestbursterMay-09-2017 11:05 AMAre you saying you believe it is growing out of her as opposed to David crafting something together?
kalhava
MemberOvomorphMay-09-2017 11:07 AMOr is some sort of twisted clamp David uses to keep her head in place while he is doing stuff to her

MemberFacehuggerMay-09-2017 12:26 PMI think the anatomical artwork on this is phenomenal. I would like to see how much more of Shaw is revealed. There are some things that strike me about this. Firstly the expression on her face, as if she died peacefully. But who knows maybe David cleaned her up. I’d say she is in a contraption to hold her in place, because of how the skin from the collar bones is held in place. That’s another important point imo. The skin would appear to have been carefully cut open, rather than ripped or torn. Whether the rest of the body is like that, who knows ?
QueenElizabethShaw
MemberChestbursterMay-09-2017 12:44 PMI could see that. Something made out of the bones of the humanoids he bombarded.

MemberTrilobiteMay-09-2017 12:46 PMThat looks pretty elaborate solely for immobilization. I think there is more to it- what? We will know soon enough.

MemberFacehuggerMay-09-2017 1:05 PMAccording to some other folks who said watched the movie. Her face is normal and not like in the op.
I dont know who is right
Is there an agenda the mods are not telling us about? ;)

MemberTrilobiteMay-09-2017 1:15 PMkalhava I too wonder if that Engineer pod had some part in the mutation.

AdminEngineerMay-09-2017 1:28 PM@QueenShaw, I edited the banner to remove the spoiler image. Please upload the image in the body of the post instead of the banner to avoid accidentally spoiling those passing by.
As per the topic, this is Shaw from the film. However in the film this lifelike dummy of Shaw is covered in some tarps and not completely shown like the image. But it is without a doubt Shaw.
@Batchpool, your signature is my new favorite sig on these forums lol that's brilliant!
QueenElizabethShaw
MemberChestbursterMay-09-2017 1:38 PMPerhaps both? That image I included could just be the stage prop they put in the scene to be a substitute for Shaw's body in scenes that didn't do a close-up. This would allow them to have her in any scene in David's workshop without having to actually pay Noomi for the extra screen time.
QueenElizabethShaw
MemberChestbursterMay-09-2017 1:42 PMSorry about that. It didn't occur to me that people can see the thumbnail. I'll add it to the body.
By the way, are you saying that Noomi does not appear as this corpse in the film? That it is simply this dummy under a tarp?
dk
MemberTrilobiteMay-09-2017 1:50 PMActually, David summarily using her like that with no sentiment has more impact regarding humanity or lack there of imo.

MemberOvomorphMay-09-2017 3:00 PMIt's kind of a shame they threw away a talent like Noomi Rapace in that way. that character had some potential. I wish that Shaw "transformation" would've happened a film or 2 later ;/

MemberOvomorphMay-09-2017 3:18 PMI love the brutality of it. The cold AI kind of brutality. In her search for god she birthed the devil.

MemberFacehuggerMay-09-2017 3:51 PMI think it looks like she 'grew' that structure. It seems it may be a chest plate of sorts (mutated ribcage?) and she has been cut open and the chest plate structure has been rotated over her face and placed behind her head. I landed on this due to the skin in the neck area. It has been intentionally cut and if you look close you will see exposed chest/neck muscle tissue by the "v" in her shirt. Or maybe just specific elements are of the chest structure, and are rotated up via the autopsy. So unnatural that it is challenging to comprehend.
What I can say for certain, is that is the worst STD ever...
Thoughts?

MemberPraetorianMay-09-2017 4:05 PMWith the upcoming movie we heard about here today that starts filming in 14 months, "Awakening', that should hopefully give us the story of what happened to Shaw.
IN SPACE THERE IS NO WARNING

MemberFacehuggerMay-09-2017 4:56 PM“I think it looks like she 'grew' that structure.”
@ Spearfish Interesting choice of words. This got me thinking about the Spacejockey in Alien and the comments made about it looking like it grew out of the chair. I wonder if this is a clue or nod to Alien in some way.
@ Chris. Happy to see you like the new signature, it’s been a bit overdue.

MemberChestbursterMay-09-2017 5:22 PMI think you may be right. Take a look here.
A. Somewhat looks like they could be her hip bones.
B. Seems as if they may be arm/leg bones
C. Open rib cage? Possibly even upside-down?
If you take a look at this image, that cavity in the body appears large enough for both rib cage and hipbones to have been removed.
The thigh bones may have even been removed to make more room for the eggs to grow.
So David removes all of this from the corpse to allow more growing room and then crafts it into a crown for the holy mother of his perfect organism?
Batchpool
MemberFacehuggerMay-09-2017 5:55 PMThis may be because the picture is blurry, but I think the cross section through the body(rib cage area), looks like the cross section of a Xeno egg.
QueenElizabethShaw
MemberChestbursterMay-09-2017 5:57 PMI 100% agree. The picture is blurry so we can't say for sure but that is definitely what it looks like.

MemberFacehuggerMay-09-2017 6:07 PM“IF” the first egg was Shaw and she was the origin of the first facehugger, then would’nt that make her a queen? So maybe the object behind her is meant to be a queen’s crest or certainly infer that.
Ati
MemberPraetorianMay-09-2017 6:16 PMI think you are right, she grew the first egg with the facehugger. And I think I've found this egg. Its slices can be seen in the new featurette 'Rare Breed':

MemberFacehuggerMay-09-2017 6:29 PMYes, I think we collectively have solved this mystery. This end for her is ironic, as the 'road to damnation is paved with good intentions'. She wanted answers, and couldn't reproduce, but now she is the mother of an abomination that is set to eliminate mankind as were the engineers she was chasing to ask 'why eliminate us?'.
