if you go to play with kids ...you will always lose ...
avoid them
I am assuming that was a joke because NO this is NOT kids and YES this is quite serious and I do NOT like this one bit and I also find there are and have been many many many many more "CHILDREN" ON THIS PROMETHEUS WEB SITE, THAN THE NONE TOTAL THAT ARE PRESENT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM WITH REGARD TO THE ARTICLE I POSTED!!!
I get it now Frantz, you have No Desire to support the film.
Like I said, "MY BAD", I'm sorry !!!

Not you Rick, FRANTZ
and here is why I am mad at him about this.
I checked out that contest
It's Brilliant...They made an NCAA bracket of the top 32 anticipated films of 2012.
Prometheus made it as #8 to the rd of 16.
IMO it should have been Ranked #1 - and The Hunger Games should have been ranked #8.
But the Hunger Games looks like it will be as incredible as the books are.
Next, IMO Anyone with the slightest Love and appreciation for and whom is passionate about FILMS and FILM MAKING in general is going to be All Over That.
Next Next, I want and Desire for Prometheus to succeed!
I think Ridley Scott DESERVES our support.
I think this FILM deserves all of our support.
And if we cannot turn to the Prometheus Community here for it who thee heck are we going to turn to?
Had I read and discovered that this was all a Childish Contest wiht little merit I would have ignored it, but it's NOT.
Next Next Next...I think it wold be incredibly cool as well, If Prometheus won an MTV contest and then the film came out as an R rated one so that all of these so called kids you are assuming are voting and dreaming up contests like this one, which was made all in good fun I think, will think twice in the Future for not supporting a director like Scott and a film Like I know Prometheus is going to be!!!
In other words if you don't like kids and you don't like the MTV crowd and you don't want Prometheus to do anything other than be a smashing success or to up staged in any way by The Hunger Games, then here is your chance!!!
I'm sorry like I said, I just can't look at this film with anything but optimism and the truth is you can look all over this web site and countless example of people who just DO NOT GET ANY OF THIS...it's Ridley's work not ours, you can knock yourself out with comments like "I wanna see this or"and "I wannna see that or" and "I hope this about the SJ or and "I hope that about the SJ or", so let me ask all of those people right now...
OR WHAT?
what happens if you go to see this film and NOTHING you wanted is in it?
Is that grounds for no one to like it either? Or for everyone who should be supporting it NOT TO?...or better still...For no one to want to throw their support behind it?
In the end it does not matter one bit because he's right , contests in general are childish, and film is a personal thing as far as preferences go.
He made me realize that while maybe I care, no one else has to...But I'll be damned if I am not "ALL IN" with regard to this film, and UNTIL the day I see for myself that it SUCKED, i AM GOING TO ASSUME THAT IT IS OSCAR MATERIAL RIGHT NOW AND A POTENTIAL 2013 BEST PICTURE OSCAR WINNER at that!
I will also be Damned if I don't throw all of my own support behind it at every single chance I have.
He's right, contests are childish, and If that makes me a child...if caring how this film is perceived BEFORE ANYONE GIVES IT ANY KIND OF CHANCE, than you can go out right now and get me a TONKA TOY and call me JR.
ReplyRickPrometheus ForumMTV Movie Brawl 2012: 'Hunger Games' Vs. 'Prometheus' Jan 10, 2012
Sparky, Now breath......Man...BREATH.
I really hope you didn't say all that in one breath.
I get what you're saying. We just dont need to get all over passionate about it. The movie when it comes out will speak entirely for itself regardless of contests and any preconceived notions of what people want or think should be in it before the movie comes out. Because in some aspect no matter how awesome a film will be, it will never completely live up to what someone has imagined in their own head because they didn't make or direct the movie.
You an I both know it will be awesome and better than what we are expecting because I think we may be a bit older than most on the website and can temper our expectations a bit with our age.
Regards,
Rick

actually I thought about what I said initially long and hard and realized I owed an explanation for the short and kind of impulsive comment I made without explaining it any further...Just wanted you to know I am not crazy I know exactly what I am saying, it might be childish of me and I freely admit this, I am attached to this project "like a little girl" is to her jump rope.
I can't stand all the assumed negativity...and almost every single post here these days starts with some debate about something involving the Space Jockey or the Engineers or the Derelict...for that everyone gets passionate, but give them a chance to make a difference in how the film is being perceived and everyone disappears or comes up with some excuse as to why they should not invest 3.7 seconds of their time to go the site and click "I Vote For Prometheus"!
To throw your LOVE behind it for a REAL and in a practical cause and manner.
Other than That I love and adore Frantz as much as I do this film and he knows it, chalk it up to pent up frustration that someone who won't even vote for the film in an online contest is going to get to see it before me !!!
I still love the guy, I just don't know half the time whether to embrace him or embalm him !!!

