Or he could have done what happened with Paranormal Activity 3, that director didn't put any actual movie footage in the trailer! I don't like to be shown ALL the main parts of a movie but at least some footage from it. . .

Even though their is a lot of wild speculation going on its great to see people engageing and letting their imaginations run free its rare to see that in anticipation for a movie and there are people here of all ages we need to bear that in mind when criticizing others views .
These people are letting their creative juices be expressed and that should be encouraged not condemed.
Hell this forum would not be anywhere like as exciting if we all censored our opinions for fear of being ridiculed so carry on guys it all makes for intresting reading and inspired thought.

I just had a thought; somebody said that Ridley may be using this first trailer to mislead us in someway. What’s the first thing we hear “WE WERE WRONG SO WRONG”. Could Ridley be referring to our assumptions?
If Ridley looks at this site from time to time (which I wouldn’t be surprised) I bet he has a good chuckle to his self.
ReplyReimerPrometheus ForumThe teaser trailer may be just thatJan 27, 2012
It's all just a big tease? It would certainly fit with the secrecy around the project.
ReplyCBT1979Prometheus ForumThe teaser trailer may be just thatJan 27, 2012
Sure, it is a teaser without any
Dialogs. The next trailer will surely have dialogs
to give the audience a brief message
What the story is about, but will not
Show too much either.
Unless they want to spoil too much.
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumThe teaser trailer may be just thatJan 27, 2012
Honestly, Ridley comes off as entirely self assuered, old world type who wouldn't care about a site like this....now, don't get me wrong...I believe he cares a whole hell of a lot about telling a good story for us all to enjoy, but he doesn't come off as someone who would bother with all this speculation.......
.....Of course I could be way off and he's secretly a member of the forum, posting wild, crazy, out there theories into the mix to keep us all off the rails and guessing our way into the movie.

Nothing in the Bible indicates that God was not an alien, higher life form, whatever - it was written from the point of view of people who experienced something they had nothing to reference it to and were describing things as best as thier limited understanding would allow. I don't think the "ancient aliens" theory would invalidate anything in the Bible.
ReplywalterhillerPrometheus ForumAn interesting article about PrometheusJan 27, 2012
typical babble. god is obviously a man made concept so if their premise is predicated on the existence of such a being, sorry, i won't be joining your cult.

Those people are batshit crazy. I've seen UFO's, actually sat and stared at one with my ex on our way home one night from the movies (we'd just seen the original Spider-Man so aliens were the last thing on our minds,) it was just hovering above some houses for about 10 minutes and then started to drift off slowly. We weren't the only ones that saw it either, we were actually stopped at traffic lights when we spotted it and people were getting out of their cars to look at it. And it wasn't the first time I'd seen something like it either.
However, I've never seen an Angel, God or the Devil, nor met anyone that has.
When I do I'll start believing, but until then, and remember the End of Days is supposed to have happened a few times by now according to their little fiction, I'll hold onto the idea aliens created us. I actually thought this for years before I came across any of the books that other people had written on the subject.

What a boring pseudo-religious viewpoint compared to all the interesting and thoughtful theories on this forum.
ReplyaintnozenoPrometheus ForumAn interesting article about PrometheusJan 27, 2012
Cypher (and of course anyone else)
It's sad, but true that there are cults in existence that predict things like the end of days. They do many things that make believers look bad, or quite ignorant in most cases. They don't make us look ignorant because of what they actually are, they do it because they CLAIM to be Christians, or whatever group- without having a clue what they are talking about or having read the same Bible they are so busy thumping and claiming to believe.
I've never seen an angel either, that I know of. I would say most people would say the same.
I think that article shows more than some like to admit as well. It has many discrepancies and assumptions in it about the movie. But it also is wrong about much of the Bible verses it references, though no one has noticed those.
Don't try and group anyone who believes in God as being the same kind of lunatics that make headlines nowadays. We think they are just as crazy as you do.

WOW. I have seen some intellectual arguments in favor of religion before, but his is not one of them.
Also, while I find the show "Ancient Aliens" entertaining I do realize its basically all loose theories (more fiction and little-to-no fact). But the same can be said of this guy's article. The "facts" he tries to illustrate by using Bible passages as accurate historical reference are worse than the "theories" used by the authors he's attacking. They rely on the reader already being "religious" (specifically Christian/Catholic/etc) and therefore being easily being won over by his so-called "obvious/clear" explanation of Bible stories . Than again I can't really blame him for his approach given that his article IS posted on a website devoted to further expansion of religion.

