I thought I'd start a new thread that takes a closer look at the new trailer (w/screen grabs and gifs etc).
To start us off:

What the hell is this thing? To me it looks like some sort of chestburster jumping from the helmet of one of the crew, but it seems to be dark in colour and has a Xeno like tail?
Any thoughts?

MemberOvomorph11/29/2011Looks like the "pure" xeno extending it's inner jaw. I mean that's what I see; a smooth head without the tattered spaghetti-string-slimy mandible of the xenos as we know them... I also see what looks like a "back-tube" on either side of it's shiny white head.

MemberOvomorph11/29/2011This is real cool that you got this footage Mentos! I would say that this is some type of Xeno as well. But you never know someone on one of the discussions said that he has a friend that works on the set of this movie and he asked his friend after having a few drinks what's the deal with Prometheus and the guy said that think of it like The Thing in space. So who knows!

Ahh...I could see that happening (the thing) if the plot about human mutation ends up being true.

It is a Xenomorph chest bursting from within a Space Jockey from above.
& it appears to be a Queen to me.
