Was David Preparing for the Covenant's Arrival?

It does seem likely as BD says, but I can't say that fills me with any real excitement as that possibly hints at David being the xenos creator and may link directly to the derelict in ALIEN.

I hope they don't go this route.  Seems less mysterious and kind of a let down . . . 

I can see how the whole fire stole from Gods etc fits with this potential David arc and who knows, maybe it could be really awesome . . .

I'm also beginning to think Shaw may have been turned into a kind of Queen . . . would explain where the eggs have come from.  Again, could work but seems, I don't know, a bit lazy if true?!  A Gigeresque birthing machine however . . . yes, please :)

I dont think shaw triggered a distress call, i think weyland tracked david and sent the covenant after him.

i think shaw drops the payload as per the trailer. Scott says shes integral to what david does???

i read recently that weyland corp know what went on on lv223, so they must have a link to davids head or the prometheus logs. David may very well have been experimenting, let him do it, then send walter to scoop up the proceeds.

i read that they are 'edging towards' the biomechanical xeno, so to me that means someone merges a robot with xeno dna or earth sends an army to deal with david and he develops the traditional xeno to defend him.

either way i dont think david is 'the' creator of xeno, there may be another actor at play, i  think it would be crazy if the xenos were a sub species of smart xenos who can do engineer type things. Imagine a talking xeno setting traps!! Cripes!!

I'd always fancied he'd possibly 'make' xenos but from a pre-existing recipe if you know what I mean?  

I posted  a topic a while back about how intelligent the xenos may be.  Don't know about setting traps ;) but I think they are smarter than the bugs they are (sometimes) made out to be.  There's human DNA in there, you have to assume, so . . .

I will add that what is still very intriguing is the black goo.  What it is, where it comes from, who 'made' it and for what purpose?  Hopefully AC and the next film(s) can delve into this a bit further . . .

i agree, the xeno clearly existed in some form well before david, the goo might be mixed with engineer dna to make the xeno.

i really think the xeno is a strain from a mightier organism, like a sacred cow, and the engineers either worship it or are servants to it.

i think most theories on here are really good, but we could all be off the mark, there could be elder engineers involv ed in it or something entirely unseen so far. David cant be that clever.

For awhile now, thinking of the mural in Prometheus, it clearly looked as if the Engineers admired or perhaps worshiped that xeno like being in the mural.

Perhaps as ive stated on another thread and @Babylonxeno suggested that the xeno's we know and fear are an offshoot or a replica of some long extinct race of creatures with technology and intelligence and they look like the being in the mural.

Maybe what happens on LV223, or possibly even before that, is the Engineers were trying to create a life form in their Gods image....and it went sideways and while it has some appearance traits of the beings they worship the result is the walking fever dream Alien creature we all know and love, and this led to their demise. 

It works well with the idea that we created David in our own image and he apparently will be our downfall, just some wild hypotheticals....but i would prefer some well done but imaginative storyline or explaination like this for example than some generic, Shaw is a queen  (which i pray and dont believe Ridley would do) although i think he would go the Giger birthing machine route which would be cool. I also hope they dont have David be the creator of the result i prefer they leave it to some ancient cosmic power and kind of open ended...like they did with the Space Jockey for 30 years, it worked well doing it that way, not everything needs exposition or spelled out in detail...i hope they leave some things open ended so we have something to talk about on threads like this and work our imaginations for another 30 years...just sayin'

I agree with the last post, whatever happened on lv223 was beyond the engineers control, their bio armour almost looks like its built to defend against a deacon. The goo could originate from the blood of a sacred species which 'accelerates' dna, or to put a metaphysical spin on it, blows open the chakras of life.
