Early androids were metrosexual? I prefer the crazy Ash versions.

I never liked LOST and i love ALIEN ... Lost did raise many questions that were functional to the story ( and never solved them ... ) , so is the classic product for geeks ( just like inception ) . In Alien what is not told is the "background " of the story but the plot leave not answers untold . Of course geeks can arrive and start questioning about every aspect but that is a thing tha tis surfaced more "thanks" (sic ) to the sequels not by Alien itself .
regarding the alien message is a bit difficult that a human crew know how to send an alien warning signal with an alien trasmitting machine but of course everything is possibile .

@Carter J & Frantz
...or maybe....
The the crew becomes infected...or comprimised by alien DNA...and while metamorphising into some"thing" else...is able to get a message off to any one listening. Maybe it's Elizabeth Shaw or one of the other's transforming extraterrestrial voice we end up hearing in the 2003 special edition of ALIEN. Could be...right? or wrong? Cool idea Carter J.

@Carter J Burke I'm not sure what to think of that really. I've never watched Lost, but what I do know is that it added lots of mystery episode, by episode and then as Frantz rightly pointed out: it never produced a proper conclusion, it just sort of copped out.
In terms of Prometheus, my concern would be as follows: lots of questions asked, but continuity lost with the original A L I E N.
I know the whole prequel; to be or not to be arguement has been going on since this film was announced (and to be honest I think it was just to disassociate Prometheus from Alien 3, 4, AVP & AVPR, which is totally understandable) but I'd like to see a "connecting vein" as Fassbender has stated in an interview.

Dallas: As most of you may know, we're not home yet. We're only halfway there. Mother's interrupted our journey for she's programed to do so unless things change. Things have changed. It seems that she has... intercepted a transmission of unknown origin. She got us up to check it out.
Ripley: A transmission? Out here in remote space?
Lambert: What kind of a transmission?
Dallas: Acoustical beacon. It, uh... repeats at intervals of 12 seconds.
Kane: S.O.S.?
Dallas: I don't know.
Ripley: Human?
Dallas: Unknown.
Later on...
Ripley: Ash, that transmission... Mother's deciphered part of it. It doesn't look like an S.O.S.
Ash: What is it, then?
Ripley: Well, I... it looks like a warning. I'm gonna go out after them.
Ash: What's the point? I mean by the, the time it takes to get there, you'll... they'll know if it's a warning or not, yes?
I lean toward believing it was human because without a key or some kind of Rosetta stone it would be hard for even mother to decipher. Could very well be encrypted for privacy. Ever listen to time code? it sounds strange too if you don't know what it is.
Bottom line is it could go either way. The company is full of lies and deceit so who knows what was going on.

Hey that was a good explanation. I remember in the Godfather I think it was someone says "I was making my bones before you were born" or something like that. I thought it was gathering respect but now since you said that maybe it meant money too.
Lets make no bones about it.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumMy Take on PrometheusDec 16, 2011
wow, great observation, I really always thought he said "Bones" and it was some "British Thing" 'cause Ridley was British if I understood that correctly.
Hahaha!
Those we're good quotes man.

There are so many little things like that one, especially with a new movie coming out like Prometheus that takes place 3 decades before Ripley is born and to find in the Alien film, the first one I mean.

Ha I get a lot of things wrong and I love them even more when they turn out humorous. Hey look at us getting along Spartacus. It's a Kodak moment : )

@ Sparts My cat would love that
The thing about space travel that bothers me about Alien is that Fuel would be precious and calculated to the reticule mile so numbers is also money. Nostromo makes a course correction without notifying the human crew in charge of bringing back the Money Bags. I can't help feel suspicious. Obviously, the crew ain't in charge. Now advancements in space travel thirty years in the future might get you to the point now that you got from thirty years travelling in an older technology so....David Lindelof says that Prometheus is the movie that Alien fans will want to see, cause he is also a fan. I hope he is right and doesn't do anything ridiculous like giving the old Spock wood on a ice planet to make fire.

