I have only played Alien Isolation Once and did not get very far, but i roughly know the the Plot.  I think it could work as a Sequel, however you would not be able to have a vast amount of time in a 2 hour movie, committed to Amanda hiding and running away from a Xenomorph.

So it would be the interaction with other Characters in the Plot that would make it work.

Isolation is canon.Difference is Creative assembly wasn't pushing for it to canon as hard as Gearbox with the ill fated Colonial Marines.

But much like DK said canon seems to be really up to you.I consider all six primary films as well as Alien Isolation and Aliens Defiance canon.AVP's aren't canon in my mind.

Dr Swojd was a guy that kept attacking Ati in pretty much every thread he posted. Very rude and offensive.I reported him and dude was banned pretty much immediately.

SciFi Explained OK. We have discussed what is or is not canonical pretty thoroughly over the last two years. The outcome varies from Alien alone being canon to the Quadrilogy or only Scott films. It was pretty much decided that canon is decided on an individual level- including toys.

Please cite the Creative Assembly source stating Isolation is non canon.

Was just researching canon and saw that the makers of Isolation say its not canon to the movies.

We don't need a film adaptation of Isolation, but it sounds like the best idea right now instead of a bloated high concept movie that would likely fall flat and piss off fans....AGAIN.

Alien Isolation to me is canon.Wouldn't mind a movie if done right but I don't need it.I saw on Facebook some one pushing for a movie with Amanda Ripley played By Sigourney Weavers daughter.

The challenge of translating a game to a movie is tough. I think the first couple Resident Evil movies were ok but that's about it.

LOL! id could be a pain but he was at least intelligent and humorous- until he crossed a line that I don't remember. I kind of miss that element. Cue Edith and Archie Bunker- "Those were the Days!"

I don't believe there is any reference to a queen in any files or audio logs.For the most part you as well as the rest of Sevastopols inhabitants were meant to believe it was just one Alien stalking the station.The reveal of a hive comes as a suprise.

So far,i have played through the game 3 times and haven't seen any evidence of a queen,but i accept that it's there.I'm going to listen very closely at that location in the clip next time i play.

I wouldn't be against an Isolation film because it was an excellent story, but I feel that story was best served as a game platform. Credit to Creative Assembly for creating such a dread experience.

Like I mentioned to you dk I initially watched my brother play through isolation and thought it looked like a cool game, then you convinced me to play it for myself....totally different experience because you were put in Amanda Ripleys' shoes and had the bloody things chasing you!

Movie's cannot recreate that experience of being stalked like Isolation did. 

But on the flip side, great plot, premise, characters, pacing. It would make for a suspenseful movie and be a welcome addition to the Alien films  

That's a cool easter egg if it was a queen. I like the idea of there being an unencountered Queen on the Sevestapol the whole time. no need to include it just because they could. The root of this game was the isolation of being stalked by the xenomorph. 

I'll have to play it again with the assumption that there is a queen onboard somewhere and see it changes the experiences at all.....and look for clues XD

Agreed.It would have been predictable,not to mention it would have detracted from their intentions to keep it rooted in Scotts vision.

I remember having a queen may have changed the experience. As SM correctly stated:

"The backstory was there was a Queen on board.  They didn't want to reveal it because it would create an expectation that you'd have to fight it, which they didn't want."

It could be interesting if they avoid the idea that AI/robots/androids are running the company. Having it centered around androids is partially what ruined AC.

It seems more exciting than to follow the David story. This could actually be interesting if it is done right. How they described day 1 2 and 3 could be something.

The concept art looks really interesting. I like how it looks like they are inside some science lab. Once again it goes back to the humans and how they respond to an alien attack.

I do not want AI to have anything to do with this since AC effed it up enough. My hope is for this to be based on human greed like how corporations do what ever they can to get profits at the expense of everything else. The idea of looking more into WY is interesting but I hope that they will keep some things about it a secret.

ScorpioStar: Effects-wise the mouth-burster looked good but since I did not have any connection to the character I did not feel a lot but I can tell you that I would feel very stressed if I would be in a situation like that. Most of the names of the characters in AC I do not remember the names of because they were in the background and were not well developed. The amount of gore and how they put that together is nothing that I have a problem with.

As far as the characters I think that they are better done/acted in Aliens than in the prequels. Their deaths certainly affected me more, for example Vasques which I thought was a more interesting character compared to Ripley anyways.

That is not why I am not a huge fan of the prequels and I am not a huge Cameron fan per se even though Titanic was alright, and also Avatar. Terminator 1 and 2 are also good even though I have not watched them since forever. Aliens is OK even though I do not watch it that often. Maybe he didn’t cook it but he made it more relatable by making it like a hive insect. Renew the Xeno is not why I am not a fan of the prequels, my reason is that they lack (both movies) human characters to believe in and that it is centered on a robot that has gone bonkers and that it is all about him. Aliens is better even though it is an older movie.

What I like about this forum is that there are people with many different opinions. Many might agree or disagree but that they try to do so in a humane tone so there is a discussion and not some screaming where people are like “fuck you!” and get all emotional. As far as I know you have tried to follow that civilized kind of tone so thank you. I can honestly say that I do not have any particular favorite among those that post here, we all bring our things here and that is fine. Hopefully we will be able to keep that tone that contributes to interesting discussions.

It seems there could have been a queen that was heard but unseen. Egg morphing makes sense but don't forget the swarm of xenos that erupted under the reactor in the game. 

It could not be a prequel to Alien since there was that voice recording from Ellen that Amanda found. It seems it would happen after Alien- post Aliens is out since Newt would have had to be mentioned.

Regarding a queen on Sevastopol.

I'm uncertain about the idea.Alien Isolation works great as a game,you lose something with the interactivity taken away.

The plot itself is solid,but follows so many beats from the original Alien it might fall flat on film.James Cameron's intentions as he put it were to not make the film like Alien or even take baby steps from Alien,but to make something new,and it worked.If Isolation were the sequel we got in 1986 i'm not so sure how well it would have held up.

I think an Isolation movie could be great but it would be better after Aliens since Amanda (mentioned in Aliens DC) was mentioned and she found Ellen's voice recording during the game. There was also evidence of a possible queen presence. As for making a novel of Isolation, I suppose it can be done but the game is iron clad solid and doesn't need a book.
