Latest comments by Alien fans on news, forum discussions and images!
Well we can indeed assume this to be the case from what we had seen in ALIEN COVENANT.
Ridley Scotts comments seem to point to something different... and it would not be about Xenomorphs... (this does-not rule out any appearance or development of Eggs). He said the next movie would be more about AI in which case we cant assume thats just about him or Robots..
Now he could create a variant of the Xenomorph, that would also be a AI... just as the Xenomorph is.
I have said this a number of times, now they have gone the ALIEN Prefix Prequel route the Expectation is there for there to be some Xenomorphs and certainly Set-Up a event that drives us ONE movie perhaps from ALIEN, certainly a movie that would have to be more ALIENY... otherwise i think a lack of ALIEN Aesthetic and No Xenomorphs would appear to NOT be a ALIEN Movie, not what some fans would expect and could be a Distraction... They have to find the Right Balance.
I think Disney are going to assess what they think is needed in a sequel IF they continue, and i am sure they would take on board more Fans Disappointments, rather than Carry on with what Ridley Scott wanted to do.... unless they feel what he wants would be what the Fans would want and PAY to see.
Maybe there has to be some Compromise?
But ignoring what Ridley Scott had said... going by Alien Covenant and the Advent Video, then it does seem to suggest David has ONE Agenda on his Mind.
Perfect and Multiply his Xenomorphs so he can Conquer the Galaxy with them.
I think this was the Plan with Alien Covenant, Ridley Scott had mentioned we are NOT QUITE there yet, as far as our Bio-Mechanical Xenomorph.... we can all Guess what that means.
Alien Covenant had toned down a lot of the Bio-Mechanical Aesthetic, i think this is one area of disappointment as LV-223 certainly had that Aesthetic.. while a bit more on the Mechanical Side.
So we have to assume IF the Space Jockey/Derelict are related/connected to the Engineers/Juggernauts then there is a Aesthetic Connection and so we have to ask WHY for the most part was this absent on Planet 4
Prior to the Plot Turn in Alien Covenant (Xenomorph was created by David) we could see in Prometheus there was a shared connection between LV-223, the Engineers Technology and the Xenomorph.
So i think you have to go back and introduce that Bio-Mechanical Look, it would be nice to see it on some World, but i think we have to look at the FACT the Engineers possessed similar, so its a case of WHERE they use/keep and create this Technology or WHERE did they obtain it from.
If this is via another Layer of Creation, or another Race or Element, then i think this could be a route to certainly explore and get us back to something more ALIENY because the Eggs were not the only VERY ALIEN part of that Derelict Ship.
also with regards to how the engineers find out where David went i do think Walter could play a good role in this. since reading the comments I've had a couple of good ideas on how that could be established and more interesting twist / fight towards the end. Leave it with me and ill re upload the new version soon!
by the way if any of you are interested im in a heavy metal band that writes our own themes bases in the alien universe! you can check out our music via www.diezektor.com
Hey guys thank you for all the wonderful comments , and thanks more so for spotting the spelling mistake - the devils in the details isn't it.. ill change that and re upload ! should say laboratory not lavatory lol
also with regards to Walter i had some scenes with him however i felt something like that could be established more later down the line , also it could be a huge surprise towards the end. all of this is subject to change, who knows where it could go!
Ill be working on the scenes more as time goes by, i wondering how much of the next film will potentially have any similarities to this as logic dictates it should move in some way to my idea, well see any way!
but again thanks so much for the feedback, id though this had gone under the radar tbh!
kind Regards Luke
If Fox/Disney get away from direct prequel of Alien... And if they want to create the David's world and his Star Childrens, they should put they story as parallel arc of Alien/Aliens. And third film sets a plot after Aliens. This give a time for David experiments, civilization, Star Childrens and many another things. Just disconnect prequels from Alien plot.
David said what he doesn't give a second chance for humans. But with Enhanced humans we have a second chance.
I think - David will be use the colonists in his experiments with Aliens. And Xenomorphs (we also knew it from Covenant) are priority one for David. This is what David wants. Xenomorphs will rule the universe. Not enhanced humans - they role be an incubators for Aliens. And maybe spread xenomorphs throughout the universe.
I think, the main thing - return to biomechanical aesthetic. No stone age and no wooden villages in David's world. No Earth plants.
Disney got my trust with Star Wars classic aesthetic. And I'm sure - they go back to biomechanic.
I think in context to seeing David again... It really is a case of maybe he has to play a lesser Role as his ARC has upset more Fans than those who wish to see what they deem a Mad Robot continue with his Conquest.
I think a Massive Problem could come from HOW LONG before they make a continuation... because its a case of do we look at a say David Android who has been around for Decades, prior to his First Likeness...
And then HOW he would AGE by 10-15 years by the time we get another Movie!
I think there could be a FEW work around's..
I think its SAFE to assume Fassbender will not be coming back to play a ONE-HANDED Robot! And so having SPARE parts for Walter could be Used! or go a Step Further by having a Spare Walter Body or Build One, and have David Transfer his AI/Soul into it!
The Walter Model did look to be somewhat Organic to a degree.. which opens up the Following!
1) If Walter Model are a kind of Synthetic Construct (Part Organic/Synthetic) then could he become Infected/Evolved with the Black Goo? We dont have to go to the Extreme that we saw with Synthetic Construct ELDEN from the Fire and Stone Comics.
