@ Kayg920 Dude if their is any Predators involved in this movie......that's the point where I will walk out of the fucking theater!.....seriously! U must please forget about any form of predator shit involved with Prometheus....their will not be any reference or near mention of the predators in Prometheus....I dunno what exactly the Prometheus plot will be about.....but I can tell u without any doubt that it won't feature any predators....as a matter of fact I doubt it will even feature any xeno's ....so no Predators in "P R O M E T H E U S"...lol This is an adult movie...tho i am not crapping on u...just making sure that u have no false expectations!

I agree that this looks like a adult film and we all want it to be but I find it very strange that the word permetheus shows up next to the word predator............

Purely coincidence....the word or name Prometheus is not that uncommon.....it is a titan from Greek mythology after all....so it's not unheard of.....if predators run into this movie and ruin the plot....i will puke!......but i am 101% convinced they won't....this is Ridley Scott we talking about....he despises all the avp movies! Besides it is not so much about creatures and space monsters....it mainly deals with where we came from as a species and it will without a doubt explain where the xeno's come from ...( it might even feature a form of xeno we have not seen yet).....but that's it!

bio mechanic.....what's that?...dead or alive?....i mean I am familiar with the idea in sci-fi....but it might become a reality in our future one day.....just how much emotion can an android even feel.....it's not like i ever met one....so what can u really expect....what if it's got a human brain?....does it have a soul? (not that i necessarily wanne open a religious discussion).....but could u see yourself having a relationship with something...almost human?

but returning more closely to what this thread is about.....something makes the interior of the ship as well as the chair seem more biological....maybe their is a reason why everything in the ship seems more metallic...something that will be explained in the plot of prometheus that will explain why their is a certain organic look to everything in the original A L I E N !....something gets unleashed towards the end of Prometheus!

The Ampules themselves are seriously metallic and CONTAIN the BIOLOGICAL viscous liquid containing the genetic codeing for thousands of different species. Sorry to smash that theory !!! With the Ampules there at all I just do not see what you mean The Liquid is Clearly 100% biological and it is 100% contained inside the Ampules!!!

mmm but the liquid alone seems unable to change the container ...no there must be an outside input to allow the metal to become biometal its seems that everything we see in prometheus is the METAL version of what we have saw in ALIEN !!!

I'm fascinated by the side by side comparison of the head of the guy on the side when the jockey chair is being raised, and the giant head in the ampule room!

their is plenty that is gonna happen in prometheus and bear in mind that it is set at least 30 years before the events of alien....so far their has been many explanations and speculations and theories around those metallic urns....almost willing to bet that someone has nailed it by now....but in the end who knows who was right...we just gonna have to wait another 5 months, 1 week and 3 days....(roughly I think?....lol)

Sparty cant give an explication and add another theory to the bunch .... i just say what i see ...i see that everything we have saw in ALien , so alive , so biomechanic ...here in prometheus is metallic dead .... SO i think something is going to happen ... but ive no idea what !!

Also, it even seemed to me, when I saw a photo of Shaw's space helmet reflecting the derelict ship, that ship too looked more smooth and metallic, with little lights on it.

actually....i don't even know if this metallic urns versus purely organic looking eggs issue will be explained in Prometheus.....i kinda hope it all makes sense in the end whilst still leave us with some questions to ponder....they must never completely destroy the mystery of it all!

IMO... Ampules - Containers for storing genetic materials. Eggs - Eggs for Facehuggers. ...Two completely separate things.

yeah....that makes sense snorkel...they can be completely separate....in fact that's what i think they are.....but their was no big head in alien (the one on the poster and seen in the trailer).....so is this even the same ship?...(another thing that has been discussed in these forums to the point of exhaustion)...my guess is as good as any of yours?....i suppose speculation is purely fun for now...while we wait!

I don't think the Big Head is on board the derelict, but rather inside the temple (the silhouette of which can be seen in the trailer when the Prometheus garage doors open)... Temple - storage area for the ampules. Derelict - Bomber for deployment of eggs.

i see too many similarities to think are two different things ... 1) both are placed almost in the same way 2) both contain something very similar 3) both have near a sort of laser source ( red or blue )

Of course there are similarities, especially if they were created by the same source - the Jockeys... Think of it this way CD's and DVD's are different, yet we store them in similar ways.

we are talking about the "core" of both movies ...cant be only the way of Space Jockey to order things ...that would mean that there is another room with all space jockeys chairs all ordered in the same way ... can be !! but too me is a too similar thing regarding something too important to be leaved to "SJs style of life"

...it's not even up for debate whether or not their is some weird biological substance in those containers that can mutate or create any life form....the question is what are they doing their and where did they come from....and where are they located?....I think those things are on a different ship or structure (like snorky and others suggested)..so much mystery....geeks all over the world are going nuts with the possibilities...:)

I was thinking the same as snork.........I think that they go to the planet for the temple and the derelict doesn't show up unfilled the end of the movie.

