I was tempted but i dont have a lot of money due to no work due to Health Problems... so have to scrip and save and my Guilty Pleasure instead was THIS R2D2
Which i got for a Bargain £29.99
But i was considering one of those BOX's i really hope its not a Scam on People and so Fingers Crossed yours all come through.
I think that was the case.... we have to look at it from Shaws Point of View...
My Prometheus 2 did not touch upon how Shaw put David back together, like the Crossing, it just left it open to debate but showed he has Marks to show he was Stitched together so to speak. A reason i skipped this was because of how long it would take and where did she get the Tools, and then considering the Deacon was on the loose... i had it that they did not spend long on LV-223.. But my draft idea only covered David and Shaw for like 20% tops.
So i think the way they went with the Crossing opens the same kind of Questions i avoided and left to ambiguity a bit... I think the clues are that Dr Shaw had salvaged the Wreckage of the Prometheus.... i dont think she would be so foolish to go back to the Life-boat.. but then i think thats a posibility she would have to have taken.. unless we assume she obtained a lot from the other wreckage in Good Condition.
So the Question with the crossing is... how come they did not.. or did they.. come into contact with the Deacon?
My reason for avoiding this and not showing was indeed to not have to deal with this... this was to be left for a 3rd Movie in my idea where Yutani come to LV-223 and discover the Deacon.
Thank you so much!!! :D
David and Weyland have a really interesting discussion about the play this song is from, in the beginning of the novel.
It turns out, the Gods are doomed even as the enter Valhalla, because it winds up getting destroyed in a fire or something...
Anyhow, it struck me as foreshadowing of David's eventual fate. ...Ridley Scott does seem pretty fond of death by incineration scenes. We'll find out in the next movie I guess!
Yeah getting concerned a little
I think as far as getting away with Bombardment, indeed it would have to consider Earths Defenses... but at the time of the Mission we was never as Advanced and i think in part the reason for wanting to destroy is was to prevent us becoming so Advanced... We see the Juggernaught had no Weapons, not in a way to defend itself.
I think the Juggernaught relies on Speed... it would arrive so fast and by the time its detected and intercepted it would have unloaded its Payload.
@VivisectedEngineer
Indeed i think this was maybe RS way of saying it, but there are flaws still as the Engineers have different eyes and their skin was clearly a lot different but then some Africans are really Dark, and some North Europeans are really Pale and so the color difference is big.... but we all have the same Eye Designs... our Iris can all be different colors but we all have the same white Sclera...
The Prometheus Engineers have no white Sclera.. and so they should have used complete Black Out Contact Lenses like in Prometheus, but maybe this is a oversight.
But leads to some debates... so we have to then consider a few possibilities.
*The Paradise/Planet 4 beings Predate the Engineers, the Engineers are a Creation of theirs or Super Engineered versions given Genetic Improvements.
*The Engineers Predate the Paradise/Planet 4 beings, and so those beings are a replacement for them.
*The Engineers simply Evolved on a Different Place where having different Skin-tone was due to the different environment like maybe how many Skin Colors of Mankind are. And as for the Eyes.. again maybe the Engineers in Prometheus Evolved or are Engineered to live in Worlds where there is more Light or less Light and so their Eyes had Evolved or been Engineered that way.
*Paradise/Planet 4 has intermixed various Hybrids of Races, Engineer DNA mixed with other Humanoids. Especially if the whole Purpose of Seeding Worlds was to allow the creation of a Humanoid the Engineers could procreate with.
I am drawn to the last possibility.
Sincerest congratulations!
"If we consider the Crossing though, then her Hair Growth is Long and a Human Female would need 6-12 Months to Grow that Hair. So we can make from this that Dr Shaw had at very least waited a fair few months before she felt confident to Put David back together again."
Good observation, I'm really enjoying your level of detective work here.
I'm also really enjoying picturing David living as a decapitated head for six to twelve months as he earned Shaw's trust, because that is freaking hilarious. Must have been damned frustrating for a busy-bee like him.
We dont know how many Cargo Holds there are.. Spaights idea i think was 7? In Prometheus i could make out potentially 4.
We dont know what % David unleashed on Paradise of the One Hold... but i think it is indicated that this Bombardment eventually lead to all Life dying off.... i think we can buy the Engineers remaining within one City... the Garden of Eden if you will. But surely how could they keep all animals confined to One City?
