- films are made with a gap of several years

Interesting point. That gives a lot of flexibility for sequels and off shoots.

I am also very intrigued by this storyline. What will happen to the colonists? What are Davids plans?

I think it depends on when the story takes place. Is it 2 years? 5 or even 15? In the beginning there might be survivors, but over the following years, I dont think a lot will survive.

Certainly would seem he would have NO budget from Disney ;)

Its interesting to ponder what RS may have planned, because it was NOT going to be about Xenomorphs... and Budget Wise a movie set on a Planet, that has Humanoids is Financially Cheaper than Space Scenes and Complex very Alien Organisms like the Xenomorphs.

Its interesting to ponder what makes those Planet 4 Engineers and Prometheus Engineers different, many have concluded or pondered that those Planet 4 Engineers have to be Human/Engineer Hybrids, because they look so much LESS Godlike than the Engineers in Prometheus.

But thats if you look at the Top Down Approach of GOD Creators, vs Creations... we see Weyland was a Creator too, but is he more Godlike than his Creation David?

So indeed its likely those Prometheus Engineers were Enhanced, Augmented beings.  I dont think we are likely to ever explore such things about the Engineers, or what ever David would create in Future..... i think such things are Dead as far as the Franchise.

I think such things are always fun to speculate about, even in regards to REAL-LIFE implications... which have been covered in a number of Sci-Fi movies and Shows...  so indeed if Mankind Engineered Perfect Humans, with Enhanced Traits, for the Purpose of Military or as Servants/Slave Work Force..

The Hubris is always there of these beings, Rebelling and Overthrowing their Creators, and IF these beings can Reproduce then we could be in TROUBLE..

Certainly Interesting themes, that The Planet of the Apes also cover in part.. If Mankind attempted to Create Hybrid Apes/Humans that gain Human Intelligence... then a REAL WORLD scenario like the Planet of the Apes could happen.. but NOT if we Destroyed them before they GOT out of hand.

Which Mirrors really maybe WHY the Engineers would have wanted us Destroyed.   And we could certainly ponder if such Hubris had caused the downfall of the Engineers, and ponder was their conflict between the Planet 4 and LV-223 kinds?

Would have been interesting to see David Engineer a NEW Human Race, and what Truths/Lies he would tell them to keep them in Check... and then watch this GO TO POT when other Humans Turn up and Revelations that come from this.

But in regards to the Topic... it would be interested to see HOW FAR would David Evolve those Embryos and would they use some Unused Concepts (Engineer Concepts, and Engineer/Fifield Mutations) for Inspiration to what kind of Appearance these Humans may have had?

As in maybe use some of the Elongated Head Aspect that we never quite saw in our Engineers in the Prequels.

This Elongated Head could be Engineered to cater for a Higher Capacity Brain/Intelligence and Telepathy/Telekinesis/Psychokinesis.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumTraits of the franchise

I think it comes down to the Franchise in part trying to OFFER different routes...  The Alien Franchise covered a lot of what you listed.  The Prequels had attempted to introduce something more than seeing Human Characters Put in Jeopardy by contact with Hostile Xenomorph Organisms, that some Nefarious Company on Earth wish to obtain.

Prometheus attempted to steer away from the Tropes of Alien Franchise, and while Alien Covenant returned to some of them, it appears that Ridley Scott had intended to make Alien Covenants sequel FAR less Alieny than Alien Covenant was.

While Prometheus attempted to explore something NEW, it was always going to be Shackled to the ALIEN Franchise where Fans would expect any Prequel to have Answers to the Xenomorph Origins and Introduce our Face Hugging little Friends..

A number of the Themes that the Prequels were trying to explore are a bit of a Distraction from what Fans Expect a ALIEN movie should be about.

So SADLY i feel IF we ever get a Prequel that will Tie-Up the events that BEGAN with Prometheus and END with When/How and Why those Eggs got onto the Derelict it will be a Movie that would By-Pass Certainly what ever Ridley Scott had plans for as far as the NEXT 1-2 movies would have.

It would be likely it would be some kind of After-Math Movie... to what ever happens NEXT in the years 2105-2115, much like how Alien Covenant Barely covered what happened between 2094-2104 and we would likely get a more Alieny Movie than even Alien Covenant, because i feel thats what Disney Feel the fans would be interested in.

