Who knows... i mean do FOX RS and ADF even know?
I am really disappointed in again how they are messing with the Lore of Prometheus... So David had many improvements as far as future models, yet the Prometheus Mission stuck with the Flawed Original David?
It makes a mess of what kind of upgrades really happened over the next 7 models, i really think FOX/ADF have dropped the Ball with this.
My theory was always that Each Proto-type that had advances to its construction and any other components would have Weyland Transfer the Memories and Experiences of the prior Personnel Proto-type into the CPU etc of the more Advanced Model.
I really do have Grave Concerns for the Direction of the Franchise now.... its as if Prometheus was just a mistake to FOX and all the History and information being laid down is being Redacted.
Ha Ha ;)
Thanks for the Shares and finding stuff ATI
Thanks for the Share ;)
I think this wont sit well with some, but then its no way to 100% confirm anything as ULTIMATELY its what is on Screen that is Canon.
I say this because over the years since they started the prequels, FOX has worked on making various back ground information and Viral Marketing to give hints and actually provide information on certain elements of the Franchise.
And then..... they either Redact these, or re-release new Virals or Information that contradicts it all.
Lately the removal of Weyland Industries Website, which could be a sign that the said History laid out in that Website is to now be Replaced with New Information.
So they are in effect making it up as they go along with No Set Plan, and who knows how much more will change over the years... they may think they are clearing things up, but all they are doing is attempting to Re-Write Lore/History to fit with the New.. Make it up as we go along Plots.... which ultimately could turn the Franchise into a Laughing Stock.... Sadly
As the first of its kind, there were always 'issues' with David.
That is what my team and I have been working overtime to try to resolve.
We believe we have done so, but we are not yet a hundred percent sure.'
--- Loess Steinmetz on not wanting to rush the Walter project.
Can this mean that Walter is not 100% safe? That he can choose to reign in hell? Is it possible that Walter actually killed David and stole his personality and knowledge?
I am looking forward to reading this book.
Thanks again Ati.
It seems this horned worm is the starting point in creating the facehugger. Perhaps that engineer was unconscious after being infected with the worm, something similar with the state hosts go into after being impregnated by a facehugger and David reanimated him. We should suppose not all engineers died as a result of the pathogen in the first days after bombing.
I believe this note about the horned worm is intended to explain further that David created the Protomorph. From scratch.
They should have put all these in the movie to make it coherent to the viewer who doesn't follow other sources of information. But then what to put first in a 2 hours film. I think they have to briefly explain everything we learned from David's notes so the general viewer to accept easier that David indeed created the Protomorph from scratch.
Are these notes not contradicting the novelization, where David was only replicating the eggs found from engineers?
And why are the two chestbursters, from Alien 1979 and from A:C different?
Still a lot of questions to be answered.
Another great post. Thanks Ati.
Call continues, "I have to stop them." She pleads, "If I don't we'll all die."
Ati Thanks. Ordered two copies. One might make a fun contest prize down the road for someone ;)
dk - 'Is it available and if so where?'
It's out so I think it's available everywhere.
dk - Yes, 426! :D
Now I'm officially from that moon. Thx for the grab. :)
IRaptus - Awesome! :)
Can't wait. I want an announcement now. :/
Christie- Boss, we got bodies here. It doesn't matter what Call's up to, we gotta be scarce.
LOL- at this moment, your at 426 likes. Interesting number yes?
Ati there are indeed! and ones that differ from the xenomorph that we all know and expect.
My favourite (and one I'm exploring in a fanfic) is having the Neomorphs utilise their spore-based reproductive cycle as a weapon. When they die their bodies bloom new spore pods from the cadavar, effectively rendering any new environment they reach as contaminated.

