BigDave I remember you posting the cabbage patch before when we were talking about the eggs! Brussels sprouts- highly underrated. They are great!
Facehuggers! Thanks!
I believe that the Yautja species would actually destroy the black pathogen if they ever came across it. They want calculated hunts, no accidents.
That is a very interesting point about the Yautja worth highlighting!! Their hunts are very well organised with strict quarantine measures in the books. Although not mentioned (that I can recall) the BS would definitely be part of their containment protocols. Predaliens are offensive abomination's to them, hence why Wolf stopped at nothing to track it down and kill it.
Perhaps the Yautja have a BS bomb similar to the Engineer's Juggernaut bomber in case of a major outbreak?
Tiwaz he did do something with it now that you mention it. Pulled it from a dead Yautja too didn't he?
Hahah are you referring to the hemorrhoidpede...sorry hammerpede lol
decorate what ever room you are hosting the party in like the dinner room on the nostrum. you can buy one of those dirrinking bird things. you serve noodles at the party so that while eating, you can pretend to chock on them, tell you friend to say hey man, the food aint that bad! then you wll start to flail around on the table as you take your fake chestburster plot and push it strait through your shirt. if it is a buttoned shirt that is. inside your shirt you should tape a plastic bag filled with red water. when you push the prop through the bag, it will break spattering "blood" everywere.
here is a website with instructions to make a completly awsome xenomorph costume if you want one. http://www.instructables.com/id/Alien-Xenomorph-costume/
IRaptus, the questions were rather rethorical. ;) If I remember correctly Wolf did something to it before he used it. Calibration of sorts?
Facehuggers, actually that's a nice thought. BS is the preds countermeasure against the accelerant.
But again, let's not overthink it. Otherwise might end up in giger's naughty kitchen again. XD
I agree, the Yautja are certainly more akin to pirates than scientists.
The PROMETHEUS: Fire and Stone comic is a very interesting read, but if you're seeking the fate of the Deacon, I'm afraid you'll be a bit disappointed. The animated series Chris and Jason Cardona developed is far more satisfying!

Unused Deacon concepts for Fire and Stone
Will the Deacon be in Alien: Covenant (Check the comments!)
Facehuggers! if you can take AVP:R seriously enough it could be an interesting topic to explore. The Yautja are pretty advanced but seem like the type that reverse-engineer and knock-off other species tech to bastardise it into their own weaponry and arsenal.
I must get this PROMETHEUS: Fire and Stone comic!! I want to know more about the Deacon!!
Tiwaz I think you are right and we are probably WAY over-thinking it because again....its AVP:R. They probably just chucked it in because it looked cool. The answer to your questions is that it's probably magic.
The question that crosses my mind when pondering your questions is: did Wolf stop and consider the salinity problems his solvent would have on the local farmers land. What happened if that shit got in the local drinking water?! irresponsible alien.
lol hahaha now we're just taking the piss.
Interesting comparison! In the comics, PROMETHEUS: Fire and Stone, the Engineers absolutely hate the Yautja species. So I doubt that Engineers would ever share technology with the Predators.
I believe that the Yautja species would actually destroy the black pathogen if they ever came across it. They want calculated hunts, no accidents.
On a different note, I'd love to see how the blue solvent affects the black pathogen!
Considering the AVP:R makers they probly didn't give it too much of a thought.
I'd go with Yautja-Tech to erase biological "evidence".
Both break down bio-matter but that's bout it since the blue solvent does nothing else.
Well, just to let the thoughts fly. The amount Wolf used to dissolve a whole pred body seems a bit small. So the solvent might "reproduce" itself til the "targeted" mass is gone.
Leads to the question how does it know when it's done? Does it only spread across connected tissue? Has it a timed kill switch to prevent it from spreading endlessly? These are questions crossing my mind when thinking bout it.
Welcome to Scified, XenomorphAwakening!
And nice catch! There could definitely be a connection, although I must admit, much of the film is inherently vague.
For instance, Captain Bryant tells Deckard that Replicants have a four year lifespan because it was a safety measure. However, Tyrell explains to Batty that technicians actually haven't been able to create Replicants that lived beyond four years!
Nevertheless, great observation, upvoted!
Agreed!
So far I'm enjoying how all my interpretations of the opening scene were spot on and loving even more the authors way of describing whats going on with their intentions in regards to their responses to one another. I enjoy the descriptions given. Really good stuff!!
^Kinda underwhelming after how epic I made my last comment xD
Gotta make mine more epic.
The largest of the theropods,
The deadliest predator ever to walk upon the face of the Earth,
The Tyrant King of the Dinosaurs,
Tyrannosaurus rex.