I would not even BANK on a Prequel... they could go for a Sequel within the Alien Franchise, and maybe even reveal details within this that would Contradict the Prequels as far as the Plot of David creates the Xenomorph.  And so would not answer what was Davids version then and what becomes of it!

BigDave Probably David won't engineer nothing fancy because of budgetary constraints. He most tighten the belt.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumStar Children (Evolutionary Step of Mankind).

We could discus Genetic Evolution in context away from the Franchise too!

But in regards to what David could Create from those Embryos or consider what the Engineers could Manipulate with a Humanoid, then indeed we could see beings that are.

*Immune to Most Genetic Ailments, Disorders and Diseases.

*Reduced Aging Process, maybe some degree of Organic Regeneration.

*Superior Strength that is 4-6X that of a Average Man

*Superior Speed and Agility that is 2-3X Faster than a Average Man

*Superior Intelligence that is 2-3X Greater than a Average Man

*Improved Senses which include Eyesight, Hearing and Smell

*Improved/Engineered ability Respiratory wise, to survive longer periods without Oxygen and in Environments with Less Oxygen.

Maybe even Engineering a Larger Stature from a Engineered Being?

Surely it looks like maybe those Planet 4 Engineers had done this before to give us those Prometheus Engineers, and i do speculate that David would attempt to create a Humanoid that is more superior to Humans, Engineers and those Enhanced Prometheus Engineers.

Could some kinds of Evolution also bring about some kind of Telepathy Communication?  And indeed other Special Abilities such as Telekinesis/Psychokinesis.

What a Perfect Being that would make... what a Perfect HOST for a Xenomorph like Parasite too.

@123Engineer The longer this list is the more I wonder why I stick around.

I would like only to comment your claim that "secondary characters don't survive ". All the three examples you provide were killed off because the studio thought better and generated complaints. Even now there many who want Alien 5 to bring back Newt and Hicks. And let me ask you since when an actor playing a secondary role is the first one to be mentioned at the beginning off the film (Fassbender was only the second as opposed to Covenant where he is the first)? And it is the first character to be introduced and leaves the final message. By the sequel things David does those things. We already know from C. Huante interview that she was there in the early stages of the story.

We can go different ways, but a TV series seems best imo. Animated could be great too. I am not a book fan, but the franchise could go that direction too.

Interestingly, I have not seen much demand for a full on theatrical movie lately. The idea of alternate forms of the franchise seem to prevail..............Bring it on!!!

I haven't watched it yet, but only because I haven't had the time. I hope to binge through it tonight.

Complaints are becoming increasingly typical and annoying. Nothing but entitled whiney fans not getting their way.Would you rather have nothing? I guess so!Just like many fans hit the abort button on Black Out and haven't bothered to play it (Please do. it's not Isolation but it was never meant to be,damn good in it's own right)

A show really isn't my preference, but I'll take it.I'm a fan and will continue to consume Alien obsessively in any shape way or form.

The actresses are pretty much built in- Andrea Deck for the voice:

and Kenzia Burrows for the animation and character model:

For a live action though, do you go for appearance or the voice?

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumSupporting the Franchise by dropping a Deuce on it- That's the Spirit!

Question would be IF there is any chance Disney would go for a Live Action Movie that would NOT center around Ellen Ripley?

I know there are a number of Amanda Ripley fans who would think that taking some of Blomkamps Ideas but exploring them through a Amanda Ripley would be more interesting.

Its who would PLAY a Amanda Ripley?  If Disney would be interested in exploring this route and invest a decent budget i would say they cant go wrong with either Daisy Ridley or Karen Gillan

Saying that i think either Felicity Jones, Emilia Clarke or Ana de Armas could also be good options.

I guess it depends on HOW TALL they would want a Amanda though, if they want her closer to a 5ft11-6ft Ellen Ripley then thats going to limit choice of Actresses a little..  and find someone who looks like her Game Character.

Which only really Karen Gillan would be more ideal at 5ft 10

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumSupporting the Franchise by dropping a Deuce on it- That's the Spirit!

