Alien: Covenant Prologue (The Crossing) script

MemberXenomorphDec-10-2018 12:37 PMThanks to AVPGalaxy for this.
What do you think of it?
It seems it was intended to be in the film, instead they chose the David-Weyland dialogue as the opening scene.
"He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!"

MemberTrilobiteDec-10-2018 7:46 PMThanks for sharing- this would be an interesting movie in itself. David and Shaw- the wolf and sheep- reminds me of a song called Iconoclasm by Exodus:
Wolves they guard the flock
And they slaughter the sick and the weak
Sorrow is all that they find
When salvation is all that they seek

MemberChestbursterDec-11-2018 1:59 AMThis script is already in the public domain and was discussed last year. It was left out because it made it obvious from the beginning of the film where David was at mad irrational unpredictable.
Covenant was bad enough but as I said at the time if they had started like this I would have walked out of the Cinema.

I think the Crossing we got was better, while not as detailed. I find this earlier draft to be very Flawed and Poor. Its where do i start.... it really showed to me that John Logan was not the RIGHT person to really work on Alien Covenant. This Crossing early draft had a lot of things thrown in for the sakes of Convenience. Such as a Water Room that Dr Shaw could Conveniently bath in, and gain Water for her to Survive off, a Room where Fruit Grows for the Convenience of her being able to Eat. A Place/Device she could COOK meals.... i mean come on... did they not pay attention to the Juggernauts Schematics, and Purpose this is a WAR-SHIP, a Ship that Bo-Doubt can Travel Vast Distances (Why Else have Maps to other Galaxies) and so the indication we had was the Engineers load up with Bio-Weapon Cargo and then its either a Short Hop to their Destination, and any Travel that takes more than a few Days we can assume they go into Cryo-Sleep and awaken when they arrive at their Destination... Bombard Planet and then back into Cryo-sleep for the Journey Home.
I cant picture the Engineers staying awake on these ships, having Showers, Drinking Water and Eating/Cooking Fruit!
Other Flaws are such as Davids Head Floating around a Engineer ship for weeks, months while the Ship is traveling at FTL!
The Convenience the Ship has a Device that can be used to Harpoon onto objects in Space.
Then we come to David, and how Dr Shaw grew angry/fearful of his actions so she threw his head out the Ship, and had a distrust for him, and then she got persuaded so easily and then went on to have a Intimate Relationship, where when they then FINALLY arrive at Paradise, David is like Thanks for Putting me together and the SEX, i dont need you no more and SNAP! Breaks her Neck!
I dont find much of this Draft that good, and i think its kinda Lazy and Unimaginative, Full of just Convient Elements to drive a Plot...
The AC Prologue was much better and The Crossing we got too, i Guess Logan had a great deal to do with these, so he needs some Credit for that.

MemberNeomorphDec-18-2018 11:16 AMHmm, all it does is to confirm to me that David can’t be trusted and is an asshole. I did not like Covenant that much so this would not have done anything to improve or lower the quality to me at least. Shaw was better as a character in the Crossing because she did not seem as naive and annoying compared to Prometheus.
Did David and Shaw have sex in one of those drafts? Help us all if that is the case. I am glad that it never put on the screen.
Both Logan and Lindelof do not seem to be very good writers when it comes to characters because not Prometheus or Covenant is very good when it comes to that unless both movies were results of a bad day (or days) at work. What went wrong?

MemberTrilobiteDec-21-2018 12:31 AMDavid was well written but it seems most of the writing focused on that. If only...
The teasers all had better character development in general than the finished movies. And that's what they ultimately did- tease.
