MemberOvomorph02/7/2012i was watching alien 3 about 2 days ago, and i noticed something strange about the alien:
when it came out of the dog's chest, it was full grown, already bigger than the dog! how does that work? in alien you dont see a full grown alien crawl out of kane's chest! it comes out small! i just dont get how it works...

MemberOvomorph02/7/2012@Bacon Boy, well that's easy to explain lol, that's because each movie that followed ALIEN took liberties with the canon that had been established in Sir Ridley's film. Okay that's just my opinion, but possibly the Alien in Alien 3 was more developed because it came from a dog which in the wild is a more predatory animal than man, so the newborn Alien started off with an edge?!

MemberOvomorph02/8/2012The dogburster was not bigger than
The dog, but it indeed already had the
Inner jaw and legs.

MemberOvomorph02/8/2012it just hurts to watch A3, for the very reasons that you mention...there was a lot of beautiful imagery, but the liberties they took with the story were so tragic, talk about trying to kill the franchise- and then the following movies, well I dont even acknowledge those, I think its genius how Sir Ridley is taking this glorious detour and reclaiming what should have stayed in able hands like his or camerons...I have never been this excited about a movie, I feel like the 12 year old I was when I went to see Aliens...geeks dream come true

MemberOvomorph02/8/2012I would assume it's the DNA reflex. Most animals give birth to more developed and independent offspring than humans do. If the ox gave birth to a normal calf, it would be able to stand and walk almost immediately. (I went with ox b/c the extended version is far superior.)
I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.

"It is widely accepted that the embryo will grow to a size that is best suited to the host organism. It would appear that the embryo will develop to a point that is consistent and proportionate to the size of the host, and the space available to it within the host. Through this theory it is believed that the embryo will continue to develop until this size restriction/requirement is met. The best example of this to date is the Alien recorded from Fiorina 161. Being born of an ox the resulting hatchling was much larger than those recorded aboard the Nostromo and the terra-forming colony on LV-426. It was also much further along in its development - to the point that the Alien was born in with striking likeness to its adult stage: It's cranium was fully developed and had separated from its back; it had full use of all of its limbs; it had fully developed secondary jaws; its tail was proportionate to its body; and its exoskeleton was distinct, and already well formed. Yet, once mature, the adult Alien was of similar size, if not the same, as those recorded in all prior instances of Alien activity - including those encountered aboard the Auriga 200 years later.
However, this idea should not be construed as meaning that an Alien could develop from embryo to adult prior to birth should the host organism present a large enough internal environment. Given the life cycle of I. raptus, it's apparent dietary needs, and it's need to molt between birth and adulthood it is clear that it must emerge from it's host before the final stages of development can occur. Through this it is believed that the hatchling recorded on Fiorina 161 may have been of maximum developmental size - especially when the exit wound is cross referenced with that of the Jockey"

Rick

MemberOvomorph02/11/2012Short version: Dogs age faster than humans. Perhaps the dogbuster emurged as it did due to the different DNA/Ageing to Dog species?

MemberOvomorph02/11/2012aliens 3 was boring, dull, rehashed, stupid, and killed the franchize...when the alien chest bursts as ripley is falling was laughably stupid,,they killed newt and hicks and then ripley..the setting is so incredibly dull..it isnt suspensfull or creepy..it looks like they are running around a fuckng pueblo. the setting for alien and aliens was horrifying....the colony was an amazing setting that had a reactor and med labs..and was hugely suspensful...david fincher does not impress me at all...se7en and social network are overrated and dull. the guy should be directing music videos not full length features

MemberOvomorph02/14/2012alien 3 had a lot of potential, and the special edition is actually really good but what you are referring to is the Bambi burster, its bigger because it was originally supposed to burst out of an ox, and it does in the special edition but in the theatrical release it comes out of the dog.