I think it will be interesting to see whats NEXT for the Franchise, as it appears the Amanda Ripley Trio which consists of Alien: Black Out Game (Play) Aliens: Resistance Comic (Read) and the Alien: Isolation Digital Series (Watch) are a Parting Gift from FOX

So while this Digital Series has not pleased everyone, it would be interesting to see whats next NOW that the Franchise is Owned by the POWERHOUSE that is Disney.

I do think any ideas of the Prequels, and any explanations of the Cargo Hold or Space Jockey Fate are going to be put on the BACK-BURNER.

So i expect Disney to likely expand upon the Ripley Characters, mainly upon Ellen Ripley, in various Mediums... which could well include the Niel Blomkamp's Reboot Alien 3 Project that James Cameron is Championing.

Likely if this route is taken, that we would get at least 2 Ripley Movies before passing the Torch to Newt, in more of the same Eggs and Queens Tropes!

I would not even be surprised if down the Line, we have Amanda Ripley had a Daughter too Scenario!

"One thing that I was excited about was that this was released not on Alien Day."

That is a interesting thing to consider...  this ALIEN DAY would be the one of the Biggest in the Franchises History.. you would imagine prior to Alien Covenant or IF that movie had been a Success then indeed  4:26:2019 would have likely had something Special In-Store.... as it would have been the 40th Anniversary of ALIEN release. 1979 that is.  If Alien Covenant had been a hit, and we never had the Disney take over, i would be pretty sure that Alien Covenants Sequel would have been released this year.

So it would be interesting to see what they have in store, but i would not be raising my Expectations too HIGH.. that way we can only be Surprised, instead of Disappointed.

What is LV-426?

This was the Big Question... in ALIEN this was a World/Moon that the Derelict Ship was stranded on, its position was always as though it came to rest/perched on top of something.   But the Official Answer was that the Ship was carrying that Cargo of Eggs, and it was going some place before the Pilot was Infected.   And hence Crashed on LV-426.

Ridley Scott had expanded upon this at the time after Prometheus to suggest the Ship Did-Not Crash so to speak, but still indicating the Space Jockey had laid Course for this Baron World to Quarantine the Cargo after it was Compromised.

There have been many many debates about the Egg Chamber, which revolve around its Size compared to the Ship, and also indeed when looking at the Decent by Kane, he did say it was some kind of Cave.... but it Did-Not look like some kind of Cave it had the same kind of Structure Aesthetic as the Derelict.

However in the Alien Isolation Bonus Mission, when they descend into the Egg Chamber it indeed does look like like Cave Structure (at Entry) due to what appeared to be Stalactite Formations.

However.... from the Game these could be just the result of a Acid Melting from the Pilot Chamber to the Cargo Hold that lead to similar formations like  Stalactite.  The HOLE is also Larger in the Game than i recall from ALIEN.

So its still very Ambiguous at the Moment, despite Ridley Scott suggesting the Cargo Hold was Part of the Ship... but then INDEED this Cargo Hold would NEVER fit in the Ship.

This Ultimately is a Oversight, but with so many flaws, that its open to be explored as a separate CARGO storage in Future.   It really depends on HOW they intended to explain the whole Scene as far as Cargo Hold.

I have done detailed analysis of the Cargo Hold a number of times on here,  Here was one of the Last Ones The Cave

I cam up with this image which to me is what the Cargo Hold would look like compared to the Derelict, which could mean the Ship was Carrying the Cargo Hold still.

Initially yes there was planned a Separate Egg Cargo Hold/Pyramid Mound and Derelict Ship.

But due to Budget/Time Restraints we ended up having them combined, despite the discrepancies, i will add that when i studied the Internal Cargo Hold, it seemed to be laid out in a pattern like some Flowers and so likely indeed similar shape to the Image i Posted with the Derelict

Will we ever get a definite Answer on Screen or in Comic or otherwise?  Who knows...

The Current Answer is it was part of the Ship.... but who knows what route Alien Covenant would have led us too.

Thank you for the link BigDave to the Final Fantasy trailer...I thought it looked great for when it was made (and still looks good now).

Bingo..love it, fan factions. I'm in the Alien Comic faction trying to shake hands with the Live Action Canon Puritans faction.

One thing that I was excited about was that this was released not on Alien Day. So, one might expect an announcement of something else on April 26, 2019 and not this digital series. I actually liked the series and the tie in to what we see from Amanda Ripley in the comics.

