"Sorcerer" for me is one the greatest films ever made. The Plot is simple. 4 different men have committed terrible crimes and find themseves hiding in exile in South America within the same complex with hundreds of other such men, but these 4 are the best DRIVERS, and get selected for a shot at a lot of money meaning a new found freedom or Death; Their Mission, commandere 2 seperate jeep type Trucks filled with Aging, Leaking Boxes Of NitroGlycerin Sticks needed to put out a nearby industrial fire, well almost, it's about 500 miles away and only accessible by truch through the worst driving conditions imaginable. IMO, one of the most under rated and fun films to watch ever made! A true Willima Friedking Masterpiece and wiht a riviting orchestrial soundtrack by "Tangerine Dream".
There is ONLY one other film I liked as much and that one was also made by Willima Friedkin and it;s called "The 9th Configuration"" and starts Sacey Keach plus a colorful cast of other well known actors. It's the ONLY other film I ever liked as much as "Sorcerer".

@Snorkelbottom i know you talked about this before, this is somewhat a response to that post, but there has been other talk too so i did not say it was a response. and my point is that the "temple" if it was a temple looks very close to be that big in the shot of the doors opening up, and to be that close, would be exactly where the trucks are when driving back to the ship, unless they are mountains or the temple is just THAT big, but i don't think so, if this is LV-426, even after whatever terrible thing happened to change the landscape, it would still be partly there in alien, the derelict survived, and if you say that the derelict is on top of it and the eggs are in it (a theory that i disagree with btw) then that would mean that it would need to be smallish, and close to the Prometheus to look that big in that shot, and would be close and in shot in that other shot, and yeah i am tong tying my hand right now trying to type this lol does anybody get what i am saying? and remember, this is all under the assumption that the shot of the doors opening, the shot of the trucks coming back, and the shot of the crash are all in the same place, all 3 of these events could be in 3 different places, as i said before so don't take me to seriously, just enough to get me :D

tagging, linking, coding, indexing, and content. Plus...The more original and varied well tagged material or content the better. Also there are tricks to listing SEO content for optimization which are important as well...Key Wording is massive, but being "appreciated for original copntent by the SE's" is what's most important to the any site developer/optimizer I presume.

Yep, SEO is everything today. Too many sites pop up now. Like just look at how many "Prometheus" fan sites have come online in the past 6 months. And they think the domain name is everything to SEO - but its not. And some of the new Prometheus sites own several different variations of the same "Prometheus____" domain name.
Before people were creating wesbites like crazy, you could get traffic alot easier, especially cause most niche sites (like this one) had very little competition. Now, its just so easy to create a website/forum, thanks to these free open source softwares.
So, if everyone uses a free, open source software, how will any of them stand out? That's why we have managed to stay ontop - because I didn't want to "go with the flow" and just make a cool theme for a blog or forum software, I wanted to create something unique and something new.
And because of that, I was able to make a light-weight, powerful and high SEO blog and forum with a very easily managable template.
But, you normally have to pay quite a bit for that. And a lot of these sites just do this as a hobby.
However, content IS everything, not just smart coding. Look at AlienPrequelNews.com. It's hard to get a blogger site high on google, but they constantly had great, new, exclusive content and that helped them stay high up in the rankings.
Content and smart coding and design all go hand in hand. The trick is to create a strong balance between all three and offer a real unqiue experience to the end user, which is what I am trying to do with Prometheus-Movie.com.

Everyone - I have to say - Geoff scares me. Check out his bizzare comments.....Is Geoff USHBUCK, working REAL hard to hold back the complete deranged madness - yet signs of it keeps slipping through the cracks. My advice to Geoff - watch Alien, dont watch Alien, watch Prometheus dont watch Prometheus - Just never post another one of your anadine, irritating, pointless threads on this site ever again. You are insane. Leave us alone. Get back to your home made, masturbation/pulley system - do what you do best - Jerk off.

you know ken kesey wrote one flew over the cuckoos nest, after that he volunteered for experiments with the us army on a base in California with this new drug called lsd that had been supplied to the us army by the CIA. He decided after trying it to steal a huge vat of it and said there is no way the army are having this to themselves and he went away on a bus all around the usa selling consciousness expansion for a buck and a half.
It was also one of the first batches of lsd that had come from the sandoz lab made by the one and only Albert Hoffman the father of this incredible substance.

