I don't think you were too far off with the axe blade reference above Spearfish in regards to being similar to a hit by the tail. A tough booger a neomorph seems to be.

I guess that it is just a CGI programmer (if that's the correct term?) not being familiar with physics and anatomy.  And they probably didn't count on a group of people analyzing the finer details - which is fun.  The force needed to cleanly split the mandible down the cleft in the chin would surely have just resulted in the entire mandible coming off (not splitting), or depending on where the animal was exerting force, would have separated the head from the neck.   At least that seems more plausible to me.

You are most welcome Lone.

Thank you Davefried81.

It's amazing what you find if you mash your face in something for a while. We were commenting on it earlier in the year and I was producing images in reverse value to try and find details. None were seen but I noticed the wires in the image back then.

Thank you so much for commenting Spearfish. I saw on Ati's thread where you described the neomorph exiting through flesh and that it didn't look like a product of evolution because of the inconsistencies in how it exited the host....good comment.

I agree.

The mutagen-based organisms seem to be "designed" opposed a product of natural selection. My best attempt to answer the neomorph dying from the rifle is the neomorph's inability to regenerate fast enough after each additional shot from Captain Oram.

That had been a very long day for Captain Oram and I can imagine all clips may have been used on the neomorph had it not expired when it did.

From David 8's drawings, he seems to be really interested in the shellfish double-ribbing and lateral ridges in the extremities' bones....so, the strength of the tail you mention above may be due to these design elements.

Going through the spine can't be easy but a spike-backed demon has a leg up on his smooth-back counterparts when going that route.

The jaw situation is puzzling, maybe funny, but definitely puzzling.  An injury like that is similar to what you would get from a small-mid caliber rifle impact.  Or maybe even from an axe strike.  So looking at a 4lb axe head swung at 70mph gives you ~650 foot-pounds of force at impact.  Similar to the impact force of an xm193 5.56 @ ~250yards.  Long story short, that is a hell of a hit to take in the jaw.  So we can conclude the infant neo is pretty durable to create similar instantaneous damage, especially when swimming through flesh is not an environment for high speeds...AND it was able to do so while not damaging itself!?  Impressive, but conflicts with the fact that it was pretty easy to damage (fatally) with a gunshot to the chest.  So is it durable, or not?  Going through the spine is one thing, since you could conclude it passed through a gap between vertebrae.  But cleanly and explosively through a jaw bone has me scratching my head :-). Oh, and what was it pushing/pulling against to generate this incredible force?  Equal and opposite reactions apply so that is another law physics that doesn't seem to apply here.

There is also a mindset of what "HOT" is. In Prometheus- she was not hot. In this video, she was hot. To me, there is a difference between attractiveness and being hot.

That said, time to watch Full Metal Jacket- how's that for a switch?

Agreed Tiwaz.

I wanted to read more about Engineer corporate espionage opposed to Earthly examples. That is my personal preference but not a complaint. It is still a great book so far. I'm more than half finished with the book and I do enjoy the technology descriptions.

Yes Cerulean Blue. I'm looking forward to the Engineer cultural reaction to the events on Paradise. I hope what the Engineers do in response will make the LV-223 Engineer look like a camp counselor.

David 8 showed us what he can do with their weaponry...now I'd like to see the Engineers operate their own weapons once agitated.

SenseOfDoubt

Very many thanks for this clarification. I am on holiday currently and have lent both discs to friends who were eagerly awaiting its release.

I will check it out when it is returned to me. To be honest when you first look at the extras menu they seem very thin. How odd to sub menu them under Planet 4. I happen to believe (now I know it is included) that Advent is important and so my perception that it was excluded was a reaction to its importance. Knowing it is in the public domain suggest this is the lead into W-Y. Maybe in the mayhem on Origae 6 David tries to escape with his babies and irony of ironies being infected, in away that has yet to be explained, in an act of redemption sets off the warning beacon which W-Y "ignore" whereas Ripley does not.

If W-Y are involved in the narrative of the next movie then I suspect they are also aware of the significance of the Jockey and its Cargo before boarding Ash on the Nostromo that of course has implications to the canon and aliens but to make the events of A L I E N and the prequels from W-Y POV coincidental after Advent seems highly unlikely.

It also opens the idea that the Jockey is a new entrant character from W -Y.

Thanks again, much appreciate your clarification.

Well, David is not perfect & he knows it, but he is driven by the perfection of the Xenomorph & will stop at nothing to achieve his goal of perfecting it.  I suppose he is doing it for his dead god, Peter Weyland?  I read a lot of Nietzsche, Kant, Rousseau, Machiavelli, Plato, etc back in college 1989-1991 Political Science.  I have forgotten more than I can remember, but Nietzsche is a good one for ol' David the 'Super Boy' android!  Take it away Big Dave!!!

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumIt was Walter NOT David

Well its either a lack of thought by RS etc to make such a oversight, that would not add up to latter... i.e his Speech Malfunction... or a clever piece added so that it gives a bit of AMBIGUITY so we may Question is this David or Walter?  So it does give some debate.

But RS had confirmed as Svanya said that it is David.