So i would assume the Bombardment's effects are widespread.
I would also assume a Payload on Earth would infect a wide area over time as it contaminates Life.. But i think you raised a Good Point and from a Engineering Point of view.. having a Bombardment only affect a certain area even though Large would be ideal way to Re-set certain areas of Life or Evolve Certain Areas etc.
I think we need to wonder how many Engineer Ships had been destined to go to Earth? just the One? And i think if the Ships unloaded its Full Payload i think the effects could have been devastating and who knows how far its effects would reach over a period of time?
We only have the Weyland File to use as reference to the effects on a Planet from the Black Goo Urn Bio Weapon but this File does not inform us of the number of Urns dropped to have the effect they describe.
I would certainly think a Bombardment say on the USA would render most Life in North America Dead/Evolved. We still dont know the Half-Life of the Bio-Weapon too.
But we know its effects can Mutate some Life and create those Spores that remain around for quite some time.
Interesting! I'd thought I saw female Engineers in the mix. It makes sense that they don't look exactly like the Engineers in Prometheus.
Think about it. We only saw two Engineers in Prometheus. If an alien being saw only two humans, do you really think those two humans would be a representative sample of all human beings on Earth?
Like...really consider the diversity of humanity. What if the only example of a human being you saw was Yao Ming? Or, that lady who plays Maa Petite on AHS? Or like..a famous body-builder. You'd have no idea what other appearances human beings could have, right?
So, it makes sense that Engineers don't just look one specific way.
But when Prometheus came out, i had speculated from clues given that the Suits was somehow Part Organic.. And so i consider the Suits where Organic to a degree...
so i had the following analogy how how those Engineer Suits in Prometheus would eventually become like the Space Jockey. And i used these to get the point across.

I think David was intentionally drawing below his ability level in "The Crossing" to endear Shaw to him and to not alert her to how obsessed he was with her.
Indeed could explain the reason why it was Petrified looking, well ossified maybe as it never looked Fossilized, the Space Jockey to me did not look like a Skeleton... if it was then its a bit of a strange and crappy one... the Rips looks like Bone, and the Helmet looked like a Skeleton.. but the other parts seemed to be connected to the Chair... maybe it could be connections that connected beneath the Skin and then the Space Jockey became a Fossil... but i never thought so.
To me it was like a Exoskeleton and so i was drawn to this... but also i wondered if it was a Suit too... but certainly back in the day i thought it was a Exoskeleton and was connected to the Xenomorph and Ship as the 3 was connected.
So i would assume a Dead Xenomorph after thousands of years would also turn out looking similar.

Thanks!!! I'll raise a non-alcoholic toast with Leo there! (I'll pour my own drink, thanks David). :P
Thanks!!! :D I know right!? How amazing is that!? This world is a cool place, can't wait to show someone around it!
I think the reason it took a while was because of all my stress from work. But now that I'm on summer vacation; my life is all riding bikes, shooting hoops, watching my favorite movies and minimal human contact. So, my stress reduced and things finally worked out! :) I'm glad, because I was getting to the point where Shaw's "I can't create life..." scene was making me tear up a bit...
Thanks!!! And congratulations to you as well! That must be so amazing! I am really looking forward to it!
@Ati
LOL! I swear to you, when I first told my husband about this I said "If it's twins I'm naming them David and Walter." My husband's reaction was literally like " O_O; Oh...no...". Lol.
Indeed i think thats interesting... and would fit with how he can Evolve... i would assumed a Android could Draw really well.. but i suppose if David has never done so before..
But i would assume if David is the same Robot from the Prologue or has the memories and experiences of this David 1 and other Prototypes after... That at some point he would have taken up Painting various kinds of Art.
And so its likely this drawing was just a quick doodle... what David could rustle up within seconds to surprise Shaw.
The other Images are maybe just concept work for the movie that RS felt would be Cool to add into the back ground and we are not supposed to look at them in detail and study them.
But as we have seen them... they do not add up to what we see happened to Shaw.. but we need to remember we only had a quick view... just like the Egg in Prometheus.. it was easy to miss as its never fully shown.
So then it allows me to consider some explanations... maybe after David felt Rejected by Shaw, maybe either she was in hiding, or even after he had captured her and held her against her Will.
His mind started to have some pretty nasty thoughts about Shaw and so he took to drawing various images of Shaw in Fates that had befallen her in his twisted mind.