But we could allow for David to change his Appearance/Skin texture and color which can mask the Age Difference of Fassbender.
2) Can a Synthetic Construct Age... so they Fit in more with Human Kind? And they can always be given a New SKIN-JOB if they wish to revert back to the Default Mid 30's looking Human likeness.
3) Could David Grow so much Bitterness to Mankind and being Cursed with their Likeness, that he would alter his appearance and remove his Skin-Job?
4) Does a incoming Human Ship have a New Walter Model that has a different appearance, that looks more Older and Maybe with a Beard? Which then David could Transfer his AI/Soul into?
5) Does such a incoming Human Ship have a different Synthetic and David Transfers his Soul into that and thus we use a Different Actor?
6) Finally does David Create a Race/Being that he finds a way to Transfer his AI/Soul into? or does so to a Engineer's Body?
so yeah there are ways to continue with David, in-spite of how much older Micheal Fassbender gets or even if he would not want to reprise his Role! If Fassbender chooses to not want to be a part of another movie..
Then we introduce a Damaged David like we saw with Bishop in Alien 3 and then have someone HELP or the Synthetic/Being he will Transfer his Soul into be compliant with Davids wishes.
EDIT:
I will add its more likely that they would just use Oversight, and Nitpick on such Details..
They could have it down to David not having any Maintenance and some Process or Supplement taken/applied Externally or Internally is what Maintains the Synthetic Skin, and without such the Skin can Degrade/Age....
This would be more difficult to explain with a Walter Model who we can assume is more Advanced to the point of being able to have some Self-Maintenance.... some Regenerative Properties.
But we also see this with David (the healing of the Wound in his Neck) and in other drafts he was supposed to be wounded in the Eye and it Regenerates. So you would expect their SKIN to maintain its Youthful Look that it was when they came off the Factory Assembly Line.
YES! Excellent news!
@ignorantGuy
Ha Ha ;) The Source of the Black Goo... maybe too many Oreo's and Stout!
Regarding the Idea.. i will come back at a latter point once people have read it more... I think its something that would maybe suit a Action Comic or Basis of a Game...
Needs Fleshing out with Characters, but this is a work in Progress... i think its maybe a little Too Heavy on the Xenomorph Side! But thats just my opinion.
I think expanding it over TWO Movies could work better.
But i applaud the effort.
I think back to your idea....
Then it could be something to be explored as far as some ROGUE World.... we have Rogue Planets in our Galaxy, Planets that Formed on the Outer Rim of their Systems that eventually the Gravity Pull of their Star is no-longer enough to hold them within their System...
Or they are pushed away during a Chaotic Start to their Solar System or a Chaotic Event in their Solar System... for example the Collapse of a Red Dwarf that has a Planet at the very FAR Reaches of its Solar System could push the said Planet out into Deep Space and becomes a Rogue Planet.
For a Rogue Planet that has the ability to support Life, when it becomes a Rogue Wandering Planet without a SUN of its own... then Life on that World would Change!
You can ponder how would LIFE adapt to these changes, would it DIE-OUT or develop into something NEW and adapting itself... becoming a SURVIVOR.
If so what would this Life be like? And what would happen if another Species came across said Adaptive Life-Form?
You could certainly see the Creator Race of Engineers find some of the Aspects of such a Creatures Survival as Interesting and Traits they deem are worthy of Experimenting with and trying to pass these onto the kinds of LIFE they would Create... Maybe with Dire Consequences?
However i do suspect that your Rogue World idea revolves around some World that is Intelligently Controlled.. maybe even Artificially Created or Adapted and so NOT a World that is Wandering Aimlessly across Space.
This is something that cant be ruled out, if we have a Species that are many Millions of Years Old... we also have to Ponder are there Species in the Galaxy that are FAR FAR ahead of the Engineers and their Technology.. or maybe even the Source of the Engineers Technology?
I really can't image an "Insane lavatory" with a table in it? Does David and the xenoes take dumps on it? Or are the toilet seats just egg holders? Or does black goo come from the tap?
"For Peter Weyland I am afraid it is too late"
I think yeah it would be difficult to bring us a Peter Weyland from 2023, but looking at the Time-Line that Prometheus introduced (which has been changed somewhat by Alien Covenant) it would appear that a lot of the Building Better Worlds Aspect and Space Exploration really kicked off in the 2050's and on wards.
So i think having a Peter Weyland involved at a time when he would be in his Mid 50's or Mid 60's could be a route to explore.
Regarding David... i think it would be interesting to see the Character again... but i feel a lot of Fans are just not that interested.... I think it could be a case of we come across a Dis-activated/Damaged David. Maybe introduce another Walter for a different ARC! This New Walter could be Modeled on a Older Looking Human Male in their 40's
Because the Longer any Sequel to Alien Covenant takes, the older Fassbender will be and be less likely to pull off being a 35 year old looking Human Android. I agree that the Prequels need a Conclusion.
But i also think the Franchise can expand beyond anything related to the Engineers/Xenomorph and LV-223/426 and Planet 4.
I think this is Good News on ONE Hand, but maybe wont be the News that some would have hoped.
It depends on what Disney Deem is worthy to continue within the Franchise.... and so we cant ASSUME we are going to get a Continuation of the Prequels or anything related to Ridley Scotts Direction. However who knows, we had rumors that Ridley Scott is working on a ALIEN Project, and Emma Watts seemed to be behind the Direction that Ridley Scott wants which is to FINISH the Prequels and to not have any TV Series at Present.