sparky its like going in front of a movie theatre to stop them going to see Twilight ..they will kill you .... try to go say them that lady gaga have zero talent ...they will kill you too ...you cant change them ..because are teens ..and we were teens too ... they will grow and they will stop to see twilight and they will watch alien .
Why many boybands disappear ? Because their fans are grown .
But you cant go to fight them on MTV !! 2 40+ guys against hordes of teens ?? Its worse than Zulu Dawn ...i flee ....
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumSpace Jockeys/Alien Masks ??Jan 10, 2012
they say is a " early work on a prosthetic mask design for “the alien” "
ReplyJeffomorphPrometheus ForumSpace Jockeys/Alien Masks ??Jan 10, 2012
I don't really see the facehugger on these images. The "tail" just looks like a nose to me. Unless the facehugger has crawled up into the poor chaps maxillary sinuses.
Pretty cool stuff. I find it interesting that this is a prosthetic mask made for an actor to wear. I'm really starting to think that the Space Jockey species was created by the engineers like humans. I also wonder if this being is what goes inside the giants SJ suit instead on the Engineer (Blue guy).
So maybe Engineers = Gods, and SJ = Prometheus like others have proposed.
Reply 1234567890Prometheus ForumSpace Jockeys/Alien Masks ??Jan 10, 2012
Oh man, I think I just hit on something. That is a facehugger on this. I think what is going on here is this is the mask for the SJ head piece......
Follow me here. If we are going with the idea that the Sj suit is bio-mech and part of the chair when whatever sits in it......the head piece wraps around the being head. This mask seems to indicate that as it was closing over the beings face, the facehugger quickly attached itself to the face and the head piece finished around it. Or maybe it isn't even that...maybe part of the being has to be fused with the facehugger to fully operate the ship. Thereby, making it part of the suit. Hence, the SJ we have known and loved all along....so to speak.
I know we still have no idea but for some reason, when this hit me...it hit hard.

Frantz,
That looks more like a skull you can see the cranial suturing pattern on the top where the soft spot filled in. That would be an awesome bust to CGI and cover with fake skin.
Rick
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumSpace Jockeys/Alien Masks ??Jan 10, 2012
i dont see a facehugger too ..is an assumption of that site ...however the trunk and nose shape is quite similar to a facehugger tail

comparative shots show what I am talking about. I think this may be close to what happens in the film now.
Reply 1234567890Prometheus ForumSpace Jockeys/Alien Masks ??Jan 10, 2012
I still do not believe we are seeing the Sj from the original film though. as others have stated....too many differences in appearance to be just stylistic differences.
ReplyJeffomorphPrometheus ForumSpace Jockeys/Alien Masks ??Jan 10, 2012
Why are the eye sockets clearly visible when they should be covered?
Reply 1234567890Prometheus ForumSpace Jockeys/Alien Masks ??Jan 10, 2012
well that goes along with it being a suit and not the actual head. Like i have said, this isn't a definite thing, just my theory.
ReplydeadcellPrometheus ForumSpace Jockeys/Alien Masks ??Jan 10, 2012
from what ive seen the actual derilict is sitting incorrectly, originally it was laying flatlike, now its completely straight up. whats up with that.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumSpace Jockeys/Alien Masks ??Jan 10, 2012
there are too many tails here ...one from face huggers ...one in the ampule ...one as the SJ trunk ...cant be just design ...
ReplyRickPrometheus ForumToys & CollectiblesJan 10, 2012
Yeah there will be toys. There always are.
Does anyone know who actually did get the license contract?
ReplyMotherAlienPrometheus ForumToys & CollectiblesJan 10, 2012
I think if there are toys then the Movie is rated PG-13, There is a law that no rated R movie will be advertised to kids I.E toys, happy meals, and the such. I believe that would settle the "what rating this movie is getting" argument.
I am not 100% sure but pretty sure on this.
What do you all think.
ReplyXENOWHATPrometheus ForumToys & CollectiblesJan 10, 2012
Give me the good old days when kenner made an Alien figure and proudly advertised it in their catalog. To hell with political correctness!!
ReplydraekusPrometheus ForumToys & CollectiblesJan 10, 2012
@Rick
HotToys got the license. So expect high-end 1/6th scale figures. I've been collecting their toys for a few years now. They put out a decent Aliens and predator figures before. All great display/collector pieces. (But you're looking at $200.00+ per figure.)
ReplyPredatordreadsPrometheus ForumToys & CollectiblesJan 10, 2012
Finally this is a post! Ok I know that Hor Toys is going to make the dolls that are going to be highly detailed and VERY expensive! But let me just say this kenner did make action figure sized characters of Aliens and Predator in the 90's. Also keep in mind too that hasbro did merge or buy out kenner in the late 90's or early 00's. So you never know I know that I would love to have a Prometheus ship that is the same scale as the mellenium falcon I had/have. I mean the toys they could make for this movie would just rock!
ReplyRickPrometheus ForumToys & CollectiblesJan 10, 2012
Guys,
The toys that will be released probbly wont be "kids" toys. These will be more collector item style toys. I have no issue dropping a grand on collectibles for a movie like this. Hell in 20 years they'll probably be worth 10 times that when I watch Xeno Armegeddon XXVII directed by Ridley Scott 5th while riding a shuttle to the colony on the moon.
Rick