"Sadly, I neither hear nor see any evidence of Walter appearing again at this point. I really hope to be wrong"

The only Clue i have DK is from RS when he said about David is off to the Planet... we can only assume Origae-6 (could instead be LV-426/LV-223) but i assume Origae-6 and he speaks of 3-4 Parties that would be arriving...

One of which will be the Engineers after they return to Planet 4/Paradise and find the destruction... so it Safe to Assume Engineers arrive there and find out what happens and then they go off to Find David etc.

So we have to ask if David is off to Origae-6 which is 7.5 years away from Planet 4 for the Covenant Ship.... we have to ask HOW DO THE ENGINEERS Find where David will be going?

Do they arrive and then detect the Covenant Ship well a ship, this means they arrive not far after or are able to detect a Ship and think thats got to the be the $£"%£"^£$^ lets get them... but depending when they arrive to Paradise/Planet 4 will determine how far the Covenant is away..

So if they arrive 3 years latter, the Covenant will be like 3.5 years within its journey time and looking how far that is from Paradise/Planet 4 and so it would be say XXXX Light years away.. lets say 100LY then how many other Human ships could be within 100LY too and so how would the Engineers know which Human Ship within XXXX distance is the one responsible?

Did David leave clues to Origae-6 on Planet 4?  What can the Engineers Salvage?

And it cant be the Engineers arrive earlier where the Covenant has to be the only ship close by, because surely the Engineers would intercept the Covenant in Space and that Ends Davids plans..

Nope... David has to arrive or be very close to his destination by the time the Engineers arrive on Paradise/Planet 4

And so we have to ask how do the Engineers know to go to Origae-6? or that David would be there.

The only LOGICAL Answer i have is via Walter. ;)

i like the effort put into it, i think the whole Neomorph idea could have been done better, and these Fungi that are then housing like Nano Tadpole like Bubble/Cells with tiny Worms inside (instead of Tadpoles)  would have been interesting.

Thanks for the Share...

The Juggernaught interior looks more like the Derelict in parts...

Also seems to show what could be Eggs growing too...  Maybe the Eggs are like Cabbages after all ;)   Actually my Cabbage Patch post from a while back could be the way to explore the Xenomorph.

RS did say the Killed Xenomorph would have Regenerated.. which is a bit pants... but having a Dead Xenomorphs Body dissolve into a pile or Matter which then New Eggs Grow from is a Route i would have taken if i was on board the TEAM working with RS.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumThe Anus-Mouth and Other Official Alien Covenant Concept Art Images by Stephane Levallois

If i was brought on board during the writing of AC, i  would have explored ONE Neomorph but i would have suggested either the Spores... or even introduce a Black Goo infection, upon a Pregnant Female Colonist..

Where we then see the Spore/Black Goo infects the Females Unborn Fetus, and then have it become a hybrid and rabidly grow and give us the Expanded Pregnant Belly Burster that leads to the Baby Head design.

I feel this would make more sense than Spore infection in AC and the whole concept of a Colony Mission of Couples who end up on this World, thinking they have found a better place then their Original Destination but then get infected would have been much more Gruesome.

The notion that a Couple expected to awake at Origae-6 set up a Colony and their Child to be the First Born on this NEW Home..

Instead they end up on Paradise, infected and the Horror when the Pregnancy all of a sudden seems to have gone from 3 Months to 9 Months within hours, and then a Baby Head Burst out of the Belly.

This would have been EPIC...

Even more so if it was a Shower Scene too ;)

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumThe Anus-Mouth and Other Official Alien Covenant Concept Art Images by Stephane Levallois

I appears this person did design the Neomorph, or at least had been given some ideas and reference point by RS etc and then was asked to come up with something and this is what Stephane came up with

The First design is kind of very much like the Deacon, which we can logically see as the Black Goo is related to Deacon DNA.

As far as the other designs a lot of it is based off unused Prometheus concepts, such as the Baby Head Fifield, and the Mouth Burster is similar to the kind of thing that was Bursting out of Holloway in the Concepts for Alien Engineers.

As for the Back Burster... yet coming out of the Back makes less Sense, but we need to REMEMBER that RS wanted to do something different and offer something different yet  more disturbing to a Chest Buster which we have all seen before.

The whole IDEA behind the Neomorphs was Flawed, unless they have some kind of method  to explain why only ONE is Grown.. now with Sperm... once a Egg Cell is Fertilized the outside of the Cell Changes and it can not be fertilized by more Sperm Cells.

Sperm needs a Egg... but in the case of the Spores, they never looked at what does this need, it just appears to be that it just needs to attach inside the Host and it will grow.

So the only logical explanation is the Spore Motes will form together in a certain random place, and then then attach to each other and grow, taking elements from the Hosts DNA/Body in order to do this.

So that what we have is Spore Infections where if say 10 people was infected, then not all of them would have Back Bursters, we could have Front Ribcage Bursters, Ass Bursters lol... i guess its what route the Spores take inside the Body...

Maybe Time plays a Roll, in that after the Spores are released there is a period where they then start to grow and so depending where it enters the Body, will effect where it grows...

