i would have LOVED to see Abbie Cornish as "Shaw",
i am so glad that the rumored Ben Foster casting is just that - - a rumor (i don't like him much)
cool post here RipleyClone8, thanx for sharing these!

Thanks for the post Ripley, It is nice to read over all of the things currently know about this mysterious film.

Excellent post! Movies.com always tries to run articles like this but usually they screw them up. You sir, have done an excellent job :D
June can't come soon enough! Oh, and Gemma Alterton is a sexy beast, but hearing how much Ridley likes Noomi as an actress I'm positive she is the better pick!

Thanks RC8.
Nice to read the summery of what we know of right now. Some nice facts! Also, thats an awesome fact about the androids, Ash, Bishop, Call, and David. Very interesting.

Most of that I have seen but I have NEVER seen that Giger was brought in to help reverse-engineer the Xeno... What is the source on that?
The MOST I have heard is that Giger was involved in several murals. My gut feeling is that Giger has been involved in many aspects, but that we are not being told that directly.
ReplyaintnozenoPrometheus ForumPrometheus Fun FactsFeb 3, 2012
I have a silly question- because it's been a long week and my brain is fried:
Is there any actual confirmation that the ship itself is actually called Prometheus, or could that just be the mission name, or even nothing more than the movie title? I know this is the assumption, but the only ship name I remember seeing on any hull parts is Magellan.
Is this confirmed, or just a speculative fact?
ReplyGavinPrometheus Forumandroids/ programmed or free will Feb 3, 2012
Well first of all Bishop was an executive officer, not a science officer.
Also Bishop said that what Ash did could no longer happen because all Synthetics are now fitted with behavourial Inhibitors that do not allow them to harm humans (I'm sure someone knows the full quote).
i think they are probably bound by their programming, being property of WY, to follow company orders, but Bishop displayed a glimmer of free will quite a few times, whereas Ash was pretty much the companies lap dog.
I think the later models became more 'human' in their thinking and actions, so it will be interesting to see how David fits in too chronology!
ReplyGigerFacePrometheus Forumandroids/ programmed or free will Feb 3, 2012
Yeah I was wondering the same thing when I posted my topic about David questioning whether he was an android or a cyborg because that would make a difference in how his behavior plays out.
ReplyBellaisanAlienPrometheus Forumandroids/ programmed or free will Feb 3, 2012
Maybe David will mutate into Ash and become the Engineers lapdog and MUTH'UR is actually Ash and Ripley talking to the Engineers, who have taken over the computer systems. So this would explain why Weyland Yutani are in the dark in Aliens, etc. The Engineers may take over human technology in Alien to safely investigate LV 426 so none of their race gets infected. Maybe they have quarantined the planet; far fetched I know lols.
Replyalteredstate.Prometheus Forumandroids/ programmed or free will Feb 3, 2012
yeah i was thinking bishop was examining the face hugger the same way ash appeared to thats why i thought he was a science officer.
Replyalteredstate.Prometheus Forumandroids/ programmed or free will Feb 3, 2012
i'm also thinking that there may be a crisis of confidence in the android brain or more accurately a sympathetic bond / affinity with life... any life form a bit like blade runner and consequently the eggs on the derelict and the events there after are a result of davids wish for them to flourish and the signal is a warning to stay away .
Or maybe i need a break from these forums a bit lol.
ReplyBellaisanAlienPrometheus ForumThe 'crash'Feb 3, 2012
I've already said my piece on a thread a few days ago. I think the shot of it upright and with Shaw peering up at it COULD BE before any collision occurs.
But this site appears to be getting a little communist like lately so I will use my freedom of speech and thought whilst I still can,........
Lols, (jokes - no offence intended) :)
ReplyshardyPrometheus ForumThe 'crash'Feb 3, 2012
@Herk Mondo: you make some valid points
after i watched the HD PROMETHEUS trailer so MANY TIMES over, the shot of the
Engineer's craft seems to have collided violently with another craft in mid air above the
landscape that Shaw and Vickers seemed to have touched down on, and if you notice,
the Engineer's ship seems to have made a deep HUGE divot on the side of a mound of
soil (see the frozen frame in the trailer on this websites homepage) the craft seems to
have collided / dropped / then rolled over and over as both Shaw and Vickers flee to
escape the crashing ships ground-bound rolling trajectory
i'm glad i am not alone in this particular observation. great theory there Herk Mondo
ReplyNineteenHundredPrometheus ForumThe 'crash'Feb 3, 2012
There's no way to know until the movie is shown. But there is definitely SOMETHING strange about this whole crash situation. The ship definitely "crashes" but I am willing to bet it does NOT 'collide' with something mid-air. I would say that something happens INSIDE the ship to cause the crash. But the most strange thing is HOW we see it in the trailer: 'upright', 'rolling', smashing into the ground. Honestly it's all VERY odd. If this was a Michael Bay movie trailer the whole scene could easily be guessed but this is just strange.
ReplyEGR101Prometheus ForumThe 'crash'Feb 3, 2012
Maybe they just want that Summer Movie cliche: heroes being chased by fireball/exploding cars/crashing & burning ships/train/trucks as they run towards the camera.
A giant rolling alien ship? Think about it.
Replywheresbasky?Prometheus ForumThe 'crash'Feb 3, 2012
Why don't we start "a Book" on this and just play for bragging rights!!!
closest theory wins!!!....I'll even start a thread where we can pay homage to the winner
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumThe 'crash'Feb 3, 2012
I remember seeing the trailer for Star Wars Episode III ... had a lot of sequences and disorderly scenes, ie at random. It has come to pass me the scene of the great head occurs on Earth. Regarding the crash, we can see a scene in the trailer for Vickers tightening their belts in a kind of emergency Pod, who knows, maybe she prepared to leave the hall before crash against the ship Jockey . But it is also possible that as the images are random.
Maybe it sounds unimaginative but I think the Prometheus crashed into the Derelict to prevent this infest the land, ie a true Kamikaze ...
ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumThe 'crash'Feb 3, 2012
That shot of the Derelict appearing to stand upright on solid ground looks to me as if it could well be a totally different planet and/or "Derelict" type ship. . . It looks like that's it's true docking position of sorts.