She had said the Franchise was Not Finished and that its a case of finding the RIGHT STORY, and it seemed she indicated that you cant keep going back to the same Tropes/Formula that we saw in the ALIEN Franchise.
But i am concerned that THIS is exactly what Disney wants to see in the Franchise. The ALIEN Franchise would be expected to be about the Xenomorph to some degree or another and i dont think they would want to STEER to far away from that... Neomorph's, Deacon's, Trilobites and Spores are all loosely connected and i feel that DISNEY would want to continue with at LEAST this level of connective tissue if not more Xenomorph Related.
So by NEW Movies maybe we could get a set of movies that are independent of ALIEN and PROMETHEUS but can have some links, but will NOT literally connect to a David's Story or a Ripley's Story. Maybe we could get 2-3 Stand Alone Movies that are not connected/lead to each other so to speak.
They could open up the Franchise so we DONT just have the ARC/Plot that Follows that Fateful Day the Nostromo Crew arrived at LV-426... to the Hadleys Hope Colony being set up on the same World that housed the Derelict and its Cargo, to the Pursuit of Ripley as a Source for the Xenomorph after the Destruction of Hadleys Hope.
The ALIEN Franchise was about that Cargo on the Derelict, and what becomes of it to the point that the Company had tried to get a Queen from Ripley, and then Clone her 200 Years after.
We have to ASSUME they did this because there was NO other Source.... but the Prequels open up the Potential for other Sources of Xenomorph or Related Organisms... i would like to think that each AVENUE that is explored like this will conclude with the Destruction of any Specimens, resulting in the Company eventually having to pursue Ripley.
Likewise we have the Prometheus ARC/PLOT which follows David and how he has used the Secrets of the Engineers and Bio-Weapon Black Goo to Create the Xenomorph that we can ASSUME eventually ends up on the Derelict on LV-426.
But this still opens up a AVENUE to have a Movie or Movies set to explore routes connected/opened up by the Prequels but without actually being set following what David is doing at Present. But again any such Avenues should conclude in a way that would show that NO-MORE Specimens are obtainable from this route... and hence the pursuit of Ripley.
So indeed their is Scope to have a ALIEN movie that is a Parallel Story that is Canon (No Alternative Universe) but i feel any such Movie must have some connective tissue to ALIEN and thus has to be more ALIENY than Prometheus. Eventually such ALIENY movies that can also include the Engineers, may open up more fans to be willing to see further movies about the Engineers that Will-Not have any Connective Tissue/DNA to ALIEN, so even less so than Prometheus.... but we have to engage the Fans who are NOT SOLD on the Engineers with more ALIENY movies that can introduce the Engineers into the Fold.
I do fear HOWEVER... that NEW ALIEN movies could be Alternative Universe Variety, i am concerned they would also go with a Blomkamp Alien 3 Alternative and BRING BACK the Gang from Aliens.
I would like to see a continuation of the Prequels... i think we need a CONCLUSION or at least some Movie in the Aftermath of Origae-6 that will give us more clues to the Xenomorph Cargo on the Derelict's Origins.... OR show us evidence to show that Davids Creations Do-Not get onto the Derelict.
Because as Ridley Scott said, there is only so much Snarling and Chest Busting you can do, and i would also say there is only so much you can do with the RIPLEY Saga.. before we are back to the Drawing Board!
And i think the Space Jockey/Engineers are a Good Starting Point to Return to and Focus on in the FUTURE!
I have read it. Nice job!
It references everything from Prometheus to Aliens while also giving a hint about the SJ.
This is a gloss over but I don't want to tell spoilers. Members should read it imo.
I want to see David and the sequel to Covenant. For Peter Weyland I am afraid it is too late, although it would have been nice to see David rebelled against him. After Peter Weyland died there is no one to match David.
Come on, guys, let Ridley Scott do this one more film in this franchise, then you can have the colonial marines shoot the xenomorph.
Another report from CinemaCon 2019 confirms that Alien footage was shown in a sizzle reel celebrating the big franchise from both Disney and Fox. Another report mentioned the footage was from Alien: Covenant. That's encouraging.
Below, the report from BleedingCool:
"The Disney presentation at CinemaCon kicked off with a video that had all of the Disney and Fox properties mashed together. It was a little surreal to see Alien and Frozen in the same sizzle reel but Disney was very thankful towards everyone at Fox for all of the hard work they have done. "
I will believe it when I see a teaser trailer from Disney. They didn't seem to give any kind of year, so I won't hold my breath.
Bring on Alien: The Play- at least that is something concrete with a Scott Free endorsement- IN WRITING.
Thanks for the added clarification daliens! Wonderful find!
THR confirms the news:
"Fox's Emma Watts came out to introduce Dark Phoenix, calling it the "perfect sendoff for our X-Men team." The Marvel mutants have been at Fox since 2000's X-Men movie, which is credited with launching the modern era of superhero films.
Watts also noted that Fox will be providing plenty of tentpoles for Disney, now that the former will no longer oversee the Marvel properties, as those will fall under Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.
"We intend to do our part, and it is in that spirit that we will continue to create new stories,” she said, name-checking Kingsman, Alien, Planet of the Apes and Avatar."
That't the spirit!
Thank, Chris.
Fingers crossed.
I'm remaining curiously optimistic.
