Ben Wong is just joking. I've read the entire interview and Ben seems like the type who likes to joke around especially on radio.

Sorry to say so @Zues, but I think you'll get locked...same thread as "Excerpt from interview with Benedict Wong re: Prometheus Alien"

I pretty much dismissed the interview as pure fodder. The 'mum and dad' thing could have some meaning, but I'm guessing the dude was just trying to be funny.

I'm pretty sure Ridley Scott has said that the Xeno in this film will be a predecessor of the Alien creature from 79'. It could turn out to be a better design than the creature from the original movie. I could even see them using some of Gigers' other painting for inspiration.

It does look like a frog, but it may by a "splurt" of liquid as well...perhaps Holloway is out-of-frame here, and:
-Noomi and Kate examine Engineer head/helmet
-Holloway takes some type of genetic booby-trap to the face
-Holloway's DNA re-written, becomes Engineer...?
We go in search of gods, and only to become the gods...could be commentary from Riddles on "finding God within ourselves", or something...or not. :P

I'm in agreement with you craigamore, Damon Lindelof however I think may have written it in....... Ever see any of Lost?
I've always said that it is extremely lazy storytelling, and if it is in Prometheus I'll walk out and demand my money back.
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumSo...when exactly can we kill the time travel notion and move on?Feb 20, 2012
Yeah, I thought about 'Lost'.....I just don't think Ridley would go there...it's not him.......and he said it takes place just a few to several decades before 'Alien', so I just don't see it......I'm not really worried about it, I just am so tired of reading people suggesting the idea...
ReplyCypherPrometheus ForumSo...when exactly can we kill the time travel notion and move on?Feb 20, 2012
I know what you mean. If it is indeed included, Hollywood will have failed for all time as far as I'm concerned and I will never go to the cinema or even bother renting anything on DVD again. I'll just read more, I'm sure there are a couple of books I haven't picked up yet...... There has to be.....
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumSo...when exactly can we kill the time travel notion and move on?Feb 20, 2012
True...but let's not lose our love of cinema here......there's plenty out there to explore and be pleasantly surprised by...I just hope we're not socked in the gut by something so, so...I keep coming back to LAZY......
ReplyMala'kakPrometheus ForumSo...when exactly can we kill the time travel notion and move on?Feb 20, 2012
If some time dilation occurs it can be handled the right way, but I really don't want to see them traveling to the past, ancient Earth, or the beginning of time or something similar.
We get to see that part at the beginning of the movie anyway.
We need to have the characters find out about this creation, and somehow try to understand it-- not end up right back there in some copy of 2001's ending. That would be a fail to me.

Agreed @Mala'kak
ReplyRobotpoPrometheus ForumSo...when exactly can we kill the time travel notion and move on?Feb 20, 2012
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the "time travel" concept came out of (or was popularized by) my fan-fic which circulated around the internet (the "David as basis for humanity/Vickers as Star Beast" thing). There's never been any indication that Prometheus will actually include any time travel whatever (save for a few quotes and snippits which could mean anything, IE Riddles comment about it being "Back to the Future" in an interview from a while back, which probably was referring to HIS returning to Alien after three decades - although, with Lindelof involved I wouldn't rule it out entirely either).
And BTW...Sphere rocked! (imo anyway) :P Both novel and film were underrated works of sci-fi (could be because I'm a Crichton freak).

I geeked out last night and watched some of the old behind the scenes features of "Alien" on youtube. Watching those features, listening to Ridley's, Giger's and others' comments and line of thinking...it really gave me great faith that this movie is going to be awesome. Even if the space jockey explanation isn't as wild as some people hope it to be, I think Ridley is going to give us so many things to think and talk about! He really only scratched the surface of some of the themes and ideas he and Giger had flying around in their heads. Now he has a movie with a MUCH larger budget, and a studio who knows that their director is the MAN when it comes to this movie. As long as he can edit and sign-off on a movie and rating that HE is happy with, this should be a masterpiece. The visuals will be stunning too now that he has 3D to play with...those corridors will run into infinity - goosebumps baby =)

The original ALIEN design is by far my favorite, it had a nice bio mechanical look to it. With each sequel they tried to make the design more and more reptilian, which kinda ruined it.

The Alien Rez and AVP Aliens are the same, they used the casts from Alien Rez to save money and time.

The Original Alien without doubt. The new born alien is by far the worst of them all
ReplyBellaisanAlienAlien Movies ForumYour Favorite Type of ALIEN?Feb 20, 2012
Films and stories aside I liked the RIDGED DOME WARRIOR- ALIEN VS. PREDATOR: REQUIEM 2007 (as it looks) and the concept of the DOG ALIEN- ALIEN 3 1992 was great (read the book). And I completely agree the worse by far is the NEWBORN ALIEN- ALIEN RESURRECTION 1997 (could have been a half decent film if it wasn't for this monstrosity, how the hell did it get onto the Betty - Stupid!!!!!.......)
ReplyRickKAlien Movies ForumYour Favorite Type of ALIEN?Feb 20, 2012
I like the original best. Newborn from Resurrection was just a bad idea. The pictures of the aliens from AVP Requiem looked cool but I could hardly see them in the movie - too dark. I doubt better lighting would have helped that one much though.

ReplyPOOPMETHEUSAlien Movies ForumIn ALIEN, How Did Ash Get Into Mother’s Computer Room…Undetected By Ripley?Feb 20, 2012
Maybe he was already in the room before she entered, and hid when she came in. If he was a droid placed there by the company, then he most likely had all the clearance codes in his program.
ReplyPOOPMETHEUSAlien Movies ForumAsh Running In PlaceFeb 20, 2012
I always thought it was kinda a way of 'maintenancing' himself... Kind of a robot self check kinda thing?? Making sure everything is running correctly.
ReplyBellaisanAlienAlien Movies ForumAsh Running In PlaceFeb 20, 2012
Maybe this scene is suggesting that Ash is already malfunctioning; at odds with his internal programme of not hurting anyone and to follow company orders. Driven by an illogical order to protect and harvest a dangerous biological organism over a logical need to protect self and the rest of the crew..... Maybe :)
ReplyXenophobeAlien Movies Forumgigers unused alien concept Feb 20, 2012
I think we'll just simply see a pre-Xenomorph, but larger and more intelligent. . . Due to the reproduction process occuring within Space Jockey's this time.
Replyskyguy1054Alien Movies Forumgigers unused alien concept Feb 20, 2012
> Charlie,
Look closely and fre3eze frame the DVD and you'll notice that the dome'd head of the creature in Alien is partially transparent. There are several scene's particularly with strobe lights where this is apparent. Looks like they did it with clear vacuform plastic and sprayed the inside. The (spine) or whatever visible through the partially clear cranium is not unlike what they did with the exterior of the warriors in Aliens.
ReplyNot_my_intentionAlien Movies Forumgigers unused alien concept Feb 20, 2012
@skyguy1054 no he is talking about the actual skin, it was originally going to be somewhat transparent along with the head bit it looked like crap so they painted it :)

Nephilim, I took a look at the slope in as much detail as possible and maybe I'd say that it looked like a mountain slope because it doesn't look ultimately straight to me but I don't know what to say about how natural the mountain might look because at the end of the day it might be someone's CGI creation.

Wmmvrrvrrmm - Thanks for looking at 0:24 in the trailer for me. I agree that the slope image is grainy at best. It just appears to me that the darkish slope we see seems too straight and doesn't match anything else in the terrain that we can see. Not that we've seen all that much so far .... just looking for a pyramid...any pyramid...!