Alien Isolation Digital Series

The image below was an interesting part of the series.

The image is interesting because it was referred to as a "cavern" (Episode 4). The Alien novelization treats the egg chamber the same way and this area is below ground.

What is LV-426?

I agree dk regarding the animated examples if done decent with a good story and this is a good start in expanding through Amanda Ripley, below.

For Gamers (of which I am not one) I’m sure Isolation is fine. As for myself, I struggled through the dire 7-episode animated digital series and wished I hadn’t bothered. It is terrible. IMHO it doesn’t have a single idea worthy of making into a movie. People you don’t care about running around a space station trying to evade a xenomorph. It’s been done to death already. Keep it as a game. If you’re a movie maker, dream up big new ideas and give every film its own unique flavour.

BD- The Starship Troopers looks really good and is similar in style as RE Degeneration https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCFYZJcIo7Y .

Animated shows are just fine if done like these examples.

As you said, the story is what's important. The medium is really secondary and should defer to our ability to fill in the blanks with our imaginations- do we dare?

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumPrometheus is dead...long live Prometheus

I think the ideas that PROMETHEUS had laid down,  are still interesting and it would be a SHAME to Can them!

Why i think that a NOVEL to cover such things are the way to go... a Series of THREE would do the Trick!

The Alien Covenant Origins was a interesting attempt.. i feel a Novel that would give more Depth to what becomes of Weyland Industries after its CEO and Daughter go AWOL, while touching upon the Conflict between both companies prior.  So yes a Prequel to Alien Covenant Origins Novel, that would also set up as a Prequel to Prometheus could be ONE direction to take a Novel.

A Novel that covers David and Dr Shaw from maybe when Dr Shaw had collected Davids Head/Body, or just from the Expanding Point of the Crossing... until the events of Months, Years prior to the Covenant Mission.

Then Finally a Novel that covers what happens from after Alien Covenant, until say ALIEN or setting up another Movie/Novel that would connect to ALIEN.. so basically a Novel that covers what ever Alien Covenants sequel would have covered..

Leading to what happens next to be covered in a MOVIE, a Comic or Animated Movie/Short...    I feel likewise any Story that covers what happens to LV-223 (unless this would be covered in the series that chronologically has events from Alien Covenant to ALIEN...  would also benefit from a Comic or Animated take on it..  (not inc Fire and Stone as i consider them a Alternative as they connect to the Predator Franchise too).

Basically any potential Popcorn/Action Stories to be covered in a Comic or Animated/Anime form could be the way to go.. and any more Deep, Thought Provoking and Historical Stories that DONT revolve around Xenomorphs should be covered in NOVEL format.

I am sure Fans of the Prometheus/Ridley Scott Concepts wont mind having to Read and then think/imagine how the words/scenes described would appear visually in your head (as books offer).   Leave the Popcorn stuff to Comics/Animated.

I feel these are maybe the BEST way forward at the Moment, as its unlikely we would be seeing a MOVIE apart from a ALIENS Re-hash! AKA Cameron Terminator 6 2019/Blomkamps Alien 5

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumPrometheus is dead...long live Prometheus

Certainly share your Concerns....

The Franchise is more than Ripley, Eggs, Face Huggers, and Xenomorphs/Queens..  While these still make money and interest, its a case of ONCE you have gone over and over these Tropes, its then WHATS NEXT?

To Continue this way, things could get stale especially with a few STINKERS!

AVP was a decent Popcorn Flick, it may have given a conflicting history on Weyland, the Xenomorph and how little was known about it in ALIEN.. but it was a decent stand alone Popcorn Flick!

A continuation could have worked... if it was done RIGHT! but as AVPR showed... this is how a continuation can SUCK! If they MILKED the Ripley and Queens, and we got another 3-4 movies, it only takes 1-2 of them to be DUDS and it could discredit the ENTIRE Franchise!

Sadly the Franchise of ALIEN and Predator are both in a bit of a Problem Area at the moment....

And i am not sure doing a Cameron's Plans for TERMINATOR with the ALIEN Franchise would be the way to go, because once we start to DISCOUNT the Stinkers and Start Again.. its where do we STOP?

