MemberTrilobiteJan-25-2017 2:26 PMIsolation was just about perfect for me, but I avoided CM based solely on reviews and gamers' responses. Did any one like the game? If so, please explain. Should I give it a shot or save time and money and ignore?

MemberPraetorianJan-25-2017 2:41 PMIn all honesty it's ok.I got it almost exactly two years ago for my birthday. It was purchased in a 3 for ten deal at game stop.Ironically it's probably the one i've played the most of the 3 games(one i don't like very much, the other i got tired of.)In all I've played through 3 times. For starters the story and characters are terrible. The gameplay is average if you've played Call of Duty or any other shooter from recent years then you'll know what to expect. The graphics range from decent to horrible. The enemy AI is all over the place. The human enemies can prove to be a decent threat but the aliens can be kind of stupid. They're very prone to getting stuck in walls.Over all its not the absolute worst experience but it's still pretty disappointing especially when compared to Isolation. If you'd like to give it a try then i think you can get it from game stop for five bucks.

MemberNeomorphJan-25-2017 3:10 PMI think the game may have been rushed a bit as yes the story is a bit predictable but a decent playable game. not played the xeno mode yet though

MemberFacehuggerJan-25-2017 3:19 PMI'm inclined to agree that mediocre is the most accurate description for the gameplay. "Dumpster fire" is a better term for the story.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

Alien colonial marines review by angry joe
It resumes everything and its 30m of laughing non stop
Randy pitchford pitched a lie on e3 a beautifull game that is nowhere near the leve it was released and they released it with the e3 promo graphics and etc..randy pitchford is a shitter basicly..the worst shitter.
He sold the fans a lie...simply put...a pile of shit embezzled by huge promises and fake promos.
Acm remains one of the biggest let downs and faked games in human history.
Anyways the game is mediocre but as fan you can chew it just cuz why not.

MemberFacehuggerJan-26-2017 5:57 AMShort answer: Yes
Maybe if you manage to get it for some ridiculously low price you may be able to look at it differently, but as someone who preordered and got it for the full $60, the game was trash.
You could literally run through levels to beat them even on the highest difficulty, and the corporation shows up at like level 2 and stay the main villains for almost the whole game. The AI had like N64 logic behind it.
There was 1 fun level where you lose your gun and have to run around without it, but besides that there's nothing.

MemberDeaconJan-26-2017 6:21 AMI have TWO of them one for Xbox 360 and one for PS3 still in the wrapper and not played yet lol so i cant say.... but it seems pretty limited.
But thats the flaw really, a Aliens Game would be just as flawed and limited.... Alien one like Isolation may have worked as far as a Survival Horror type game.. even a Alien 3 game if it was made today in the same fashion.
But Action games where you have Xenos, Face Huggers, Queens vs Marines with different weapons is limited.
This is why the AVP games worked better as it gave more options sadly the AVP Franchise never transferred to screen well and was a wasted opportunity.
Now we have the Engineers and Black Goo and potentially various kinds of Xeno that could be created... i feel a NEW Marines Game could work...
