Doubtful. The "queen" was James Cameron's vision for "Aliens". Ridley's vision of the alien lifecycle was much different.

I hope not. New creepy creatures are needed! The Queen was creepy, sure, but I want something new.

I think we are going to be introduced to a whole new bio-weapon,maybe an early Xeno-type or something worse than!!!? the SJ's may have had an arsenal of such things stored on the planet, and we are going to see a few new ones activated by the crew of Prometheus???
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumAlien QueenFeb 21, 2012
I think Scott clearly pointed the finger to the Facehugger as the only creature "link" to Alien
ReplyGreatBoosUpPrometheus ForumAlien QueenFeb 21, 2012
I hope not. Having the Queen Alien would be a cop out on Ridley's part. I hope Ridley finds away of suggesting a precursor to Alien without including any reference to the Xenomorph or it's stages of development. That would be the mark of a clever story teller!
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumAlien QueenFeb 21, 2012
Ridley's not having a queen, come on people....let's give the man more credit than that.................whatever he gives us sure as hell will be new, strange, and I'll bet darn near anything, it'll be something none of us expects at all......maybe we scratch the surface, but no way we hit the nail on the head...I just don't see it....

the original and Camerons are practically the same, the only BIG difference is the dome, and that was because it would break, and that ridge design was on the original, it was just covered by the dome. as for my favorite alien i would have to go with the unused alien concept by giger for alien 3 as i talked about in my other thread about it. by far the best, even better then the original, even he says the old one was not as good, shame they did not use it :(

I found this: AVP Q&A
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0370263/faq
If Aliens have been on Earth all this time, why didn't the characters in the Alien saga know?
At best, the only human survivor from this movie is Lex. Even if she did survive, most likely no one believed her story. She was there on behalf of Weyland, so anything she tells the company will be kept under wraps. Soon after, the Yutani Corp gains video footage of one of the Aliens from Gunnison and a piece of Predator technology (through Colonel Stevens in AVPR, who worked for the same unit as Peter Keys from 'Predator 2'). In Alien, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation knew of the existence of the Aliens for some time, but they chose to keep it under wraps so they could use them for their own means; the crew of the Nostromo were not supposed to know about it, except Ash (Special Order 937 was for 'Science Officer Eyes Only'). It's possible the company learned about the Aliens during the upcoming Prometheus.
And Just below that, read on to this question and answers:
What is the timeline of the Alien, Predator, and AVP movies?
Before Time: It dates back to Antarctica during the dawn of the human race where a Predator tribe comes to Earth and teach the humans how to built a civilization of pyramids and the Predators used them as hosts to breed the Aliens for the Predator's coming of age ritual. But something went wrong, the Aliens grew too large, the Aliens overwhelmed the city and the Predators were forced to blow it sky high. Either one Pyramid survived or the Predators re-built one.
c. 1715: A Predator aquired old pistol. The gun the Elder Predator gave Harrigan.
1904: A whaling station is attacked by three more Young Blood Predators who used the workers as hosts for the Aliens, as shown in an alternate opening, the disappearance of the workers mentioned by Lex, and the dials of the coffin were last set to 1904.
1930: The beginning of Predator: Concrete Jungle (VG)
1987: Predator
1997: Predator 2
2004, October 3: Beginning of AVP.
2004, October 10: Weyland Industries heads for the Pyramid awakening the Alien Queen, stealing the guns, & the Young Bloods arrive to become men.
AVP:R takes up right after AVP left off, but the Predator mother-ship reached Saturn when the Scout separated and headed back to Earth; this distance was most likely a month at least, considering that one person commented "Isn't Halloween in October?" (You'd say something like that after Halloween)
After AVPR: Ms. Yutani covered up the events of Gunnison as she stated "The world isn't ready for this" and she must have signed an agreement with Weyland's heir forming Weyland-Yutani. Then, in 2030, Weyland and Yutani finalize their merger ('Predator: Concrete Jungle').
2010: Predators
2030: Predator: Concrete Jungle (VG)
2122: Alien
2179: Aliens: The movie takes place 57 years after Alien.
Maybe a month later (most say a year later): Alien3
2209: Aliens vs. Predator (the game): Because it takes place 30 years after Aliens and Alien3
2379/2380: Alien Resurrection
This timeline may not be valid anymore soon. The upcoming movie Prometheus is set in the Alien universe prior to Alien, and will probably retcon the events of the Alien vs. Predator movies, or ignore them, as did the movie Predators. Rumour has it, that Prometheus will reveal that the Aliens were in fact created by the Space Jockeys 30 years prior to the first Alien movie, which means the Aliens couldn't have been around thousands of years before the beginning of AVP. However, this rumour seems false, as it would contradict the very first Alien movie itself: the Derelict Ship with the Alien eggs had already existed for thousands of years (indicated by the fossilized Space Jockey).

