Shaw... Alive?!

I think it would however offer a bit of a Plot Hole, well it would have fans moan about how stupid the crew and movie is, if this happens.

Because surely Shaw would warn about David, which would make the crew also suspicious of Walter, if only one can be found at some point.

It would also make them cautious and we have to wonder how does a Alien then get on the Ship?

If i did this route that you mention, maybe it could work.. but have it Shaw is carrying a Alien unknown to her ;)

I think we will see Shaw alive either in a flashback or not able to help out the Covenant crew if alive. I can only guess.

This is what i think could of happened to her:

1.) She died accidentally ie; when the juggernaut landed or crashed or got dispatched by an engineer.

2.) She is in cryo-suspension.

3.) She was exposed accidentally or intentionally by the goo.

4.) She was knocked out by david and experimented on,

maybe facehugged or injected with something david concocted from the goo to further his creations evolution.

5.) Being a david test subject, she could be horribly mutated in one of the juggernauts compartments producing eggs as some horrible version of a xeno queen. this just speculation on my part.   

Along with cryo,I've thought the queen angle as well.Aliens Fire and Stone is a good frame of reference on what can happen when exposed to the black goo,a character by the name of Cale took on traits some what similar to the Xenomorph but still retained some human features.

Gidday ninXeno426, yes it could be any of the theories posted by members here, i suppose the writers would of pulled ideas from different alien franchise resources i am sure, but until the movie comes out its nice to speculate as BigDave said above.

I think shaws fate is being kept tight until the movies release and/or the release of the AC prequel novel that will cover the 10 yrs between prometheus and AC.

@BigDave, i feel shaw won't be in it until half way or close to the movies end, Ridley brought Noomi in close to live action completion, then she is only going to be in the film for a short period, after all hell has broken loose , hey i maybe wrong!

She'll appear in the last scene rescuing Daniels from certain death with a big flamethrower saying "Engineer this!"

My guess is that Shaw is dead and that they find her remains (near the name tag). The corpse has a strange hole in the ribcage. We will se a brief flashback scene and can later read about it in the prequel novel.

shaw may still be in cyro and towards the of AC, the covenant crew revive her?

this is maybe when shaw warns them of david, just after they discover david has a sinister agenda

On a serious note.  She did go down to Australia and film for 6 weeks during production, so she will be in the movie.

I hope that is not the case, hopefully she is dead but if she is alive then I hope that she will die early in the movie. That seems that it could go the route of the fact that she tells them what happened and they won’t listen to it makes the crew look stupid. Hopefully they won’t have it like this, I doubt that they will make the crew more stupid than Shaw (that would be a failure if they did).

She could be in a quick flash back but hopefully it won’t be more than that.

Chli has a good suggestion, I would go that route if I would make the movie.

@Thoughts_Dreams Yah, but I really do want to see a lot more of Shaw against the Neomorphs or zenomorphs or whatever. I feel like the characters from Alien Covenant are going to represent Ripley more than Shaw.... since Shaw was almost like a Ripley but then they had major differences. All I hope is that Shaw is in AC and her fate is described... maybe she saves the Covenant ship? That'd be a cool ending for Shaw.

As far as being more like Ripley I hope that they will make the characters into their own. Ripley is good but there are more ways to make a character other that basing them on an old one.

I see what you mean when you say that Shaw was like Ripley but that they were different. Ripley is a character that I can sympathize with but Shaw is a hopeless case.

You say that you want Shaw's fate to be described, I don't care about that. I would agree if it would be a character that I like but sadly she isn't.

i think at some points yes she was a bit naive and came across a bit silly,  HOWEVER there is a lot of things with AC that could lead to fans complain about how Stupid this movie is too.

I hope its really thought out, a lot depends on the process of how they found Paradise and what they know about it, i can see already the Flaws that some picked apart with Prometheus such as taking off their Helmets being replicated even more so in Alien Covenant.

But alas we need stupid mistakes to drive the Plot.

Otherwise the Covenant would survey the World via Probes, or even Drop Ship before landing, we have to assume they do this and then find a nice Level Area to Land as a lot of it is Forrest and Mountains/Lakes. 

It would raise how by Pot Luck they land not far from the Juggernaught without knowing what it is, we can only assume this is the area they detect a signal from.

If all of this happens... then logically if we are to have a Crew that follow safety protocols they would then land and send out a Team in Space Suits.. regardless of the Environment.

They would then find that Ship, and Temples with no signs of Life and then it would be a case of.

* Curiosity and lets have a look.

* Cautiousness this world was inhabited and this dont look right!

Then that would mean back to Ship ASP where they can then Plan what to do next and discus contingency plans.

No soon as they discover things, they would have Quarantine Procedures and take less risks.

But if they all acted like this we would not have No movie, it would be a case of...   Lets get out of here but lets inform Weyland-Yutani to survey this world with a more Secure Team and Contingency plans....    Hence Science/Military ship that sends down Synthetics first.

But the Covenant crew will make a few mistakes, its what would give us the movie, but i do hope they do try and make it more believable.

Maybe a Walter could be Key.... because as with Alien... if it was not for ASH the chances are the Alien would not have got on board in the first place.

I understand what you mean about Characters, Ridley has teased the Ripley connection, and it could be just how Daniels Character Evolves.   Ripley Started off in more of a more Hard-line Character than Daniels seems and indeed Shaw was.

Ripley was maybe not that different to Vickers, only Ripley cared more for her Crew and Vickers was more selfish but both strong headed and leaders.

I think Ripley had to really grow and change due to the horrific encounter in Alien, and Aliens even more so... so that by Alien 3 she was completely changed and that Hard Ass, Xeno But Whooping Heroine.

I think the Ripley connection is to have Daniels go though a traumatic event so that her Character has to also change like Ripley only the change is more instant for Daniels and serve, i think it Took Ripley TWO movies to get to the Ripley Character as far as Heroine and it was the End of Aliens when she changed Totally to this role.

I think Ridley Scott is going to give us a Daniels who would stand between a Shaw and Ripley Character as far as personality traits, she would not be as Hard-line Leader as Ripely from Alien but more so than Shaw in Prometheus.

But by the course of this One movie Daniels will be forced to change and evolve much like Ripley did in Aliens.

As for Shaw.....

It was Character Writing.... She has suffered a Traumatic Event and this could change her Character for the better, as we saw in the Alternative Ending with David where she was not so nice to him.

Shaws Character could have evolved, she is pissed off and wants answers and depending what she finds... like no soon as she finds out there is NO GOD in the traditional sense and those in Command above the Engineers or who created them are not Gods and so it would click that her Religion and Faith has nothing to base on.... and the beings who create are just Evil and Wicked Mother $"%£^&

This would surely then trigger a different change in Shaw and we could have seen her be more Bad-ass than Ripley.

So many ways her Flawed and Broken Character from Prometheus could be changed...

Rappace is a better Actress than Weaver, she is also pretty tough in reality a little pocket rocket... as far as fitness and strength,  Miss Weaver just had Height on her side.

Could Rappace had pulled off the Tough Bitch Arc?

I would say 100% yes.... given the Character Development, i actually think through her Naive believe and Religion there was a Greater Arc and Trauma to Ripleys, or even what Daniels faces.

Shaw would have to Face Facts with a Horrific Situation and Trauma of these Alien Life Forms... just as Daniels and Ripley had.

But more so... because She would also discovery her FAITH and her Hopes to find our creators is a Broken Lie....  So i think the Recipe for Change is far Greater with her.

Its a Shame we cant see this Arc Evolve...

Granted Shaw had faults.... but there was room to Evolve her and she could certainly Act the Part.
