I think they are all toast.
And it was keanu Reeves that got the prometheus ball roll-in
Shame on Mr Scott for not having him in the flick

@craigamore
"Alien" was her big break, so I cut her a bit of slack because it's obviously close to her heart. She was also pretty funny poking fun at herself in "Galaxy Quest."
As to where the series went, the original was brilliant, Cameron's take was wider in scope and tonalities, so it was all but a fool's errand for anyone who wanted to take things back to -mano a mano- encounters. Viewed by themselves, the third and fourth movies aren't really bad, but they do plainly suffer in comparison to the original. The AVP mashups are just a mess. Conceptually, "Prometheus" is the most ambitious movie in the entire "Alien" lexicon, and I think it was pretty ballsy for Scott to take himself on. I get the feeling he has something to prove.
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumAt the request of @PrometheusForTheWin....Feb 14, 2012
No...sorry @red hood...Keanu has his moments, but I can't see room for him in Scott's universe of serious sci-fi/horror.....Neo, the one, whatchawhosa just isn't the right fit....
Replyred hoodPrometheus ForumAt the request of @PrometheusForTheWin....Feb 14, 2012
I think he would make a pretty good David.
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumAt the request of @PrometheusForTheWin....Feb 14, 2012
@artyoh, I can agree about cutting her some slack...but there's no room for forgiving 'Alien Resurrection'...none.....it's sin of a waste of celluloid I can't barely choke down and there's just no saving it....The first two sequels moved away from what 'Alien' was, but a leas they were palatable...The fourth film, if you can even call it that, was just atrocious....a bastardization, if you will.

Ok I think I missed something regarding keannu. I've heard this mentioned a few times and thought it was a joke. So can someone please clarify regarding keannu reeves b/c Im still thinking its a joke. Thanks
ReplyartyohPrometheus ForumAt the request of @PrometheusForTheWin....Feb 14, 2012
Meh, I didn't think Resurrection was that bad, relative to some other sci-fi/horror efforts. It even has a certain campy charm. It's a POS in comparison to either the first or the second entries, but one of those is a stand-out film, and the other is a true horror classic. Though it was well executed, the entire story premise of 3 should have been a non-starter, after "Aliens."
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumAt the request of @PrometheusForTheWin....Feb 14, 2012
When Spaihts wrote the first version of the script, Keanu Reeves was attached as the lead.....not sure exactly when he left the project, but it isn't a joke...TRUST ME ON THAT.

Cool thanks craigamore
Still can't believe he was even considered, that's mind boggling
He's a below average actor, not very good with emotion
which is why I think he was born to play the role he had in the day the earth stood still
-cold, emotionless

Wow. Keanu? No. Just like no on Wynona. And definitely on Joss Whedon. None of these people should be allowed near an Alien related plot. (and I really did like Firefly...)
@Red: nice pic. Where'd you snag that one?
I remember hearing this interview some time ago (before Prometheus?). Sigourney talks about it being interesting to go back to the alien homeworld, which was actually explored in the Comics (yeah, I know, not really part of the mythos). But I also remember there being quotes on both sides about Ridley and Sigourney really feeding off one another during the making of the original. I don't think you can separate the genesis of this idea from either of them.
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumAt the request of @PrometheusForTheWin....Feb 14, 2012
I have to disagree with you there @serratedproboscis.....Weaver has said that she felt like a fish out of water through the whole experience, felt like she had no idea what she was doing........The "genesis" of the idea, the finished film and ultimately the credit belong to Dan O'Bannon, Ronald Shussett, Ridley Scott and the folks at Brandywine Productions.......Weaver, no disrespect to her, was a nobody breaking in to the biz, so to speak. She had no more "genesis" type input in the matter than the average grip or PA or any other actor for that matter. She was along for the ride, had one Hell of a good performance and walked straight into the rest of her career. You can give her that kind of credit in the sequels...not 'Alien'.

yeah but that bio former stuff came from a guys made up script leak..the fatc that it changes and mutates things was completely made up by some guy. so that isnt even an official part of the story....and i wasnt talkng about the guy in the explosion but this

Looks like same guy Ridley is giving direction to in teaser 2. He has no helmet on but could be last bits of burnt hair remaining, or protrusion from head. His space suit has a bunch of holes in it which also may be from getting torched, and is probably same guy getting lit up in teaser 1 and climbing up the side of transport vehicle.?
ReplycraigamorePrometheus Forumthat attacking guy isnt going through a transformation his face is acid burnedFeb 14, 2012
You're missing the point.....It is believed that the "acid vapor", as you call it, is what the forum has come to call bio-former. Sure it burns like an acid, as you said, but it's a substance that is designed for genetic mutation, manipulation and transformation......based on the little info we have, it is an educated guess, and based on the way he climbs up the side of that vehicle, here:

...and the fact that he jumps off the vehicle here like no human I've seen:

...it follows that whatever acid compound that is, whatever it is intended to do, whether it is the bio-former many suggest or just an acid that horribly burns him and drives him insane enough to attack his fellow crew.......it does something to him that gives him the ability to climb up that vehicle like a spider and jump off it like a howler monkey......He doesn't look human in either shot when played at full speed and that's the ultimate point....isn't it?
ReplyreffugeePrometheus Forumthat attacking guy isnt going through a transformation his face is acid burnedFeb 14, 2012
I doubt Charlize goes zombie, it seams like her and Rapace are last survivors (judging by trailer), she is just doing some intense pushups.
ReplycraigamorePrometheus Forumthat attacking guy isnt going through a transformation his face is acid burnedFeb 14, 2012
You're right about the bio-former, forgot about that, but the point still stands....that stuff does something to him and he displays characteristics, abillities that cannot be labeled as human....