I am both excited and concerned
2023: Building Better Worlds
That sounds really good. It doesn't have to have anything to do with Alien proper but it could. It could go in at least three different directions. I think calling it 2023 and releasing it that year could cement a generation of viewers at least.
I certainly think as a Starting Point to a Spin-Off TV Series/Streaming.
The Name is something that has to be considered...
2023 Odyssey a Weyland Story
If we are talking about the Journey of Peter Weyland from that defining Moment in 2023. Or Weyland: (insert secondary Title)
I think it would be interesting.... we DONT want to get into the Territory of calling it ALIEN: something, as expectations would be when is it going to connect to ALIEN in context of NOT about Weyland or Androids...
I think another Problem is that Weylands History and TED Talk does seem to have AI and Androids as a very Important Part of the History, and i fear a lot of Fans are NOT interested in this due to Alien Covenants David.
Certainly that is NOT the only String to Weylands BOW however.
Maybe 2023: Building Better Worlds, could work?
I will be a bit BUSY... but i will come back to Read this...
Reading the First Page... i like the Concept/Idea of the Engineers arriving at Planet 4 and being very moved and upset at what they discover... certainly makes them more of a Humanity.
The idea of discovering CCTV of what happened is interesting as far as HOW they discover the Perpetrators
Ideas i had/Theory would be that they would either have to Discover Walter and somehow he points out where David is off too.... or they Discover Recordings on the Crashed Juggernaught.
Discovering Human Remains, a Human looking Walter would draw the Engineers to Earth, if we assume that Earth is the only place that has HUMANS.... but HOW the Engineers Determine that David is off to Origae-6 is something that i would be interested to see HOW you tackle.
The Logical way i concluded would be they Discover Walter and somehow he can point out the Constellation on a Star Map the Engineers show him. Or some other means they can access Walter, or Discovery of something left behind that would indicate where Origae-6 is.
Of-course the Movie Alien Covenant does-not show EVERY minute that transpired on Planet 4 from when David took them to the Cathedral/Citadel so there is potential Dialog that happened that was not shown in the Movie.
For Example Oram/Daniels could have shown David a Map on a Device of where they was heading for... If such a Device was left behind during the Hell that broke out.. then a Engineer could find this and activate it and IF it shows a Constellation, they could input this into their Systems and PLOT a course to where they are heading.
The only Problem would be this would show them WHERE those Humans where going, and NOT where David would be heading.. But they could cover all bases and Go Off to Origae-6, but also Earth (which is a Plot Hole) so there would have to be some reason they would head for Origae-6 instead.
Anyway... i look forwards to reading your work at some point over the next 24/48 hours ;)
I applaud you for your Effort... i only get as far as a kind of Beat Sheet where i am like at 60-75% of what i want, and undecided about the rest due to different ideas, and then had thought out roughly how say a number of scenes would pan as far as remotely like a Draft.
I have only read a couple pages so far, but it looks really good!
I think we have to look at the PLOT of Alien Covenant, ignoring all the David/Planet 4 stuff (Alien Covenant Origins Book for example).
We have a Large Group of Humans who wish to abandon Earth and the Kind of World that has become, in pursuit of a New Haven, a New Eden a Paradise to Start a New Life.
Are the Covenant Crew the only ones aware of Origae-6?
Nope! and its possible others would want to go to Origae-6 too, and in any such Colonization Venture if you Determine the World is Totally Earth like... and so a Mission jut has to arrive and start to Build/Set Up Infrastructure begin to Plant Earth Food/Crops.
Then its likely a Secondary Mission would be planned to arrive years latter to deliver more Cargo, Food, Equipment etc etc. Plus some extra Human Colonist.
We can PONDER that this incoming Ship would be expecting a World that is close to Earth like, where the Covenant Ship would have already had been on for a number of years.
So it would be interesting WHAT Origae-6 would actually be like by the time this OTHER Ship arrives.
Ridley Scott claimed there would be 3-4 Incoming Parties... now by Virtue of a 3/4 must imply that ONE Party is similar.. so it could be the 3rd/4th are Alternative Human Ships or Alternative Engineer Ships... but then it could be WALTER (from Planet 4) ...which i doubt but could be.
David as Walter had informed Mission Control if you would that the Covenant is continuing on its Mission to Origae-6.
David as David had informed via Secure Link someone at Weyland-Yutani of who he is and what he has been up to.
I think its highly likely that ONE of the Human Ships would NOT be prepared and would be expecting to Find the Covenant Colony Set-Up on a very Earth like World.
What kind of a WORLD would they arrive at? I feel this ANGLE they have to go with, from the incoming Humans Perspective... much like Alien Covenant was from the Covenant Missions Perspective (it was not set about the 10 year period of what David was up to.. but AFTER).
Yes at a latter point the Weyland-Yutani would turn up with knowledge of what happened... the Advent Message... but its likely they would also send Missions to LV-223 and Planet 4.
so WHAT KIND OF A WORLD... would there be to Discover when the other Human Ship arrive would be the best way to go..
We could end up with a very similar Plot to Raised by Wolves, in context to a Human Colony or Engineered Humans that are raised by David and FED what ever lies he had given them.... For those who DONT want a David movie, well a Aftermath could show what happens when these Beings had Revolted Against David...
This would be more interesting if they are NOT your traditional Humans but Enhanced... and even if David is GONE by the time we start our Movie.... its HOW do those Enhanced Humans who now call Origae-6 Home react to incoming Humans from Earth?