How many times can the Terminator Franchise just keep Rebooting and giving us Arnie T-800's and having Sarah and John Connors...  eventually we would have to ask, do we use the Original Terminator 2 cast?  Or how long before we have Movie after Movie with different people being cast as the Main Characters?

Sometimes you can expand the Franchises, but introduce NEW Stories and Characters... or have a way to PASS the Torch on to a New Character who will then take over, while other Characters are removed...  The NEW Star Wars Trilogy was doing this... but even this sometimes does-not work.

But i think the main FLAW was just Rian Johnson but the ALIEN Franchise only needs another Stinker to make it hard to recover from... to a degree Alien Covenant was viewed as such, and hence maybe the Reluctance to even go back to the Prequels.

If a ALIEN 5 comes out and performs/disappoints like The Predator for example... then we have to ASK.. where do we go then?

The same would HOLD TRUE for Star Wars EP9 and Camerons New Terminator Flick... if they disappoint/do bad, then those Franchises would likely be left ALONE!

But Nostalgia is the Cause of a lot of it.... sometimes its a case of making complete Reboots/Alternatives rather than any continuation (Planet of the Apes, TMNT, Robocop etc) and these can work, but then they can equally not do well.

I would not like to see such a Attempt with the ALIEN Franchise or Predator however..... and i can see that a Blomkamps Alien 5 would be like doing what the HALLOWEEN 2018 Movie attempted.. but even if this works i am not a fan of Ret-con any of the ALIEN or Predator movies.

AVP series apart ;)  I think this needs a REBOOT!

Does this Story Work?  Would a continuation with a Higher Budget for more Polished CGI work?

Reply
BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumSupporting the Franchise by dropping a Deuce on it- That's the Spirit!

I think again its Expectation....

After years of waiting, some would be disappointed we STILL have not got what they deem a real ALIEN movie... some could be Lamenting over the wait for Blomkamps Alien 5.

And some would have been wanting to see the Prequels Finished...

And so a Animated TV Short is something that would not be enough for them.... i think even Fans of Alien Isolation may have been hoping for a Live Action Series...

As long as the Story Works... i dont see the Problem myself.

Reply
BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumSupporting the Franchise by dropping a Deuce on it- That's the Spirit!

I think with a bit more Polish/Quality then Animated Series does offer a more low cost avenue...  and i dont hink Financially its as Expensive to end up with a Decent Project.

The Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within movie was Great, but Expensive because it was pushing CGI Boundaries at the time.  But to come with this Quality in todays Climate is much cheaper...   Much like the Starship Troopers Affair

Alas it wont please every Fan, who would expect Live Action but then these cost more money and when your trying to portray a CGI Xenomorph against a Live Action Scene/Cast it has to be very HIGH quality for it to look Good.

Offering us what is in effect a Glorified Comic, may not be such a bad thing, the next step down would be a Traditional Animated Series (like Japanese Anime)

I think as a low cost way to expand the Franchise as alternative to a Graphic Novel or Comic, its maybe a way to go... i know some fans would despise it... but then would these fans have a problem with the Comics?

So if done right they would be like a Moving Comic, where you can bring home more a sense of Fear/Suspense with Dialect, and Music etc to bring more Realism...

But indeed it would not be as Real as a Live Action version, but then i guess we have to look at the Potential $$$$$ in doing Live Action.

I think regardless of the Medium... if the Story is Good, the Acting/Dialect and Visuals then i think its a Winner... if these are BAD... then it makes no difference as a Stinker is a Stinker!

A Well Done Anime or CGI Animated can be better than a poorly done Live Action. Especially if Said Live Action has some Suspect CGI

Had a Quick Flick through the Videos... and they do seem like the Cut Scenes, merged with some New Scenes that are just a bit more polished than the In-Game Scenes and yes there is some pretty BAD Lip Sync issues.

I have to go and watch them in full, I do think a bit more Polish and Quality like say the Starship Troopers then such TV Shorts/Movies could work for Disney...  They would be like Glorified Comics... but would for many FALL short of a Live Action Series or Movie..

