I agree, but no where, in any of the 4 films, but especially in the first one when it could have been of massive benefit to Ripley in saving her own life, do we ever see it used. This is why for me it is highly suspect. Also, by the time the events in the 4th film roll around, we still aren't seeing it. In the 2nd film, Ripley has been adrift for "57 years". If time travel were even possible, as soon as Van Louin began to slam her in the boardroom she would have been asking everyone, pleading with everyone, screaming at everyone not to listen to her and what she was saying about Cain but rather to go back in time so they could see what she was talking about and why she destroyed their "expensive" freighter.

There's one other thing I left out that I clearly remember hearing and which was being attributed to Sigourney Weaver herself for many years. Apparently after Junet ended Resurrection the way he did she made it clear that she would never take part in any other Alien franchise related film unless the idea of the Aliens ever reaching earth was abandoned. She reasoned that everything the character she was playing stood for was about preventing the Big Bad Company from mechanising any potential weapon from the Xenomorphs. She will have No Part in any film depicting them on Earth.

also, I strayed myself away form the original idea here presented by "Ra_Quami" which is in fact fantastic IMO....and which is that.... "The Growers" may have the ability to time travel and that is 100% possible, and man I would love to see it, but it would require a lot of money for some special effects shots that aren't that too essential it seems to the plot. But the idea of the ALIENS having this technology, or even the XENOMORPHS themselves is terrifying and brilliant all at the same time. That is a brillinat idea "Ra_Quami" !!!

Or... the scene with the derelict ship crashing happens millions of years in the past and it is only a flashback to explain the chronological order of events in a short timeline. (Or here is a completely insane idea, what if there is more than one space jockey ship? You know like how us humans don't build just one 747) Why do people come up with ideas like this? Time travel? If that was the case they could do a better calculation in time jumpin, get that bitch up to 88mph, barrel down on that clock tower and keep the AVP films from being made... I'm a huge fan of the Alien franchise, but why some fanboys get extravagant ideas about "what might happen" in the film is beyond me. My guess is... YOU WON'T KNOW TILL THE FILM COMES OUT!!! It really won't kill you to wait till summer. Did you see those fireballs shooting down from the sky? What if Ryu from Street Fighter is in this film...? (read my blog to find out why this is probably true) /rant

Looks like the "pure" xeno extending it's inner jaw. I mean that's what I see; a smooth head without the tattered spaghetti-string-slimy mandible of the xenos as we know them... I also see what looks like a "back-tube" on either side of it's shiny white head.

This is real cool that you got this footage Mentos! I would say that this is some type of Xeno as well. But you never know someone on one of the discussions said that he has a friend that works on the set of this movie and he asked his friend after having a few drinks what's the deal with Prometheus and the guy said that think of it like The Thing in space. So who knows!

James Newton Howard -- the dude has done countless scores with all kinds of themes. It's why Hans Zimmer called him up to help him compose the Batman scores.

My wish list: Hans Zimmer + Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross I know that's probably too many cooks in the kitchen, but that would be awesome.

I like Zimmer a lot I particularly LOVED the score he did for "Black Rain". The sound score for the film was absolutely excellent.

Maybe the ampule room in the pics is the human DNA with the face of a man and somewhere in another room there is the DNA for the Xeno with the face we all know. Just something to think about IDK...

Glad to see some fellow toy collector's on the board! Its true that the figures will be expensive. I estimate at least $160 USD, but anywhere as high as $270 USD depending on the size of the figure. I can say that most of the time they ARE worth the retail value, but i can see why $160 toys can be out of people's budget. I for one am very excited at the possibility of having a high-end Spacey Jockey figure.

