NineteenHundredPrometheus ForumVickers is hiding.
Yeah that whole "naked push-ups" thing was kind of a joke from Damon Lindelof and Charlize Theron. But yeah you're right she looks like she's hiding or crawling somewhere with a very angry expression. Oh and she's not even naked anyway she's got a 'boob tube' thing on.

Never thought of it like that, but I think you might be right!

I'd go with the push ups. Here description of herself in the interview casts her as a fairly driven company woman. Push-ups are a daily routine for her. Also she does not look scared.

Awesome, loving it. But I left a comment there that it would be only ever so slightly even better if there was just a split-second clip of the 'derelict" spacecraft. No "derelict" presently.

Nice one Theus. You can see clearly the large planet they are next two on the lift off scene. Similar maybe to the one on the left of the Megellan at the beginning of the Prometheus trailer.

Seems likely that this is the man playing the Giant Bald Humanoid in the trailer. Profile seems to match.

with heavy prosthetics can be everyone ... can be another actor heavily mutated so there is no more need to use him ( maybe because not tall enough ) ..they will surely not rely on him for deep acting ...i mean if is that actor or another what change ? are just bodies for makeups . btw Theus ty for your news !!

Your welcome Frantz. Everybody seems to be missing the important bit - there will be multiple engineers!!!
Reply
TheuspromPrometheus ForumMore "Engineer" info (possible spoilers ahoy)
Well I suppose multiple could be classed as two, but I would call that a couple. And this is the third or fourth actor to play an engineer. Darwin Shaw Mathew Rook Ian Whyte Phil Martin Have all released statements saying they are playing "Engineers" in Prometheus.

Darwin Shaw and Mathew Rook, are playing the two roles I mentioned. Ian Whyte (didn't he play Predators in AVP and AVPR) and Phil Martin, thats fresh news to me. Edit - Seems Ian Whyte may be playing an engineer.

@Snork You can check Phill Martin out here. The guy is fucking huge; another standing at 7'1". My Guess: Martin and Whyte will be in large animatronic suits playing the SJ's/engineers. The suits open, then Shaw and Rook pop out and play the SJ's in their fleshy form.

I did read somewhere they are going to use the same effects as the LOTR movies with the hobbits, but in reverse, to make the SJ look bigger. And Snorkle, the original post was about Ian Whyte playing an engineer and yes he did do work on AVP.

Well this clears up what we thought we knew on this site that is the jockeys are large humanoids and the jockey on the derelict is in a suit. Good work we're getting there.

TheuspromPrometheus ForumThe Tall Guy?
That aint a skull, it's an exoskeleton helmet.(just like the creature from A L I E N was a suit) IMHO the tall guy is one of the engineers, he is unworldy, tall and if you look closely biomechanical.

GavinPrometheus ForumThe Tall Guy?
Sorry Theusprom this is a skull... ...And this is the exoskelton helmet... They clearly are not the same!

They are, imo. The one from the trailer has had the trunk removed.

GavinPrometheus ForumThe Tall Guy?
Look closely at the skull, it clearly has suture lines, spotted by many of us. Regardless, the point of this thread is to air another possibility for the tall guy being a guide made in our ultimate image by the Space Jockey's to communicate with us, think Keanu Reeves character in The Day The Earth Stood Still.

TheuspromPrometheus ForumThe Tall Guy?
Ok, you may be right about it being a skull now you mention suture lines. This would mean another race because it doesn't match the tall guys face.

GavinPrometheus ForumThe Tall Guy?
Exactly, BTW welcome back Theusprom (not seen you in a while). Think of it this way... Space Jockey's leave something behind on Earth that leads us to this distant world (which we all assume is LV-426). Upon landing the crew discover a temple (there is a thread about this in the Prometheus Discussion section) and beneath that temple the crew come across the ampule room with the big head icon. The big head icon bears a striking resemblance to our tall guy (check how the nose meets the brow, and the fact they are both devoid of hair). Which leads me to believe this is what we are destined to evolve into. So as a means to communicate there position, history, warnings or whatever the Space Jockeys use this guy as a messenger, a go between, between them and us.

I think the head on the scanner is a helmet. If the suit is biomechanical it still has a organic features which could explain the sutures, and the reason they are scanning it. I think this helmet design was a compromise between something that could look Jockey like, yet actually be a helmet. Some designer was in charge of turning the Jockey head into a helmet and this is what he came up with. Definately not a perfect match, but it gets the point across. I'm just not buying that the reason for the head being detached from the body is due to decapitation.
Reply
GavinPrometheus ForumThe Tall Guy?
No one knows for sure that the head was decapitated. The Jockey may have died by some other means, and when the his body decomposed the skull separated from the rest of the body, that was held within the suit.
No one knows for sure that the head was decapitated. The Jockey may have died by some other means, and when the his body decomposed the skull separated from the rest of the body, that was held within the suit.
True, but then I would expect to see the rest of the corpse in a similiar set of disarray. The image (to me) just has the looks like the being came into the room, took off his helmet and set it down on the ground, removed the rest of the suit (or crawled out of it), and tossed it off to the side. It would be pretty fun to take some of these simple questions (Head on scanner is skull or helmet), and turn them into a poll. See how many people were right/wrong once the movie is out.
Reply
GavinPrometheus ForumThe Tall Guy?
Not sure about the poll idea. Like us all I am just trying to figure out what I can about Prometheus from the little snippets of information we have. However I am trying my utmost to remain objective, grounded and stick to provable facts. Theres a lot of theories out there, and quite a few of those theories really are "out there".

I love it! I think it is more plausible than what everyone else has said because that Helmet doesn't quite ring right unless you have something there... And The Jockey just flat out seems way way bigger.

DinosaurRaghhhPrometheus ForumThe Tall Guy?
How about the alien DNA of the jockey ? engineer or that which they have artificially created interacts with hoste organism in the same way to the xenormorth embryo? Thus the 'Tall Man' is part Engineer / part human? This could then lend to the skull or helmet being either one or the other as it could explain why the 'Tall man' has a more humaoid appearance than we are expecting from the fossilised figure in the original film ........ There could be something daft like a pet spider or lizard on board which creates the xenormorth lols.......

This is a viable theory Snork. Just consider it from a purely economical view. If the big dude is indeed the jockey it seems odd that FOX would let him out in the first trailer to be released knowing there would be much scrutiny. The theory also lends weight to another idea broached by Spartacus here that the jockey on the derelict is in fact a renegade. So if he is an ambassador or time thing similar to the real gods (not yet seen) and if that is him in the wheel chair it could be he ignores the gods wishes to destroy all humans and crashes his ship, egg loaded and bound for earth, deliberately

RuthPrometheus ForumShaw and Holloway - parents to the alien race??? Let's hope not.
I hate the idea of pregnancy/etc. and I hope we won't see this in the film, it'd ruin everything for me. And if it turns out, that the story can't avoid that pregnancy thing, I'd be more happy to see that she gets pregnant after some experiment failure (like you said) but not after holloway/shit.

is that Rapace screaming "please"....i cannot really make out cause her face is all contorted up in pain....might it be that other female....not Vickers or Shaw but the third one in the cast? Anyway if one of them gives birth to anything then I won't be disappointed in the least bit....cannot see how that would ruin it for anyone?...we so used to seeing chestbursters exploding out of someone's chest....actually giving birth to something alien would be refreshing...IMO?

Maybe, but the whole sex&Holloway thing is not appealing at all. But hosting some sort of life form after failed experiment would look pretty much cool to me.