Hot toys does some awesome stuff. I suspect Sideshow collectibles might do some statues also just haven't seen anything yet. Got to be somewhere in production though.

Hot toys did the Dallas and Kane figures but was a little late to the party on those

Hey I didnt think about toys for adults, in that case the subject of PG-13 or R is still up in the air. Sorry not trying to hijack this thread with a Rating discussion, So I'll end it right there.
ReplyUSHBUCKPrometheus ForumRAPE SCENE?Jan 10, 2012
got a problem with my INTENSITY . deal with it............. I call a spade a spade, A potenial rape scene which a HUMAN gets sexualy violeted by an unknown indenity, is worth my 11.00$ movie ticket. Sexuality is over-rated, and thus needs too be addressed with a "cutting edge" scene which the dirctor makes their point loaud and clear. Hey James Cameron, i never watched TITANIC and after 32 minutes of AVATAR in theatre i left.. cuz ur movie was dumb! anyways. INTENSITY in a movie is very rare these days, Eli Roth tried his best with a couple of his FILMS, but others copied. A good intense FILM was 28 days later... Lots of intense scenes and acting and a SOUNTRACK...
ReplyXENOWHATPrometheus ForumRAPE SCENE?Jan 10, 2012
I'm sure what we couldn't see on the screen 30 years ago(lambert) wouldn't have any problem being shown today. BTW in Girl with the dragon tatoo there is quite a brutal rape scene with Noomi Rapace
ReplyRickPrometheus ForumRAPE SCENE?Jan 10, 2012
I have no issue with your so called "INTENSITY" but it seems you can't be adult enough to fathom a half assed tactful response when approached by someone in a manner that is discriminating to your lack of tact and fore thought that their actually might be adolescents and women as well that read this forum and not just yourself. Did you even place little bit of thought into what you were about to post regarding rape or did you jsut run out hootin and hollering like you're "billy bad ass" on a forum with no regard to anyonew else that might read it? All I can say is...Really..Hmmmmm...
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumRAPE SCENE?Jan 10, 2012

ReplyRickPrometheus ForumRAPE SCENE?Jan 10, 2012
Now to answer your question. There will probably be something really fricken messed up in the movie. There has to be. I mean listen to Noomi's words at the very start of the Trailer. "It was sooooo wrong". That to me leaves a sick feeling in the bottom of my stomach on what happens to the people physically in it.
ReplydeadcellPrometheus ForumRAPE SCENE?Jan 10, 2012
well i agree and dissagree. evil deads rape scene with the woods was freaking crazy and if you rewatch alien, its almost commited on lambert, but dude. i say do a similar scene, hearing it but not seeing it, makes it more creepy
Reply 1234567890Prometheus ForumRAPE SCENE?Jan 10, 2012
Anybody who fully welcomes seeing rape scenes in a film is truly a sociopath. No way around it. I have some of the most controversial films in history as my favorite films. Doesn't mean I like them because of the rape or violence towards women.
You need to take your mental issues elsewhere buddy. Just saying.