Just curious as to where you got the notion that Ridley wanted them like that in the original?
I think Cameron made them more like insects in the second to give us something to latch on to as a point of reference. It may have been instinct that they set up the hive in the warmest possible place on the planet.
To be honest, I always thought that the egg morphing and egg laying could exist side by side, kind of like an a-sexual creature that will change from male to female or vice-versa if there is not enough of the other sex to reproduce. Or simply to continue the line of the species, I think that's what Ridley was going for. Originally the Alien was supposed to have a very short life span, so it was just ensuring that there would be more eggs to continue after it had died. Remember, it burst out of Kane and then grew extremely rapidly. However, I think they over-did that rapid life-cycle in the original AvP because no sooner had the victims woken up they were bursting. Also, Kane had his facehugger for about 24 hours before it detached and died. I didn't buy that aspect in AvP at all, it was far too quick.
Alien: Desecration (my name for the 4th movie) was just garbage. Sorry, not a fan of that one at all.

i loved the insect idea of Cameron. just one problem, it was a sequel to alien. i know they would have not done this but if aliens was the same movie, but with a different alien design and a different planet, it could have been better then it already is. this way alien could still be standalone or with sequels that follow its style, and aliens could have been its own thing. no strings attached. anybody agree????

Here you go Snorky.........."'It's like a rather beautiful, humanoid, biomechanoid insect.'- Ridley Scott on Giger's Alien design."....found that here.......JamesCameronOnline
Also found this there.........
"Ron Shusset: 'People have read all kinds of things into it that we didn’t intend, not even subconsciously. But there was one thing we did do. It was our idea that it would be the life-cycle of an insect. The way a wasp will sting a spider, paralyze it, and lay its eggs in the spider; its eggs grow off the living spider, like a surrogate mother. That we did want it to be. We didn’t want it to be a human mated with an alien and a hybrid. We thought people might pick up on it and say, ‘Yeah, an alien life-cycle can be like an insect life-cycle.’"
"Ron Cobb: '[T]hat was the core of the idea that Dan had about the [chestburster scene], he got that from the paralyzing wasp, you know, it paralyses the spider and lays its eggs on the spider, then buries it in the ground so that the living spider serves as food for the uh, wasp larva and you know, he always was so horrified at that idea.'"
"Ridley Scott: 'There's a fundamental connection in nature because we actually watched, in preparation for this, Oxford Scientific had this interesting piece of footage where they'd watched a slice of bark - which, in our terms, to a human being, would be about 12 feet thick - and there's a grub underneath the bark, between the bark and the tree. There's always a space between the bark and the tree. Across the top of the bark was this insect, which passes over the grub, stops, backs up, and "feels" the grub is there let's say, the equivalent of 8 foot below you. It goes up on its hind legs, produces a needle from between its legs, and drills through the bark and bulls-eyes right into the grub and lays its seed, so that the grub becomes the host of the insect. And does what comes out of the union between the grub and the insect, does that become a version of both? That's what we basically went along with.'"
....I still don't like the whole queen thing and anyway........my main objection has always been Cameron's insistence they change the genre fro sci-fi/horror/ to sci-fi/action as though it was absolutely necessary.....the existence of 'Prometheus' makes that nonsense and rather lazy..........

I fnd them too modern compared to those of the Nostromo, not sure about those at all, but I trust Ridley to do the sensible thing on this issue, and scrap em or explain them in film. They don't look right at all.
ReplyvisualizerAlien Movies ForumInspiration for original Alien.......Feb 21, 2012
There actually is a kind of similarity between the Prometheus space suits and the purple bodysuits from Planet Of the Vampires - interesting observation.
ReplyOzXAlien Movies ForumInspiration for original Alien.......Feb 21, 2012
@ Spartacus: re the "new" suits in Prometheus vs "old" suits in Alien, despite it being "after" Prometheus:
thought it was justified in Prometheus is top-of-the-line Military/Science/Corporation and the Nostromo was 3rd tier "truckers" equipment.
Otherwise it feel feel like the problem in the Star Wars cycle where I, II, and III, look more advanced than IV, V, and VI... Well the haircuts looked better in I, II and III anyway...
Hope Prometheus will fell as realistic as Alien did.
ReplycraigamoreAlien Movies ForumInspiration for original Alien.......Feb 21, 2012
Agreed @Ozx......the Nostromo is a tug vessel that's had God only knows how many trips into deep space and is covered in grime and is a grunt's ship with truckers piloting it, using bottom of the barrel basic, yet reliable tech.....
The Prometheus is a super advanced, top of the line, R&D vessel that, by the way, just happens to be ferrying Weyland's CEO.....you're damn right that things going to be top of the line..............

This is the Necronom pic that Spartacus mentioned.
Ridley saw this pic and told Giger to create the space jockey based on the reclining figure on the top left...

for a full explaination on the origins of the space jockey you should read this previous thread
On the suits, maybe they have different suits depending on the gravity of the planet.
This suit just looks like the bare minimum - headgear with a utility harness. So this 'planet' is close to 1G I would think.

Yes, then Bite her head off, sit down in her "Captain's Chair", and communicate in HER VOICE with Earth. I would imagine you can throw in rape her first as well, I am positive both Giger and he wanted that In for the ending.

ReplyCypherAlien Movies ForumThe original Xeno had a 4 Day Lifespan...Feb 21, 2012
Yep I'd heard that as well, and it would have been a horrific ending but in keeping with the original vision Giger and Scott had....... A true horror movie.
Then we wouldn't have gotten Aliens, or Alien 3, or Alien: Desecration!

I'm not so sure (even at 19 yrs. old as I was at the time), that I would've bought into the whole "talking in her voice to earth" scene... seems kinda' weak (even for its time back then).