I liked how as light on his feet David was and not even human, the Neomorph easily sensed his presence.
"Thus, in the novel, a super large solar flare could have been released from a nearby star and struck the Covenant."
You are saying you think the Covenant was passing literally right beside a star and went directly through a solar flare? Solar flares are localized. Even the rare massive ones only loop out a distance equal to a few times the diameter of the star. Or did you mean to say CME? Either way, they would have far bigger problems if they were traveling inside a solar system at faster than light speeds. Well, maybe not a bigger problem than the the heat and radiation from the flare destroying the Covenant when it hit it.
Next time you watch the movie, watch the screen David is looking at when Muthur says a neutrino burst has been detected. It shows a shell exploding from a pin point, expanding outward. There is a small graphic of the covenant, and as the screen view pulls back they show pin point stars in between the ship and the point the shell exploded from. They don't show a straight line from a CME burst. They show a spherical shell, expanding outward in all directions from the origin point. They are implying a super nova, or the explosion of a star igniting.

I Moon Girl - "The book doesn't actually state "solar flare"
Finally! :)
I Moon Girl - ..."or even "stellar flare".
Not the book, but that's in the movie. Sorry, I realize you can't see the movie again yet to confirm. I have the benefit of having recorded the audio the third time I saw it.
________________
I get you really want this theory to be true, even though the movie and book descriptions for what was shown to be a physical shockwave bashing into the ship are nonsensical, but what are you basing it on? What did you see or hear in the movie or book that even hints that Walter had something to do with the event that hit the Covenant?
backburster, bombing of engineers, xenomorph pov shots, neomorph taming, neomorphs attack in the grass.
i really dont understand him.
YES!!! Ok, you and RZA compete to see who can finish it first!
Whichever of you finishes it first, start a thread for novel reactions!
RZA you know what? I actually think Covenant would have been much better with Lindelof on board
Lawrence of Arabia A bit OT but you made an interesting point that I had not considered. Alien 3 is hated by many yet ironically brought religion into the franchise for the first time and has been part of it since Prometheus.
Who else thought Rosenthal was pretty cute? If only she hadn't lost her head ;)
I need to read the Novelization, from what I've been hearing it's pretty good and a great companion to the movie as it fleshes out the characters more and presents alternate routes.
For the religious aspect of Covenant, books like The Chariots of the Gods and Paradise Lost, I feel were concepts from Prometheus which was half the merge that resulted in Covenant. Besides, since Alien 3, religion has a part in the Alien lore so it fits imo.
I ordered 2 the other day. I received no ship date confirmation and thought this might be a scam- it happens. I emailed the company and they responded promptly that they ship 28 June and will send tracking info- it was a personal letter and not an automated one- he commented on the city in which I live.
I knew about the A Box before but dismissed it. I need to throw some props out to Lawrence of Arabia and MonsterZero for the reminder and video review link.
I am considering using the face hugger in a way to serve as a candy bowl to present to trick or treaters this October!
@RZA
OMG, YES!!! I hope you'll post your reactions!
joylitt I wonder how different AC would have been had Lindelof and Spaights worked on it.
@VivisectedEngineer
I'm on the couch reading the novelization now, and I'm loving it!
RZA I don't like formulaic concepts neither. Prometheus was a step in the right direction... but I think the franchise is drifting away from sci-fi and delving into fantasy territory now. I don't think Ridley Scott ever actually read a science fiction book, and that is ok, but be needs to surround himself by real sci fi writers.
The Chariots of the Gods and Paradise Lost are not Sci fi. As far as the Blade Runner sequel is concerned, I really have my doubts that they bothered to go back to Philip K. Dick's work.
@RZA
"creaturistic" That's a great word! Great description! Yes, the movements of the facehugger were believable and chilling! Like a spider or a scorpion!
The whole design of the creature is really creative and seems almost like something that could really evolve (that that it'd have to, because it's genetically engineered and all).
@Ati
Haha. Well, no description of David can truly live up to his greatness, and I'm quite sure he'd agree.
@VivisectedEngineer
How interesting is that about the sounds right? Well it worked for me, seen AC many times and those sound bits really get me each time. Makes those moments really hit with suspension.
And okay Oram was kinda dumb for looking in the egg lets admit XD but believable or not I chalk it up to it being a scifi horror movie moment and people do dumb things in those movies all the time! LOL
Hey, just thought of another cool moment! When the facehugger runs away from that security guy and scurries up the stairs but stops just short of the bend before facehugging Lope, that felt realistic with how it moved and stopped randomly like that. Very creaturistic.