I would love that...Fox's reasoning on this issue is absolutely rediculous and makes ZERO sense...Once again, consider the TARGET AUDIENCE for movies like this according to FOX themselves...12-19 year old Teen Angst Filled Adolescent Males. Now let's say I am one of them...am I going to be more attraced to a film that is 14 or even 18 and over or one that is PG-13? I mean FOX has to be so asleep at the switch to think that making something PG-13 guarentees income that its' a Blue Ball Wonder that Rupurt Murdock or whoever it is that owns FOX hasn't been over thrown or had his business taken over or even bloddy realized this by themselves yet after all of these years. I mean they have got to be the single worst Media related company on Earth!!!
ReplyMembranePrometheus ForumConsider this.....Feb 24, 2012
Could you imagine if it turns out to be PG-13, but is so horrific and nightmarish that the kiddies going to see it become so frightened and scarred by it that their parents start complaining to the studio?
Headline... "Millions of teenagers found sleeping in their parents' bedrooms." :-)

@Engr101,
In addition to the "W" you point out, O'Bannon's illustration of the temple looks like a stylized egg to me. The four corners below the "W" are the egg "flaps", and the pyramid's point is emerging from the egg.

That is a FANTASTIC point BH, and I can definitly confirm THAT part of it as well. I ran a board for the CBS re-make of Hawaii Five O and did so because the site CBS originally developed themselves for it was so bad it had almost no functionality to it, they weren't getting any properly targeted traffic and SEO is the entire KEY to this. Due to time restrainst at work I had to pass the job onto a business aquainatance but SEO is 100% the key to any Forum site's success right now. That and SOLID subject Matter and Material...or Substance if you will.
ReplyChrisPrometheus ForumFeature on Landing Page That Shows Who is Currently Online Browsing The Forum? Feb 24, 2012
To answer your question Spart, yes. It is relatively easy to do and I plan to launch the feature very soon. I've been tackling a list of features this week.
@RickK, I too have worked with PHPBB, SMF, etc... The reason I chose to develop this site from scratch and create a custom software is because the other free forum softwares may be great for user functionality, but lack severely in SEO (search engine optimization).
Plus, I like the idea of anything's possible with creating your own. It may take longer to produce but the end result is always more customizable and expansive. You would pay a lot of money for a forum with SEO like this one. Like VBulletin or IPBoard, you just can't get a tailored software with open source, free products. That's why they're free.
But you may not know this, but this site actually uses the same templating engine as PHPBB. And I don't like "chat boxes" very much. That's why I implemented a STATUS feature, cause its something that is open to everyone at any time and isn't reliant on who's online. Your messages will all get read no matter what.
I am rapidly expanding many features on the site and will soon be launching a freelance business to offer the same for other webmasters/developers along with basic forum/blog skinning. But for now, Prometheus-Movie.com is a great place to develop a totally new forum software.
All major sites that make a ton of money and rank high on Google are ones that are made custom. It's a massive industry. We'll get there RickK, don't worry. Just keep suggesting useful features you think would be useful and I will do what I can to make this forum as enjoyable as possible.

@bunnypmf, as Snorklebottom has said this has been discussed at length, it's just I am in the camp that think it is part of the temple. Also if you read my post I have put 'IMO' this is not part of the crashing derelict. I am not stating that it is or isn't anything just what I believe, I can not see how anybody can without seeing the full sequence of events. I did think it was part of the derelict until I ran VCL player 'still' by 'still' to find a 'so-called totem' after viewing these stills the movement of the derelict crashing and the structure behind it do not appear to move together; thus why IMO the structure is part of the temple and not part of derelict.

IT finds it's prey sonically through the resonation of it's prey's Heartbeat. Anything like that or through heat Detection is very exciting to me.
ReplyGavinAlien Movies ForumAlien life cycle Feb 24, 2012
Heres my version of the Aliens life cycle...
Originally, the hierarchy of the Xenomorph was composed of infertile (Warriors) and fertile females (Queens). Directly implanted into hosts by immature fertile females (Princesses), infertile females, once matured, constructed a hive using secretions from their mouths, faeces and the remains of exhausted hosts. Once the hive was complete and securely guarded by the infertile females the immature fertile female would cocoon her in resin and develop into her mature form. Fully-grown the fertile female laid eggs from an ovipositor, each egg incubating an embryo-carrying parasite (Facehugger/Royal Facehugger).
After many generations of extracting genetic information from hosts, the Xenomorph evolved, introducing the male Y chromosome into the genome of the embryo of the infertile females giving rise to the more aggressive infertile males (Drones).

yup, that's right, and pretty much what I meant...I also thought on a very closer 2nd viewing though and on a much better copy of terminator 4 that this film was way better than people gave it credit for...at the same time, I am tired of it's storyline and think it has been exhausted already, but if anyone can make it fine on paper, it's you bro.

Bizarrely enough Sparky Terminator V pretty much writes itself in regards of events that need to occur, especially when the "timelines" logic is turned on its head...
or to put it another way, what if the future hasn't changed and what if what has happened had already happened in the future shown in the Terminator, I have actually managed to make that element work.