Bit like how some disturbed Children who have been affected and feel unloved or hurt by Parents, or Teachers or others.. will start to Draw Stick-Man Drawings of them being hurt or killed or hanged etc etc..
I think this is a good explanation to some of those Pictures David had drawn... rather than them being actual things he had done to her... it could be drawing of some negative thoughts he had about her due to how hurt he was from being Rejected.
"Interesting idea... that would be interesting to see... maybe similar explains those Engineers bodies in Alien Covenant?"
Or the Space Jockey exit wound. If it's a recent event?
I think they can surely change things as they go along.. especially of RS kind of makes more movies that De-Canonize Aliens... which i hope they dont do.
But my point being that what if the Xenomorph when its Life-cycle completes... it dies and its Acid Blood then breaks down its Genetic Material to allow for some other Stage so the Organism can Procreate.
Its maybe hard to visualise, but what if a Egg Grows from its remains?
I think its easier to consider what if the Neomorph had a limited Span, or even after being killed too... the Body then breaks down and from its remains Spouts more Spores.
This would indeed in affect make the Organism a Living Walking Killing Deadly Virus.
"Maybe the acid blood has a fossilizing agent, after a week or so it turns hard as stone?"
Interesting idea... that would be interesting to see... maybe similar explains those Engineers bodies in Alien Covenant?
Well, I think it's safe to say: The Engineer heading towards Earth at the End of Prometheus, didn't have the ability to destroy it(maybe a small town somewhere,..... if he made it past the Earth Defense Fleet...cool action sequence).
I suppose he could have poisoned the oceans? How much damage can one do with a canister or a thousand?
I'm not sure how I'd try to destroy Earth with a Juggernaut full of pathogen? ?
What none of Mine ;)
I am glad people enjoyed it... i felt it was disappointing but i understand why, i think its a shame the Movie did not have a Larger Budget to allow to improve some Effects... its a shame we never got 2hr 45min so some scenes had to not be Rushed for sake of having to fit within a time constraints..
I think its a Shame the movie was aimed to make it for a Cert 15 and not a 18...
I think on Paper the Story was not so bad, potential was there, and i totally understand every single reason for why things was the way they where.
I cant wait until i purchase a Copy, ans hopefully the more i see the movie the more it will grow on me like Prometheus has. And i think the Prometheus/David/Engineer Elements that was not covered so much.. do leave a lot to debate which i think was the Ace Card for Prometheus... a Spoon Fed Prometheus would have left little to debate.
I cant wait to see the deleted Scenes, and i will have to Read the Novel so i can see the Potential that he Movie had if it was not for having to work within certain restrictions.
Some Totally Dislike AC... i can find more to dislike Alien Resurrection than i can with AC and i think Prometheus has its flaws too... its the Bold Plot in Prometheus that is what i found good about the movie... if it was not for the Bold Plot and if it was a Spoon Fed a bit.... i think Prometheus would not have been too good to be honest.
Prometheus gets a 65/100 from me... yet i am drawn to watching and studying it over and over more than even Alien (87/100) and Aliens (78/100) Prometheus was a 5.5/10 that has grown on me... Aliens was a 9/10 then has just became Popcorn as i get Older.
And so Alien Covenant which i give 6/10 generously i wonder if it will grow on me too.
But i am really happy that a lot of people here enjoyed this movie.
And i cant wait to get the Blu-ray and maybe DVD too.
So i think its likely Shaw was awoken after the Crash, and David had informed her that the Engineers did not welcome them and attempted to attack... which resulted in both ships crashing but David managed to release the Bio-Weapon as he knew at this point... these beings would be Hostile.
He would then likely told her he found out more about their ways during the journey, and having arrived to Paradise and not being Welcomed he had no choice but to do this and Protect Dr Shaw.... and not to worry as the Black Goo would likely take them all out and once the infection has surpassed he could go through their records and get her SOME Answers and that SOME Answers and Living was better than NOT getting them and dying.
This is what i ASSUME she would have found out... and its certainly the route i would take at least, if i was to work on a Prequel Story leading to and after those events (arriving and Bombardment)
I think if we look at some Clues... David claimed he Loved Dr Shaw, and when he attacked Daniels he said he was going to do the same to her as he did with Dr Shaw... we have to remember he tried to Mount and Kiss her.... and when he talked to Walter he asked if Walter Loved Daniels.