But as i have said this would be a Distraction from ALIEN unless these beings were LESS-HUMAN or at some point we get the introduction of some Horrors of other Experiments David had conducted...
I feel HOWEVER that most Alien Fans would rather see a incoming Human Ship arrive at a World that would be kind of like a Worse Case than turning up to Planet 4 and coming across the SPORES and Davids Eggs in the Cathedral/Citadel
In this case... it cant be a World that LOOKS like the OT Banner.... BUT it could become a World like this after the incoming Humans stumble upon a HORROR that gets loose and out of control...
Or the Banner is what HAPPENS after the Engineers Turn up too.
Thoughts_Dreams
Certainly you are not alone with people being not interested in a David Focused World! Some are Wishfully thinking David does-not create the Xenomorph... maybe this can be changed.
The KIND OF WORLD idea for this Plot... could be what kind of a World is Discovered by a incoming Human Mission, compared to what they had thought that Origae-6 would be.
So you could have a World that is set in a Time AFTER things have got out of Control... a World where David is what we saw of Dr Shaw.. a Corpse of just Missing!
I ponder if David is to arrive at Origae-6 he could see the World as a Good Starting Point, compared to the Contaminated Planet 4. It appears David is very interested in Creation.... he has a lot of Genetic Material to Experiment with on the Covenant, but also what other Life-forms are on Origae-6 that he could want to EVOLVE/PERFECT.
A World David would Create to his own Preferences and he is bound to see the POTENTIAL in his Experiments and Xenomorph as far as the Traits his Creation has that could be a Evolution to the Life on Origae-6
WE could introduce a more Xenomorph/ALIEN Aesthetic to these Creations/World, something more HR Giger...
And so its not quite about what David would Create... but WHAT happens in the Aftermath of such things... Tampering with LIFE that would imprint some Traits of the Xenomorph could have Dire Consequences.
Look at our Humble Worms that become Hammerpedes!
So Evolving a World, that not only be Humanoids, but other Life-Forms could be a BAD idea if these Organisms have traits of the Deacon/Xenomorph... and you can see anyone attempting to so this would STRUGGLE to contain/control such a WORLD.
So what happens when things go to POT!
So it does-not have to be based around DAVID and when he is doing all this stuff... we could ARRIVE at this World long after the Effects of Davids Experiments get out of Control and so we DONT even have to have David in it.
BEFORE... we got Alien Covenant.. i am pretty sure we all could Speculate on what happens when a WORLD is contaminated with the Black Goo... and while we see this with the Neomorph Spores... i think many Fans would have NOT expected such a Limited Aftermath...
You would have been drawn to the Worlds LIFE and Fauna to had been replaced by some Horrors... and not just BBQ Engineers.
Fire and Stone showed us what a World could look like after the Black Goo..... i think we could ponder what IF we see Origae-6 have similar happen... and WHAT happens when a Human Ship arrives at the AFTERMATH!
We still need some Answers.... and so Discovering a Disabled David to just activate and get some information from like they did with Bishop in Alien 3 is something they could explore....
The LONGER a sequel takes... the more likely this would be Davids Role/Fate!
"If we are 3 movies away from Alien, we would be about 15 years away from that considering the time between Prometheus and AC. Will RS be around to direct?"
Certainly is the Big Point... HOW could he fit another few movies that are going to Chronologically link to ALIEN?
Had Alien Awakening got the Green Light and Produced (so if Alien Covenant had made at least 50% more than it had). I think 2019 would have been the Earliest we would have seen the Sequel. And if we are off to Origae-6 and assume the movie takes place on this World, then the Covenant would not arrive until the Year 2122... which leaves 10 years before ALIEN.
We have to ASSUME... unless they use any Time-Travel/Tear in Space... Plot... that the Derelict has been on LV-426 for more than a Few Months...
So a 8-9 Year Period would pass/be covered from the Covenant Arriving on Origae-6 until the Derelict arrives on LV-426. This would be HARD to make more than TWO Movies to Span that Time-Frame.
A New Prequel Trilogy could be a squeeze (Alien Covenant 1-3) but i cant see how more than 3 movies (inc Covenant) would fit into a 17 Year Period (consider 7+ of them will be getting to Origae-6). This would be effected more/limited depending on WHEN the Covenant arrives at Origae-6 and WHEN the Derelict lands on LV-426.
Without showing Davids Xenomorphs are Different, or Time-Travel, then these events would Transpire over a 9-10 Year Maximum Period.
I feel the other Movies would likely had been Parallel to a series of 1-2 sequels to Alien Covenant. And so cover other goings on in the Time-Line of 2105-2122 or other things that occur between 2122-2179
Ridley Scotts Age i feel is a Factor... IF he was to play a role in another 1-2 ALIEN Prequels then he would have to get to work on them within 2-6 Years. I just cant see Ridley Scott Directing in say 10 years time.
"There are more things that you can have in the prequels without it being dominated by a robot that is just evil/have a messed up programming or what ever"
AND
“some may hope for a Explanation that shows Davids Xenomorphs are NOT on the Derelict.”
Yes please"
You are not alone in these concerns... in context to what we do for a sequel, and one that revolves around David Engineering another Human Race who inhabits Origae-6
A large Problem is what kind of a Society/Civilization is built by the time any other Human Ship arrives... and the TIME-RESTRAINTS of the Franchise would LIMIT this.
