You're welcome. Youtube is full of Scott interviews on AC, it won't be a big problem to find his exact words.

'I just think that people should be allowed to like what ever movie they want, doesn't mean that I have to agree with them.'

Nobody claimed in this thread that you have to agree with them!

You wrote: 'Those that dislike the movie and don't want more people to watch AC manipulated...'

This sentence is about the fact that there are people (including you?) who don't want more people to watch AC. Members and other readers can understand this sentence, they don't need me to explain it better.

Lawrence of Arabia - 'Prometheus was David's film with Shaw as a co-lead like Daniels is with Covenant.'

That's true and it should be seen!

But it's OK if there are people who don't agree with that.

red0guy@gmail.com - If the exact words by him are so important for you, watch his AC interviews and you'll find them. There are more with this info, but I remember a video in which he is together with Waterston. Go ahead.

"Ridley Scott does not agree with this statement." - where did he state this? I would be interested in his exact words.

'I don't agree that Prometheus was David's story.' - Ridley Scott does not agree with this statement.

'I don't care about Lawrence of Arabia.' - That's a strange opinion, considering that 'Lawrence of Arabia' - the character and the original movie - is an important background element of Prometheus.

@ali81

Yea, I can see that David had a purpose to find alien technology for the Prometheus expedition for sure, that is until Weyland died and the Prometheus crashed and killed everyone except for Shaw.

I think Covenant had by far the best dialogue of all the Alien movies.

I agree, the film is so quotable and the writing is intelligent.

Covenant was very dark, almost unbearable sometimes and the ending left no door open for hope, David in control of so many helpless good souls, Daniels going into cryosleep with the thought that David is going to do to her what he did to Shaw... Can you feel that desperation?

A big part of what I love about Covenant so much is how dark it is, the film is very anti-human and nihilistic.

I think you misunderstand what these prequels are about. You don't have to agree but it's still a fact. Prometheus was David's film with Shaw as a co-lead like Daniels is with Covenant.

You don't have to care for Lawrence of Arabia but that film clearly inspires a lot in this new saga to which I'm trying to explain.

Getting the Engineers right is key. Their holy city has been desecrated....thousands dead...Who knows what important leaders have been killed.....remains of monkey like creatures are found and one buried on holy ground!! A large statue of the founding father has been decapitated!

They should also explain why it took 10+ years for the Engineers to arrive at planet 4 and survey the devastation.....is 10 years like 10 seconds to a eon spanning race?  Maybe they left for other galaxies and it takes decades to return or even receive the news.

"The Engineer society could be interesting to see as far as the religion and political structures are concerned. They must be done in a menacing way to be a real threat".

The interesting element to this request is you only to have to listen to the  writers commentaries on Prometheus to understand that is precisely what they had in mind for the follow up.

The awe filled wonder of the creation myth in the prologue.

The implications Pietro said that underlying the state of LV 223 was Paradise Lost.

The really interesting element was the creation myth designed around consensual sacrifice. From that it was very easy to see how at some point that had become corrupted and lead to non consensual sacrifice which is hinted at in the Covenant Mural but plays no part in the film.

Sacrifice

A Fall Paradise Lost

Retribution

Those were the themes hinted at in Prometheus all that needed to happen was for Shaw the ultimate survivor whose faith was going to be tested in an even more horrific way and David the ultimate passive aggressive personality who hates humanity and loves Shaw to arrive at Paradise Alive and alive with the most horrendous truths hinted at in discarded lines from Logan's drafts.

That is not me also defining my fan entitlement its simply pointing out they looked through the opening to a really interesting foot path and stopped turned left and turned up at the Xeno Fix Bar.

Ati: What people enjoy and not is a varied thing. I just laughed at the thought that the weather by some conspiracy crashed it for those that like Alien Covenant and that the biggest problem as far as the head-line is concerned is that many people didn't get to see AC not that people get homeless and other bad things caused by the shitty weather.

Alien: Covenant is expected to fall to #5 in Japan this weekend. It estimated to pull in around $875K for the weekend which would bring it to a total of $5.8M. Early estimates for the weekend expected on Sunday.

Ati In a way I am happy this time I am not the target of your ire. However, I feel sad that you have to embarrass yourself like this. After all, there is a positive side to your virtual persona and I enjoy many of your contributions to this forum. With his line "Those that dislike the movie and don't want more people to watch AC manipulated the weather against it. :D" Thoughts_Dreams  is just ironically describing your mindset, which is: you think that people who didn't like Covenant don't want other people to watch it because it is a big conspiracy. You made that clear many times; either you don't get irony or you try to make people look bad by twisting their words in the hopes the other users didn't read the original post. You should be a good sport and apologize to Thoughts_Dreams.

Does this mean that they're gonna be able to tie in with the first film and not do a reboot? Wrap up the story as such?

Thoughts_Dreams - 'Please read the second paragraph of my reply.'

I did. You write: 'Those that... don't want more people to watch AC...'

It's shocking. I think it's sad and ridiculous that you think that you have to tell others what to do. Everybody has the right to watch a movie and decide on its quality alone. But it is only my opinion...

FatheredcatAlien: Covenant ForumRidley Scott screwed this up big time,

riggzamortis86 You clearly are a young victim of a mothers over praising her son. Your antagonistic remark is uncalled for, it's easy for a coward to hide behind the internet, where I"m from that attitude can bring you a short life. Ridley can do what he wants with a film he makes weather it's good or bad, I don't have to like what he makes or what any one else makes. Grow up! not every one is going to agree with you, your parents should have taught you that.

The movie was well done, the CGI was perfect unlike Alien 3, the white aliens were really good, I think they should have stuck with that, instead just as it's getting intense David shows up which is fine but it didn't go any where else after that until close to the end. I do agree with the rest of you that the door is still open for other things, and it do agree with Blackwinter-witch, naming the aliens does take away their power in a since. I didn't really like the idea of the aliens and life on earht being genetically engineered, but that part wasn't that bad, I could still go with it, and it's old news to me, it was in the comic book back in the late 80s. David to me was just a bad copy of Lore from Star Trek, then you had Walter vs. David,(Lore vs. Data) Cliche.

Thoughts_DreamsNotoriousShorty

I think the key for success as you say is to get the Engineers right, and find human characters that are not the usual marine or clumsy science officer. Another key element is to buy the rights for the HR Giger designs that the artists have been unable to use so far.