Reply20thcenturybuickPrometheus Forumthat attacking guy isnt going through a transformation his face is acid burnedFeb 14, 2012
thats the guy..anybody remember how the russian looked in the punisher movie after he gets the water thrown in his face....but yeah the guy has a big swollen burnt boiled face and its definatly from that acid...and i do believe that bump over his head is apart of the space suit
she isnt doing pushups..she falls to her knees a few frames before that..it looks like she is like crouching like a hunting animal..i guarantee whatever is happening to that guy that is making him attack other members of the crew is happening with her as well.
theyve clearly become rabid from exposure to somthng but nothing in any of the trailers suggests that they are transforming into xenomorphs from a bioformer that was MADE UP by another poster. it has no validity whatsoever

alien 3 had a lot of potential, and the special edition is actually really good but what you are referring to is the Bambi burster, its bigger because it was originally supposed to burst out of an ox, and it does in the special edition but in the theatrical release it comes out of the dog.

Anyone ever considered that the Space Jockeys are slaves? Suppose the SJs are peaceful for all intents and purposes; however, suppose that maybe SJs themselves stole technology from the engineers, and their punishment is slavery. One role an enslaved SJ must play is to deliver a ship full of eggs to a world that the engineers wish to colonize. You, as a peaceful SJ, are helping your slave masters commit xenocide, and you are powerless to resist.
Maybe the space jockeys are the slaves, and the gods are something we haven't seen yet (whoever's in the giant disk-shaped thing in the waterfall scene? The giant head / idol/whatever it is?) The clean symmetrical disk shape over the watefall and the totally asymmetrical shape of the derelicts are at totally opposite ends of the spectrum, doesn't seem like the same technology was used to build both.

I like all the points that have been brought up. I'm really torn on what to think. In Alien, we see this dark, gothic Giger derelict ship with the vast egg chamber and the SJ on the gun, or whatever it is. It seems like some huge battle or something along those lines happened, maybe an escape of the Xeno's? I could buy the fact that the SJ's are innocent. But I guess we'll have to see.

It's hard to say what a "space jockey" is anymore - now that Ridley's changed what we saw in Alien from a creature to a suit, it could have been anything (or anyone) inside it.

If you notice the numerous misspellings and typographical errors (fat fingering) in the original post, then it becomes obvious: this post was originated by a creature with incomplete knowledge of English and much larger hands and fingers then the average human bean. Additionally, the poster's badge, of the whimsical "Alien" from "SpaceBalls" is designed to give us a "warm-and-fuzzy"; to make us feel safe and happy at the prospect of encountering a Xenomorph. I believe that this post was written by a Space Jockey (possibly with Space Jockey-itch) in an attempt to lull us (humanity) into a dull sense of complacency, which has apparently been successful, too! Be vigilant fellow humans! The human crop is at it's greatest number of all time (7+ billion individuals) and the chefs are in the kitchen sharpening their knives and heating up the barbeque grills! Just because you're paranoid, it DOESN'T mean they're not out to get you! =8>O

Neurion - a very interesting tablet - thanks for posting that! The styles are incredibly similar. I believe you are right. Since Ridley has said this movie will be "epic", and deals with the origins of mankind etc... it makes sense to use 'glyphs' that conjure up our pre-history and the early celestial dieties.
I'm sure the glyphs we see are totally made up... but somewhere deep in the bowels of this incredible production, someone has a key to what these glyphs mean ... it might even be a poke at all of us nerds and it says "beware - space jockey inside"..... Cheers!
PS. What's the name of your pony? Nice horsey...
ReplybregoPrometheus ForumXeno life cycle...Feb 13, 2012
I remember one of the Alien Graphic Novels, cant remember which one, explains that the Xeno species (well at least the one we know containing Humanoid DNA) is capable of replicating it self in a number of ways. If the Xeno detects that it is alone with only a handful of possible hosts it can create eggs via cocooning the victim (as in the deleted scene in Alien). If the Xeno is on an inhabited planet/ship a Xeno can enter an extra growth stage and become a egg layer (Queen). Once established as a hive an egg can create a Queen face hugger (or super face hugger) which will produce a new Queen who will either kill the original hives Queen or create a new hive elsewhere, reminicent of Bees.
I suppose these points would make the Xenos a virtually indestructible force as a weapon...
Not that I find these points Canon, they are however interesting.
