I agree with spacejock. Just taking in everyones opinions and comments and will enjoy the movie when it gets here. But the "helmet" that we see being scanned could be a different size than in alien. So far the chair we see coming up threw the floor has no humans next to it. So we dont know exactly how big it is just yet. The space jockey who dies in Alien sould be much bigger than the helmet being scanned.

no, you're a fool as is anyone who belives this. it's the same size. do more comparisons if you don't believe me. and the space jockey "head" is a skull, stupid. of course it's smaller. it has cranial suture marks. just use your eyes and your head. my god.

U know, the cranial suture marks are only present on that fan made sculpture that leaked a few days ago. Hes just saying it still should be bigger as a helmet/skull/whateverdafuq it is, compared to the skull dallas is looking at up close in alien. Maybe it is only optical illusion and there isnt a great inconsistency?

From the 3rd image, we can see those tubes sprouting out of the creature's back which is very reminiscent of our favorite Xenomorphs.

I know the head is different but that 3rd picture reminds me of the Queen alien. I know there are more differences than just the head.

Also in the 2nd pic if you look at the SJ's fingers they are fused together just like the xeno in Alien.

Scott has said the SJ in Alien is in a space suit and it stands to reason that if the movie Prometheus is about exploring our origins then our so called creators would be humanoid.

It is very possible. I just dont know if the space jockey ship would hold up to all the volcanic activity. But of course we know nothing of the ship so maybe it can endure all of it.

though somehow i doubt it, because the planet which is seen in the Prometheus trailer seems to be more evolved than the prehistoric LV-426 from ALIEN or ALIENS. We are still unsure whether the crashed Derelict is the same Derelict from ALIEN / ALIENS. But maybe all Space Jockey vessels are carrying the ampules and creatures that can evolve into a bio weapon like the xenomorph we all know.

that's a hilariously bad theory. and i hope it's not true. oh and it's the same planetoid/moon. the terrain is exactly the same. go look at photos of the filming location. just because there are wide open areas doesn't mean it's suddenly a different planet.

i think that it could be the same planet i like the idea of them going to the past i mean it would explain why the ship and jockey are old in alien. and maybe the planet was more stable in the past like. earth is stable now but i bet sometime in the future around the same time somthing would fossilize i am pretty sure it could look prehistoric and old

yes often people forget that Giger's artworks are so dark and scary because they have human shapes in them .

Frantz, you are a true fan like me. I have seen many comments on this site being negative about Prometheus because they know nothing about the original Alien novel or Gigers work. Maybe they would be more happy with more Sigourney weaver/alien baby or sex scenes! I mean this is what should have been done in the first place.

not to mention that the original Alien was always considered as a biomechanoid which is also quite humanoid. In Alien Resurection, all that meachanical and elegant design fainted in favor into the slimey grotesque creatures, despite they are supposed to have more human DNA from Ripley than before. IMO, Jean-Luc jeunet sucked badly and is responsible that there will be no ALIEN 5 at all.

Well my own theories and conjecture on this new film is and i'm speculating here is that the Engineers are the alien masters of creation not just of humankind as we know it now but possibly all of the evolution that our planet and its inhabitants have gone through since the beginning of time. That includes all animal life and life in general on this planet from Neanderthal man and all of his evolutionary stages to the present. The thing that i'm not sure of... ( and i'm not sure of anything yet regarding Prometheus).. but i can't help wondering if the engineers are genetic engineers that through d.n.a experiments created not only the Xenomorphs, but also the space jockeys, or are they one and the same thing the Engineers are the jockeys/pilots,.. or that they were created from the same genome of the Xenomorphs and have some connection to their life cycle somehow. ( they look so similar in their genetic make up).. The discovery of man and its own d.n.a mapping / coding will allow these intergalactic biologists to further their life creating experiments to create something completely new . After all they went searching for their beginning but what they found could lead them to their end.

You start from the assumption that prometheus will make disturbing revelations about the creation of man ( and probably it will )...if anyone ( atheist or religious ) take this seriousely i will be speechless .... If someone raise a religious debate about a sci fi movie is because he feel the need to talk about that ...not for the movie itself .

eh well, i believe in god, and i don't take this movie as offensive ^^ I mean, there should be enough freedom for entertainment. And whether you believe in something or not, it is always up to you. Should never be forced.

@ Frantz I understand where u coming from...and I agree...but be prepared to be speechless...cause the religious will complain!.....but I doubt it will really hurt the movie....hopefully it might even boost ticket sales...controversy sells!.....i am also not sure just how major this outcry will be.....perhaps very minor...time will tell? Remember "The Golden Compass".....omg what was all the fuss about.....ridiculous....i was left speechless! I consider myself as an agnostic....i have my very own spiritual beliefs....how accurate they are....I don't actually even care.....but I am in no hurry to find out what lies ahead when i eventually perish...lol

@juxtapose Well, The golden compass was one of those movies where me and my friend wasted two hours of our life ^^ It was just not convincing and the hidden father agenda is so old since Star Wars episode IV. Also, if the dark forces could slip into the human world, i would say they will be annihalited by the more advanced human military tech LOL.

@ CBT1979 I thought he golden compass was good....but not great...I only used it as an example cause of all the religious controversy it generated...i don't really give a shit about Star Wars....not even the originals did much for me....mild entertainment at best....so i never made the hidden father connection....Star wars was the furthest thing from my mind when i watched "the Golden Compass"!

I can remember when they burnt the space jockey mock up outside the Egyptian theatre in 79. Its unbelievably narrow minded in this day an age and the massive amount of anti religious films that have been since the exorcist came out. Really 2001 had all kinds of religious Connotations behind it but i don't remember a scandal back then, then again fanatics of all denominations will use any excuse to spout their religious dogma and crazy ideology.

Yes there's a few mentions of this on the original alien extras dvd and the anthology i can't remember weather it was burnt in its entirety or not or if it was heavily vandalised but there are mentions of it and discussions about it on the dvd extras.

I did a search for Prometheus Movie whilst bored a work today. Stumbled across several pages with the God squad already bashing the ideas in Prometheus. They speak of how this sort of thing puts false ideas in people's heads that we were created by another alien race and not by 'God'.
