Ya I have heard or read somewhere that Scott considers Alien and Bladerunner takes place in the same universe. Not sure if that was intended at the time the films were made though. Maybe we'll get Deckard hunting an Alien that thinks he's human in another film. Lol

The graphic is fully intended for the Nostromo detaching from the refinery. Got to be HALO for me, anyday HALO 1 for the campaign, does everyone remember 'The Silent Cartographer' and 'Assualt on the Control Room'? What incredible levels. 2 and 3 for the multiplayer, without doubt the most enjoyable way to spend 4-5 hours hunched in front of your TV. COD is ok but it always feels like who shoots first wins. HALO in my opinion was more tactical and the weopon you were holding made all the difference in how you approached the battle, COD has too many similar weopons.

I think the Neil Blomkamp "Halo" movie which never happened would almost certainly have been amazing. I'm really looking forward to "Elysium."

Thanks alteredstate... (BTW, one of my all time favorite movies). I'll do my best with the SJ idea and post what I can. For the most part, my wife gets it/(me). She worked for Universal for a few years on "Seaquest" back in the 90's and was also a locations/casting person for other productions. She's more the writer/children's director-type, but tolerates the big bugs. Since then I've added an 8 foot spider in a 15 ft. web (that will eventually be holding a nuclear missle).

Well my thread is sent to the concept of the Odyssey 2001 sequel, called Odyssey 2010... where extraterrestrial gods desiden terraform Europe, so they are forced to destroy jupiter native creatures to feel greater favoritism by the Europans have greater possibilities of evolution (part of the Office). Wow, this crustacean has earned the title of face hugger; although their meat is very delicious, because luckily they have no acid in the blood. On the other hand the theory of the dilation of time on special trips is very good, I can imagine a few astronauts now leaving Earth to travel to the system zeta reticuli estalar, maybe your trip will be 5 years traveling at the speed of light; but on Earth have been 2000 years. Maybe the astronauts returning to Earth to find mutants product of the radioactive contamination or versions evolved homo sapiens. certainly many times I thought that UFOs are human time travelers. The way the "Gun" looking part of the chair is so elongated etc, it makes it an odd choice shape to be a transmitting device. As it would appear to only transmit in a very precice angle/location. . . I think it would well be more of a kind of sensor/radar type gizmo, which aimed at the right area in space will give info about any ships i.e Prometheus maybe ;) Which could then be used to ready the Xeno egss perhaps, for their arrival. How's that sound??

this appears to be david in the same room as the one with jockeys chair (before it rises) you can see the sarcophagi (yes, i had to look that up) - this looks to be on the ship. its a great image, theres also a couple of ominous looking holes at opposite ends of the pic for access or something. the star map looks to be of our solar system, im guessing here but the little blocks of data/logarithms that are expanded to show scale parts of the universe or could be systems of satellites/data relay etc...throughout the galaxies - im reaching here..!!

@alteredstate re: ROBIN HOOD This production was actually more turbulent than most would like to think. The original script was a revisionist Robin Hood where the Sheriff of Nottingham is actually the only good guy caught in-between greedy, buffoonish King John, and the boozing/womanizing Robin Hood (!). In this early treatment, Robin Hood was a rich spoiled playboy who robs the rich, yes, but does it to impress the chicks, LOL. King John is no better portrayed as a megalomaniac who competes with Robin Hood for the affection of the people. And the two become rivals in some kind of a medieval pageant contest. So Robin Hood is not a symbol of Socialism & Activism as in those earlier cinematic incarnations. No wonder Ridley was initially attracted to the project. But the studio decides not to kill a potential franchise and went back to the basic. You can see the final product is pure Ridley in terms of visual & production values, but it doesn't have a strong core, or a compelling plot. I really wish Ridley negotiated for lower budget & went for the revisionist treatment. The first draft of the screenplay was titled NOTTINGHAM.

yeah no problems with the look of the film engr and that was a different take on it but still i feel it was a strange choice for him but i enjoyed it, cant say its bad just not a great film in my opinion.

yessss i did heard of it too and i think it was a great idea ( the revisionist plot ) ... anyway it was one of those projected that smelled "failure" to me from the beginning .

@Frantz Whoa, I hope by "failure" you meant that it is not going to have full studio support right? You know in comic book world, they allow for some radical re-interpretation of famous superhero characters. There is a Batman mini series that is about Batman who is actually a descendant of a vampire cult. LOL! Now as much as I would love to see this alternative take on Batman mythology, Warner Bros would never ever produce, in their lifetime, lol, an R-rated Batman movie where the dark knight is really a knight of pure darkness, a vampire. Not when a Batman movie could earn a billion dollars in global box office. This twisted spin on the familiar tale is on spin-off DC label. The more conventional Batman series still continues of course. I love to see a talented filmmaker tackle that revisionist Robin Hood story. Just don't use the name Robin Hood in the script.

well i dont know the motivations that have carried Ridley scott to tell again a story that everybody know ... and that have made in 3948 different ways ....and that have some excellent or very fresh examples ( the very excellent Robin and Marian with Sean Connery , The one with kevin kostner , the walt disney one exc exc ...) .

