What of a 'widescreen' one to fit on those big roadside posters - what do
you call them? There'll be more poster promotional material no doubt.
This is slow, drip-feed pleasure.

Much more defined than U.S. poster.
You can see more of the head which now resembles the
mysterious figure standing at the far right of the Space Jockey
bridge in the teaser trailer.

Could the stone head be a nod to Rodin's The Thinker?
Replyalteredstate.Prometheus ForumNew official poster releasedJan 22, 2012
could also be a nod to dark city ?

(reposting from another thread)
ahhh...! such a cool and great image!
like they cleaned it up a bit to reveal all the Giger-esque
detail on the walls in the back round. really diggin' this!
still giving me a young "Liam Neeson" vibe. ha!
okay, i'm gonna nitpick here a bit....
in the one of those mini-teaser trailers that were released a while back,
there is an all too brief shot of Shaw turning her face away from what
seems to be pressurized air / steam being released from an opening she
seemed to have discovered at the base of some structure (perhaps this head)
she was cowering down a bit from the unexpected release of said air / steam
now, if you look towards the right facing area of this poster,
you can make out what appears to be a disc-like object, like the door that
i saw in the teaser trailer, that when opened, released that pressurized air
it's quite subtle in this poster, am i alone is guessing this is yet another
hidden clue to some of the plot of PROMETHEUS? i think i am on to
something....either that, or i am reading too much into ANYTHING and
EVERYTHING image related to this film
thoughts.....
GREAT image Bughunter! thanks for posting this...
ReplyshardyPrometheus ForumNew official poster releasedJan 22, 2012
also, you may notice, Shaw may have a lantern,
but that light source in the poster is emanating FROM the head,
rather than the lantern projecting that entire illumination
nitpicking i know...

Has anyone come up with a conclusion as to why "David" is shown in the poster?

Engineer/Jockey DNA mutated humans. possibly a proto xeno offspring from shaw. Perhaps the white parasite we saw on another leaked trailer somewhere on here. My guess is that David gets infected by jockey DNA, rapes shaw, he continues to mutate into Jockey pilot blue guy, shaw gives birth, half transforming herself into something only vaguely human, to white parasite creature. parasite creature slithers away and hides out near pilot chambers. now transformed david walks into chamber to join up with Jockey chair, parasite attacks. xeno's him up, he wakes up and cant remember what happened so continues into jockey chair where he will later chestbursts the progenitor to xeno we know. shaw and liz, with some of david's mutant qualities, strength, speed etc, sabotage ship and escape, perhaps have battle, robo vs mutant xeno woman to determine if evil tech gets back to earth.
or
That group of mercs or rival company(yutani) get there ahead of them and get Jock DNA'd up into skeletal monsters that attack crew 28 mins into movie, lol

ReplyPerfectOrganism2Prometheus ForumWhat is the threat?Jan 22, 2012
just adding to the speculation, dude
This is going to be a movie for an entirely different generation than the alien lovers we know.
The Company(fox) are involved, and Damon Lindelof, who is hugely influenced b Stephen King, who writes for mass audience, lol, not a select few like us. I don't even think he's actually written any scripts for a film before. IMO, they should have got Abrams to write it. He didn't do a bad job with the star trek reboot. I know that synopsis sounds more like Cameron than Ridley, but this isn't 1979, unfortunately, and this movie has to be for a completely different audience, to fans of the original, whilst trying to get the hardcore fans attention too.
I don't want it to be so, but I think a lot is going to be sacrificed in order to bring in younger and mainstream audiences.
I really hope the Riddler can prove me wrong

ReplyPerfectOrganism2Prometheus ForumWhat is the threat?Jan 22, 2012
er Snork, you're the Joker, lol
I think the Jim Carrey Riddler was far better than Heath Ledgers Joker, lol
Just kidding, I have taste
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumWhat is the threat?Jan 22, 2012
Heath Ledger was the best Joker EVER, period.
Jim Carrey was a good riddler tho, they kinda copied him in the new batman games
ReplyPerfectOrganism2Prometheus ForumWhat is the threat?Jan 22, 2012
Yep. love em
Jack Nicholson didnt do a bad job back then either, but Heath is definitely the best.
I hope the new batman can top the villain, have my doubts though, lol
He was just born for that role