But would be more Cost Effective.

ninXeno426Alien: Covenant ForumPrometheus is dead...long live Prometheus

The various people I talk to about Prometheus have been to the cinema to see Green Book, Colette and Its a matter of sex. I can find no evidence they are playing games on computers with scenarios of Ripley verse The Creature. I say that to show how disengaged my grouping who wanted Prometheus 2 is from the core fan segment who want dark corridors, dripping water and somebody called Ripley or "Another glorious day in the corps." Am I allowed, without being rude, to say how desperately anchored, how artistically bankrupt such thinking is ?

This I a fare assessment, But it's all a matter of personal opinion. For Example my Mother, much like me,her favorite film is Aliens. She did not care much for Prometheus. She's 52 now, she initially rejoiced when Neill Blomkamps Alien 5 was announced because she was excited about the prospect of seeing Ripley again. Similar with my father who is 57,I never really knew his opinion of Prometheus, but I am aware he enjoyed Covenant for being an Alien film.

Opinions on Prometheus as well as Covenant differ from Alien community to community. I see Those that love Prometheus and condemn Covenant and Vice versa. Some love both, some hate both.As I've said I enjoyed Prometheus for being different, and Covenant for being Alien. To be fair and honest I will say I was initially disappointed with Covenant when I saw it in its opening weekend. It wasn't until my second viewing on DVD that I appreciated Covenant for what it was instead of condemning it for what it wasn't.

The point of this topic is to show that thanks to mtments in the Alien saga such as the Amanda Ripley campaign consisting of the Mobile Game Alien Blackout,Aliens Resistance and the upcoming Aliens Rescue,an Alien Isolation digital series courtesy of IGN,and an upcoming Alien Isolation novelization. That and the possibility of Alien 5 being resuscitated,it feels as if the powers that be at 21st Century Fox are putting Prometheus, as well as David 8 and Elizabeth Shaw in there rear view mirror, and putting  focus on the name Ripley, which is more loved and fondly remembered than anything Prometheus related. For better,or for worse.

I agree....

Its if they have confidence in RS and his ideas, or they (Disney) would think Camerons ideas would make more money!

The Prequels being Finished would be ideal.... even if its in the form of  NOVEL...  the Question is IF we have Cameron given the Green Light would he pay Respect to the Prequels?

Or explore his own things that may conflict the Prequels or plans on how they could have expanded/ended.

So my FEAR is they do a Blomkamp lets Ignore Alien 3 and Alien R, and have a Aliens 2 instead.. and it DOES WELL...

We would get a Blomkamp/Cameron Aliens 3 that may conflict the Prequels and then EVEN see a Reboot of the Prequels..

Where we would have more a Aliens Apocalypse The Destroying Angels kind of Space Jockey.

Where we would likely only see HOW and WHY the Eggs came to be, and would not expect much about the Space Jockey Race.

And the Space Jockey would likely be a SKELETON!

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumTwo live-action Alien series in the works

I think Financially it would be a RISK.... to cover what happened between Prometheus and Alien Covenant, but surely getting a NOVEL would be Great as its Cheap, and they can go into more Detail than you could on Screen.

"Maybe they could go into the direction from an earlier version of the script, where E. Shaw hides in the catacombs of the planet"

Ive not heard of that, is it from a Script you have read?

I do know that some of the Reporters on Set for Alien Covenant had said they had the feeling that the Place Dr Shaw was held up in (on the Juggernaught) looked as though she was trying to Hide from David.

Could be who knows....

I am more drawn to David giving Dr Shaw a Excuse they was Attacked, he tried to escape and the Cargo Deployed during the attack or he had NO CHOICE in order to Protect her....   So he then informs her the Planet is Contaminated for some time, and she is best to stay in the SHIP.

He would then go to places that are not infected to get her Food/Water... i feel this is what happened... but she got Suspicious and decided to VENTURE out one day and then Discovered what David really was up to and then tried to Escape!

Edit:  Certainly has a kind of 10 Cloverfield Lane Vibe to it, so i am not sure how many would sit through a movie that has a large amount of time just around David and Dr Shaw... but surely it would also show scenes of David off to do his Experiments... and it looks like some Engineers Survived but would be in NO condition to Fight!

What Horrors and Torture were those Survivors put through, and did they Plead with David and offer him information?  So yeah there is a WHOLE story there.

I am more drawn to this.... thats not to say this was the case, or even if they had any Plot to what happened in the Past prior to the Covenant Arrival....  But certainly is something a NOVEL could cover..