I believe Ridley Scott is way smarter than contemplating cooky theories of the "ancient astronaut type", not to mention religious gospel. He may be just trying to hype up some controversy to "put more dynamite" into the movie opening in my view. I could almost see a grin in his face when he is talking about this nonsense as if it were serious...
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumAn interesting article about PrometheusJan 27, 2012
Very well put @aintnoxeno.....I my self am a believer in Jesus Christ and have no problem saying that.....That said, I read that article and was very bothered by it because it is presumptive and unduely harsh. In fact, I replied on that site under the name Jason, my real name, and post it here for you all to read:
As a follower of Christ, I have no problem saying that I’m eagerly awaiting this film as a fan of good storytelling. Ridley Scott is an excellent storyteller and I’m a huge fan of his work. We don’t even know what this movie’s exact plot is….much of what you wrote as being ‘plot elements’ is widely considered by fans anticipating the film to be elements of plot hoaxes. Nothing is confirmed yet and won’t be for a good long time. And as to the comments about Shaw rejecting her faith, there is nothing confirmed or official out there anywhere that proves that assumption, and it is an assumption, in any way shape or form. Give it time and the opportunity to present itself before you rip it apart….you may very well be right, but you can’t possibly be yet as just about everything you’ve used as evidence is from rumour and speculation…and trust me, I’d know, I’ve being looking my self.
I have to say that the Aliens as Gods subtext you’re so horrified by doesn’t bother me either, and only because….it’s a story and one that, no matter what it contains, could not possibly affect my belief in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, Son of the Living God, who came to us in human form to pay the price for our sins. I’m not going to let any film or concept affect my belief, ever. Jesus is in my heart and will never leave it. Nothing can bother me so much as to change that, nothing. Why you let this get under your skin so thoroughly is beyond me….and it irritates me when I see fellow believers take fiction and let it bother them so much…..faith is about belief in the absence of proof and true faith is like a mountain, untouchable, immovable and unshakeable by anything; especially a fictional sci-fi film.
I’m not even bothered by the idea that alien life might exist out there. why? Because, in God’s vast and beautiful creation, there’s no telling what He brought into being and to suggest that we know for certain that it can’t be possible just because we believe in Him is arrogant and condescending to Him. We don’t and can’t possibly know what He chose to do with His creation and to suggest that we do is to look Him in the eye and say we know better. Aliens could land tomorrow on the lawn of the White House and I’d still believe in my God who created the Heavens and the Earth and gave us His one and only Son, so that we may live and survive the second death.
ReplyCypherPrometheus ForumAn interesting article about PrometheusJan 27, 2012
Oh don't get me wrong I think faith can have an amazing effect for people that genuinely believe. It's just when people outright deny that there may be another reason for our existence without even looking at some of the very compelling evidence that we were created by aliens, if you will, because when it comes down to it if we were created by God or aliens, Ridley has it right when he says there is no way we could exist without some kind of help from a higher being. Be it God or creatures we have not yet encountered.
I actually believe that there was a man named Jesus back in the day. I also believe he was a student of many different kinds of not only spiritual beliefs but also other forms of science that would have been frowned upon by the people of his time because it was beyond the realm of understanding at the time. They had never seen what Jesus was capable of, and therefore believed that his power was granted him by God.
I believe in the Force. And I will never deny anyone their right to believe what they feel is right for them. However I think blind faith can be extremely damaging.

Hope it's an 18... In fact can I make a personal appeal to Sir Ridley to ensure that it does... I understand the movie companies wanting to maximise sales, at the end of the day it's business right... But please for me and everyone like me... Alien and the Universe that encompasses it is Cinema pure gold and to make Prometheus scary it's got to be an 18. Hopefully Prometheus will be a classic just like Alien, don't trip it up with the dis service of a lower age rating to boost sales. Keep it what it's meant to be and the fans will love it and go back for more... I'll pledge a few trips back to the cinema to watch it!
In Alien the classic chestburster scene I believe greatly added to the 18 rating, because of this scene we the viewers and fans were given a punch in the face and made us scared of the facehuggers and Xenos, and we didn't forget that feeling Alien created. CUT to the AVP and AVP Requiem...the chestburster scenes were conducted completely differently, why? To make sure the movies didn't get an 18 rating. Did the scenes in these two movies conjure up the same lasting feelings that Alien did? Not even close...please make it 18.
