Thanks man! this is fucking awesome!!!!

Okay my first thought after seeing it is that definitely looks like an alien head to me and not an egg.

i am now watching it on a 47" LG LCD and I'm still in shock at how absolutely gorgeous this thing looks, and how even better than THAT it sounds!!! Mr. Scott is going back to he top of the Director's Heap like a Bullet after this one !!! Can't wait now to see what he's doing with Blade Runner !!! Actually I can, I wanna enjoy this for the next 6-7 months or at least through the DVD's release of it before I get into all that! But seriously folks this thing, YOU CAN TELL just from the whole trailer campaign thingy they did, This is going to be a total "Cut Above" !!! A Must See In 3D and then @Home... alone...or not... in your Living room for years and years after, Just like a "2001: A Space Odyssey" type film !!!

Looks like David is the one seated at the head of the table as the alien head moves toward him. Vickers looks on authoritatively in silhouette. David definitely gives off a doctor vibe in that scene and his assistants look so confused as to what to do. This scene shows the hierarchy of power pretty good. I can't tell though is the assistant Shaw?

well I decided screw that and downloaded it....actually ended up being a very small download and i just watched it like 5 times in a row....loving it!....always loved the score and the mystery of it all...(meaning the plot)....this is a teaser right?...I mean will their be other longer trailers closer to release....5 and a half months ....omg it's gonna feel like a lifetime!

Also the woman falling to her knees, her back and legs are very bloody, Looks like wounds.

There is a bald guy who turns to look as the space jockey chair rises! Are his proportions right? He seems a bit big.

Is'nt this the same trailer we've already seen,only cleaned up a bit? I must admit,Im a little dissappointed. I was expecting a bit more from this 'official' trailer

That moment where the Space Jockey Chair is rising looks awesome I want more of it, and I guess we are even going to see it "IN OPERATION" which just the thought of is a Mind Blowing Kind Of Wonderful to me.

@ Thadus12 No I was'nt expecting anything new....just enhanced audio and visual quality....I am not really disappointed...but at the same time I feel that the earlier leaked versions of the trailer did spoil things for me a little...their was no surprises with the official trailer (not that i was expecting any?).....but it does look and sound awesome!

Benefits so much from proper resolution (although optimum HD still to come), and the sound... things you didn't notice before like the reverb and that sinister bass tone before the repetitive note motif starts. Going through it a frame at a time on GOM (my multimedia player of choice) it seems obvious that those orbs we glimpse are probes, emitting red scanning beams and checking out our protagonists. The interiors of the vehicle that we see Shaw driving are pretty gorgeous, like something out of Thunderbirds! Speculation about most of the crew becoming infected by the alien DNA/whatever seem reasonable - in the shot of Theron dropping to her knees the three crewmembers in the background are in bed gowns and one is in a wheelchair. One thing I was hoping for was something interesting in those frames of video static that flash between the credits at the end. It's completely indeterminate and this is probably overkill, but this one frame has a curious shape in it, centre-left, bottom half. I wonder if these glimpses will become more revealing with later trailers. All in all no big revelations but it's good to get a closer look and fuel the addiction...

@ spartacus But that women looks like she is brunet...not blond like Vickers...but it could just be the lighting as well i suppose?

It also looks to me like that guy might not be standing on the platform but next to it which would make him extremely tall. Remember Dallas, Kane and Lambert had to climb that thing.

@ juxtapose, yeah I agree, the leaked trailer has spoilt it for me a little,otherwise it would've still had its wow factor That 'humanoid' stood,as the jockey chair raises has me very worried tho lol

I have just watched it 5 times, twice using VLC to slow it down. So much happening, so much to expect, so so so much. OMG, OMG, OMG.. I need to go clean myself up now!!

@ juxtapose, it could be, but it looks like she's also wearing the same go-go girl bra/mini-skirt combo that Theron has in the push-up shot.

So this guy is the engineer and the big head okay but is the engineer the spacejockey cause it looks like that is what is going on. He should get triple pay for his role.