Brilliant stuff there Spartacus. Did I not read somewhere that Theron will be a plastic. I agree that Scott wont want to go over old hat. If he is wise, which he is, he will stay away from the later movies and bring in something totally original. Wouldn't surprise me if one of the plastics is the lone survivor but broken or modified in some way by the events. Consider this. Where does WYC get the knowledge of the derelict ship from in Alien. Why send an android? I've often thought that the technology behind Ash to be far superior to the rest of the tech on the Nostormo. Parker used wrenches to fix pipes. Maybe Ash's technology was based on what returns to earth from Prometheus. Maybe Ash is hidden aboard Prometheus?

Check this out...The thinking does not stop.... I got "antsy", and went back and called up the PDF on my desktop of the Spaiths script and On the first Page something else hit me like a ton of bricks, don't know how I missed it's importance... There are 2 Human Beings on the planet on which The Growers {Space Jockey's} are over seeing the entire harvest operation right from the get go. "Fin" & "Karik", who's job it is, to squeeze out as many bushels of Crop as possible from each acre of land. I believe Fin even goes on to tell Karik or vice versa that he hasn't been allowed to go anywhere for the "past 8 or 9 years". Which means already we know, if they did not cut out that very first scene Spaiths wrote, that "The Origins Of Life On Earth Issue" involves as part of it's message, that we did not originate on Earth itself or were kidnapped from earth to be slaves on another world by another race of beings...perhaps even the Growers themselves. Human beings are being used as slaves {and probably have been in the "Alien Universe" for a long long long long long time} is what the Prometheus crew more than likely discovers. That's my speculation anyways and I am sticking to it. And speculating even further, the "Accident" that more than likely leads to that "Final Terrifying Conflict" is going to be a Human Being accidently releasing or opening the hole/and/or container that allows the very first XENOMORPHS to collide with our/their worlds.

and taking it even further to prove it's plausibility...right to the end of the timeline in fact... It also fits with how "The Betty's" Crew...comes to discover that the "Auriga" which they have boarded illegally has also been engaging itself in a severely illegal activity... ...The smuggling of Human Hosts for Alien Harvesting. ...and you can therefore assume some of the Slaves to the Growers may have fell victim to such a fate...

@RHunter I think you got a kickass story there, I'd pay to see that flick. A lot of wild imagination goin' on there. And although I generally don't have much of an appetite for the blasphemous nature of un-deifying traditional understandings of mankind’s origins, I think you handled it well. It never ceases to astound me, how in our world, in which approximately 97.5% of it’s population claims to believe in some kind of god or all powerful creator…the media is ever trying to replace traditional beliefs in creation with surrogate ones. Somehow, ancient and traditional beliefs are ridiculous, primitive, unrealistic, and impossible…simply because they are ancient…or seem to be not inline with “Science”…which seems to be becoming the new god/religion. I try to be a person who is open minded enough to embrace the possibility of science and a supernatural creator coexisting in harmony, rather than pitted against each other. To me, the denial of the possibility of the truly divine…is well…not very scientific. Grand imagination is the seed science. Still, folks will look into the night sky…searching for answers, if only to settle on the stars themselves…rather than supernatural or celestial possibilities. They’ll swallow aliens over angels, and Space Jockey Engineers over a God. I related to the way Thor put it, in the recent film…when the Asgardian said: “You're ancestors called it magic, and you call it science. Well, I come from a place where they're one and the same thing."

RHunter I think you hit the nail pretty well there. Nice one. I'd pay to see that too. If you read the info released over the past six months or so I think time travel appears here and there. Why introduce this if you are not going to use it to good effect. The idea that the jockeys use time travel makes sense otherwise they would never see the fruit of their toil. I also wondered how the ancient wreck on acheron fitted into the story. Scott has admitted the last few minutes would tie into Alien. This is how its done. Wormhole. I just cant buy the giant monsters and all that it's not Scott's style. Scott did hint at a gruesome movie so I do buy the transformation of crew into some sort of mutated bio beings just dont know how he's going to pull it off without looking ridiculus. Think of the deleted scene in Alien where the crew were being transformed.