Something i have Pondered on working on, as a Fan Made Fiction as i have a number of ideas.

Certainly Thoughts_Dreams

I agree that a little more thought would help with some scenes, i gave some explanations to WHY we kind of ended up with what we had, and Totally agree some things that was in draft/novel to explain some silly scenes SHOULD have been added... My attempts to offer Alternative Scenes that made more sense would ALSO had likely been thrown out because it would have made Scenes a bit too long...

I can understand that Dr Shaw should have valued her Life more than the Head, but sometimes people do make Rash Decisions for things that are Ultimately on a Personal Level not as Important than you own LIFE...   some people would risk their Lives to save a Baby thats NOT even theres... some would maybe not... for Dr Shaw all she had was her Faith and Work (and Holloway) and if she had a Great Deal of Faith in her GOD, she would maybe be more willing to take Risks knowing that Death would only lead her to Paradise...

But indeed it was not the most Rational Choice she made, but sometimes people can do such things.

Regarding Fifield.. i agree this was not the best version, and its a shame we never got more Time/Money spent on giving us a better version or Polish up the CGI one  a bit more.  I for one was not a Fan of Toxic Avenger Fifield ;)

Regarding the Engineers, i also feel we should have seen more of them, and while it may have indicated a Prometheus 2 may have seen them or most of them KILLED off i would like to think a Prometheus 2 would not have done so in the same Fashion as we saw in Alien Covenant and even if it did... i am sure we would have had a few Survivors who we could have learned more from...  Alien Covenant was kind of a After-Math to what a Prometheus 2 may have been.   Also as i have said a number of times they could have had Dr Shaw and David go to a place FAR FAR away... and still have Human Characters by virtue of us asking.... is EARTH the only place where Humans are in the Galaxy, could the Engineers have many Human Settlements?

This certainly would have meant No-Need to bring Paradise right on the Door Steps of LV-223/426.  So indeed a bit more thinking by those working on the Sequel could have gave us some other Humans.

"I would rather have that than what Scott did with AC if the next movie would mean more androids."

I can certainly see that Problem, i feel it would concentrate on David quite a lot, which is not to most peoples cup of tea.. the AI aspect however i feel does not mean its about DAVID because its about AI, or other Robots... the AI aspect would simply be regarding a Artificial Creation... which again would be about David having a Big Part in said Artificial Creation and by that i think the AI Creation would be David Re-Engineering/Evolving those Human Embryos...

To a Degree in context of Prometheus/Alien Covenant, Mankind is maybe also a AI unless the Creation from the Sacrificed Engineer is anything Natural?  Even the Biblical Creation of Adam is a indication of Artificial Creation to a degree.

While a AI Creation as such could be interesting, i feel that its a bit of a DISTRACTION from what fans expect from a ALIEN movie, and ONE that is to connect to ALIEN... but i think the Big Problem for many is that having explore Humans being Engineered is ONE THING... but having David being the Puppet Master in it all will not sit to well with many.  So i agree most fans would not like the Focus on David.

Regarding the XENOMORPH... i understand it fits with the Philosophical Themes... but i think its a mistake... having him PERFECT his own version is more fitting, or have the Engineers shown as taking Davids Xenomorph and Perfecting it.

Anyone thinking or wishing those Eggs on the Derelict are something the Engineers Created or Came Across Thousands of Years ago... seems a bit WISHFUL at the moment...

But things can Change...

I agree the David is the SOLE Creator of the Xenomorph is not the right route to take the Franchise.

ignorantGuyAlien: Romulus 2 NewsAlien: Isolation digital miniseries confirmed by 20th Century Fox!

The series was not that great, the editing was bad (fox logo blinking in and out during an episode, what was that about?) and the lip sync was awful (the game was mostly 1st person and the limitations of the game engine were hidden). On the bright side they used cues from both Goldsmith and Kurzel ...

If the quality is indicative of the financial status of Fox, I'm sorry for them.

123EngineerAlien 5 NewsJames Cameron intends to revive Blomkamp's Alien 5 at Disney?!

I don't think it is a good idea if J. Cameron would go with Blomkamp's Alien sequel soon. First Fox should let R. Scott finish his prequel series. I know it is very unlikely that they give him full freedom in creativity but they should.