...i see that big dude now...looks like a steroid junkie....from what i can c his head seems not at all out of proportion.....but is that the actual SJ?....i think I am just gonna try and forget that this movie is even connected to the alien franchise.....it is a completely separate story that merely takes place in the same universe/planet....period....sure i will be glued to the screen.....will just have to enjoy it for what it is....whatever that might be!

The big dude is the jockey. He gets into the suit and can control the ship from it. What they have found is an advanced form of human with exceptional powers. It is said God created man in his own image. In this case the jockey is our God.

I just flashed on wizard of oz. What if the crew go to this planet expecting to meet God and what we find is disappointing. We find this engineer who is a selfish and fallible humanoid who played around with genetics and accidentally created us. He doesn't have any answers and makes lots of mistakes and wants us to worship him.

Giant head space engineer jockey!

based on all the conjecture so far I'd guess he's a representative of the alien race that sets all the film's events in motion. And based on the recent Scott interviews, it wouldn't surprise me if the character design had been somehow influenced by the popular recurring images of alleged alien sightings and abductions... the grey, or the one whose name I forget that is supposed to be just an unusually tall homo sapiens-esque figure..

A grey, I hope not. A mutated human, a lot of people seem to be heading to that conclusion, but personally I hope not. The Engineer, unsure about that one... We know the cast lists a few "engineers", but are these engineers that are members of the crew (a la Parker and Brett) or a reference to the Space Jockey's or something else. We don't really know. One thing is for sure, this mystery figure also seems to be present in the same room when the star map is being displayed...

Wasn't it an engineer and and elder engineer or something. I always thought it was the same thing but different ages. Maybe the mutated guy is playing the engineer and then some other actor or puppeteer fits in a suit to play the elder engineer (space jockey).

i really hope it's just paraeidolia. the space jockey suit looks way too cool for the wearer to end up looking like some tall bald guy.

I for one am really concerend about the space jockey situation. The whole "suit" business concerns me. I dont want an independence day, human dude inside an exo-skeleton suit. I wanted the Jockey from alien to be a skeleton, to be fossilised. I wanted to see the Jockeys, like from Alien, but with Flesh. The whole "grey" human in a suit situation really pisses me off.

I can see the possible mysterious figure, but if you look at the thread 'Space Jockey Secrets' the last picture shows a light source where the mysterious figure is in the other pictures, so it could just be part of the cave, a decoration, a light set up by humans, a projector?? Also if you trace the body it is actually the pattern of the wall that could be an arm; so it is just a head - I can see it, but I think it could very easily be wishful thinking. If the head is the same in the map shot and shot with the chair then he isn't very animated ...........

@snorkle oh... I had just assumed that was one of the astronauts... but you're right! was thinking in 'Alien' mode, i.e. they stumbled upon this thing and accidentally activated it. For some reason my mind's eye had pictured other crew members looking on in the foreground... derp

I too am a little worried about this "Tall Human" idea, and I agree it does seem that the figure doesn't move much, but from what i recall the footage was panning slowly from left to right... maybe it pans around the room as the star map is displayed, disappears and then as the Space Jockey chair rises into place. But yeah, this figure is too human for my liking.

i remember seeing the trailer for that movie from "M Night Shamalang"...(have no idea of the spelling)...It was called "The Village"..could not wait to go see it!...and then when I did eventually go and see it....the beast werewolf looking monstrosity turned out to be a retard in a f#cking suit!......OMG! i was so disappointed.....i hope Prometheus is not gonna do the same shit!

To me...the figure just looks like one of the Prometheus crew. Even the glow emitting from the head area appears to be a helmet lamp. Yes...no...maybe? ~N

I don't understand why many seem so bothered by the notion of the main antagonists being humanoid... I think there is still going to be plenty of room in this movie for all the body-horror elements of 'Alien' that people love, but conceptually it's shaping up to be much more expansive and interesting than anything the franchise-oriented studio hacks could fart out. It's early days and could go in any number of directions - I say bring it on.

As always time will tell, but Neurion the figure looks too tall to be one of the crew and I don't see the hint of a helmet, which has amber lights inside, and I see no hint of amber on that guys chin and neck.