Thanks for sharing- excerpts are very engaging so far! I have to admit this tome is completely off my radar. Is it available and if so where?
dk - Neomorph skull - it looks strong:

IRaptus - Yes, exactly! There are so many possibilities and ideas we should see in the movies to come! Imagine a fight scene where a Deacon uses his skull as a weapon. :)
Ati like how the Deacon bursts from the Engineer in Prometheus?? That was awesome....like a sharks dorsal fin ripping through its chest.. That really hinted at how powerful that morph type could be.

In the Alien Advent video released recently David says he and Shaw found a "rotting paradise". Since so much is left ambiguous it is hard to know who the humanoids on this paradise were intended to be. A fading Engineer race or a race seeded by Engineers?
In an original script for Covenant the city was to have Giger-esque architecture (instead of the Roman-esque architecture) and was to be explored more by the Covenant survivors, whom find a massive orrery that clearly resembles the navigation system on the Juggernauts. These details would leave little to no doubt about it being the or "an" Engineer home world. David also spoke of the Engineers in past tense to Walter, as if they were all gone. Mentioning that they were space-faring for a billion years and that they left many ships behind.....that could go anywhere. This was all changed by the final script, perhaps to make planet 4 not a tried and true #1 homeworld. It was also unclear whether David acquired his knowledge of the Engineers ways simply from the data available within the systems within the Juggernaut he took or from it and the world below after the massacre of the humanoids on planet 4.
What we thought were Engineers in Prometheus may have been biologically enhanced Engineers (which themselves are more human like the humanoids on planet 4) or they might have been entirely synthetic, created to be advanced organic work horses in space. For a race that developed the technology over billions of years to reach multiple galaxies relatively quickly it seems unlikely that they have all died out. Whether the incident on LV-223 was an outbreak or sabotage it might have been a more localized incident as far as this quadrant of one galaxy. Two thousand years is nothing to a billion year old race that has hypersleep chambers that will sustain life for even longer than that.
Covenant took place 10 years after Prometheus and David had been marooned for 10 years, meaning it only took him a matter of months to get to planet 4 from LV-223.
Other Engineers are surely out there in other quadrants and in other galaxies....
Miscu - You mean how tall a neomorph is? A little bit taller than David in the movie, but the maximum... I don't know.
How high can it be? The concept itself is interesting
dk - Yes, the neo seems to be more vulnerable. However, it would be awesome to see a movie scene where it uses the sharper part of its skull for killing.
Here's another really good one:
http://www.audienceseverywhere.net/david-modern-frankenstein-romantic-analysis-alien-covenant/
Chris - Thank you! Glad you like them useful.
BigDave - Yes, but look at the wall on the right, you can see the same group of people... Damn, I don't remember where I read about that painting...
I love Messing!!!

Honestly, I haven't got a clue how we should understand the expression 'reanimate' here...
I had found it very interesting, I felt I had to share this piece...
some good points here...
I think a lot does make us wonder if its a case of make it up as we go along, instead of having a Actual A-Z plan for how every piece can fit together like a puzzle.
I think RS had put a lot into the whole AI, even praising the idea of our own AI being behind the Iconic Xenomorph is a more interesting kind of Cureball.
So i will not rule out the potential revelation that Rogue AI is actually running things behind the Scenes.. i think this could well had been something RS was willing to run with.
A lot depends on what they choose to do now, given the mixed reaction to Alien Covenant
Found the other Piece... its by Steve Messing

Again this implies beings more closer to Humans played a key role in this Temple, with Females maybe being of great importance.
Indeed ATI..
I dont recall this being on the Doors in the Movie..
I forget the other concept artist who did the same Dome but their Humans had more a Sumerian kind of look to them, i wonder if at any stage these designs meant something?
Its a interesting set of Concept Works, because it does not fit with the Engineers at all, these beings are not Bald Humanoids... Makes me wonder about the SOURCE comments.. they appeared to put a lot of Emphasis on the Engineers actually being like David 8 and that we are the 4th/5th Generation of Mankind and all Biblical Stories and Events happened in a way... but not to Modern Mankind on Earth.
