I have to agree with them... but the Worst Movie? I have not watched the Video, but Alien Covenant was a massive Disappointment and a Complete Miss-use of the Material as far as what could have been and to a degree YES it was a Cash Grab... Then again i can say the same for SW Ep 8 its disappointment to me follows similar path to AC, but The Last Jedi is making $$$$$
They have written themselves into a corner now... but i have a few ideas how they can get out of this and please the majority of the fans... maybe i need to work on my Alien Covenant Sequel and finish it off, which i am considering calling Alien: Ascension i need to also find what i have not lost regarding my Prometheus Re-write and my Prometheus 2 and Finish/Redo them and post them for you guys.
I think these concepts with others could show that David had been fascinated with the Black Goo and its effects on Organic Life, and it appeared David may have wished to in effect Upgrade Shaws Genetics but in the end he (after she rejected this) had her body parts used to aid David in his Creations.
I had mentioned some theories way before Alien Covenant came out.... at a time as no soon as i saw the leaked Set Photos of Davids Workshop and i noticed those Baby Skulls i noticed they are Human Baby Skulls and this got me wondering if David actually managed to help/make Shaw have babies... it got me thinking back then about the COVENANT and how this name could apply, and i was drawn to ponder if David offered Dr Shaw a Covenant, were he could GRANT Shaw the one thing she maybe wanted more than anything (other than her Questions Answered) and this was to bare Children.... something she could not, and thus she had NOTHING to go back to (Earth) and only had her FAITH and persuit of Answers.
So those leaked Props made me wonder if David had said to Dr Shaw he could fix her Womb to allow her to have Children, but something went wrong.... either their Relationship Fell Apart (maybe after she found out what David had planned and done) and so David then experimented on those Babies, or she rejected Davids offer but then he just decided to use her to birth Hosts for his Experiments.
I was drawn to this months before AC came out, and upon seeing AC i think it appeared by the clues maybe this did happen after all (but also maybe Engineers was used).... but it was only after the DVD and Extras etc were we find out actually those Baby Skulls belong to Engineer infants and how it was revealed in Davids notes that he had used Engineer Infants, that he did this likely because Shaw rejected, and so Shaw was used to Harvest her Eggs for his Creations.
When i look at the Concepts like the OT, it appears at some point in AC Production that the idea may have been that David could have INDEED offered Dr Shaw chance to Have Children, and i assume maybe he had told her could do this for her but she would need to be EVOLVED with the Black Goo made into a Hybrid of Sorts so Dr Shaw could be Evolved and then this would allow her to Bare Children... its likely this shocked her and she rejected and (on top of other rejection from Dr Shaw) David chose to use her for Harvesting her Egg Cells for his Experiments.
The Source i had in Feb 2015 did mention a Female being connected to a Bio-Mechanical Device, they said that Dr Shaw plays a small Role, she is incapacitated for the most part, that David will attempt to Re-create it (Xenomorph/Deacon) and all he needs is the Tools and Knowledge on how to Create the it and he has both. And also he mentions that Mankind play a bigger role in the Xenomorph Creation than the Engineers, and they also mentioned in Context to Paradise Lost... without Sin there would be no Xenomorph.. I was thinking is this Sin as in to Sin against Gods and thus receive punishment? or Sin as in Satans Daughter, who would be constantly in labour giving birth to the Hybrid (Dog/Serpent) Hounds of Hell.
Looking at what the Source claimed... it adds up if we consider did this imply Shaw becomes Satans Daughter Sin, where she would be incapacitated to constantly produce the Hounds of Hell, so Dr Shaw gets incapacitated and connected to a Bio-Mechanical Device where she is constantly used to harvest Hybrid Children or have them grown from her Eggs.....
And looking at some of the concepts for AC it appears this is EXACTLY what they show, only not being connected to a Bio-Mechanical Machine at all... But it maybe could be the earlier ideas was very much the same as the source hinted at.

I agree, it seems like RS has come up with an idea to explore AI and is simply using the alien franchise to explore it. imo it will only hurt the franchise. and we thought only the avp movies could do that
joylitt I would like to see RS poop or get off the pot. I can understand and agree that the creature is no longer scary. We all know about the xeno. The story could continue with the xeno in the background and have actual character development- you know- something viewers can relate to and share with the fear? The potential for greatness is there. I love the David/Walter possibilities as well as the WY story, but I would like to see it get back to basics and have some real connection to Alien before going into different directions.
I can agree about using the Alien name. I look forward to the next movie but maybe it should be called The Chronicles of David at this point.
dk I honestly believe there is no right Ridley Scott should keep on using the Alien name for something that has anything to do with it. All because he just cannot handle the xenomorph in a proper way. Alien Covenant is not a proper Alien movie so he cannot blame the alien for its failure.
After re watching the Quadrilogy, the prequels seem really off somehow. Alien started it it all on is own terms and the others built on it in their own ways. The prequels are good in their own ways but feel weird to watch as a whole. As much as I love the prequel idea, it feels like it is diluting the gritty mystique of Alien. I feel torn. I want to see closure, but I am also fine if the franchise goes elsewhere and leaving Alien with some mystery.
Worst movie of 2017? No. AC is a good movie by itself.
The third one down could be a photograph. It's disturbing yet fascinating.

