I hope you get to play David again, you did a memorable role in both Prometheus and Alien: Covenant!
Too idiosyncratic!
Bring me the tea, David!
Bring me this tea!

The OP begs the question- was David's birthday when his on switch was flipped, or when he realized he would outlive Weyland?

MemberXenomorphApr-02-2019 10:25 PMIt seems he realized that pretty soon, among the masterpieces displayed in the white room, he was a masterpiece himself.

MemberTrilobiteApr-03-2019 12:43 AMSo when would we say is his birthday- a specific date and time for our records or a moment for his? Ambiguous, yes, but it invites discussion for the fun of it.

Regarding David.... i found his Character interesting, but i am not sure it was quite the right direction taken in Alien Covenant.
I think some fans also see David's Character as being something that has KILLED off a number of Avenues that a Sequel to Prometheus could have explored.
*Follow Dr Shaw and her Quest for Answers when she Finally arrives at Paradise.
Nope she never gets them because David KILLS her.
*To Discover more about the Engineers, their Motives, Reasons for this and that.
Nope we never get anything because David KILLS them.
*Some Fans hoped we may see more clues about the Xenomorph and maybe what role LV-223 played.
Nope! We get the revelation that David creates them, from being Bored and wanting something to Destroy Mankind (this is how it can be interpreted by some).
These are THREE things i think Fans may have had high hopes for in the Sequels... but the Sequel became like the David show and he KILLED OFF the First Two things and was responsible for Number 3, really has upset/disappointed fans.
In reality these Plot Twists are what the Studio came up with, which have made a bit of a Hatred Towards David's Character.... i think it will be hard to get a David Character back on track that many fans would want to see.
But everyone is entitled to their opinions and indeed the Studio/Ridley Scott had made some bad decisions in context to how a sequel could have been handled.

MemberDeaconApr-04-2019 1:47 AMI think in context to seeing David again... It really is a case of maybe he has to play a lesser Role as his ARC has upset more Fans than those who wish to see what they deem a Mad Robot continue with his Conquest.
I think a Massive Problem could come from HOW LONG before they make a continuation... because its a case of do we look at a say David Android who has been around for Decades, prior to his First Likeness...
And then HOW he would AGE by 10-15 years by the time we get another Movie!
I think there could be a FEW work around's..
I think its SAFE to assume Fassbender will not be coming back to play a ONE-HANDED Robot! And so having SPARE parts for Walter could be Used! or go a Step Further by having a Spare Walter Body or Build One, and have David Transfer his AI/Soul into it!
The Walter Model did look to be somewhat Organic to a degree.. which opens up the Following!
1) If Walter Model are a kind of Synthetic Construct (Part Organic/Synthetic) then could he become Infected/Evolved with the Black Goo? We dont have to go to the Extreme that we saw with Synthetic Construct ELDEN from the Fire and Stone Comics.
But we could allow for David to change his Appearance/Skin texture and color which can mask the Age Difference of Fassbender.
2) Can a Synthetic Construct Age... so they Fit in more with Human Kind? And they can always be given a New SKIN-JOB if they wish to revert back to the Default Mid 30's looking Human likeness.
3) Could David Grow so much Bitterness to Mankind and being Cursed with their Likeness, that he would alter his appearance and remove his Skin-Job?
4) Does a incoming Human Ship have a New Walter Model that has a different appearance, that looks more Older and Maybe with a Beard? Which then David could Transfer his AI/Soul into?
5) Does such a incoming Human Ship have a different Synthetic and David Transfers his Soul into that and thus we use a Different Actor?
6) Finally does David Create a Race/Being that he finds a way to Transfer his AI/Soul into? or does so to a Engineer's Body?
so yeah there are ways to continue with David, in-spite of how much older Micheal Fassbender gets or even if he would not want to reprise his Role! If Fassbender chooses to not want to be a part of another movie..
Then we introduce a Damaged David like we saw with Bishop in Alien 3 and then have someone HELP or the Synthetic/Being he will Transfer his Soul into be compliant with Davids wishes.
EDIT:
I will add its more likely that they would just use Oversight, and Nitpick on such Details..
They could have it down to David not having any Maintenance and some Process or Supplement taken/applied Externally or Internally is what Maintains the Synthetic Skin, and without such the Skin can Degrade/Age....
This would be more difficult to explain with a Walter Model who we can assume is more Advanced to the point of being able to have some Self-Maintenance.... some Regenerative Properties.
But we also see this with David (the healing of the Wound in his Neck) and in other drafts he was supposed to be wounded in the Eye and it Regenerates. So you would expect their SKIN to maintain its Youthful Look that it was when they came off the Factory Assembly Line.

MemberNeomorphApr-10-2019 8:44 AMI am not pointing finger at anyone particular because I am not sure who’s idea it was to make it all about David and to make him so evil. Whoever made that decision really effed up because obviously someone somewhere decided to do that.
“Bring me the pee David! The pee!” - Weyland paraphrased
(Weyland pours it into his drink to see how it tastes. Decides that no sugar is needed)
Crappy joke completed, sorry but I couldn’t resist.
David was interesting in Prometheus, he was one of the highlights but they made him into a simple evil bad-guy in AC. In Prometheus he was more ambiguous, something that I liked. As far as killing off the Engineers that was a bad thing because it could have been very interesting to see what they could have done with them if they would have allowed them to be in the movie like the Engineer in Prometheus. To have David being responsible for the Xenos is so lame. That was probably the worst decision that they could have done about its origins next to that humanity creates it.
Give David less of a role, only then will I be OK with it.
