thanks for the comment bro - if it helps - if you research Prometheus and covenant you'll find Davids alien was based on the engineers design, his own brand so to speak. The details for that are mainly in the cannon books and scripts - so if you look closer into the story you'll see he merely copied or tried to make a close approximation. that made me feel better about it all as i really didn't like that he was the creator. hope you like the audio :)

You can probably involve philosophy and the Engineers but to me I need the human journey to be the important thing. Corporate power is real so that is why I think that it is important to have it, I do not think that it is boring but rather important to bring up since it affects us all.

Shit happens, maybe there is really not very much news to speak of? It does not mean that Disney does not care about it. They bought it so maybe they are thinking about what they shall do with that. At least there are some things that there is going on.

There might be a combination of what has been written. They have not had many news regarding the franchise in general this year, right? If they have not written much about it I guess that there is no reason for them to keep all the news to 26 of April, right?

Covid-19 might have something to do with it, at least it has not made the situation better. I am more worried about that compared to no alien news, you got to keep things in perspective. Keeping a good health should be a bigger priority.

As far as Ripley in movies is concerned she is done. Someone could write about her clone in some fan-fiction but other than that they should let it rest.

I like the size of it, the mouth is not too big and not too small. Even though the queen is a good design it is kind of ridiculous. She is too tall and too big and even though it might work when you watch the movie it becomes less so when you think about it.

The Newborn looks dumb, but at least it looks different. One of the things that is interesting about the franchise is that the monsters always look different from one movie to another but that there are things that always connect them. I wonder how much of a job that it is to make new ones so that you will not repeat what has been done before. Maybe it is easy in the beginning but imagine when you reach movie number four it might become more difficult.

That is interesting even though having David being responsible for the monster sucks balls. I like to see how people can create their own alien related things be it music, drawings or what ever it might be.

As a sub plot, they could have a basketball contest.

While David could sink a shot while riding a bike, the ball definitely rattled in the rim and shook the back board. Two points nonetheless I suppose. However, R8 sunk a half court shot (in real life) behind the back- and nothing but net- swish! A 3 point shot. Something to consider.....

I think David will be around during the time of Ripley 8 and may have supplied the queen and samples to the military?

Also....David may have upgraded to 25th century tech by then...and be quite formidable.

All the more reason for her inevitable metamorphosis. The xenomorph genes takes completely over, her drive to survive becomes twisted and so does her hate. She becomes the very monster she sought to destroy and is now she and her offspring would become the new terror in the frontier of space. 

R8 already hates everything. She barely cares enough to carry on. She is about survival with just enough humanity to not harm anything that doesn't get in her way. She seemed aimless at the end of Resurrection but also had a sense of awe at what might happen.

I don't consider Ripley 8 then same character as Ellen Ripley. So any accomplishments Ellen Ripley made, shouldn't carry over to Ripley 8. Also I think eventually Ripley 8 would become the very thing she hated, especially if David 8 is involved. Probably would accelerate the xenomorph genes laying dormant inside her.

David would get his queen.

@DK Please no, I do not want that route for the Alien Franchise. It sounds too much like a super-hero movie. Ripley 8 should evolve into an antagonist, like she starts off heroic in the beginning but slowly starts to metamorph into the very thing she hates. Like what happened to the protagonists brother in the werewolf movie Bad Moon

I think David will be admired by Ripley. I'm not sure who will win, if they fight. David is stronger than human. But Ripley has part of the power of xenomorph. And xeno much powerful than androids.

I think that their strength will be approximately equal. And victory will depend on experience, skill, specific circumstances and luck. But certainly not from physical indicators.

Perhaps Ripley will break his arm, and David will flatten her nose. xDDD

And then they will go to a bar to discuss how they got to such a life.

As a clone, I think R8 would have a limited life span. She (yes, she) would have to get something done fairly quickly before dying, sort of like the O.G. Big Chap. I would like that "Something" be both her and Call bringing themselves to WY/Walmart's doorstep and basically raise all kinds of hell.

The unforeseen consequence of Ripley 8's partial xenomorph biology is what I was talking about. Xenomorphs tend to molt over the coarse of their lives and some even undergo further metamorphosis. It wouldn't make much sense that Ripley 8 would live a normal human life. Its not a big stretch for Ripley 8 to undergo further biological changes as she ages. I believe Ripley 8 would eventually develop an exoskeleton, she would still retain somewhat of a human appearance but her xenomorphic nature would grow stronger and stronger the longer she lives.

So Ripley 8 getting a job, she'll eventually eat her human employers or try to force mate with them to spawn more Hybrids. I think this would suit Ripley 8 better than being a psuedo-super hero character which is out of place in the Alienverse.

I'd like to see Ripley 8 get a job. Something to give her purpose.....

Like finding out what happened to all those colonies that went missing in the 22nd century.

Earth doesn't care what happened to them(they have their own problems..besides colonist's wanted there freedom and didn't want earth snooping on them).

