Christie- We expecting any trouble?

Elgyn - It'll keep us till we can get the family wagon up to spec. Assuming the natives are friendly. 

(After Christie's reminder, the smirk on Elgyn disappears...almost.  Elgyn enjoys free food.)

Elgyn replies, "It'll keep us till we can get the family wagon up to spec.  Assuming the natives are friendly."

Christie (looking disappointed but un surprised)- Oh great. Army food.

Elgyn replies to his buddy in a respectful and direct manner, "We're coming in.

Elgyn than adds a little smirk, "Time to enjoy a little of the general's hospitality."

Christie- What's our status?

Elgyn laughs at that remark and replies, "Not my style."  He then exits the engine room.

(Call ignores her analysis of Elgyn and stays serious.)  

She replies without a doubt in her mind, "Trust me, boss."

Elgyn- I don't want them so much as rattled. Any leakage, I take it out of your hide.

(Call feels like she is being blamed for not securing the cargo trucks when she did before liftoff on the trip to this island of a ship.)

Call replies, "I checked 'em an hour ago." 

(Call analyzes Elgyn's facial expression and she's a little confused at Elgyn's concern and his paranoia question.)

Call- What?

Elgyn- We're docking. Are the cargo trucks secured?

(I'm riding on hopes...again.)

Elgyn: Great. 

We're coming in now.

(Elgyn rises from his crouch and yells at the top of his lungs.)

Call!!!!!

Vriess- Well, if we can lay over for a couple of days, and the Army is generous with their spare parts, I can give you a definite maybe.

(Elgyn hands him an old, compact soldering iron.)

(Elgyn starts to loose his calm demeanor after hearing that.)

Is she in shape to get us out of the territories?

(He thinks to himself again, "You never can tell...")

Vriess- Like shit. Like old, worn out, oxidized shit. Hand me that iron.

xenoclone Interesting collection. Isn't everything there in the Anthology- at least for the 1st 4 movies? It sure takes up less space than the DVD quadrilogy! At any rate, that is an impressive collection!

Engine room:

He leans downs, looks under a prodigious block of machinery - part of the Betty's Engine. Lying on a gurney-like steel dolly, working under the machine is Vriess, Chief Mechanic

Elgyn - How's it looking? 

Elgyn- Christie,! Rise and shine. We're docking.

"He looks to be in his 60s or 70s in Covenant, so that means he was probably created around 2050-2070."

I agree with what you wrote above Kethol (and all the rest of your analysis). Ridley Scott covered quite a bit in the commentary and I'm glad he touched on this.

In the Alien: Covenant exchange in between David and Peter Weyland above, I always though that was an earlier model than the David 8 because Peter Weyland asked him to perform on the piano after reciting the names of the works of art around him (David).

Is David an A.I. Transfer (Consciousness) to new Android/Model or just updates to the original creation of Peter Weyland? 

Above, David obviously had the knowledge of humanity's work but had yet to hear "I am your father" from Peter Weyland. He knew how to play the piano, showed skills, and memory but didn't know who Peter Weyland was when he woke up.

So, Peter Weyland looks around 60 to 70 above. And a little put out with David's question assuming death awaited him. David had been awake just moments and he brought up that he would live forever and his father would die. Peter Weyland shut that down with his insistence on a cup of tea.

I put this time around the release of David 5 but the David that Peter Weyland called "son" was much different from what was released to mass market.

David recognized artwork and everything around him and was able to play the piano and give a history of the musical piece but had to be told he was Peter Weyland's "son".

I believe the David 8 on Paradise that Peter Weyland referred to as "son" was his original creation. His son was special from the rest of all Davids and referred to as David 8 because he was always current.

(He then runs his his hand over his mates curves in her face and shoulder and barely missing her chest.  She's very attractive, plus she's his mate.  Life is good.  They just need to get this money from this sketchy job from the military in an unrestricted area of space.  He thinks this should be easy,... but you can never tell.)

Hillard - Darlin' it is done

::new scene::

(A vessel starts to approach the ship Ripley and the scientists are on (the Auriga).  The ship is close enough to ask for an authorization code.)

(The captain of the vessel (called The Betty) naturally and loudly voices his code over to the officer asking for it like he's done this many, many, many of times.)

My authorization code is 'fuck you', son.  Now open the goddamn bay or General Perez is gonna do a Wichita stomp on your virgin ass.

(The captain, Elgyn, than switches off the voice box.)

Partly to himself and to his neighboring mate, Elgyn says, "I guarantee that boy's never seen the inside of a woman."

Elgyn calmly orders his female mate, Hillard, "Bring us in on three-oh descent, ride the parallel."

(He speaks to her like there will be no questions coming from his "order".  They're on the same wavelength and in tune to what needs to be done.  The only question is when and the when is now.)

Ripley- It's a cancer. You can't teach it tricks. (Ripley thinks a bit) Them.

(Wren's constant smile gets bigger.) And the animal itself is wondrous.  They'll be invaluable once we've harnessed them.

(fun observation. Ripley and call share drinking styles)

Ripley (laughing bitterly)- Oh, I am!

(Wren looks jokenly at Ripley, like he's above her.  She is a clone after all, a creation that he had a main part in creating.  So, Wren thinks, he is above her in some evolutionary and intelligent way and doesn't take her concerns very seriously.)

Wren: I wish you could understand what we're trying to do here.  The potential benefits of this race go way beyond urban pacification.  New alloys, new vaccines... there's nothing like this in any world we've seen.  (Wren pauses to think for a second) You should be very proud.

(Wren speaks this in a way like he has rehearsed it.  In a way, he has.  He's always thinking about how the work he is doing is so great.  There is no doubt in his mind that what he, and even Gediman, is doing is the right move and if Ripley, or #8 (according to Wren), doesn't get it, that's not his problem.  It's worth a shot to convince her though.  She is after all an apparent successful clone project.)

@Ingeniero - Weyland was 103 when he died, according to the timeline. He was 70 when David 7 was created in 2070. A new David model comes out approximately every 7-10 years, so David 8 should be along around 2080, making Weyland around 80 years old.

When David 8 is born in Covenant, Weyland has a little bit of gray hair, but does not look much different than he did in the Ted Talk. He did not look like a person in his '80s.

If he is really around 80, I suppose we can chalk it up to increased lifespan and quality of healthcare that far into the future, but he looked very aged just 23 years layer when he died.

Ripley - {Shrugs} It's your funeral.
