'Alien' Celebrating 40th Anniversary With 6 Short Films
SuperAlien
MemberXenomorphMar-13-2019 6:38 PMAs it was anticipated, the 6 short films that won the Tongal / Fox competition will be soon released. The new movies will launch first at Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle this weekend. They will then be released weekly online by the entertainment site IGN beginning March 29, before being added to AlienUniverse.com and the @AlienAnthology social media channels alongside exclusive behind-the-scenes content starting May 5. However, the official debut of the project comes at this week’s Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle, where a selection of material from the project will be screened on Friday, with an additional screening set for March 23 at C2E2 in Chicago and March 30 at WonderCon in Anaheim.
Thanks to THR for the news.
More details and official description of the shorts can be found here.

MemberXenomorphMar-14-2019 12:38 AMYou're welcome, dk.
I won't be able to watch these shorts until June, I hope to read your comments here until then.
I am most curious about Alien Harvest.
And of course I still hope to get bigger news on Alien Day. Let this be the Alien Year.

MemberFacehuggerMar-14-2019 3:46 AMI thought they would release it on Alien Day. If they already upload it in March, what will be left? Is there going to be a bigger anouncement for April 26th?
By the way, the trailer looks good.

MemberTrilobiteMar-14-2019 5:08 PMIt is a bit lengthy, But here is a Mr H breakdown:

MemberDeaconMar-14-2019 5:27 PMIt is odd these wont all be released on Alien Day... maybe something else is planned? But i would not get expectations raised.
Thes Shorts look interesting... the ORE one looks a bit like the Star of Ridley Scott's Hennessy Commercial LOL
some of the Shots do look like what we could have expected from a Alien Covenant 2 if they followed one path i had explained a long while back (David experiments, they get out of control, he Quarantines a Area of the Ship) maybe he DIES! and then the Covenant arrives at Origae-6 and the other Sections of the Ship/Cryo-Pods are activated to open and the First Wave of Colonist go and explore, and override the Quarantine to enter that Section... WHICH they soon REGRET.
I offered this as a alternative sequel that would maybe please Fans who wanted a more ALIENY Movie... and have David play a Small Role.
Such a Plot is something that i would NOT have ruled out, if FOX continued with Alien Covenant but decided to Change the Direction that Ridley Scott wanted to go. I remember when i proposed something like this someone on here said thats like the Plot to Pandorum which i never came across so i checked it out a few months after. And so yeah a Pandorum Type Sequel to Covenant would indeed have similar scenes to some of those Shorts we saw in this Teaser!
If these Teasers Get a Good Reaction, maybe Disney would consider doing a Short Live Action Series? Say Total of 3-4 Hours. Split into 4-6 parts.

MemberDeaconMar-14-2019 5:36 PMLooking at the Descriptions, they all seem to follow a similar Formula, that will no doubt deal with something all too similar to our Xenomorph.
I had a number of ideas that were different (3 was) 2 was more Alien Fair... but then i could not take part in the Competition from my Location... and my Ideas would NEVER had fitted into a SHORT anyway LOL
One Idea actually covered the Arcturian's and reasons for that Pootang! Party! and it was basically not for the Benefit of those thinking they would be having a Great Time... much like NO Doubt the Frequent Visitors to TITTY TWISTERS were not expecting LOL
Also uncovered a Conspiracy Plot between Weyland-Yutani and the Arcturian's with a small indication loosely of the Engineers Past Involvement.

MemberTrilobiteMar-14-2019 7:41 PMWe have discussed this push for a long time- seeing what some Indies can come up with to advance the franchise. It looks very healthy and has tons of potential- I look forward to see where this goes!

MemberFacehuggerMar-15-2019 1:00 PMExcellent way to celebrate the anniversary. Looks promising (so far). Just hope it works as well as in 'The ballad of Buster Scruggs' by the Coen brothers.
Really looking forward to this.

MemberNeomorphMar-19-2019 9:34 AMThat short clip looks really good, hopefully the rest will be too. It will be interesting to see what kind of things that they have come up with. Hopefully we will not see more fluting androids.
123Engineer: What will be left? Well since this is the 40th anniversary of Alien I guess that there will be many things coming this year. I think that this is possible. Maybe we will not be getting much at April 26 but there is the rest of the year too.

MemberXenomorphMar-29-2019 2:01 PMWatch Containment, the first of the 6 short films dedicated to Alien 40th Anniversary, now streaming on IGN.
"To celebrate Alien's 40th anniversary and in partnership with Tongal, 20th Century Fox is releasing new Alien-universe fan-made short films leading up to Alien Day on April 26th. Written and directed by Chris Reading, the synopsis for "Containment" reads: "Four survivors find themselves stranded aboard a small escape pod in deep space. Trying to piece together the details around the outbreak that led to their ship's destruction, they find themselves unsure to trust whether or not one of them might be infected."

MemberTrilobiteMar-29-2019 7:31 PMContainment is pretty good. TBH, I have seen other independent Alienverse shorts just as good or better.
Containment is worth a watch though.
SuperAlien
MemberXenomorphMar-29-2019 9:48 PMI can't watch any video now.
If they will release one episode weekly, the last should be on around May 3.
Chances to get bigger news on Alien Day are close to nothing.
However, Fox should mark the day somehow.
We'll see.