You see if we ASSUME that we are going to Origae-6, then by the time we have the Covenant Arrive, until when the Nostromo Crew Discover the Derelict we are left with JUST 10 years.
IF they indicate in the sequels that DAVID does-not create the Xenomorph that is on LV-426, then the sequels are not BOUND by Forcing/Marching us to when Davids Xenomorphs end up on the Derelict within a Space of 10 years.
But then Fans are expecting a ALIEN Prequel... and a Engineer's Return... which limits the DEPTH you could give to any Origae-6 Story as far as a World that has Humanoids that David would Engineer.
IF we go for such a Plot... then Davids Engineered Humans would have to GROW Quick... but we have seen this explored with Clone Movies and Replicants. so this could still WORK.
The Dislike for David.. would be a Problem... ONE-WAY would be a Aftermath... A Human Ship arrives at Origae-6 some 5-7 years after David arrived and they discover these Humanoids who are a bit Different... and maybe David is Dead/Disappeared?
IF these Humanoids were raised on the Doctrine that David is their Creator and God, and he had Died, or Disappeared.. then it would be interesting HOW these Humanoids would react to the Incoming Humans!
Would they know who Humans are? What would David had said?
The BIGGER twist would be IF this Human Ship has a Walter, and then those Humanoids could INSTANTLY think this is the Return of their Messiah!
What happens when the Humans and Walter, discover Effigies to David/Walter and see he was seen as GOD/Creator to these Humanoids? And then the Humans/Walter explain to these beings the Origins of David/Walter a revelation that their Would-Be GOD is actually a Creation of these Incoming Humans. And that these Androids are meant to Serve and NOT be Gods.
HOW would a Superior Race to Humans accept that these inferior Species have turned up and declare that they are the Creator of their GOD! and there is NOTHING important about their Creator, he is ONE of many who are made to Serve MANKIND.
This would be VERY interesting, a PLOT that could lessen Davids Screen Time (he could not even play a Role) and Fassbender plays a Walter like Character. You could also wonder how does the Incoming Walter Model React when he sees that ONE of his own Kind could go on to become a Creator and God like Figure instead of being a Servant?
What happens when Engineers Turn up or do so in a Sequel?
The PROBLEM is that by going for a Direct Prequel route now, any of this would be a Distraction, the Xenomorph would be expected, and the movie would be expected to SET-UP a sequel that would HAVE to be more ALIENY and link to ALIEN..
So its a Distraction!
But i do expect Elements explored in my Topics on this subject to show up in Ridley Scotts TV Series Raised by Wolves, which will have Freedom to Express these and not be Forced to have to connect to ALIEN.
Absolutely the Characters have to work..... i dont think Characters are what you build the movie about, you need to look at the Plot Points to build a Structure, these are the Basis.... The Blocks of the Movie.
ONCE you have that... then you have to look at the Characters you have in the Movie and then its a Question of HOW WELL these are done that will effect how well the Movie will do... The Development/Execution of the Characters are the THREAD that ties it together, the MORTAR that binds the BLOCKS
A Weak Mortar and the Blocks will just Fall Apart! So yes once you have your PLOT, you then need to get the Characters Right... a Movie can FAIL on how Poor or Connecting the Characters are... so in a way this is PRIORITY.
You can get a Plot a A-Z of the Movie done that sounds Good and Interesting, then you need a Writer in who can Flesh Out the Characters then a Director who can get the BEST out of them, and Cast who can Portray them well.
I know your not a Fan of the Android Aspect... and a Fan of Human Characters, but a Movie can work and have you connect with NONE-HUMAN Characters IF its done right but you will always need STRONG and WELL-WRITTEN Humans to act as a ANCHOR point, and be our Eyes/POV to the Story.
So indeed any Movie that covers other Races, or Engineers, would need Human Characters to connect with the Audience.
A Problem with say David having his own Colony of Engineered Superior Humans, and having little or NO Humans in the movie... would be its hard to connect to such beings especially if they appear Less Human and are Superior and somewhat Super Human..
They have to be given some Humanity, some Peril, something to have us see some Plight for their Species. This could be difficult to accomplish but NOT impossible. It would require making any other Characters be they Incoming Humans or Engineers, be the ones who the Nasty Selfish SOB's and making the Engineered Humanoids on Origae-6 the ones who are innocent and in plight, just as the Avatar has with the Na'vi... you could even have David become Disappointing and try to Destroy these Humanoids, and see their Peril at escaping the Plans David has for them!
But for this to work, it usually would need some Humans to act as support and Sympathizers to these Humanoids. And being the ones to try and help those Humanoids... or have some Humans in Peril and have some of these Humanoids to help the Humans.
Without any ACTUAL Humans it would become harder to Gauge/Connect with any other Humanoid Species, be they Engineers, be they Davids Creations or some Natives on Origae-6.
There is so many ways a Sequel set on Origae-6 could go, and we could see that there are some Native Humanoids, and if we are to connect with them, then they have to be portrayed as Innocents, and the Colonist or David as the Wicked... but this kind of PLOT could become a bit too much like AVATAR.
Certainly is something to consider... what a surprise it would be for the Covenant Colonist to Discover Origae-6 has Humanoids already there... HOW do they react?
Do the Natives become Aggressive, Welcoming?