ReplyRickPrometheus ForumWhat is the threat?Jan 22, 2012
Guys,
Lets get back on topic. I think there is something behind the scenes manipulating the Engineers thus bringing about the xeno's. This was briefly covered in another thread can't remember which one. Anyways, I would consider something higher up the food chain than an Jockey/Engineer really scary.
Regards,
Rick
ReplywalterhillerPrometheus ForumWhat is the threat?Jan 22, 2012
no, the more intelligent, the less scary. it needs to be animalistic and completely deaf to reason. super intelligent dude=someone you can talk to and reason with. not scary.

ReplyGehirnPrometheus ForumWho are the Mercenary types?Jan 22, 2012
I think they're running security for the mission during a time when Weyland doesn't have a weapons division of their own.
See how uncreative I can be? LOL!
ReplyPerfectOrganism2Prometheus ForumWho are the Mercenary types?Jan 22, 2012
Well, you never know.
You don't see much of them in the trailer though so there's not much to go on.
It killing me to find out though.
for every possibility that occurs, there's another hundred waiting to spring out at you, lol.
I do love the suspense Ridley has built here. In some respect he is a true genius, lol.
ReplycentrospherePrometheus ForumWho are the Mercenary types?Jan 22, 2012
I think they use exactly the same spacesuit than the rest of the crew. So they must be in the same team.
If the "Prometheus" mission is a cover mission, but is also a very "big" thing, it´s comprehensible that the firm send some security in _ to protect but also to guarantee that nobody starts to have funny ideas like to try to sell the discoveries to rival firms.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumWho are the Mercenary types?Jan 22, 2012
actually we see them ...the 2 with pistols firing are quite surely mercenaries ...
ReplywalterhillerPrometheus ForumWho are the Mercenary types?Jan 22, 2012
nice. a theory thread that isn't retarded. that totally makes sense. though it's possible they might be pmc type running security detail. scott liked exploring how current events might translate to the future. pmc certainly will have a place in the future when warfare possibly becomes totally corporate.
ReplyserratedproboscisPrometheus ForumAlien Film ScoresJan 22, 2012
You can't beat the Alien 3 soundtrack. Aliens was good. Frizzel's...not really. To me it sounded too over dramatic, which, with the way the movie turned out, pushed the whole endeavor over the edge. (Leading the franchise further down the toilet and into things like AVPR). But the Alien 3 soundtrack was brooding during times, and then was utterly chaotic, and then launched into a real honest to god classical score. To date (at least in terms of sci-fi music scores) it is one of the best I've ever heard. I think it's only out maneuvered by the sheer insanity of 2001's score.
IMHO. Hate me if you like.
ReplyRipley Clone 8Prometheus ForumAlien Film ScoresJan 22, 2012
I think just like each director from each one of the films achieved their own unique style, so did the composers. Jerry Goldsmith's style was dark, dissonant and angelic. James Honer's score was done in almost a mere 10 days but he was able to achieve some of the greatest music in the series with those 10 days. Very militaristic and heart pounding. It was intense and on a more action driven plane than Goldsmith's very slow yet dark and terrifying score. Elliot Goldenthal's score was just incredibly powerful and deep. Many argue Goldenthal achieved the best score in the series. It was emotional and violent yet deep with its approach. John Frizzell's score was very creepy and erotic just like much of the film itself. It was dark and melodic yet intense and fast-paced. It was almost inspiring with the input of the choir leading into "Ripley's Theme". He gave Ripley her own theme in the series and a very powerful one yes.
I loved every score because they followed the directors vision and created something very different for each film. I appreciate and love all of them.
ReplydeadcellPrometheus ForumAlien Film ScoresJan 22, 2012
each score was unique to the genre they were going for. alien and alien 3 were more of the creep up terror that was made for the gothic horror. aliens was an action packed combat movie and the score represented that. im still a little more sided with alien's score though. it made you feel more claustrophobic.