"The crew of the Prometheus (the ship’s name designed to echo the Greek myth) follow a perplexing message to a planet that will open their eyes and their chests to a new alien race. "- Hmmm...interesting...

Hi Frantz,
I think that the article was referring to the LV-426/Planetoid that was created for the original ALIEN film...I think.

in an interview today Noomi hinted at a possibility of a sequel ..
And Digital Spy asked Rapace if she believes there's enough for Prometheus to have any sequels, to which she replies coyly:
"Yeah... maybe"
Remember that FOX usaully planned a movie to reboot tha alien franchise directed by Carl Rinsch ... before of course they rerouted over Scott ....then with Spaihts they planned to make 2 Prequels ...and we still dont know if they have abbandoned the idea .

ReplyMr.JPrometheus ForumRidley Scott interviewDec 16, 2011
Frantz: You know FOX will make a sequel pending on how much money they line their pockets with the income....if it is a success, then they will though I wonder if Scott will pursue or leave it like Cameron departed Terminator 2? Also, Scott is up there in age but still looks strong....
The marketing on this movie will be viral as we approach June...start small and then ramp it up and make people get wet at the lips...

Dude...that was some funny shite! I guess that's what I get for using GOOGLE Translate. "Frantz" had mad a joke about his post's being translated into nonsensical english, and said "damned English"...then as an attempt at humor...I attempted to respond with a joke...first in French...then in Italian. G-d only knows...what it ended up as...
I'd probably have better luck...if I just sent an acousical beacon...repeating at intervals of 12 seconds. Haha...corny again...Geez, this isn't my day...I swear....

someone have said that the nostromo was a cargo and so they werent suppose to make a great use of spacesuits ... while here we have a scientists crew with top tier equipment ...plus maybe the nostromo suits were made for void space ( reparations around the ship while travelling )
ReplyMentosPrometheus ForumOn ALIEN and PROMETHEUS Fashion: Sleek and Sexy vs. Traditional and Cumbersome SDec 16, 2011
I've read a post (citation unavailable) either on this website, AVP Galaxy or the Prometheus page on IMDB. It pretty much stated that:
"Nostromo was a mining rig; the crew's space suits were designed to be hard wearing when facing up to adverse mining conditions in space.
And to be honest I agree.
In terms of the suits in Prometheus...I believe they are primarily designed to incorporate maneuverability. For example imagine the crew attempting to perform laboratory standard bench tests in space. They are scientists after all!
ReplyNeurionPrometheus ForumOn ALIEN and PROMETHEUS Fashion: Sleek and Sexy vs. Traditional and Cumbersome SDec 16, 2011
@Frantz...I can buy that!
Personally, I think the filmmakers just want the characters to look more attractive...for our 2012 hyper-health and appearance conscious society. Especially for the actors and actresses who have athletic or sexy physiques...like Theron, Repace, Fassbender, and Elba. Which, I don’t really care…as long as there is some logical reasoning behind it.
I’m just concerned…and hope that they didn’t go all George Lucas on the technology. Like in STAR WARS episode I, the technology looks more advanced than in Episode VI. This is always a challenge when making prequels…because of the ever growing sophistication of the audience. However, it should still be addressed.
Peace,
~N

There has to be a logical reason for it... I do not think in any way that this would escape Scott's or even Giger's thinking and/or evaluation and they both would have "prolly" said something too if there wasn't a real good perfectly logical reason why them new suits work In their opinions. I just can't think of one like the rest of you.

IMO the Prometheus crew are going to have access to state of the art equipment, comparing the Nostromo to Promoetheus is like comparing a Ford to a Ferrari

Possibly, although the Space Shuttle Atlantis which had it's last flight in July of this year was used for over 30 years and 135 missions. Also look at a lot of the cars on the road; new ones and some over 30 years old. The Nostromo is more than likely an old freight ship which has out dated equipment; a mining team wouldn't look as technologically advanced to a group of pioneering scientists with the full backing and high budget of the company. A scientific mission to meet the possible creators of life on Earth would probably justify building a brand new ship and to have all of the best gadgets.