~ Neurion, I couldn't have put it better about Science and Supernatural creator coexisting. I believe the same. One shouldnt try to cancel out the other. Why can't both exist. If the Spacejockeys were it, we'd be f%#€. That's an technogically advanced insane demonic uncivilized society. If that's all the human race had to look towards as a creator, I'd sooner settle for a bullet to the head than to even think meeting the Jockeys as our Maker. Might as well end it cuz your living in hell....an't no paradise, or go hide on a distant planet and pray the Jockeys won't drop their demon eggs down on it. That's like going to hell. There might be a flip side to the movie. Maybe there's good and bad Jockeys, why would a civilization capable of creation be so demonic and ruthless. "We create you then destroy you with the utmost horror". What an oxymoron. I figure as long as you never reach a level of equality your cool with the Jockeys or don't steal any Bio technology, then you have hell to pay. ~Micro Changes in air density, I like your time travel analogy. Fruit of their toil. Unless they live for a hefty length of time they wouldn't see the outcome of their creation. The only problem I have is I can see traveling in the past but the future...I don't know. IMHO, time passed may not be lost, but the future is the unpredictable unknown. The only beings I see traveling to the future is if they already are in the past traveling to an event in the present. It's only my opinion. I'm no scientist or physicist but I just can't fathom traveling forward vs. back. I can see traveling parallel in parallel Universes in what Physicist call String Theory. A parallel universe where you took a right in lifes descisions vs. a left, so in one universe you married the prom Queen and was the next Steve Jobs vs. being kicked in the sack when you asked her out ending up spending time on the Prometheus forums talking about a movie like the rest of us...lol

My Mom in her brillance thought it was a good idea to take me to see this movie a month after my 5th birthday in August 79 at the Hickam AFB theater in Ohau, Hi. I was totally freaked out for years, I didn't want to be alone in the the dark or go upstairs by myself. When I watch the movie today it still has the spook factor. It was such a drastic change from Star Wars.

I was 5 when the movie hit theaters, not sure how old I was when it premiered on television, but my parents would not let me watch it. I was so mad that I got my brother ( 2 years younger) out of bed to sneak into our dining room and hide under the table to watch it. Scared the hell out of both of us and up to about 6 or 7 years ago anytime I would get stressed out I would have nightmares of those damn aliens.

Pretty interesting trailer huh? Although, I have to say…while watching it, I felt kind of like “Gorman” in ALIENS, watching the ambush on Acheron/LV-426 on the APC monitors. It’s pretty frustrating to watch…but better than nothing. What is apparent is to me…is that Sir Ridley seems to have imbued this film with the very artistic and visual quality that is his signature. This is just the kind of thing I was hoping for. Even with screen reflections, distortions, grain, and poor sound quality…I could still make out the grand imagery and atmosphere in this pirate trailer. And even though PROMETHEUS is probably not the obvious ALIEN prequel most of us were anticipating a couple of years ago, it looks like it’s going to be something very special, complimentary, and a worthy companion piece…to the original ALIEN masterpiece we all share a love for. Totally pumped! ~Neurion P.S. I felt a slight chill when I heard the old school music from the 1979 ALIEN trailer. Yes!

1:07 The mans neck is way larger than it should be, perhaps he is infested and being changed (I smell homage to the deleted cocoon scene in alien) I have always been terrified of things that dissolve or absorb people. *the blob, that black shit in the movie Creepshow 2* Christ even "cell" from Dragon ball z freaked the shit out of me as a kid when he did that thing with the tail. I think Ridley is going to expand on that fear, it is not a common sight.

It certainly looks impressive and appetite-whetting. Puzzled that something ostensibly legit, with the backing of a big corp like Fox, could go out with something so basic an error as using "it's" instead of "its" (as in "could be its end").

The voice-over at the start (Vickers?) is striking: I wonder if this desperate-sounding transmission might be the source for the "acoustical beacon" referred to in 'Alien'? The only excerpt we hear in that film is in a deleted scene, a whooshing, guttural unintelligible sound - possibly a time-degraded version of Vickers' warning?