So i think Davids feelings for Dr Shaw grew to more than Platonic and i do think he made this known, or even made Advances which she Rejected and Felt Shocked and Scared about... this could give her Reasons to distance herself.. and it could be seen by David as Rejection and he may have viewed her as just as the other Humans he encountered when he FELT she was DIFFERENT this is what i think happened there.
Fassbender said there relationship was like Marriage, i think this is how David viewed it.
Another Clue to consider, which may not be taken as 100% Fact.. well we cant 100% use it to apply to what 100% Happened... is when discussing some Concept Work the Concept Artist including Wayne Haagg had said the Juggernaught and Mother Docking Ship had a Dust Up..
So the Mothership had attempted to Prevent David from doing more Damage and the Result of this Conflict likely leads to both Ships CRASHING... which the Mothership in some Shots can clearly be seen has crashed also.
This is one of those 64M $$$ Questions... rightfully something to debate and something i think Fans hoped the Prequel book would cover... which it will not.
I think its open for debate but we need to look at the clues and again with any debate when looking at clues, it depends what clues we use as to determine likely explanations.
The Movie alone is Ambiguous, we vaguely see Dr Shaw, so its hard to figure out what has happened. 10 years had past from Prometheus to Alien Covenant and Dr Shaws Body does seem to be well preserved for 10 years... so we can assume she has not been like this for 10 years but also we dont know if David found ways to keep her like this... he could have drained her of Fluids and thus Embalmed her etc.
If we consider the Crossing though, then her Hair Growth is Long and a Human Female would need 6-12 Months to Grow that Hair. So we can make from this that Dr Shaw had at very least waited a fair few months before she felt confident to Put David back together again. So we can debate did she leave soon, and managed to Escape LV-223 with David in TWO Parts? Before latter she re-attached him.
I would say David has his own Agenda, and if Shaw knew she could get him to take her where she wanted with David in TWO Parts then she would not need him repaired.. and So David would do everything he could to make sure THINK she would be unable to leave without David in One Piece.
Once Dr Shaw was in Cryo-sleep at this very moment DAVID is Free to do what he wants and go where he Wants and we have to look at his AGENDA .... He does not want to Die and Remain just a Head, he has Goals and Agendas... the upbringing by Weyland has impacted David and David feels that he is more than just a simply Servant and Tool.
Dr Shaw has NOTHING... She Lost EVERYTHING.. All She wanted was to Get HER ANSWERS If she was given the Choice of not getting Answers and Surviving or to Face One of these Beings and ASK her Questions with the Chance she may GET THEM but also BE KILLED or maybe even JUST BE KILLED i think she would take that CHANCE.
David had found out a fair bit about the Engineers, he certainly knows how insignificant Mankind is to them, and he surely knows how a Engineer had received him.
David had tried to Welcome and Embrace a Engineer before and that never ended up well for him... i think he would not want to RISK this again. So if David can find out a bit more about them during his time alone, he could make a Risk Assessment and he would conclude that simply being accepted by these BEINGS on Paradise and Given Answers and Welcomed... is something that far from can be GUARANTEED
David does not want to take any Chances that Shaw meet these beings who may just embrace their arrival with the same fashion the Engineer did in Prometheus.
For David he would rather Take them out with the Black Goo where he can then see First Hand what this Bio-Weapon was intended for as far as its delivery...
Then he is free to go through the Ruins of their Civilization and Learn as much as he can from these Ruins... Doing so he could maybe PROVIDE Dr Shaw some ANSWERS
And so i think this is what he CHOSE to do... I think there is a Good Chance he would Lie to Shaw, and say he found out someway the Engineers Intentions and explained that he had no Choice to do what he did... but from the Ruins he could give her Answers.
I think because he was FOND of Dr Shaw he would have kept her in Cryo-sleep while he Bombarded the Engineers.
I dont think he would have awoken her before and asked her what she wanted to do, or say what he Found Out or even Lied or Exaggerate it just so he could get her Seal of Approval
I think things could have started to be ok... but i do think Dr Shaw may have uncovered a few things David was up to that may have lead to her not Trusting Him.
BD according to the book the pathogen infects the host and produces more of the black goo. Thats how David explained it. It keeps making more and more as long as it has hosts.
I assume because its intent is to wipe out planets. As soon as it has no hosts it goes dormant.