But the similarity is only at first glance... Prometheus - In the ampule room the "ampules" are arranged en-masse around a large "head" icon. Alien - In the egg chamber the eggs are arranged in troughs, that weave and wind through the under-belly of the Derelict. What I'm saying is, is that the ampules are not arranged into troughs, like the eggs were. The only similarity between the ampules and the eggs are that there are lots of them.

and that they have inside something that resemble a metallic face hugger ... and that in both rooms there is a sort of laser ... and that probably many people will die because of them :p

One thing I do not see is a "Metallic Facehugger". As for a laser/laser-mist in the ampule room, I do not see one... the idea of cocooned people turning into eggs with face-huggers lurking inside.....just seems a bit more far fetched than an alien queen actually laying them....sorry...if the queen does burst threw some one's stomach I will neither be disappointed or be outraged at the thought of Ridley embracing the ideas that was created in aliens....right now that is the only thing that makes sense to me.... i don't mind if he brings his own artistic vision to the whole plot....but i don't see why he should completely abandon what other directors did in the sequels....surely he is not that egotistical...I think cameron's ideas was brilliant...and aliens was every bit as amazing as alien....but it is very difficult to compare those films..(Alien vs. Aliens)...they where too different. So it was a human ship with all the crew turned into eggs?...i dunno!

I think the urns and eggs are clearly two separate things: The urns are manufactured containers for SJ biomechanical technology, and the eggs are a [i]result[/i] of that technology. If the mist in the original "Alien" was a form of protection, it was definitely in the form of a trap. When that layer was broken, it clearly triggered one of the eggs to become active and open.

Something clearly happens that leads to the fusion of Bio and Mecha. It makes sense to me. To be realistic, IMHO it isn't a necessary for technology to be a painstaking visual effect vs. Being operational. I'm an engineer and look at it from that point of view. I honestly don't obsses over it because quite frankly it's just a movie but it's a brilliant story Alien and all. I mean there are people here who will be upset if it isn't the way they envisioned it to be...lmfao . Blade Runner, Legend, Alien...these films put you into this world with his devotion to building these worlds and the vision in which they are built are amazing and to such detail. I'll take what ever Ridley has to offer and hope he delivers which I think he will but I don't have single minded vision of this. My vision is open. I can't wait for the movie but at the end of the day, if and only if it's on the mind, it's not all that's there.

there are red lasers in the ampule room or temple and the effect they do on things is very similar to the blue fog . Frantz, I think the red lasers are most likely a form of scanning/mapping technology deployed by the humans.

Regards the red lasers, they are found in the temple, not the ampule room, and could possibly be deployed by the humans. Regards the "thing" David pulls from the urn, try looking at the whole object, specifically the top part which David is holding.

is true for the red lasers BUT he seems a bit surprised ... remember that this scene is probably followed by a slaughter ( we have an image of probably this guy screaming and there is the mohawk guy in the background ) snok ..if i look at the whole object ive to look at that sort of tail too ...not only the top .

I think the crew are laser scanning the room in particular the alien relief on the wall. A science team of course would document their research and that technology does not look alien to me. In Alien we aren't suppose to know that the blue mist was created by a laser that was just what the effects team used. It was simply a way to realize Giger's concept. A glowing mist itself was just surrounding the eggs and I always thought it was to give the eggs a warning that their was life near.

I think the jacked-up bald dude is most likely an SJ. You can see all kinds of biomechanical stuff going on with this figure, which is probably a CGI overlay on a motion-captured, digital enlargement of some jacked-up actor. We're likely to see significantly more of the actual biomechanical workings of the non-human characters in this movie than we ever saw in "Alien." As good as it was, the alien xenomonster would have fallen apart in terms of credibility, had we ever gotten a good, long, brightly lit look at it. At the end of the day, it was really just a tall guy in a rubber suit with some animatronics......and gallons of slime.

I see the story about humans being used to ressurect the dyeing Engineers. It makes complete sense that the metalic ampules are used to maintain genetic code which will transform a vessel (a specially designed vessel; namely a human) into an Engineer or something else. My theory is the wheelchair man comes into contact with a very small amount of the bioformer when the team discover the alien dna on Earth and he slowly starts to transform into a part human / part Engineer, maintaining some of his human morals. The others who come into contact with concentrated bioformer are less compassionate to humans or more concerened with their own resurrection ................. This being the case I believe the large humanoid is the part human / part engineer, but I'm hoping their will be something more Space Jockey like :)

I'd go with a lot of that. What is likely is that the jockeys are waiting for the arrival of humans and intend to interact and share their knowledge with them. Maybe use them to regenerate their species. But the crew get greedy setting off a war.