@GigerFace, Interesting article, and Antarctica is certainly one of the environments more hostile and hard around the world. On the other hand can reveal answers and scientific knowledge about life in extreme conditions, and who knows, about life on other planets.
To purpose, checks this article, about a case is just as interesting and that has not been clarified at all until today...

Actually this is very interesting, in terms of the drilling, they're using some fairly common oil drilling practices there in terms of hole balancing etc, but i was hoping that they would be using the NASA derived stuff discussed a few years back to do this. Was supposed to be a test for the technology they would send to titan or europa, so as not to contaminate an untouched environment with outside biology or chemicals.

@Shambhala, wow I'd never heard about this incident! Hmmm, "compelling unknown force"?! WTF is that suppose to mean lol?! And those strange orange orbs that were reported sighted near their camp?! Not to mention the radioactive factor! Yeah, I really wish the world governments would give us normal citizens the benefit of doubt and that they start doing some disclosure. I wish they'd stop being like parents and treating us like kids by sending us to our rooms when adults are talking lol. And @Tec-B, I agree, why didn't they attempt to incorporate some of that tech into the drilling?! The whole thing smells of shenanigans!

There is also the myth of Agartha and the travels of Admiral Richard E. Byrd, who allegedly piloted the plane through the poles of Antarctica have made contact with intraterrestrial beings, but in general the hollow Earth theory this totally rejected by the scientific community the lack of empirical evidence. But when I see The Thing by John Carpenter can not stop thinking about these kinds of mysteries...

Thanks Enderwiggin, I posted pics of the sketches I'm working from in the previous post: "The Giger Project". I'll follow up with some pics of the costume pieces this weekend. I can only work on it part-time so it won't be the whole suit (since I only started conceptualizing the costume last weekend).