The Black Goo effect is interesting... its maybe not done as good as could do because some of the Black Goo Rain Drops so to speak hardly Drenched some but they was spewing up a lot of Black Liquid.
So its a bit bizarre how this looks and i think if they though it out it could have been done better. It appears this Substance is entering the bodies of some and making them regurgitate it, some seem to have what looks like Black Fluid seeping and escaping out of other parts of the body.. but it could be the Liquid just entering the body its hard to make out with these screens and the 3 times i saw the movie it all happened fast to be able to not every frame of what was going on.
It appears the Black Stuff was merely poisoning these Engineers and then also causing their Skin to break away and so it looks like a Turbo Charged Ebola Outbreak... if the Ebola Virus mutated so that its spread 100's times faster and its effects was 100's times more violent.
But the Corpses that the Covenant Crew discover seem petrified, they look like Wild Life that was pulled out of the Gulf of Mexico Oil Slick Disaster and then these Wild Life were just left to Die on the Beaches and 10 years latter they remained, the Oil had dried out but left the Organisms still Black... and their Bodys would seem to not Rot...
This is what it looks like the Engineers had ended up...
A Effect of the Black Goo?
Or was some Safety Device used to Halt the Spread of the Virus, that Ultimately left these beings Burnt/Charred etc.
Indeed the LV-223 Engineers also looked like the Sacrificial one
These guys look different but its a Oversight potentially... (some look less Engineer, some are no where near as white) and its like they are Humans in a Cult who worship the Engineers and so shave their hair completely from their bodies.
it looks like most dont have Engineer Eyes, but again these could all be just Oversights, we was never expected to take screen shots and pause the movie to notice...
Or maybe there is a reason they look different?
RS had said the Engineers are not a RACE but a Civilization and then he also mentioned how Humans come in various forms, so could the Engineers... i cant remember word for word his quote but i can try and find it... but it seems he is implying not all of these beings look the same for a REASON.
I think it was along the lines of how come Mankind has many different versions then why cant the Engineers.
I have covered various explanations for this a number of times so maybe i best not go into details again ;)
But i think we need to understand and ask Why do the Engineers Seed Various Worlds and Visit them? If the intention was the same as Earth then that means the GOAL could be to Create Humanoid Life?
We have to ask why though, and especially if they had Females... why not just do what the Covenant is and set off to Habitable Worlds and create a new Colony, surely for a Race that can live Thousands of years... they only need to send down 100 couples onto a World and in a few Engineer Generations it would have a Good Population.
But what if they had to do the Seeding because the older Engineers had Engineered themselves to become Sterile and they simply Lost the Need for Females, and while they extended their Lives... they are never 100% Immortal they merely Evolved to extend their Lives..
Eventually they would Die Out.... so i think the Sacrificial Scene was to obtain and seed a new Race in their image that can Procreate.
I actually noticed that just recently too. I suppose it's meant to show he can evolve and create just like humans do, he can hone his skills instead of it being something he was programmed to do him perfectly to begin with. It's pretty creepy when you think about it considering the experiments he ended up doing.
Wow! I really like the short life cycle angle.
Wonder if the body decays and then releases the acid? Have to make sure you clear out any dead aliens before you take off.
Maybe the acid blood has a fossilizing agent, after a week or so it turns hard as stone?
He also did a good job of sewing Shaw back together leaving no Traces of Scars ;)
Congratulazioni! :) What about the name? David or Walter? :)
Excellent! Can't wait for my 4K blu-ray!
I think the forum established the Engineer from Prometheus's opening scene, was a 'seed' Engineer. The best of the best. Probably fought hundreds of Engineers to get the right to seed the planet. The ultimate alpha male.
Think Earth was seeded with a Homer J. Simpson type....at best.
I dont think he was the king. Imo he was the one that was about to be taken for sacrifice like the one from prometheus.
but who knows
The Engineer King (?) in white, as I mentioned some weeks ago:

Great post!
White goo? Wink wink lol
White- creates life
black- destroys it
IRAPTUS - Congratulations to you as well, my friend! :)

Congratulations, that's wonderful news!
AaronStar In case you are wondering, IRaptus is not pointing at you. The spammer and comment is gone now.
There's already a topic about the crashed scorpion ship.
@TheXenoneoprotomorph Somewhere illegal.
And thanks to AdamPD, looks like theres more than one stone face in the mountain.