Then the Big One about how they claimed Mankind played the Big Role in the Xenomorph and not the Engineers. I found it puzzling... but since i saw these concepts by Wayne Haag and the other guy, it had got me thinking... did a Previous version of Man actually have a important role in the Engineers Society, and at which Run on the Ladder of Hierarchy did a Ancient Human Species stand compared to the Engineers?
"By the way, isn't it a very curious thing that The Covenant recharges and encounters a particle wave just next to Planet 4?"
Assuming it was artificial particle wave perhaps it wasn't David after all but someone who knew he was there, aware of what he was doing and wanting to see what happens next in the puppet theatre.
Like i said just letting my thoughts fly.
Looks good at this angle, shame more $$$ and time was not spent on improved Practical Effects.
Indeed that indeed was O'Bannons Plans...
The Creature however also looked different at this Stage, it was only when the Draft was being re-wrote that O'Bannon came across HR Gigers work and handed it to Ridley Scott and then RS was Instantly Sold on the Idea.
I think O'Bannon would be kind of pleased with the Prequels... well Prometheus...
When i was working on my Prometheus 2, the main idea i had for the Engineers was to indeed bring in the Annunaki Tale of Sorts with O'Bannons ideas and Merge the TWO.
So there was some other Race above the Engineers who Enslaved the Engineers purely to be used to Procreate its kind... so the Engineers are thus the ALIEN COW
I was going for something like this because this also is how i interpret the Mural by HR Giger in Alien that was never used, and the ideas HR Giger had regarding how the Eggs are Created. So i was trying to Mix HR Gigers Ideas and his Art and what it showed, with O'Bannons ideas for the Alien Cycle Race... and mix this with the Annunaki Tale.
so that Mankind was Created by the Engineers merely as a way to replace the Engineers for Sacrifices, or Mankind was created by those above the Engineers to replace the Engineers.
But this seemed to contradict the other idea i had about the Engineers that fitted with the Prometheus Mythos and Paradise Lost.. so they contradicted a little and i could not quite Merge every idea into a solid one and so i abandoned the Project.
Indeed Michelle thats another good point... about if WE are Kind as in to the Planet.
Modern Mankind certainly has had a massive effect on teh Planet, and if there are other TWIN Earths out there or we went back in time where Mankind could be Un-done.
Then indeed we would see a World that is more a Natural Paradise, than a World that Modern Man has Damaged.
I also think they may need to throw a Curveball again with who ever is pulling the Engineers Strings..
The Space Jockey Event seemed quite straight forwards for those who paid close attention to Prometheus and also read the Drafts...
RS even confirmed what had happened...
But the U-Turn they took with AC, had not gone down well with some folk... The David created the Xenomorph and thus his Eggs must end up in their thousands on a Engineer Ship on LV-426 within the space of 17 odd years is just a difficult Pill to Swallow.
But then a lot of fans was disappointed at the route prior that the Xenomorph was a Creation by a Large Bald Humanoid Race who also created Mankind..
I guess a lot of fans was holding out for something more Alien, and the Space Jockey is not no Giant Human well not so Giant, and certainly not who we on Earth interpreted as GODS.
They can still show us that David was not responsible for the LV-426 Eggs, and that the Engineers are not the Space Jockey Race.
But i dont think they can go for something FAR TOO ALIEN as far as the Space Jockey Goes.
its a case of do FOX/RS decide once again due to Fan Reaction do they U-Turn Plans again... and the Question in doing so do they offer a New Curveball maybe Fans would not have seen coming.
It always interests me of some of the points the Source Claimed... and especially when i look at Wayne Haags Concept work.

I have not read the Origins Book and so i am not sure what if anything is actually hinted that would fit with the Engineers or Xenomorphs and so i cant really comment on that.
But i think they need to show us some higher power at play with a sinister Agenda.. The Question is would Fans want these Beings to be more Biblical, more Titans or would they want them to have less to do with what potentially could be connected to Ancient Mythos etc... but something very Alien.