I think if those franchise share a universe it would be without the Xeno. That would be ok with me. If the Xeno story would continue, it could easily go with the Isolation story without shitting on canon.

yea I kinda found the first response a bit strange lol surely sarcasm at its best. visually, AC was great. I loved the settings and the design of the monsters. characters and movie arc though? the film was just awful. but people are entitled to their opinions. theres another thread where its in the top 10 best so each to their own. also depends what source their using to create the list. money and box office or just personal taste

I am all for connecting to Alien, but I am also good with leaving it a mystery and letting us simply imagine...
it all depends on who they keep incharge of the alien project but im hoping that they see maybe the direction the prequels are going isnt what they expected and wish to change its path and put different suits into the decision making chairs. from comments made by RS its all about David so a blade runner spin off is what wer getting. to me, the exploration of AI should be left to blade runner not alien. its hard to merge the 2 I think as theres far too many circumstances that just wouldn't add up if they were ever put in the same universe. I can see alien and predator being connected as theres no reason why WY cant know about both species.
dk, wev lost that natural connection to alien I fear. the intended impression Ridley was going for in alien was the derelict had been there for thousands of years which is what created all the mystery and wonder in the first place. after Prometheus, I was looking forward to seeing an expanded universe, seeing what happened at the lv223 facility and the fact it took place thousands of years ago, the natural conclusion is that the facility and fate of the derelict are connected in some way. loved the way Prometheus opened all those doors into the alien universe and the sequel shouldv carried the ball to even greater hights. NAH, lets shit on all that and make a bladerunner spin off and u know that derelict, FUCK the wonder and mystery, a synthetic Attila the Hun did it all , TA DA. didn't see that coming did ya's
personally I no longer care. with the direction hes going iv lost my interest really. ill watch awakening but im not excited about it in the way I was about AC so wont be going to the theatre to see it. the only comment Ridley has made that is consistent is that the prequel series will tie into alien so im sure wel see a connection whether we want one or not.
I would at peace if the prequels never connected to Alien.
But, I would not be at peace if they just abandoned Prometheus-Covenant and left the story arc hanging in lieu for a new direction. As polarising and disjointed as they are, they do need closure... and RS deserves a chance to bring it all to a close

Yes, i would be at peace. As long as they are not trying to recapture the "magic". But after AC, I have no ilusions as I did after Prometheus.

On Alien- "That was a rare experience and I think we got it right". Indeed, lightning has not been documented to strike at the same place twice. Perhaps it makes sense to not try. Take the series elsewhere or end it. But please connect to Alien like the original intent was stated.

I would like to share with you all one of my more recent movie viewing niggles. This also has a lot to do with marketing and I think relates to where we see AC in the list provided.
A couple of months ago I was viewing some trailers on YouTube, and to my surprise I came across a trailer for John Wick 2. I really enjoyed the first movie, and was a bit pissed that I had not been aware that a second movie had been released. If I had known this I would have loved to have seen it on a big screen. In my search to find out more I went on IMDb’s site, thus adding my latent query to their data analytics.
My latent query was ultimately brought about through bad marketing of John Wick2 imo. You might be of the opinion that the John Wick ongoing saga with another movie on the horizon, is subject to something developing a cult status through latent viewing interest.
Now I am going to turn to AC, which I think suffered from poor marketing, and like myself looking for John Wick 2 and going on IMDb to find out more, how many others missed the boat when AC was released and have taken exactly the same route as myself to find out more about AC. I think it is fair to say that AC fell short in a variety of expectations for many who have seen it, but I will point the finger at marketing being at the root of poor turn out at movie houses.
Joylitt: I hope so, they didn't care for the human characters and only gave a damn about the robots. AC is not a movie that I will watch again.
Disney messed up Star Wars 8 by killing Luke and yes it made me upset because I did not care for most of the characters. Are they now going to F up Alien also? I am afraid that the next movie will be even worse than Prometheus and AC.

No surprise here, it was almost like they didn't care for the human characters and made it into a sort of boring AI movie so I say that it deserves it. LMAO! AC hardly deserves to be at a top ten list over the best movies of the year, it was a disappointment. I accept that people enjoy different kinds (action, comedy, for example) but it is far from a top ten because if it is then it more like indicates what a shitty year it has been for movies and no I have not watched a lot of them this year.

Alien Covenant is about reality asking Heaven for a Heaven that includes reality: because of this, the 1979 film Alien and the sequel Aliens deserve to be ignored