Do they form a Bond/Covenant and work hand in hand, and then we see the Colonist start to Treat Walter as just a Machine, and so Walter (David) starts to feel... "here we go again"... and then Unleashes Hell on those Humans?
How do the Natives React? Does he attack them too? How do they View/Treat David? Would they see him as a Godly Figure, and how would Humans react to that.
So yes a lot of Potential, but again maybe it puts Davids Role as being quite HIGH for some Fans, and also Fans would ask HOW would this connect to ALIEN eventually and so it would have to have the Xenomorph or Similar involved and SET-UP a sequel that would connect more closer to ALIEN.
"Having another movie just for the sake of it is nothing that I support, I prefer quality over quantity."
I would not really agree with this... i think YES i agree in Terms to giving us another ALIEN movie set aside from the Prequels, or giving us a sequel to Alien Resurrection, or GOD Forbid a Reboot of ALIEN 3
But the Alien Covenant we had a series that was billed as a Prequel Route that would lead to ALIEN... and so ALIEN Covenant is the ONLY movie that actually LENDS to Needing a Sequel. Prometheus also to a degree... the other ALIEN movies... they all ended without the Need for a Sequel.
There is a Problem with Alien Covenant and the route taken though, and i feel they need to remember that while they have given us a ALIEN Prefix Prequel Series, then the Movies have to connect to the Xenomorph and lead up to ALIEN i think by Virtue of the Route taken they cant go and try and explore other things if the Emphasis is to NOT include or set up the Xenomorph or lead into ALIEN.
The route Alien Awakening was rumored to take, is a distraction of Sorts to the ALIEN Franchise, and certainly does-not follow what the Set-Up seems to be from the Movie.
Regarding Prometheus and the Disappointments... a lot of Criticism on the Internet had been about how POOR the Characters and Questionable Actions and other Flaws were. The movie could have been about Xenomorphs, or even just been a Weyland Company Movie and indeed getting the Characters and Story right are a MUST.
But there are a % of the Fans who EXPECTED to see more of a connection to ALIEN which this movie just never delivered, these Connections are HOW does this connect to ALIEN and offer any clues to the Derelict its Purpose, the Space Jockey its Purpose, and the Xenomorph Egg Origins.
I dont think every fan expected to see exact answers or even show us the Space Jockey Event or have Xenomorphs running around... some would have expected this.. i think a lot more just expected a bit more of a Connection.
I think a lot of what made Alien Covenant become something different was Fans just appeared to not be too happy with seeing a Sequel that would follow David and Dr Shaw to meet our Engineers and NEVER give any clues to ALIEN or maybe have any related Monsters.
Which is when they heard about Blomkamps Alien 5 Project this seemed to get more Hype from the Fanbase... and so this MAYBE is why FOX felt that they needed to give the Fans the Origins of the Xenomorph and bring it back.
Once the Dust had Settled with Prometheus, more Fans accepted what the Movie was trying to do, but they still could not overlook the FLAWS of the Movie as far as Characters and Execution of the Plot went. So i agree this means that a Majority of Gripes are HOW the movie had been executed.
I still think there was expectation that the movie would at some point in its series give Fans something more closer to ALIEN and Answers... I feel the comments by Ridley Scott and Lindeloff that appeared to suggest a Sequel would NOT connect to ALIEN or be about the Xenomorph, may have effected some Fans interest in seeing a Prometheus 2.
There was a lot of Anticipation for Blomkamps Alien 5, and excitement... which may have helped to sway FOX to bringing back the Xenomorph and to CONNECT to ALIEN rather than STEER away.... and i think they were SHOCKED at how Disappointing Alien Covenant had done.
Its hard for them to Gauge what went wrong.... and deciding what they feel they need to change is going to be tough. They cant afford to get it WRONG Twice.
I think a Bull Alien could work if we have a infection of some Bovine Beast
There is plenty of Scope for Expanded Stories in the ALIEN Universe thanks to Prometheus and what it had opened up. You could have a Indication of a Story Set in Mythical Times Merging the Engineers with the Story of the Minotaur as being such a Beast!
If we even look at Origae-6... if the objective is to SET-UP a Colony, you sure as hell would expect the Covenant Ship to bring Crops with them and so they would Plant/Harvest crops like Wheat and Corn.... they would also bring some Animals with them and Cattle would be a Good Option.
This could bring the Potential to see a COW or Similar become Infected and Produce a Horned Horror, and i feel having some Helpless Humans being Chased by a Xenomorph-like Beast in a Wheat or Corn Field would offer some Suspense as you would not be able to see where the MONSTER is coming down and would add a whole NEW dimension to being chased and NOT seeing where from, with NO Escape and would make for maybe a more Tense Chase Scenes than running through Tunnels on a Ship or Prison etc.
Who knows what kind of Project it would be...
I dont think Hallett works a lot as far as Comics go, i feel he does a lot of Concept Work, but his comments seem to indicate to me that he has been doing some work for a Titan Books Project that means he would be having at least ONE but maybe more of his work appearing in this Book/Project.
It does-not seem like its Work he had done previously for any kind of Story they had been working on behind the scenes...
So it seems more like its work for a Book that had been in the Process of being worked on.
So i think it could be a series of Novels for which he has worked on the Cover-work (other Illustrations inside). Or maybe Titan are working on a Similar Book to a ALIEN Encyclopedia or similar.
So maybe a Updated Alien The Weyland-Yutani Report
I think ALIEN Day will give us a indication to what this Project is.