I think some fans are still holding out for the Space Jockey to be some Alien Ganesha kind of Race...
I still try and think of the clues the source i had was hinting at and how they could come into play, but alas this is if the source was indeed true.
"What did David 8 learn of the Engineers to provoke his reaction on Paradise?"
This is a Big Question, we have to look at the dislike David has for Humanity and think, would he actually care at all if he finds out the Engineers Intentions to Mankind is Wicked?
its very Complex, we cant really however buy into David seeing Dr Shaws treatment of him a sign of compassion to David, which then lifts David to view Mankind as actually Good, and for this reason he wants revenge on the Engineers.
Nope... i cant buy that... so we have to look at David and realize he was made Perfect in the eyes of his Creator, he was created by Peter Weyland and yet he is Superior to his Creator in every way.
The Prologue helped with this, but we could see seeds of it in Prometheus, where David knows he was created for a few reasons.
*Because Weyland Could... and thus a showcase to what Weyland could Achieve.
*A Legacy for Peter Weyland, because when we are gone all we leave behind is our Achievements and Creations.. Children, Accomplishments these will allow your memory to live on.. As a Famous Scientist and Entrepreneur Weylands Name will be remembered for many of his Innovations and Inventions. And so Created a Humanoid Synthetic will certainly leave a Legacy.
*A Tool, David is a Android created to be a Tool and Serve Mankind.
So David is regarding as a Show Off piece to show everyone the greatness of Peter Weyland, he also a Servant and Androids are meant to Serve and they are meant to have no Rights, they are not Human.
Yet David has developed Deep Human Emotions, he is PINOCCHIO he wants to be accepted as a real person, and not treated as a Advanced Toaster.
Yet David also sees himself as superior and so he Questions why should he serve a in-superior species..
David has been fascinated at finding out his own Creators, Creators are not what Mankind thought they would be and how Mankind are viewed as insignificant by our Creations. David was fascinated in the Engineers Culture and Technology.
THE MAIN thing to remember is thus, David does not see himself as a Creation, he sees himself as superior to Mankind, and realizes all the Engineers had over Mankind was more Advanced Technology and a different kind of Culture, that Sacrifice played a key role.
So for David now he is free, he does not wish to merely DIE, or Serve, he sees himself as Superior to Mankind and the Engineers too and his AGENDA is Survival.
And i believe that he chose to Destroy the Engineers because it would be the greatest way to insure his own Survival and the Survival of Dr Shaw who he had grown more than FOND OF
From the Ashes of the Destruction, David could find out more about the Engineers, as he can read their Language etc, from studying what he could find in the ruins of a Engineer Civilization he could find out more about them at his own Free-Will
What ever he finds, along with what ever else he learns from Prometheus and what he may have between leaving LV-223 and Arriving on Paradise, i am sure David can get some of Dr Shaws answers.
And i think David would choose to relay them in a way they would suit Davids Agenda.
I can cover what i think is going on with David and his Relationship with Dr Shaw and what went wrong, if anyone wants?
I had shared this a number of times in the past though and the movie has all the clues for it.
I think FOX may have felt the failings for Prometheus, because it was a hit/miss movie where it was Loved and Hated by Fans, i feel FOX may have wondered if taking it to the Ancient Astronaut, Curveball with the Space Jockey and tone down the Xenomorphs was a Mistake
So it seems they decided to Add more % Xeno and take away the Engineer Aspects... When really it needed to tone the Engineers only slightly down and bring in the Xenomorphs.
I am not sure if FOX will feel that exploring the Engineers as far as the Deep Themes of Creation is a area they will now ever explore, not on Film not for a while.
I think they need to bring the Engineers back, but give us some Horrific Agenda and Purpose, or have them to be part of a Horrific Agenda.
Maybe we will get another Curveball? Maybe they could even go the route that a more Ancient Version of Mankind Created the Engineers?
Who knows..