It would be like say if you Entered a Maze and after 5 Minutes where ever you are is where you set up Camp.... and so if the Maze has 4 Entrances then it depends which entrance as to how far you get inside the Maze before this 5 Minutes.

"Their waiting for Mother"

People took this as being Ambiguous, could it mean MUTHUR as in David and W-Y are in cahoots or at least David and AI behind the Machines are, and have set all this up so that MUTHUR can bring Hosts to where David is...

I cant see it being anything to do with Dr Shaw...

The way i see it is Davids comments are merely regarding a HOST... a Human Embryo is what Evolves from a Fertilized Egg Cell, it evolves into a Embryo that REQUIRES a Mothers Womb to allow it to grow and then for the MOTHER to give Birth.

It appears those Eggs are the most advanced form of Davids Projects however, he simply has No HOSTS left to test it on.... so those Eggs are awaiting in that Catacomb for a Host, which is why David transmitted the Dr Shaw feed to TRAP Eventually a Human Ship to come and explore the Signal.

So these Eggs, which have Face Huggers require a Mother to incubate its Embryo and thus i feel the Waiting for Mother is just that the Face Hugger Xeno Embryos require a Host to Gestate and grow and then give Birth to the Xenomorph.

"I've reached 80 and I'm asking the bigger questions all humanity does at this/some stage in our journey through life, the 'What comes next?!' questions.". Which now has been placed into the universe of Alien, awkwardly and inappropriately insofar as the cannon of this series."

I do think this is something that put some off, and the Philosophy etc is something that interested others, its a BOLD Plot to incorporate the Space Jockey Race with Gods and Creation.

But i dont think the plans was to be going too Biblical Literal here... the Bible/Quran and Torah are not the only Religion or Mythos based on GOD and Gods.... there are many.   and as far as Literal LIFE and GOD we have in General these TWO Answers.

1) There is a GOD, or a Place where our Souls go to when we die, and GOD in this sense is a Divine and Powerful somewhat Magical Entity.

2) Life just Evolved from a Event from the Ancient Past, the Big Bang and we have no SOUL we are a part of Evolution, we are Born and we Die and that is it.

So here you kind of have the Dr Shaw/Dr Holloway Flip-side.

What these Dr's both agree on and what their findings are showing is a 3RD Outcome.

3) That we are Created as is most life by a Ancient Alien Race, that have interacted with us and who we persevered as GODs and where all our GOD Mythos came from...    This backs up Holloways Ideas, but for Dr Shaw she ponders if these beings who are who we interpreted as GOD's are actually in some way more closer to GOD, or are they just a Ancient Advanced Species... in which Case Dr Shaw is still asking.. who CREATED Them.

I think its this 3rd Theme that is the basis of Prometheus and while it throws some Biblical themes around, i dont think the idea would have been to show us some GOD who is like God of the Bible... not at all.

I think its a case of the Question is there a GOD, or no GOD or are we a process of Evolution....

The Answer to this is YES on Both Accounts.. BUT the actual truth about the Very Top of the Hiearchy Chain of Original Creation (so expending beyond the Engineers) is totally nothing like what the Biblical GOD is, and i think would not be a GOD as in the Literal Magical Sense.. but something VERY SINISTER

Where the Creation of Mankind and the Seeds/Roots to where we came from are FAR from some Magical GOD Creating First Man/Woman to Look after and Protect and Grant Eternal Life...

The TRUTH could have been something very Bold and Twisted and Sinister and i for one was looking forwards to finding this out.

BigDaveAlien: Romulus 2 NewsUnused Alien: Covenant Proto-Facehugger & Alien concepts by Dominic Hailstone

Interesting Concepts.... the last one from 2015 does kind of look a little like how one of the so called Prometheus Pandemonium  2014 creatures was going to be as far as how it was explained to me and what i described to Chris back Early 2015 ;)

As for the TV Series, i think it would be interesting as there is quite a lot that could be explored in the Expanded Universe.

*Weyland and Yutani Companies (what Technologies and Rivalries they had and i think the Prequel Novel will touch upon some of this).

*You have the Androids and could cover instances where previous or future models have flaws and rebellious tendencies, we see this with David but also it happened with the Autons (Call AR)

*We could explore the Marines a bit...

But i think doing a TV series about the Engineers may not work, unless it covers some kind of Future Interaction or Distant want, with Flash Backs showing Engineers interacting with Mankind in the past.. or even other Humanoids in other parts of the Galaxy.

But again i am not sure FOX would risk this....  the other ideas as far as a TV series that covers a W-Y kind of Story that has nothing to do with the Engineers or Xenomorphs could be explored i guess... it would not need massive Budgets and i guess the POTENTIAL for a TV Series like this or even just expanded Novels will depend on how Fans take to the Covenant Prequel book by ADF that covers the W-Y Company and the Events prior to the Covenant ship leaving Earth.

HOWEVER... I think FOX may still be reluctant because they may think the Franchise has to be about the Xenomorphs which we have seen done over and over... and i think a TV Series about Marines and Xeno's will just completely COOK the BEAST