Don't worry about seeing it alone! The first two times I went to go see it I went with others, but then the next three times I shamelessly went by myself, lol.
I may even go see it for a SIXTH time tomorrow, because I just learned that my building's water is going to be shut off for repairs, so I'll want to be out and about, lol.
Have to try it on these then ;)

@Lawrence of Arabia
Indeed i wonder what the 20 Minutes is... what i do know is there was a Scene Shot where Daniels is grieving for the loss of Jacob... She stares out to the Stars from her Window on the Covenant... likely after the Ejection of Jacobs Body into Space... Daniels then daydreams and sees the lake out of the Window... and then we hit a Flash back of Daniels and Jacob in their New York Apartment, where we are shown a bit about their closeness and they discus the building of a Cabin on a Lake and also excitement for the Covenant Mission.
The Death Scenes were all longer and more gruesome... yep.. AC was more Violent than we get to see, and we see more Nudity in the Shower Scene..
Apart from these... there was a few alternative scenes, but its likely these dont make up the 20 cut minutes.
And so i can only assume the Prologue with Weylands was a bit longer, and there was a few longer Scenes from when the crew are in the Cathedral after David takes them there (Those who have read the Novel will no doubt have some ideas).
And i think the Xenomorph conflict on the Covenant was longer in the Full Cut.
These are just a assumption apart from the Daniels and Jacob extra Scene and the extended Death Scenes.
Lol, that's hilarious. Unfortunately, I'm vegan, so all these fun egg-based ideas aren't going to pass the audition, lol.
I would love to figure out how to make a chestburster cake, though!
As I mentioned in another thread, normally when I need cakes for my classroom parties, I commission one from a vegetarian baker friend who goes to my temple.
...But I can't envision myself asking a sweet and pious Krishna-Devotee to bake and offer to Shri Krishna a cake shaped like a person with a Xenomorph bursting out the chest... >_<
The fingering!
Save for the opening scene of Prometheus, we have only really seen the black goo in canisters. I would like to see where it originates from and how it is manufactured and bottled for weaponry.
Is there a lake of black goo somewhere or could the black goo perhaps be the sacrificial life blood of some higher power that is above the engineers?
I think this Thread shows the Tough Task to try and please everyone... the Franchise has taken so many twist and turns and changes in direction that its opened up the Fanbase to view each movie in the Franchise in a different way.
So its become very Polarizing.
I think they need 3 Movies, to try and please the fans but its who do they cater for first?
I think we need a movie that will show us seeds of the Company and maybe underhanded tactics and inner conflict, this brings a new Scope to the Prequels. One where AI is maybe explored more.. And so to continue Davids Story but then also bring back some of the more Alien Horror to this movie rather than a ALIENS movie.... then bring in the Engineers loosely at the end as a party who sets off to Prevent David's miss-use of the Xenomorph, and to attempt to clear up and eradicate all access to LV-223.
Then have the Engineers come in to try and prevent this and ultimately have this lead to the Space Jockey.
If this is done over TWO movies then ONE could cater for the Aliens Action Fans... If not.... then once a movie ties to Alien... I think the ALIENS Fans deserve a Sequel to Aliens or indeed a Parallel story that revolves around the Xenomorph maybe located prior to Alien and so on Origae-6 to give a more Action based Flick.
Then its a case of would FOX feel another movie to explore the Engineers be something to interest a lot of Fans? Prometheus Fans certainly and maybe Alien Franchise Fans would be interested in finding out the Purpose and Agenda behind the Race that would create the Evil Biology that gave rose to the Xenomorph.
Sadly for FOX its hard to Gauge where to take movies and invest $$$$ without risking not making a Good Return.
The Prequel Novel sounds interesting... it again is misleading Title Alien: Origins... yet looks to not even tackle anything related much to the Xenomorph.. but be more about the Covenant Mission and why and also underhanded Tactics, Sabotage by different factions within the whole Corporate Background of Weyland-Yutani
60% of my Prometheus 2 tackled this kind of Plot... and why such a Story as the Prequel Novel may be a interesting part of the Franchise... FOX would maybe not make it into a Movie because they would not want to take the risk that such a Movie doing justice visually and having a Budget to pull off the Prequel Novel on screen to make it look Great... Would be RISKY as far as how many people would go and see it so the movie Breaks Even.. or even better.
i dont think FOX backs Movies to Break Even, and i think if the next Alien Movie struggles to Break Even it could mean FOX could abandon hope of doing any more for a Long time... where they may then go the Sequel set years after Alien Resurrection, or indeed after Aliens.. or even Reboot the Franchise... but not for many many years (15-20+)
If the next Alien Movie struggles that is.