Yes i thought as much to but the character noomi rapace plays is supposed to have a real slog towards the end of the movie where she was required to give her all in an exhausting finale so it could possibly be her in the jockey suit.

@dawas: i posted that theory on here a while back, and was pretty much stoned in the middle of the PROMETHEUS town square i mentioned his dealing with the bioformer could mutate his system / physiology and was told by a few folks on here that my theory was basically - - - "stupid / bullshit" glad that someone else has now given "David's" character that possibility

Vickers and David are the characters more mysterious in Prometheus. In my opinion they are more promising than Shaw, and in the case of David is likely to play a key role in the plot. The theory that is the Space Jockey is not far-fetched, independent of the opinion of the snobs, those Who Believe that they know everything. It is a confirmed fact that what we saw in Alien, the eighth passenger was a suit, a suit biomechanoid; It is therefore possible that our friend Android could develop a compatibility or symbiosis with the biological suit. I wonder if you can fit this theory with the Pinocchio?

@Shambhala and @Shardy, I like your thinking. It has been said that David plays a pivitol role in the film so it has to be something major - transformation to Jockey or Xeno. I can't understand the way of thinking that 'if it has been discussed already by everyone - then we will dismiss your theory' or 'The majority disagree it could happen'. Totally plausible that David can transform when infected with alien technology, after all it is seen in the footage his hand pulsating. Anything at this stage could be a possibility so nice to hear some ideas.... :)

The more I read these theories about the who the space jockey is or how he came to be, the more I realize I just want him to be a bad ass space jockey from another planet. I mean, in Alien '79, regardless of him being in a suit in that chair, he is giant! Like what, 15' -20' tall if it were a human sitting there. The idea that something burst out of that giant SJ and was once running around that ship was awesome. Now don't get me wrong, I have total faith in Ridely... however, that said, I know how writers can get carried away and venture from the more um obvious/suitable plot line in order to try and surprise or shock the viewers who think they know it. So we shall see come June. All in all, excitement level for this film, scale 1-10 is a 14.23 And what is better, is I have thoroughly enjoyed going back and re-watching the Alien series, and their making, and deleted scenes to try and really flesh out hints/ideas for this film :D

@shardy, dawas, etc., I'm in your camp about this. The real ignorance is thinking that something non-human like David cannot integrate with extraterrestrial biological matter. And thinking that extraterrestrial DNA works exactly like DNA does in Earth-based life. And thinking that extraterrestrial life is composed of Earth-based DNA to begin with. It is perfectly rational to me that extraterrestrial "DNA" can bond with David's machinery and circuits. That's the whole point of truly alien life--it won't and shouldn't make sense to us at all from our myopic, Earth-centric frame of reference.

well, obviously the original ALIEN DNA is different from ours when it evolves from chestburster to full size in a couple of hours..

In the Necronomicon we see that biomechanoids are assimilated and attached to structures such as floors, walls, ceilings, etc. Very well, perhaps in Prometheus will not see literally that, but the biomechanoids are true machines living... also as not to forget of the Alien gods of Prometheus created mankind, therefore I see no impossible that human DNA can be assimilated by the creators. It is not a vision of anthropocentrism, it is only the thread of the plot... Scott said: ¿who is inside the suit?...Scott is very metaphorical when making statements, but remember that it is a suit and it is possible that a human or Android makes use of the. What people want is one thing and another is What can really happen, and I say this because many people do not like the idea of the suits...plus they are theories and truth her will know the day of the premiere. I think that David will have a role in whatever biomechanical design there may be. You have to remember Ridley wants to take this in a new direction, and get away from the franchise monster. I think that it would be plausible to think that the SJ or SJ's use the humans and the idea of pseudo humans to develop something new entirely. The process may be completely different than a facehugger, chestbuster, alien scenario. However, maybe it mutates to that. I find it interesting that there is large structure in one of the scenes resembling a human with the urn type vessels, which resemble the eggs. The SJ is probably a large humanoid and what we see in alien is the biomechanical suit.

I touched on the idea before that the andriod could well be the "thing" we saw in the trailer in the space jockey chair room, which would mean the true "SJ" perhaps we've not seen in the trailer yet. Deliberatley might I add. . . The android transforming or whatever could also explain the biomechanical origin of the Xenomorph itself.

A lot of interesting ideas here. But I doubt that David is the one who initiates the whole alien/android symbiosis. Unless he is a willing participant...