Happy Belated Birthday to Micheal Fassbender
Regarding David.... i found his Character interesting, but i am not sure it was quite the right direction taken in Alien Covenant.
I think some fans also see David's Character as being something that has KILLED off a number of Avenues that a Sequel to Prometheus could have explored.
*Follow Dr Shaw and her Quest for Answers when she Finally arrives at Paradise.
Nope she never gets them because David KILLS her.
*To Discover more about the Engineers, their Motives, Reasons for this and that.
Nope we never get anything because David KILLS them.
*Some Fans hoped we may see more clues about the Xenomorph and maybe what role LV-223 played.
Nope! We get the revelation that David creates them, from being Bored and wanting something to Destroy Mankind (this is how it can be interpreted by some).
These are THREE things i think Fans may have had high hopes for in the Sequels... but the Sequel became like the David show and he KILLED OFF the First Two things and was responsible for Number 3, really has upset/disappointed fans.
In reality these Plot Twists are what the Studio came up with, which have made a bit of a Hatred Towards David's Character.... i think it will be hard to get a David Character back on track that many fans would want to see.
But everyone is entitled to their opinions and indeed the Studio/Ridley Scott had made some bad decisions in context to how a sequel could have been handled.
You are a very difficult customer, madam.
I got my Thursday night ticket even though Fandango was being a pain in the ass.
BD:
Sure I agree that it will not be perfect but they should have tried better like getting a writer that can write characters or at least someone that does not write it so we only get three or maybe four of them (MF *2, Oram, and eventually Farris).
“But certainly the First 3 Movies were Fine... after that, well the Characters never worked for me.”
For me too as far as Prometheus is concerned I think that Janek and David were alright but I did not care about the rest. The AVP’s, ha ha ha!
“I think on the BROAD basis, i agree with the Franchise, the Xenomorph is ONLY a Part... and in terms of after the Franchise, with a Prequel i agree there should be something more than the Xenomorph... do something NEW.”
Yeah, otherwise it gets repetitive (Friday the 13 th anyone?).
“And trying to do something thats NOT about the Xenomorph, so trying to pull a Prometheus for a Alien Covenant Sequel would be a Distraction....”
Maybe but it also depends on what you focus on and how you make the human characters. They can try something new but it has to be given a lot of thought and be executed well (I actually thought that the Engineers were interesting, not so much David in Covenant though). I agree that it must be better than Prometheus but at least it tried something new to its credit.
Yes new monsters and the Engineers is what I hope that the next one will have. They got to be made interesting and make sense without being obvious.
The company could have a part in it so we get the no good corporation thing back. I do not say that it has got to be all about that but at least I am more interested in that than in Weyland trying to get more life.
“However... when talking about the sequel Ridley Scott said it Would-Not be about the Xenomorph, it would be about AI and what KIND of a World David would Create/Build.”
Yeah, the thing is that I don’t care about that at all. I am tired of it always being about David so stop that. There are more things that you can have in the prequels without it being dominated by a robot that is just evil/have a messed up programming or what ever.
“But i agree RS does appear Vague with Statements, so confusion often happens., sometimes you can Ponder if he is the one who is Confused lol”
Someone give him an interpreter, now. LMAO!
What I like about the franchise that the movies are different compared to each-other so many people find something to like and very few people agree with each-other, but that is alright. Yes I know that many dislike Alien 3 but I am totally fine with that, there are many people that like it but also many that dislike it or are indifferent to it.
Yup, the Engineers are interesting and I hope that they will get an expanded role if there will be another movie. Less David please.
“FOX felt that having the Origins Answered and introducing the Xenomorphs is WHAT the Fans want... Hence RS and his "they want Aliens, i will give them Fricken Aliens" comment.”
Yeah but I think that Fox misread the whole situation. I have seen many comments about characters doing lame stuff but I have seen less criticism that there were no aliens.
“Whatever David does for the next 5-8 years is NOT likely going to please Fans,”
I can only speak for myself but I honestly do not care about that. He can go fishing or something and I would be like “what ever”.
“some may hope for a Explanation that shows Davids Xenomorphs are NOT on the Derelict.”
Yes please
“I dont think most Fans are like... oh i we need mainly Good Human Characters... they would want other stuff but expect that the movie would need Improved Human Characters to work.”
I can see that but then how would they react if the characters were not well-done? This is where I think that they are important even if that is not what you find the most interesting about it.
“We need Human Characters in Peril... but we also need a THREAT that is Good, and Fits within the ALIEN Franchise...”
I agree, but no Zombie (I am looking at you Prometheus) thank you very much.
Running time, well they got to prioritize. For me it is a good story and good human characters, at least so there are enough of them. The rest comes after that (environment, androids, what ever).
“For me this would make it all about David... and i think thats a mistake.”
Yeah because if that is the plan they might as well throw it into the toilet.
It was alright, we did not get to know much about the character but I like the horror vibe. Some people might complain but at least it was more alien than P and AC.
NTFS: If it would be me I would wait for a squad of soldiers with serious bombs to blow the shit up. If there would be any bacteria or something in there it would probably die in the explosion. It is the only way to be sure. ;)
Leto:
Yes, they did not learn from Prometheus and made poorly written and/or executed characters. All they thought was that it was about the Xenos and they were wrong so we ended up with Alien Covenant. There are now more bad or average alien movies than there are good ones.