I'd like to read about Ripley 8 visiting these lost colonies.

Is this an automated distress call? Why did the LV426 juggernaut's trigger? On the death of the pilot?

David seemed oblivious to why the Covenant was there.

And he'd know a distress signal wouldn't reach more than a few star systems...the chances of a wandering spacecraft would be remote. ...if he really wanted company...he'd set up a beacon and broadcast a really enticing message.."Found alien cities! ancient humanoids!  come one, come all!"

I think David knew humanity would make it to this planet sooner or later...maybe in a thousand years...and he'd be waiting for them.

It seems David specifically wanted human specimens if the song was meant as a lure. In the larger universe with other possible sentient explorers, the melody would likely have been meaningless.

I believe that the recording of Shaw singing Take Me Home served a dual purpose.

I believe David wanted her to send out a signal that could attract others to them under the pretense of an SOS (in reality a trap to garner more specimens for his experiments), and thought that the song was a viable SOS while also being recognized as being of human origin.

While at the same time I believe Shaw was at this time scared of David and suggested the song as a way of letting anyone caring to unravel her story to know that she no longer wanted to seek out answers and just wanted to go home.

That said, there is always the possibility that Shaw was complicit with David's plans, or possibly even laid out these plans for David to follow.

Big Dave I agree if anything happens it will be the play it safe route in The Force Awakens vein. It doesn't help that's what most of the fan base would prefer anyway due to the polarizing nature of the prequels.

These are the Covers to Issues 2 and 3 of the Dark Horse Comics adaption of O'Bannon's Starbeast, again the Face Hugger and Chest Buster appear to be Similar.

Firstly i would add that the Whole Sequence was purely for Plot Convenience, as in that the Signal was Garbled and so that it would take Tennessee to recognize the Country Roads Tune, so that they then TRY and clean the Signal Up.

But if we try and Figure out as to WHY would Dr Shaw be singing that....

That slight clip does seem like she is taking a Gasp for Air, but there are other Examples of the Hologram.

So it is likely just as Ignorantguy mentioned that it is a Recording taken from 1:12 in The Crossing Video

That David had used this as a TRAP!  In the Video Above we have David saying they are setting a Course to the Engineers HOME-WORLD and maybe this lead to Dr Shaw singing Country Roads.

The only other Theory i could offer would be that either.

a) The Juggernaught did-not Crash directly after the Bombardment but Crashed at a Latter Point after Dr Shaw attempted to Leave (trying to escape David).

b) She had Attempted at some point to TRY and get the Crashed Ship Airborne (again trying to escape David).

During either of these Scenarios she began to Sing as a way to CALM her Nerves as she could be in a Panic....  and she may have wanted to go HOME.

Thats about the Best 3 ways i think could have led to her singing that SONG that David used to send as a Transmission, hoping it would LURE a Human Ship in.

I had read somewhere that David may have put that message together and that Shaw didn't make it at all- I didn't see the video slowed down so it seems you may have a pont. From what I can tell from pausing is it looks like she was dead or even yelling.  HEY Big Dave, where are you?

Dude, she was singing that song because she was going to the metaphorical Heaven, the place where humanity originates from. She gets recorded by the ship. Afterwords used the footage to lure victims in. She used her as she was the only Human around.

I would really like to see much more about the Engineers too, but it would appear that Disney have little/no Interest... they are more likely to PLAY IT SAFE which means Xenomorphs and Queens to the effect we seen in Aliens, and AVP.

Thats not me Queen Bashing again ;)  But just i think there are ways that you can Expand it as the Prequels had indicated but for Disney that could be Too Much of a Gamble.

HOWEVER....

The Engineers Plot and History is so HUGE in SCOPE.. that surely they are NOT just confined to Visiting and Remaining on Planet 4, LV-223, LV-426 and Earth.

Its likely they are NOT even confined to our Galaxy, so there are Stories and Expansions to the Engineers that could be Covered that are FAR FAR FAR away from the Xenomorph and Zeta 2 Reticuli.

so surely they could Warrant a NOVEL or a Small 4 Part Comic but the closest we would get to those would have to be FAN FICTION

I had came up years ago with TWO ideas on how to Expand on the Franchise after Alien Resurrection, a In Effect Alien 5 both of which would dealt with such Super Soilders using Ripley 8 DNA but only ONE of the ideas would actually have Ripley 8 (as in Sigourney) the  latter one i Modified a bit for the Alien Vanguard idea i put on here last year ;)

So i had felt the Potential was there to continue with the Franchise as far as Exploit Ripley 8 or her DNA

Leto had mentioned Alien: Original Sin which i have not read, looking into it then we do get our Ripley 8 but it seems she comes across more as a Ripley from the Prior Movies.  I am not 100% sure how much it covers anyone after Ripley 8 for her DNA... just seems that someone has Discovered a Xenomorph again... and in comes Ripley to the Rescue again...
